Mateo Kovacic is the latest guest in the hot seat on the Official Man City Podcast… The Croatian midfielder joins hosts Sam Cox and FG as he returns for his second appearance on the podcast. Kovacic starts with a look back at his arrival in the summer of 2023 and what it was like joining a City team that had just landed the Treble. And he explains what it is like walking into a dressing room full of superstars having also done so at former clubs Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea. In an incredible career, the 30-year-old has won the Champions League four times, La Liga and the Premier League as well as playing in a World Cup. But he also explains that he often focuses on the negatives of his game rather than looking back at his phenomenal achievements. And in another fascinating and wide-ranging chat, Mateo also talks about how the dynamic in the changing rooms has evolved over the years, scoring spectacular goals and some of the great players he's shared the pitch with. Gvardiol joins presenters Liam Loftus and Paul Dickov at the City Football Academy to discuss a variety of topics including his international career so far, what keeps him humble and the importance of family. What's more, he details the impact Mateo Kovacic's advice and presence had on him following his Manchester arrival and much more. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
On Ask James today, with the news of Tottenham missing both first choice centre backs there's a big warning for Fantasy managers who were looking to sell Erling Haaland, but with Mateo Kovacic also out for City, Tottenham are not without their own chances to hurt tomorrow and that may make selling or benching the likes of Brennan Johnson or Dominic Solanke awkward too. Plus, Trent Alexander-Arnold is out and James will be moving him on as part of a plan to get Alexander Isak, and going treble Arsenal defence is not something James is ruling out at this stage, particularly with one player's xMins on the rise following today's Team News. As usual, all the transfer and benching dilemmas covered and there's more chat on Ange Postecoglu and the long-term. After Manchester City's opening day win at Stamford Bridge, David Mooney is joined by Dan Burke from One Football and Dom Farrell from Sporting News to review the game. Who were the standout performers against Chelsea and how did City solve the no-Rodri problem so well? We take a look at Mateo Kovacic, Rico Lewis and Bernardo Silva in particular. It looks like Ilkay Gundogan could be returning, too, so we look at how his arrival could affect the options in the squad and the make-up of Pep Guardiola's team selections. It's Ipswich Town next - and the first meeting in the league between the teams since they relegated City from the Premier League in 2001. Mooney explains why, around that time, he utterly despised the club... and we discover if he's managed to let go of those old hang-ups with Rich from The Suffolk Crunch, who also tells us all about what to expect from Kieran McKenna's side on Saturday. ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. After the game, Micah Richards questioned whether Nicolas Jackson is the ‘top striker' Chelsea currently need after he missed a great chance to get on the scoresheet. There is also reaction from both goalscorers, Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic as well as Pep Guardiola, who said it is an honour to manage Manchester City. Enzo Maresca speaks with Pat Davison and was happy with the performance of his players but said they did not take the chances they created.

Mateo Kovacic is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast. The Croatia international has already enjoyed a career most footballers can only dream of. At 29, he has represented Dinamo Zagreb, Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea before moving to Manchester earlier this year. During that time, the midfielder has won an incredible 18 major honours including four Champions League trophies. That's not to mention a runners-up finish at the 2018 World Cup before coming third in last year's edition. Now he's part of a City squad seeking to follow in the footsteps of our historic Treble winning campaign. And he's made a strong start to life at the Etihad, playing 14 times as City have set the early pace in the Premier League and guaranteed safe passage to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Despite all of his prior experience, Kovacic admits in this podcast that he's learning every day from working with Pep Guardiola. Sitting down with hosts Rob Pollard and Paul Dickov, he recounts tales from his spells with some of Europe's biggest clubs and what it was that attracted him to Manchester. Then he delves deep into how life at City helps get the best out of footballers and his hopes for his time in sky blue. It's an episode not to be missed!

Mitch Matyana and Grant de Smidt are back in studio to review the newly dubbed "big seven" in the English Premier League. The duo discuss the 2022-23 season performances of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, Man Utd and Liverpool. They also look at which areas need to be strengthened and who the main transfer targets should be in the transfer window. Chelsea 1) With 30 points less than the year before, the biggest regression in EPL, what went wrong? What were the biggest reasons for the failed season: was it sacking Thomas Tuchel, appointing Graham Potter, Frank Lampard's ill-fated return or something else? 2) Mauricio Pochettino has been appointed as the new coach. Is he the right man? He will have just one game a week next season to navigate with no European football. 3) Transfers: Some big departures are expected with Mason Mount, N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic set to leave? Kai Havertz is also being linked with a move away. Which areas will Chelsea sign players having already invested £600m on transfers under the new owners? Man City 1) They won the treble after an incredible finish to the season. How much of it was down to Erling Haaland signing? 2) Pep Guardiola decided to ditch Joao Cancelo on loan to Bayern Munich and have no specialist left back in his XI. After he got criticised for that, no one is saying anything now thanks to his tactical genius. Mitch and Grant discuss the coach's innovative adjustments. 3) Could City see some big departures like Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva in the transfer window? And who comes in to replace them? Where can they realistically strengthen the side? Arsenal 1) The Gunners finished 2nd, a full 15 points more than the season before. Did they throw away the title even though they would have surely bitten your hand off for 2nd spot back in August? 2) Next season Arsenal are finally back in the UEFA Champions League. Which areas do they need to get stronger in the transfer window to try to match this season or get closer to City in the title race next year? 3) Mitch and Grant make their early predictions for next season: will Arsenal be title challengers or have they missed their golden chance to win the league? Tottenham 1) After so much early season optimism, things unravelled and they finished 8th! How much blame goes to coach Antonio Conte and what other factors were there? They got 11 points from the season before, a big drop-off. 2) Harry Kane got 30 goals out of Spurs' 70 scored. What if he leaves this summer? And if he stays one more year, can Tottenham afford to lose him on a free transfer in 2024? 3) Aside from the attack, where else does new coach Ange Postecoglou need new players? What style of play can we expect from the Australian in his first truly elite job? Newcastle 1) The Magpies got 22 more points than the 21-22 season before, the biggest jump in the entire division. What has Eddie Howe done to turn the entire club and the city around like this? 2) They're in the UEFA Champions League next season. Which areas must they strengthen in order to compete in that competition? One of Mitch's favourites is being linked! 3) Can the Toon make top four again next year and what are some of the pitfalls they could face? We ask whether they have the depth required and whether teams will park the bus against Newcastle next term. Man Utd 1) Erik Ten Hag added +17 points to Man Utd's total in his first season. Mitch and Grant discuss which things impressed them about his work and what the coach improved. 2) It could be an interesting summer for the club, not just because of a potential sale. Who could arrive and who could leave? David De Gea, Harry Maguire and Anthony Martial are some of the big names who could face uncertain futures whilst Mason Mount is being strongly linked. 3) Will we see a different style of play next season, based on the fact that this term wasn't all that similar to what we saw from the Dutchman's Ajax side? We ask whether De Gea may need to depart for this to happen. Liverpool 1) The Reds saw a massive 25-point dip to go from 2nd to 5th spot in the season just past. Simply put.. what happened?! Is the cycle over with these players? 2) Transfer business will be key for Liverpool and Alex Mac Allister is already through the door for a bargain price. James Milner, Roberto Firmino and several others have left. Who else could we see arrive? 3) Can Jurgen Klopp build another great team to win the Premier League title and how long will it take? Or do we see them as more of a Cup team in the next couple of years? Is their old blueprint of 'heavy metal football' no longer possible?

Hello everyone welcome back to our channel Today we'll talked about Thomas Tuchel Reveals the Extent of Chelsea's Recent Covid-19 CrisisChelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has revealed the extent of his side's recent Covid-19 chaos. The Blues were only able to select 17 players in their matchday squad for their 0-0 draw against Wolves on Sunday, with the club experiencing a rise in Covid-19 cases that adds to their list of injuries. With Chelsea going through a difficult period of form, their fresh troubles could affect them heading into the new year. Speaking to the media after the game Tuchel revealed how much his side have been affected by their recent outbreak, with four cases already being confirmed earlier in the week."It's seven players plus staff."When asked if that was the total number, he was unable to confirm as he added: "I don't know. There are some numbers in staff, of course, and they are not at the training ground."A request was made by Chelsea to the Premier League to postpone their game at the Molineux but it was rejected, with a spokesperson for the club saying: “We are deeply disappointed that our application was rejected as we felt we had a strong case for the postponement of today's match on the grounds of players' health and safety.”Tuchel also gave his thoughts on why he thinks the game still went ahead despite the outbreak at the club."I understand the decision. They say, look, they have 14 players but if you look a bit more in detail. You see Trevoh Chalobah with two training sessions, Mateo Kovacic, one training session, you see N'Golo Kante has one training session. "We put a huge health and safety risk physically and not only from Covid. This was the decision and of course, that's it."That's all for today, please like , share , subscribe Thank you see you next time bye bye

On this episode of Chelsea Mike'd Up, Michael Ryan Ruiz and Chris Wittyngham talk to Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovačić about his time at Chelsea, how the side have settled under Thomas Tuchel, and how he combines with Jorginho and N'Golo Kante in the Chelsea midfield. We're back again as we prepare for a double episode week! There was also room for a lot of praise towards Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Mateo Kovacic.
Stamford Chidge is joined by Jonathan Kydd, Dan Silver and Joe Tweeds to look back at Monday nights 2-0 win against 'depleted' Newcastle. On the show tonight, we applaud Timo Werner for getting on the score sheet at last; but the plaudits should go to the real man-of-the-match Mateo Kovacic. We lament Tammy getting injured and discuss the (cough) rehabilitation of Kepa Arrizabalaga. In Part two we ask what is Tuchel scared of as Chelsea’s second half performance dropped off to the extent that we fielded 9 defensively minded players at home to a ‘depleted’ Newcastle. Why are Chelsea still profligate up front; are we dull to watch and watch out, it’s about to get a whole lot tougher! In part three JK and Chidge read out the emails sent in by our faithful listeners this week. We're back and yet to record an episode after a loss under Thomas Tuchel. Here we covered the fortunes of Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Timo Werner and Olivier Giroud. We also went in deep on how Tuchel continues to get the best out of Mason Mount and where the Englishman should fit in under Gareth Southgate.
In today's episode of Let's Talk Chelsea I react to Jacob Steinberg's piece in the Guardian reporting that Chelsea will try to hijack Real Madrid's move for David Alaba, who is set to leave Bayern Munich on a free transfer, as Thomas Tuchel makes plans to reinforce his defence this summer. Reflecting on Chelsea's win over Tottenham on Thursday night, the brilliant performances of Mason Mount, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp addresses comments made by Frank Lampard following Chelsea’s 5-3 defeat to the new Premier League champions at Anfield. Chelsea boss Lampard clashed with the Liverpool bench during Wednesday’s match after Andre Marriner adjudged Mateo Kovacic to have fouled Sadio Mane. Trent Alexander-Arnold scored from the resultant free kick. And after the game Lampard told Sky Sports: “For me, it wasn’t a foul from Kovacic, and there were a lot of things that weren’t going our way. But I’ve not got a problem with Jurgen Klopp. The way he’s managed this team has been fantastic. Fair play to Liverpool Football Club, they’ve won the league, but also don’t get too arrogant with it. That was my point, but it’s done.” Klopp responded to those comments at his press conference today to preview Liverpool’s final game of the season at Newcastle United on Sunday. The Reds manager also responded to captain Jordan Henderson winning the Footballer of the Year award and reports suggesting Dejan Lovren is on the brink of an £11m move to Zenit St Petersburg. The Liverpool Echo sends a twice-daily Liverpool FC bulletin out via email with the all latest news, views and analysis from Anfield. The Matchday Live team look back on the night's Champions League action and we hear from Mateo Kovacic, Frank Lampard, Virgil van Dijk and Carlo Ancelotti.
3. Derfor mangler Raúl stadig en del for at opnå samme status som Cristiano Ronaldo i Real Madrid. Bag mikrofonerne har I som altid værten Oscar og panel-deltagerne Jesper, Christian og Daniel.
As Tottenham close in on the club-record signing of Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, the panel examine the impact he could have at Spurs next season (2:12). They also discuss Chelsea's potential signing of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic and where things stand on Frank Lampard's expected return to Stamford Bridge (9:28). Ben Ransom joins the show to provide an update on Manchester City's pursuits of Leicester defender Harry Maguire and Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri (15:00). With Benfica's highly-rated attacking midfielder Joao Felix set to join Atletico Madrid, Portuguese football expert Felipe Dias explains why he is worth £112m as well as providing insight into what the future may hold for Premier League target Bruno Fernandes (29:50). Finally, the panel discuss where Manchester United may look to strengthen next after clinching a deal to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace (43:05).
In this bonus podcast, Euan McTear speaks to 2 colleagues in the Spanish capital about Real Madrid after Los Blancos suffered 7 days of their worst nightmares: being knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Barcelona, then losing in LaLiga to Barcelona and finally (and perhaps most shockingly) throwing away a 2-1 away first-leg advantage to crash out of the Champions League to Ajax.In part 1, Euan and Robbie Dunne pick apart the week of woe, why it's gone so badly wrong, they discuss how much head coach Santi Solari is to blame or how much he has been let down by his players, and how much pressure is now on the Madrid president Florentino Pérez to take the right steps going forward. In part 2, Euan speaks to Kiyan Sobhani about the Real Madrid loanees who are at other clubs, including Mateo Kovacic and Theo Hernández, but also the likes of Oscar Rodríguez at Leganés, Borja Mayoral at Levante and Raúl de Tomás at Rayo Vallecano. So how bright could the future look for Real Madrid, and who is likely to return to the Bernabeu and force their way back into the first team?
