Whether you call him Shaq, Diesel, Shaq Diesel, or DJ Diesel, Shaquille O'Neal is one of the greatest players to ever step on a basketball court and a true American treasure. So much of his success as a player and personality stems from the three rings he won alongside Kobe Bryant in L.A, despite their tumultuous alliance. But, what if Shaq never moved out West and instead, stayed in Orlando? Do the Magic outrun the Bulls and speed up the last dance? Does LeBron never take his talents to South Beach in a newly configured Eastern Conference? And would we never have witnessed the cinematic masterpiece, Kazaam?! This week on It Was a Thing on TV we're Shaqtin' a fool while going places at the top of the heap. First, there's an old saying in Hollywood: “Write what you know.” Two Hollywood writers did that & after that didn't work, they turned it into a family sitcom. That didn't work either. See what happens when four actors spend 19 weeks… “Going Places”. Next, spin off your network's most popular show? Makes sense. Spin off your network's most popular show with characters who have made only a few appearances, and they weren't memorable? It's a disaster waiting to happen. Top of the Heap was the bottom of the barrel material. Finally, In the past, we have paid respects to Hulk Hogan commercials, Ric Flair commercials, and our annual favorite of hometown commercials. This week on Albummer! we listen to the surprisingly palatable first rap album by basketball icon and fossil fuel appreciator, Shaquille O'Neal. This episode is brought to you by the 47 products Shaq is currently the spokesperson for.
We can't lie, this week's episode is quite visual, but as Mo will tell you, we're still bringing the vibes. The first two segments will also be on YouTube in the next 24 hours if you want to see what they're chatting about. NBA 75 – Favourite Jersey: Jayde asks (whilst rocking his ‘Shaq Diesel' Magic number) Mo and BJ to run through some of their favourite jerseys from NBA history. Did That Just Happen (10:46): We take a look at some of the craziest moments from the past month – mad dunks, LeBron's whack on Beef Stew, Steph cooking and more! Primetime Preview (21:49): The guys get their predictions on this weekend's games. Magic @ Clippers is on Arena, Mix and Main Event at 8.30pm on Saturday night, followed by Warriors @ 76ers on Mix at 1.30am. Then at 5pm on Sunday, we've got Bucks @ Knicks on Arena and Sky Sports Youtube, which you can watch right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jn1mhYl-exU Court Case – Portland should trade for Simmons (36:00): What started as Portland should trade Ben Simmons for CJ McCollum turned into they should also trade Damian Lillard! Extra (51:31): Mo explains why you shouldn't compare Dame to Steph Curry.
More than any other single person, one man towered like a colossus over all forms of media in 1994, the subject of It Happened One Year's slam-jammingest eighth episode - Shaquille O'Neal! Sarah & Joe explain how this episode ballooned from a mere nugget of trivia into a gold rush of stories surrounding the then Orlando Magic center - from his wildly successful gold and platinum rap albums (Shaq Diesel and Shaq Fu: Da Return) to his less well-received video game, from his hit autobiography to his popular appearances with World Championship Wrestling. '94 Shaq was possibly the greatest Shaq of them all! And no discussion of The Diesel in 1994 would be complete without a lengthy look at his co-starring role in the volcanic basketball epic Blue Chips, starring Nick Nolte, J.T. Walsh, Mary McDonnell, and Ed O'Neill! The movie's bravura showcase of slam dunks, Larry Bird's sub-par acting, Coach Bell's moral ambiguity, and the opening five minutes being possibly the greatest in film history are all given their fair due. IHOY presents, at center, 7'1" from LSU, The Big Aristotle himself - Shaquille O'Neal!
We back with another episode of the TIGER DRIVER 9X podcast! This week we take a look back at the insane week of wrestling that featured Bobby Lashley winning the WWE Championship from the Miz. Today is Shaquille O'Neal 's Birthday! What do you know about Shaq Diesel?
Opening Monologues. President Trump Rocks CPAC. A two-hour tour de force of swagger, bravado, policy prescriptions and spontaneous humor. Cicero of our time? Orator of the century? Ready indeed for MAGA 2020. Nick Gillespie says Trump may have already won the 2020 election, given there is simply "no potential candidate in the Democratic Party who wouldn't be absolutely blown off the stage by him." In the shadow of the failing Socialist state of Venezuela, Trump slams the Socialism of today's leading Democrats as a push for more "power for the ruling class." Trump makes quick work of the Green New Deal: "Darling, is the wind blowing today?" In an especially moving interlude, conservative college student Hayden Williams joins Trump on the CPAC stage after having been assaulted by bully Leftists in Berkeley. Taking a punch to Make Campuses Great Again. Plus, our take on Colorado Democrats undermining the "norm" and "precious institution" of the Electoral College. Yet another unconstitutional power grab. Also, vignettes on visiting Shaquille O'Neal in Chicago. With Listener Calls & Music via Johnny Cash, Redd Volkert, Giorgia, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Mazzy Star and Shaq Diesel. Blige); and Motown's last superstar (Rick James). His critically acclaimed VIBE blog Full Clip has featured career-dissecting interviews from a who's who of music legends ranging from Erykah Badu to Will.i.am. Chip-Fu is no stranger to the realm of hip hop music. As a radical member of a platinum-selling hip hop group the Fu Schnickens, his intricately interwoven flow left us all light headed, exhausted and wheezing for more. Get ready to inhale again, because Chip's back with a breath of fresh air for the entire industry. The trials and tribulations of life, love and music helped Chip conceive his latest project titled M.A.T.H (Music, Appreciation, Art, Time and Healing), The New Curriculum. Though his style remains on the cutting edge of hip hop, as a solo artist Chip has much more room to be creative. Reggae music is evident throughout the entire work and Chip's natural talent interblends both worlds instinctively. After collaborating with Shaquille O'Neal on the platinum album "Shaq Diesel", Chip gained a stronger sense of passion for the music business. This led him to establish his own company BLAQ-INK Entertainment. The production team gives up and coming artists direction and an avenue to cultivate their abilities as performers. Wisdom and responsibility also leads Chip to speak on two important topics: the paths he chose in life and the musical roads that need to be repaved in the industry. Music should be seen as a never ending jigsaw puzzle composed of intricate cut outs, says Chip. Additionally, Chip touches daily issues, which are not necessarily the wish lists many artists prefer to muse about. We'll learn more about Chip, his business moves, and the right steps for an independent artist on this show.
