Hi everyone!I'm really thrilled to announce that my guest this week is Gavin Rossdale from BUSH!With over a billion streams, 20 million albums sold, and continued sold-out shows around the world in iconic venues and massive arenas, BUSH has truly earned their place in rock history. Since their explosive debut back in 1994 with Sixteen Stone—which sold six million copies and gave us iconic pop classics like “Comedown,” “Machinehead,” and “Glycerine”—they've been unstoppable. Their follow-up, Razorblade Suitcase, produced by Steve Albini, hit #1 on the Billboard charts and went triple platinum, with the single “Swallowed” topping the charts too. Over the years, BUSH has racked up an incredible 23 consecutive Top 40 hits on the Modern and Mainstream Rock charts—six of which hit #1!We kick things off chatting about what fans can expect from BUSH's current tour across Canada, the US, and Europe—and having just seen them live, I can vouch the show is packed with wall-to-wall hits and stage energy that's off the charts! From there, Gavin shares his love for life on the road and what it means to still have such a powerful connection with fans after all these years. We then dive into BUSH's upcoming album, I Beat Loneliness, which explores themes of mental health and personal growth—something Gavin talks about with real honesty and insight. We shift gears to talk about the current rock scene, his passion for tennis, and how his brand new cooking show, Dinner with Gavin, came together.Enjoy as I also feature the current single “60 Ways to Forget People” along with clips from some earlier albums. UP NEXT -Ian Thomas! He's a Juno Award-winning singer, songwriter, film composer, author, and actor. I dive into his incredible career, starting with his 1973 debut album Ian Thomas, which gave us the classic hit Painted Ladies. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

We finally get around to talking about Bush and dive into their first 2 records: Sixteen Stone and Razorblade Suitcase. Released only 8 months after the death of Kurt Cobain, the music world was split between fans that wanted to move on from grunge, and those that were highly protective of it's legacy and culture. Bush got caught somewhere in the middle, seeing commercial success on one hand and scorn from devoted grunge heads on the other. But decades removed from the era, the 2 records stand out amongst the slew of grunge copycats that came and went. For a time in the ‘90s, there was no band on earth bigger than Bush. Their debut album, “Sixteen Stone,” had singles that were in heavy rotation on MuchMusic, MTV and every rock radio station. That record also turned singer Gavin Rossdale into a star. Ahead of Bush's cross-Canada tour this spring, Gavin joins Tom Power to look back on the band's early days, what it was like breaking out of Britain when they didn't sound like any other Britpop band of the time, and what goes through his mind when he hears “Glycerine.”
Gavin Rossdale celebrates the 30th anniversary of Bush's 'Sixteen Stone,' discusses why he wanted Steve Albini to produce it and teases his band's next album.
Today I sit down with Singer Songwriter, Gavin Rossdale from the band Bush. Gavin and I sit down and talk about the 30th Anniversary of their massively successful debut album Sixteen Stone. Gavin Rossdale is one of my favorite people to talk to and we got to chat about a bunch of things this time! We got into BUSH coming to the Let's Go Music Festival and their upcoming summer tour, 30 years of the first album 'Sixteen Stone', the competition between bands, why you should take the time to see everyone you can at a festival, different generations of Bush fans that you see at the shows, their greatest hits collection 'Loaded', how much he loves being in the kitchen and how great ice baths are!
This episode we take a look at the band nobody in the UK seemed to give two you-know-what's about, Bush and their debut album Sixteen Stone. We delve into the origin of the band, lead singer Gavin Rossdale's life & times, question if the band are in fact Day 1 for post-grunge and try to work out how this album sold 6x platinum in the US but barely scraped a silver cert (60,000) in the UK. All of this lovingly wrapping in wrestling-centric metaphors seductively delivered straight into your ear hole. Gavin Rossdale and his band Bush were at the forefront of the grunge movement in the 90s. Their debut album Sixteen Stone was a huge success, selling over 6 million copies. Almost overnight, Bush went from playing pubs in London to headlining arenas across the US. But before that, during a time when Britpop was dominating the British airwaves, Rossdale struggled for years to find success. In this episode, Gavin talks with Guy about being bullied while growing up in England, and how learning how to channel his anger into music helped him create one of the most commercially successful bands of the 90s.Links from the show: Gavin Rossdale in MidnightSixteen StoneMan on the RunTickets for Bush's TourLoaded - The Greatest HitsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Gavin Rossdale of Bush joins me to discuss many things in his world, including the Greatest Hits: Loaded 1994-2023. He told me why now, and how it was something he didn't really want to do. He spoke to the latest single and video, "Nowhere To Go But Everywhere". In the video, he goes back in time to 30 years. I asked him if going back to the start of Bush was done on purpose "It was absolutely on-the-nose intentional." See the video below. He also talked about being in a band that's sold 24 million albums. "I would've died of shock" had he'd known he'd go on to sell so many records. How did they pick the songs for the greatest hit album? How will the band celebrate the 30th anniversary of the debut album, Sixteen Stone, next year? Gavin gives some answers to those questions. "I love it!" he responded when asked about his music appearing in movies. Does he have any acting projects in the works right now? "Not really, my plate is really full." He's got his foot into other projects including a cooking show, which he's been working on for years, and other stuff. We got into the writing process of the band. He's pretty much the guy. "Yeah, you only need one idiot in the band like me." One of the most interesting things we talked about was what influences him now. He mentioned metal-core and specifically Bad Omens. "They're really crafting stuff well and making songs interesting." We wrapped things up with Gavin giving props to the Detroit crowds. He loves playing here. -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown-2/

Gavin Rossdale of Bush talks to The Gunz Show about the upcoming 30th anniversary of the band's Sixteen Stone album. The post Gavin Rossdale (Bush) appeared first on idobi Network.
Bush had an unbelievable debut with 1994's Sixteen Stone that eventually surpassed 6x platinum status. The post-grunge juggernaut continued making moody, mercurial, and sometimes menacing music has continuing mutating while keeping them modern with a total of nine full-length releases with 2022's The Art of Survival as their most recent chapter. The band's headlining Ryman tour stop was furthering their support for the October 2022 release where the camp invited PG's Chris Kies onstage to catalog their compact setups. Guitarist Chris Traynor starts the chat covering his instruments that run the gamut from import steals to one-off custom baritones with and without frets. The baton gets passed to Gavin Rossdale tech Trace Foster who covers the frontman's arsenal of Strats, SGs, and Jazzmasters before breaking down Rossdale's core patches living within his Fractal Audio FM9.Brought to you by D'Addario XPND.
Today, with special guest Emily Greene, we dive into an album of Lance's choosing. From 1994, the debut album of British rock band Bush titled Sixteen Stone. With 5 of the 12(ish) tracks getting serious radio play, it's no surprise that this is the episode that Veronica has been looking forward to the most.

This week on The Rider we have two massive artists who both have some incredible new music out. First up, Orianthi who is about to release her next new album, Rock Candy. We talk about why she didn't do an album with Prince, after he offered (but songs recorded with him are in a vault somewhere), how she has kept her Aussie accent after 17 years in LA and of course what is in her rider. Tequila??? Then it's a chat with Gavin Rossdale from Bush. It's his 2nd appearance on The Rider after coming to Australia for "Under the Southern Stars" and at the time revealing he had a new album in the works. "The Art of Survival" is out now and it's incredible. Check out the first 3 tracks, it will blow you away. Gavin reveals how Bush have stayed true, even after their family lives have changed so much since their debut, "Sixteen Stone" and what advice his kids have given him. This is The Rider with Becko and Orianthi .... and Gavin Rossdale from Bush
Gavin Rossdale is the co-founder and frontman for the rock band Bush. The Art of Survival, Bush's ninth studio album, is out Oct. 7. Its first single, the politically minded "More Than Machines," has been a mainstay on the band's set on tour with Alice in Chains and Breaking Benjamin. About half the set is sourced from the 2020 album The Kingdom. The group's smash 1994 debut album, Sixteen Stone, which is certified six-times platinum in the U.S., is also well represented in recent concerts. Gavin, who joined Behind the Setlist from somewhere in Michigan, talks about the financial difficulties of touring in 2022, playing the role of a "baby band" as the tour's opening act, addressing political and social issues in song lyrics, the joys of playing cover songs and the much more. Bush have been a mainstay on the rock scene from the moment hey released their debut album Sixteen Stone in 1994.The album spawned the singles Glycerine, Comedown and Little Things and announced Bush as the new saviours of rock after a period of dominance by the grunge movement.Since then Bush have consistently bettered themselves with each release, altering their style and approach only marginally but still noticably with every album.Following the critically acclaimed 2020 release The Kingdom, Bush have once more achieved the unthinkable and ramped things up another notch with the imminent release of their ninth full length album The Art Of Survival. It is an album that sees Bush rehash familiar territory in parts, but also break new ground sonically with a subtle sprinkling of harder edged rock throughout the album. This was hinted at with the albums lead single More Than Machines, followed by the explosive opening track Heavy Is The Ocean, both of which provide a small glimpse into the inner mechinisms of The Art Of Survival.Frontman Gavin Rossdale sat down with HEAVY to talk about The Art Of Survival which will be released on October 7."I'm thrilled to share it and be part of the landscape of rock, whatever that means in 2022," he smiled. "We've had a good run of playing shows and coming down to Australia for a couple of years now and it will be fun to add a new record to the setlist. It has a kind of rebirth quality about it, weirdly enough, and I don't know what that is. It's the whole thing of finding a new version of yourself. Not reinvention because it's still my stupid voice and stuff like that, but more like where do we go to make sure it's inspired and electric and vital and I think that's what we found. That space to be in. You don't even need the catalogue or know anything about Bush. Just play the record from start to finish and think cool, I wasn't expecting that."In the full interview Gavin talks more about the album musically and what they were going for, the heaviness of some of the songs and where it comes from, approaching each album cycle from a fresh viewpoint, the early days of Bush and what sort of musical climate gave birth to the band, Sixteen Stone and its breakthrough success and more.
This episode originally aired on Oct. 29th, 2020. Steve Cooper talks with musician Gavin Rossdale. Gavin is best known for being the front man of the rock band Bush. With a discography that includes such seminal rock albums as 1994's 6x platinum-selling Sixteen Stone, ‘96's triple-platinum-selling Razorblade Suitcase and ‘99's platinum-selling The Science of Things, Bush has sold over 20 million records in the U.S. and Canada alone. They've also compiled an amazing string of 23 consecutive Top 40 hit singles on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts. Eleven of those hit the Top 5, six of which shot to No. 1: Comedown, Glycerine, Machinehead, Swallowed, The Chemicals Between Us and The Sound of Winter and they just released a deluxe edition of their latest album Kingdom. Gavin has also tried his hand in acting being seen in movies such as Constantine and The Bling Ring and in TV shows including Burn Notice, Hawaii Five-0 and Criminal Minds. Don't let the days go by! In episode 3, we do a lyrical deep dive into the hit Bush song, Glycerine, written by Gavin Rossdale and from the album Sixteen Stone. TW: sex, war/violence, and drug use
Episode 10, so we are 20% of the way through Season 5 and 2022. The show aired on 10 Mar 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio. It kicked off with what could possibly be one of the greatest show starting songs ever written, a track called 'Invincible', brand new from Eddie Vedder off his Earthling album. It has an incredibly uplifting feel. If I were a movie director I would be pulling it into my movie damn quick. Anyway, that was the start and we followed up with an ode to the post-covid economy in the wake of the Ukrainian disaster called 'All Revved Up With No Place to Go' courtesy of Meatloaf. From there we meandered through some early Queen to two great albums, Sixteen Stone. and Throwing Copper, both released in 1994, by Bush and Live respectively. A highlight was taking in a 60 min blast of energy from Arch Enemy. The track is titled 'The Leader' (Of the Fucking Assholes) and was originally written by a band called Shitlickers out of Gothenburg in the '82 - '84 era. I dedicated it to those who send troops into neighboring countries to kill civilians to fulfill their own worldview. Rory Gallagher and Joe Bonamassa took care of the blues. The Stranglers and Stiff Little Fingers did the same for UK Punk. The SA stuff was handled by Blue Scream and The Burning and towards the end of the show Piet Botha with 'Van Tonder'. The Blue Scream track is special as it features Roger Kaye who passed away in 2013 and was one of the finest musicians I ever met. Roger was at school with me and had a huge influence on my musical journey. You can find out more about him in my book The Story of Rock and Roll which is available on Amazon Kindle and in hard copy. In order to build Roger's legacy, I post any episode of TSORR featuring him to the Roger Kaye Facebook community. We went heavy with Parkway Drive and Arch Enemy and then had a lekker mellow ending which was a bit different and pretty cool. Hope you enjoy it, catch you next episode. PS. For the record, I made a comment that although my German is non-existant I figured that I was pretty certain that Rammstein's 'Fruhling in Paris' meant woman or lady in Paris. Once again certainty is the enemy it means Spring in Paris Artists featured: Eddie Vedder, Meatloaf, Queen, Bush, Live, Kane Roberts, Disturbed, Mastodon, In This Moment, Sons of Liberty, L.A. Guns, Massive Wagons, Arch Enemy, Rammstein, Scorpions, Stone Sour, Rory Gallagher, Joe Bonamassa, Motörhead, Led Zeppelin, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, Billy Bragg, Josh Todd & The Conflict, Sammy Hagar & The Wabo's, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Blue Scream, The Burning, Van Halen, Parkway Drive, Arch Enemy, Neil Young, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Piet Botha. The Edgar Broughton Band, The Killers

We had the pleasure of interviewing Gavin Rossdale of Bush over Zoom video! “Nothing is better than doing what you love,” says Gavin Rossdale, and the Bush frontman knows from experience. For near three decades, the musician has been a perennial presence in the annals of rock music — an intellectual and emotional, albeit occasionally misunderstood creative, forever with a hard-charging rock n’ roll heart. Now, with The Kingdom, Rossdale and his band enter a new phase of life, and the singer comes armed not only with a ferocious new album, but also a sense that he’s on his life’s correct course. Music has always been a release for Rossdale, and now as he reflects on a career that’s seen Bush sell close to 20 million records in the U.S. and Canada alone — as well as compiling an amazing string of 23 consecutive Top 40 hit singles on the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock charts, six of which shot to No. 1 — he says that passion remains the same. That’s exactly what Rossdale is doing on The Kingdom. The album features some of the most potent songwriting of Rossdale’s career, highlighted by the pummeling “Flowers on a Grave,” as well as the noise hurricane “We Are Quicksand” which finds him showcasing a vulnerability like rarely before. In many ways, with Bush’s new album, Rossdale is creating the type of music – and the world – he hopes to see. As he explains, The Kingdom is a utopic ideal – a reaction to a world full of “judgement and self-righteousness and mob mentality and where everyone knows better than everyone else.” “The Kingdom was this place that I imagined where likeminded people could go and be free and artists and musicians and painters and people could think for themselves and don’t hold any judgement over anyone else,” Rossdale offers. Rossdale has been around the music business long enough to know it’s about steady growth and sustained creativity. Many years back, not long after the band came roaring out the gate with towering back-to-back smash albums, 1994’s epic six-times platinum debut, Sixteen Stone and 1996’s triple-platinum Razorblade Suitcase, “I took away all the expectation and pressure from my career,” Rossdale explains. To him, ever since, it’s never been about “fitting a sound or fitting a moment. I just don’t feel any of that. Maybe in the past,” he concedes. “But I feel like we’ve always had to work for what we have. We don’t take anything for granted. We’ve never had any kind of particular free ride. That’s a healthy thing.” With The Kingdom on the horizon, yet another chapter in a multi-decade career is set to unfold. And Rossdale is feeling undeniably gratified. “I have an incredible life and I have scaled huge walls of music and done so many amazing things,” he notes proudly. The best part for Rossdale? “I’m still right in the middle of it.” The Kingdom is available now! We want to hear from you! Gavin Rossdale from Bush is our special guest this week, … on tour Under The Southern Stars, Live, Bush and Stone Temple Pilots in April, … all celebrating the 25th anniversary of their respective breakthrough albums, Sixteen Stone, Throwing Copper and Purple, Gavin tells us about taking his dog on tour, and on occasion his three young sons Kingston, Apollo, and Zuma.

Gavin Rossdale, frontman of Bush and friend of WMMR, called Pierre Robert after the single "Bullet Holes" was featured in John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. They talked about the making of that track and its video, what to expect from the new Bush album (due out this fall!), the anniversary of Sixteen Stone, and when the band will return to Philadelphia!

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale rings up Kyle Meredith to discuss his reunion with Constantine co-star Keanu Reeves. Together, they discuss the new John Wick 3 soundtrack, particularly how lead single "Bullet Holes" traces back to Sixteen Stone deep cuts "The Bomb" and "Testosterone". On a similar note, Rossdale considers the album's 25th anniversary, revisiting his time opening for David Bowie while singing about him every night in "Everything Zen". They also double back to 1999's The Science of Things for its 20th anniversary and look ahead to a new record on the way. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
In Jordan's inaugural episode as a regular co-host, we look at one of the first post-grunge albums ever. In this episode, Mike is joined by his child, Maren, and Brad Niekamp--former President of the Coldwater Community Picnic. Mike and Brad discuss his role with the event, how The Wet Bandits ended up on the 2017 band lineup, and Bush's 1994 release: "Sixteen Stone".
Dan and Bob are BACK in the garage! And what better way to celebrate the new era of Throwback Pods than by revisiting Gavin Rossdale's hit-filled 90's monolith "Sixteen Stone" -- an album that wasn't respected by critics... or roughly 50% of the people in the garage. If you like listening to super-hot dudes talking about other super-hot dudes, then this is the episode for you.
Josh joins us once again to run through the nonsensical(or ARE they?) lyrics of "Little Things." Katie assumes that everything she doesn't understand must be drug slang. And we get into the dietary habits and pseudo-cannibalism of Gavin Rossdale. This is a song we like off of an album we all love...even if we don't get it.
