The series is a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its eponymous family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Video games based on the series have reached multiple platforms since their debut in 1991. The Simpsons' first video game release, The Simpsons, developed and published by Konami, saw a release on the Commodore 64 and DOS, while Bart vs. the Space Mutants (1991), developed by Imagineering, expanded the franchise into new platforms, including the Amstrad CPC, NES and Master System. Over the next few years, the franchise would continue to expand, releasing system-exclusive games, such as the PC's Cartoon Studio (1996) and the PlayStation's The Simpsons Wrestling (2001). The release of The Simpsons Game (2007), developed by EA Redwood Shores (Visceral Games), further expanded the franchise, appearing on new platforms including the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. ________________________________________________________________________ Grab a beer, a slice of pizza and come hang out with us. And I can look passed the flaws in their video games most of the time because of that love. But Bart vs The World is the suckiest bunch of video game suck that ever sucked. It has the DNA of my beloved Bart vs The Space Mutants in it, with the crappy jump mechanics, awful hit boxes, and boring levels. But it adds a bunch of lame mini games that take up like 60% of your play-time, and leaves you wishing you were playing in the deepend of the sandbox with Ralph Wiggum instead. My buddy David Rae makes his return to the show this week, and unlike most of his episodes that involve talking about great NES games, this one brought us both down as deep as Timmy O'Toole in that damned well. And before we "vs the world", I deliver another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone hits me with a play one/remake one/erase one based on games featured on The Simpsons cartoon. What Pokemon would I want to have in real life? And what's a better name: Sega Genesis, or Sega Mega Drive? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 Simpsons NES games: Krusty's Fun House, Batman Meets Radioactive Man, and Bart vs The Space Mutants. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Happy Friday, Maniacs (Sorry, Tim)! The Sega Mania Podcast is back with more of what you love from the guys you tolerate. Well, less of them this time as it's a five-man pod. It's just a little Steve and Sam-less, it's still good, it's still good! First up, we chat about the long-ago promised Game We Missed: M.U.S.H.A. This blistering vertical-scrolling shooter gets a proper going over by the lads, with a hefty inserted discussion on how expensive retro games are these days, and the most we've personally ever paid for one. The rankings return with easily the worst batch yet, as we crowbar the following stinkers in somewhere near the bottom (and move on, as Rob would say): Kid Chameleon, Klax, TaleSpin, Road Rash II, Bart vs. The Space Mutants, and WWF Super Wrestlemania. Ok, so Klax and Road Rash II are alright. Lastly, we have a listener question asking us what our favourite games ever are and why. If you want to ask us a question, please send them in to podcast@sega-mania.com. Don't forget we have a Patreon too, where you can support us for a whole heap of cool rewards and listen to an exclusive 'Meet the Maniac' episode all about our beloved Rob Kirkup. The Simpsons was laying the stage for the rest of 90s pop culture before the decade even began, and in 1991 they took their first tentative steps into the gaming arena with not one, but two different titles. Yes, everyone and their best mate will remember the arcade heavy hitter, but this week Chris and Ashley are playing a slightly lower key entry in the form of The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants. Released across multiple consoles, the game sees Bart attempt to repel a full-on space invasion mostly with a can of spray paint. How does he do? Listen in to find out! In this episode of Talk About Games, Mike Matei and Ryan talk about Infernax and The Simpsons: Bart Vs the Space Mutants on NES. Thanks for watching Talk About Games, where Mike Matei and Ryan each bring a game to the table and talk about them every Friday! They'll cover everything from retro classics to indie titles to modern new releases. It's a discussion about video games by lifelong fans.
The video game market can be unpredictable, and the last year has proven that even well-founded leaks are unreliable in the face of global chip shortages. Even so, we try to read the tea leaves about what's coming in 2022. Five years into the Nintendo Switch, will there be a successor? How will NFTs impact gaming, if at all? Will Sean finally beat Bart vs. the Space Mutants, and stop making us all suffer with live streams? Vinnk and Sean try to use their powers of anti-prognostication for good for the coming year, which apparently includes Sean finding an Xbox Series X less than a week after recording this episode. What other good things will come from this recording? We also enjoy not two but three games for our Pile of Same and Future Retro segment. The Ghoulcade continues as I discuss my time with Bart vs. the Space Mutants. The second Simpsons game of the podcast. How terrifying is this NES game? I feel like I've been teasing a 'Bart vs The Space Mutants' episode of this show since we started it. It's not a great game, but I played it religiously as a kid, and I have a weird soft spot for it and it's many, many, many faults. I wasn't able to set up a regular episode of the show this week, so I'm rolling solo, and finally gushing about my favourite bad game of all-time. I gotta say, I'm a little shocked that so many people played this one back in the day. It was one of the first Simpsons video games, it released during Simpsons-mania, and maybe we hasn't realized that buying a Simpsons game in the 90's was akin to burning your money. Or singing it, anyway (shout out to anyone that gets that reference). And before we talk about Bart looking for purple coloured items, it's time for another edition of the 'Remember The Game Infamous Intro'! This week, we talk about Nintendo 64 games coming to the Nintendo Switch, because like it or not, a lot of people are talking about it. We also talk about what difficulty setting we normally play games on, and is it reasonable to have high expectations for the new upcoming Ghostbusters flick? PLUS, we have another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', featuring some of the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked - Bart vs The World, Bart's Nightmare, and Virtual Bart. Are you on social media? Of course you are. So follow us! Twitter: @MemberTheGame Instagram: @MemberTheGame Facebook.com/MemberTheGame Twitch.tv/MemberTheGame
Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss the Simpsons NES Trilogy (Bart Vs. The Space Mutants, Bart Vs. The World, Bartman Meets Radioactive Man) with Dan Kitchen, Game Designer on those titles and many more! Featuring puzzles, platforming, and a look that is rather successful at recreating the show on a 8-bit platform, these games are better than one might remember. After the interview, Mat, Thrasher, and Alex discuss the loads of Simpsons video games they've played over the decade aside from the NES titles. The Simpsons Arcade Game is a fun take on the beat-em-up genre (Final Fight, Streets of Rage). While the quality of gameplay varies for later titles like Bart's Nightmare or Virtual Bart, most of these games have imaginative levels and fun art (Bart is a pig! Throw tomatoes at Principal Skinner's ass!). Two more obscure Simpsons titles of note are the walking simulator Virtual Springfield and the Grand Theft Auto knock-off Hit & Run. CityBillyHowl'sRockin' Renegades(From Outer Space)With some of the best Rockabilly, Psychobilly & Punk Rock(And Whatever the Alley Cat drags in) The Rockabilly scene in it's genesis was unique. In the early years of the 1950's Rockabilly was alot like Punk - Rockabillies were some of the only, primarily white musicians (and their fans), sometimes Latino as well, who at that time, rejected the Establishment's refusal to play Black music on the radio (or display it on TV) -- which the Status Quo called "Race Music" -- the Rockabillies (sometimes mistakenly called "Greasers" or "Teddy Boys") loved this African-American music so much that they began to form their own bands and cultivated their own DJ's and Juke Joints to highlight Rock & Roll and they didn't call this brilliant music "Race Music" -- they called it what it was and still is -Rock & Roll And their version of Rock & Roll with a Southern accent, with musicians like Rusty York, Hasil Adkins, Laura Lee Perkins, Peanuts Wilson, The Maddox Brothers and Rose, who brought that "Hillbilly Boogie" that would synthesize with Black music and become known as Rockabilly. What would visitors from a distant galaxy think of this new development of sound and communication, would these Little Green Mensch see the Rockabilly musicians & fans as Rockin' Renegades or see them as another step forward in Evolution for mankind that would cause these Music-Loving Martians to climb down from their Flying Saucers and do the Ubangi Stomp ?Featuring all of the best by :Billy Lee Riley (Arkansas)Blackie Jenkins (Mississippi)Buck Trail (Miami)Connie Allen (Tennessee)Dell Vaughan (Flint)Delta 88 (Exeter)Dick Robinson (Boston)Frenzy (Bristol)Gene Vincent (Virginia)Jackie Fautheree (Arkansas)Jackie Lowell (Denver)Jimmy Stewart (Tennessee) Joe Carson (Memphis)Klingonz (Dublin)Koffin Kats (Detroit)Les Vogt (Vancouver)Marcel Bontempi (Kassel)Omar Romero (Los Angeles)Radarmen (San Gabriel Valley)Red Elvises (Los Angeles)Ronnie Dawson (Texas)Rumble Club (Kentucky)Screamin' Jay Hawkins (Cleveland)Stressor (Tula)Terry Dunavan (California)The Barnshakers (Helsinki)The Epileptic Hillbillys (Sheffield)The Guana Batz (Feltham)The Guitaraculas (St. Petersburg)The Krewmen (London)The Magnetix (Tula)The Phenomenauts (Oakland)The Polecats (London)The Radium Cats (Edinburgh)The Raymen (Berlin)The Rezillos (Edinburgh)The Saucer-Mens (Toul)The Spastiks (New York)The Test Pilots (Gothenburg)The Velvetones (Texas)The Wild Tones (Orlando)Three Bad Jacks (Los Angeles)Three Blue Teardrops (Chicago)1.) (That's "The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner" if you're nasty.) Four—count 'em, four!—companies make their NES debut here before going on to become third-party pillars of the platform. 3-D WorldRunner comes to us courtesy of Squaresoft (they of Final Fantasy fame) and Acclaim (they of, uhhh, Bart Vs. The Space Mutants infamy). Sky Kid is a Namco/SunSoft joint. None of these companies should need any sort of intro for anyone who has a decent familiarity with the NES, and this is where they both get their start on the U.S. side of the console. Nothing inspiring here, but these are the seeds for greater things.
Don’t have a cow man! Because there wasn’t a more popular character in pop culture in the late 80’s/early 90’s than Bart Simpson! This is one of the original Simpsons games ever released for the Nintendo. Obviously in the early 90s The Simpsons were hugely popular! So no doubt everyone was all over this Nintendo game. That being said, does it hold up? Is it any good? We will find out! Because we are about to dive into the Delorean, as we punch it to 88mph as we go BACK TO THE NINTENDO!! Happy holidays and welcome to our first legitimate bonus podcast! Broadcast from a secret backroom clubhouse within the Eat My Shorts Studio office space, Irvin and Nacho are joined by Adam Reyna to reminisce about Bart Vs. The Space Mutants, the old Nintendo Entertainment System video game. The three share their experiences with the notoriously difficult 8-bit classic, and spend some time talking about Garfield, chiptune music, the Papa John's Pizza restaurant's apology to its customers, and all the bullies Adam beat up in elementary school.
Don't have a cow, ARGonauts! We're diving into the retro gaming library that makes up our favorite yellow-skinned family The Simpsons. Returning guest Bill Gardner joins us to talk about the good (and downright awful) titles based on the long-running show. We even have plenty of responses from listeners like YOU that we read on the show. Let us know your favorite Simpsons games in history also at our Discord. We kick off with the news on the reveal of a Battletoads game for Game Boy that was completed, but never released. We then get into some Switch-centric news on Nintendo stating how they'd like 20-30 new indie games released per week, and a special edition for the Toki remaster that will please arcade fans. Then we take a look at an amazing fan-made trailer for the PS4 Spider-Man game that gets our old school bones tingling. The Stage of History this week feeds our yellow fever with Bart vs the Space Mutants and The Simpsons Arcade Game. Robert then hits the mat with Simpsons Wrestling in Obscura. Be sure to grab our game code giveaways for Aftergrinder and Dungeon Stars, then stick around for another round of Random Select! Who could Robert be this time? The Simpsons have popped up in a lot of videogames over the years, and as much as we kind of want to jump straight to Hit & Run we figured we should stay era-appropriate for the moment and look at some of the family's first forays into the land of joysticks and D-Pads. Bart vs. The Space Mutants is a fairly forgettable title, but The Simpsons Arcade is notable for its weird twists on Simpsons lore and its willingness to outright kill one of the show's main cast (how do we account for their continued presence after this, too?)Twitter: @KeySpringfieldFacebook: facebook.com/podsinthekeyofspringfieldInsta: podsinthekeyofspringfield

When The Simpsons took off like a rocket in its first few years, it was only a matter of time before someone scooped up the video game rights. And that "someone" in this case turned out to be Acclaim, those notable purveyors of trash who introduced the concept of "buyer's remorse" to generations of gamers. On this special Talking Simpsons crossover episode of Retronauts, join Bob Mackey, Henry Gilbert, and Chris Antista as the crew thoroughly explores Bart vs. the Space Mutants, the strangely ambitious but all-around bad production that taught us all to be forever suspicious of Simpsons games. This week we review S.01 E.11 of the Super Mario Brothers Super Show - Mama Mia Mario/The Great BMX Race. Joe: The Atlantis Factor for the NES might say otherwise.
Jake, Eric, Garrett, Zac and special guest Bryan Abou Chacra talk about bizarre dating sims, Ninja Gaiden, Resident Evil, Bart vs the Space Mutants, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers (why?), Metal Gear Rising, pre-E3 stuff, Mad Max. We also learn about the birds and the bees...or just birds maybe..Episode 10 - Harry Potter and the Crippled Bitches (Hatoful boyfriends unite)
