About: There are many modern day video games that take big inspiration from the retro era. Sometimes this is in the form of the art style, gameplay, music or a combination of the three. These are some tracks from games that owe their identity to the ones that came before, but still remain new and unique experiences in their own right. Artwork: Shovel Knight 00:00 - Strike The Earth!
In every medium where superheroes exist, there are characters that spoof the genre. Some, (like the Tick), carry their own parody comics & shows. But others exist within the world of their property (as a show within a show) where these meta heroes are enjoyed by the already fictional characters of that property (like Radioactive Man is to Bart Simpson). So, up and atom, gentle listener, because in this episode, we gonna cover it all! Crammed in between is an Octoponders where we ask you to get creative and come up with a parody superhero of your own! And later on, Parasite Steve covers the ninja-tastic Cyber Shadow on another installment of Retro Nouveau. ----------------------------------------Retro Ridoctopus is:• Parasite Steve (read)• 8-Bit Alchemy (listen)• Nintenjoe (subscribe)----------------------------------------All original heavy metal music by Enchanted Exile Retro Ridoctopus is part of the Dorkening Podcast Network, the Inebri-Art Podcast Network and is brought to you by Deadly Grounds Coffee!

This year has seen a ton of triple A releases that have dominated sales charts and come to define the year in gaming thus far. What has been missing, however, has been the top tier indie games that have been seen in years past. This year has, of course, HAD indie games with things like Trek To Yomi, Nobody Saves The World, and Weird West getting attention from press outlets and Nintendo having its indie showcase just over 2 weeks ago. However, just last year, by this point we had Cyber Shadow, Olija, Habroxia 2, Anodyne 2, Loop Hero, Mundaun, Before Your Eyes, and that's just a few of the indie games to have come out. So with the relative lack of quality titles this year and a relatively nice lull in triple A releases coming right now, we thought it would be the best time to talk about some of our favorite indie games so that you, fine listener, can maybe try theme during the relative slow period of gaming this year.

This week Dudley has drank the Kool-aid on the GME stocks stuff. Dan has finished Carto and used 8 guns at once in Rayka. Dudley played Donut County and Hitman 2. Dan goes back to give Morrowind another play and Dudley goes back to Civilization 6. They both struggle a bit with Cyber Shadow without a controller.
Let Pat walk you through what the heck is going on with the Gamestop stock, and Konami halting video game production, but not really. The boys talk about playing Cyber Shadow, The Medium, and Josh plays Haven, Pat plays Donut County, The Touryst, Call of the Sea, and Stoy plays F1 2020, and jumps back into Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Joel and Jacob are back as just the two beans to talk everything with Yacht Club Games' newly published game, Cyber Shadow, while Joel has been playing Atelier Ryza 2. But don't stop there, because a Joel and Jacob duo podcast would be nothing without a 45 minute interval to talk about anything but video games, so they chat about the state of wrestling. Also, Joel's gotten into the finance sector and poorly attempts to explain how the stock market is working.

Train levels are a pretty well-worn trope by this point; start at the caboose and fight your way up to the engine, all in a linear, narrow environment that allows for some variety as you move from car to car. As frequently as we've seen these, some are a lot more memorable than others, and a few even do something unique with the idea. So let's look at five of our favorites this week, after which we'll look at Cyber Shadow, try to understand the GameStop stock situation (as of Wednesday), and talk about your favorite everyday items to use as weapons in games.
