After a couple of big-hitting blockbusters the last couple of weeks, Patreon JAC has remained we stay grounded with the little-known cult movie Tammy and the T-Rex. "Tammy and the T-Rex," a film so bonkers you'd think the creators were on a week-long bender, was directed by Stewart Raffill. The story behind this 1994 madness starts with Raffill and producer Diane Kirman discovering a fully operational animatronic T-Rex gathering dust in Texas. Seeing a golden opportunity for cinematic lunacy, Raffill churned out a script in a week, featuring a brain transplant that turns a bloke into a dinosaur. They then filmed the whole thing in three weeks flat, probably because they were worried someone might come to their senses and shut the whole thing down. The cast included a young Denise Richards and Paul Walker, who, bless his soul, is no longer with us. Richards played Tammy, keeping a straight face through scenes where she's meant to be romancing a bloody dinosaur, while Walker had the unenviable task of making us believe he was a human stuck in a prehistoric puppet. They shot it all around sunny California, with the production as chaotic as you'd expect. Critics initially tore it to shreds, but over the years, "Tammy and the T-Rex" has found a cult following who appreciate its sheer, unapologetic insanity. It's a reminder that in the world of movies, sometimes the crazier the idea, the more memorable the result. Checkout JAC's LetterBoxd review here: https://boxd.it/6suS21. "Le Classico" de Sébastien Ministru : "Les Souffrances du jeune Werther" de Goethe. « Werther.

The Ice Pirates is a 1984 American comic science fiction film directed by Stewart Raffill, who co-wrote the screenplay with Krull writer Stanford Sherman. The film stars Robert Urich, Mary Crosby and Michael D. Roberts; other notable featured actors are Anjelica Huston, Ron Perlman, Bruce Vilanch, John Carradine and former football player John Matuszak. The film was made at MGM, then under David Begelman, with John Foreman as producer. It was originally called The Water Planet and had a $20 million budget. However, as MGM was in financial difficulty, its bankers put a limit of $8 million on all films. Raffill said he would have to rewrite it and make it more comic, and they agreed. Rafill and Foreman said pirate movies like The Crimson Pirate were the main inspiration and they deliberately did not watch Star Wars. This was Trent's pick. Trent had not watched the movie since it's literal release in 1984 when he was 13 years old. Needless to say, it wasn't the same viewing experience this time around...   Here for the Reels is a part of the SnackStudios podcast network. An animatronic dinosaur with human consciousness meets a Calvinist true believer in our season 2 premiere! Men have problems! They're being mauled by lions, injured in oil rig accidents, flattened by steamrollers, and even separated from their very bodies, having their brains placed in a retired theme park attractions. How will the women in their lives fix them??? These are just some of the challenges that Denise Richards, Paul Walker, Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgard face in Stewart Raffill's Tammy and the T-Rex and Lars Von Trier's Breaking the Waves. It is TJ's episode and it also happens to be his birthday-ish - and our special boy picked one of his favorite movies of all time; 1988's Mac and Me. Directed by Stewart Raffill and starring Christine Ebersole, Jonathan Ward, and Tina Caspary alongside Lauren Stanley and Jade Calegory. A box office bomb and universally hated by critics, partly due to ripping off E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, as well as its elaborate product placement of McDonald's and Coca-Cola - and of course, TJ loves it. People often ask what media we hosts enjoy when we are not watching horror schlock for this show. Jake's all time favorite YouTube channel is https://www.youtube.com/c/YourDinosaursAreWrong Luckily, we get a chance to speak with host, Steven Bellettini, on this week's episode and discuss what dinosaur he thinks would be scariest. We also touch on tokusatsu, animation, and our other obsessions. We then have the thrilling pleasure of discussing Tammy and the T-Rex, or Tanny and the Teenage T-Rex, depending on who you ask. The film was film directed by Stewart Raffill and written by Raffill and Gary Brockette. Raffill's grandson, the late, Paul Walker, stars as a kid who gets his brain put in a dinosaur robot for nefarious purpose by Terry Kiser as Dr. Gunther Wachenstein. Denise Richards plays the titular Tammy. She is joined by Theo Forsett as Byron Black, who is a scene stealer in the film. We talk about how the film came to be, other films of the genre, and touch on some of the inaccuracies of the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Also, our wonderful host, Adrienne, just released her first book, Last Call: A Toxic Love Story. On occasion, they bring in guests. This month, Matt takes advantage of Josh's relative enjoyment of Mac and Me to pull out another Stewart Raffill film! They sat down in the SFP to take in the majesty that is Mannequin: On the Move. Yes, the sequel to Mannequin, starring the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kristy Swanson. Will Josh enjoy another Stewart Raffill film, or will he cast a curse upon Matt, causing him to live a life of plastic for 1,000 years? Plug in your headphones, and let these two jokers fill your earholes for the next 32 minutes! Hand-to-groin contact, a bloody brain transplant, and a Denise Richards striptease– the gore cut of the 1994 b-movie Tammy and the T-Rex DVD was well worth our wait. The hosts take on the plot of the classic sci-fi film in which Paul Walker transforms into a tyrannosaurus rex by a strange scientist after being mauled by a tiger and left for dead by a murderous (high school) biker gang whose leader is in love with Tammy, played by Shiterion favorite Denise Richards. The hosts also discuss tokenism, Coppola's The Outsiders, b-movie tropes of the 1980s, and theorize about whether Paul Walker is the grandson of Tammy director Stewart Raffill (who also directed the McDonalds film Mac and Me).    This last episode of Season 2 of The Shiterion Collection is dedicated to the late Paul Walker. Mac and Me.   On this episode we speak to British screenwriter and film director Stewart Raffill. Raffill made his feature debut as director with The Tender Warrior (1971), starring Dan Haggerty. Raffill also helped write and produce, and handle animals. It was shot at the Okefenokee Swamp in Georgia. Raffill sold it to Warner Bros, was unhappy with what they did with it, bought it back, and re-distributed it. His second script was Napoleon and Samantha, which he sold to Disney. Raffill also worked on the film, which starred Jodie Foster and Michael Douglas, as a producer and animal supervisor. He wrote and directed When the North Wind Blows. He shot animal footage for the documentary Wonder of It All. Raffill directed and wrote Mac and Me, made to provide royalties to the McDonald's Foundation and to have a lead with spina bifida, which became a cult favorite and won Raffill a Golden Razzie for Worst Director Please support the Mark and Me Podcast here https://www.patreon.com/Markandme

Now that Autumn has fallen upon us, you’re permitted to savor the flavor of the season — so grab a bowl of Pumpkin Spice Frosted Flakes and settle in for 77 minutes of fun in past, present, and future tense on this episode of TechnoRetro Dads (where time-traveling takes a clever and curious turn in the 1984 sci-fi spoof Ice Pirates).    In the NEWS Henry Cavill may still be super after all! The Monkees’ Christmas album is coming soon! Jordan Peele takes Rod Serling’s place! TechnoRetro Dads apparel and merch at TeePublic!   We Love Our Cereal… …and cereal flavored donuts from a certain fast food chain.  Yep, shazbazzar taste-tests the Froot Loops mini donuts from Hardees and the results are in!  The Roving Spoonster reports with monstrous cereal/adult beverage mash-ups and Kellogg’s acknowledgement and correction to their sexist marketing.  PLUS: EarBuds tell about what’s in their cereal aisles and JediShua discovers the next fall flavor trend at Cereal Box, Inc. Of course, the discussion deteriorates into the scourge of the season, pumpkin spice, with a few undocumented “memories” of how the flavor imbedded itself into pop-culture over the decades on TV, radio, and the big screen.   Ice Pirates In the far flung reaches of outer space in a distant future, a band of private entrepreneurs embark on a quest to open convenient $2 ice shacks along the space lanes in Ice Pirates.  Actually, no, that’s not the plot of the campy Stewart Raffill flick from 1984 that continues the trend of pushing the limits of what audiences will pay for at the box office on the heels of Return of the Jedi.  Starring Robert Urich, Mary Crosby, Michael D. Roberts, and more familiar faces from the mid-80s, Ice Pirates threatens to raid your freezer while pillaging your wallet to cash in on the continuing craze for space-movies combined with a taste of Police Academy comedy. SuperFriend Adam O’Brien (The Fantha from Down Under) joins shazbazzar and JediShua for a chat about Ice Pirates with some stunning revelations about how the movie came to be the campy ‘80s spoof we remember from childhood.  Can you believe that Ice Pirates was initially slated to be a serious attempt at a science fiction film?  Find out how and why the script was altered to become classic camp that still elicits a laugh with its illicit humor aimed squarely at teenage boys in 1984.  Target acquired: it’s a hit!    Thanks for tuning in to TechnoRetro Dads, EarBuds!  Keep sailing the high seas (and space lanes) with Ice Pirates and share us with your friends and families.  Don’t forget to rate and review TechnoRetro Dads on iTunes, share us and with us on social media, get TechnoRetro merch at TeePublic, and join discussions on Discord about toys, cereal, games, movies and/or shows from the ‘70s and ‘80s by giving the ‘Dads your feedback via voice mail at (209) 878-7323 or sending us your mp3dback via electronic-M to podcast@TechnoRetroDads.com.   Share and enjoy.
