Today we have a special guest, Dr. Jade Teta who I'm calling the Metabolic MASTER. This guy has worked with SO MANY people on improving metabolic profiles in person and online using his HEC in check system as a baseline. Now what is HEC? Hunger, Energy, Cravings. These are some of the 3 areas you feel altered when you're in a calorie deficit for a period of time. Dr. Teta says that usually after 7 days or so, that feel good state you experience in a cut basically goes away as your body is trying to compensate for the stress (calorie deficit) you've placed upon it. A big question I get asked often is: How much mobility training do I need? Do I have to stop my strength training all together to do mobility training? The answers are: it depends and definitely not. Today we have Dr. Trevor Campbell on the show talking about pain! We've had a ton of great content specifically about pain and Dr. Campbell brings yet ANOTHER perspective on pain. This perspective deals with the pain narrative specifically and how it applies to improving pain symptoms. Dr. Campbell has a few tips if you are in pain! Check those out below! 1. Learn about chronic pain the disorder/disease, rather than just seeing it as an unpleasant, ongoing symptom. 2. Activate both physically and socially (more exercise and more time with family and friends). 3. Don't let your pain narrative only be filled with negative things. This is what eventually becomes your constant internal dialogue and can torpedo your efforts. 4. Learn to reduce your stress level through exercise in nature, mediation, music or whatever helps you relax. 5. Get a few sessions of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to show you how unhelpful thinking can negatively impact behavior and mood while more helpful thinking improves your situation. Doing something a little different on this Monday! Starting a positive focus series where I take you into my morning routine. Every morning I practice analyzing a certain situation, finding the positive aspect of it and then the lesson behind it. I then apply that lesson to my body, mind, relationships and business to improve ALL aspects of my life, DAILY. I got this technique from Cody BoomBoom and it's VERY effective. It's basically re-programming your brain to perceive situations and scenarios differently. You THINK differently.  You practice finding the positive in things DAILY. And it's not toxic positivity where you fake being positive. You're actually taking the time to analyze the scenario and FIND the positive piece, not just fake it. TKL62: To Stretch Or Not To Stretch

Yes, you should stretch! It feels good and it helps lengthen your tissue that can then be strengthened with intentional mobility training. The reason this podcast came about was from a question I received during a Q&A. Specifically the question was asking what stretches I did before a workout. I rarely do passive stretching before a workout. What I do do is activation. That's key to lifting safely and effectively firing what you want on command. We are more connected than ever. Social media has us "closer" than ever before. By closer I mean actually farther away because we're always in our phones and not enjoying each other's company in person. Unplugging from social media also includes texts and emails too! I put my phone on airplane mode and just left it to the side this weekend to hang out with my friends at BBQs. It was phenomenal. One of the best stress relievers I've ever done.
