It's 40 years since ‘Baby John' was found naked, shoved between rocks, with his tiny neck broken, on White Strand beach in Cahersiveen, Co Kerry. There were 28 separate knife wounds on his body, most of them shallow, hesitation wounds, in which the knife was pulled back at the last second. A local couple, who were arrested on suspicion of murder but released without charge, have denied they are the child's parents. Host: Fionnán Sheehan. Songezo Zibi of Rise Mzansi is telling John Steenhuisen, the leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), not to be a “cry baby” over his decision to challenge the DA in the Western Cape. “This is not personal,” he says. Zibi has also assured the business sector that there is no need to fear land expropriation and BEE. In an interview with BizNews, he explains the party's stance on land expropriation, stating that his position aligns with South Africa's constitution, which allows for land expropriation with compensation, similar to cases involving mines or dams. He dismisses claims of supporting a land grab. Zibi dissects the party's BEE policies and differentiates between the cronyism practiced by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) and Rise Mzansi's aim to empower those who have been left out. His party is aiming for at least 12 to 20 Parliamentary seats. Zibi also comments on criticism of his support for South Africa's genocide case against Israel, stating that Rise Mzansi cares about the lives of all humans, whether they are Israeli, Palestinian, or Ukrainian.

Almost 40 years ago Baby John was found washed up on White Strand beach in Cahersiveen, Co. Kerry. The crime was pinned on local woman, Joanne Hayse. The case quickly became a national scandal, with intense media coverage and public outrage. Joanne Hayes was arrested and charged with the murder of the baby found near Cahersiveen. However, as the investigation continued, it became apparent that there were serious flaws in the case against her. The case sparked a nationwide debate about the treatment of women in the criminal justice system, particularly those who were unmarried and pregnant. The Kerry Babies case remains one of the most controversial and fascinating cases in Irish legal history, and it continues to be studied and debated by academics, journalists, and citizens alike.

A man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s have been released without charge, following their arrest this week in connection with the death of a newborn baby boy in Kerry in 1984. It's almost 39 years to the day since Baby John, as he was later named, washed up on a beach near Cahersiveen in Co. Kerry. But the delay in making a potential breakthrough in the case is down to the mishandling of the initial garda investigation; where misogyny, harassment and brutality led to the scapegoating of innocent woman, Joanne Hayes. The infamous Kerry Babies case is one of the darker chapters of our social history, and the details can scarcely be believed today. Especially by a younger generation which has grown up in a liberal society where unmarried mothers are no longer incarcerated, LGBT people can marry and divorce and abortion are now allowed. Dr Mary McAuliffe, historian and director of the UCD Gender Studies Programme, outlines the astonishing facts of the case, and believes our legal system still hasn't fully learned the lessons of those dark days. Today's Reading: Luke 1:39-56Daily Lectionary: Joshua 7:1-26; Acts 10:34-48 "For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy." (Luke 1:44) In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Pebble-sized preborn Jesus makes His way to visit His cousin, His forerunner, the one who will make His paths straight. At Mary's arrival, the other bitty baby, John, hears her greeting. But certainly this was so much more than a simple " Hello." Certainly this greeting had all of the trappings of a teenage girl blathering out every last detail of the past few weeks as fast as she could: the angel Gabriel, Joseph's initial and then secondary response, her simple reply in faith. Surely these are the words that John hears.Baby John leaps for joy: a little baby leap with little baby legs, exuberantly kicking at the walls of his fleshy abode. At six months gestation, John is in the exact place that a person of his size should be, both physically and spiritually. It is there, in that place, that Jesus, His Savior comes to him. Imagine that: The salvific Word of God is so authoritative that it can produce faith in the heart of an unborn child, through the simple greeting of a woman who is merely recounting the events of the recent past. But it was in the recounting of these events that the proclamation of the Incarnation took place. God's plan of salvation, taking form in tangible ways and being spoken of in real time and space. It is through this proclamation that John and his mother are brought to faith. And it is this faith, this objective faith in the Incarnation God for the salvation of mankind, that John is going to proclaim to the nations 30 years removed from that first Gospel encounter. With tender words, John is going to speak words of comfort to the people of Jerusalem, to you and me. Our warfare is ended. Our iniquity is pardoned. Every crooked place is now straight, every hill brought low, every valley brought level, every obstacle taken away. The Savior is coming, even as a speckle-sized dot floating down Mary's fallopian tubes. That dot is God in the flesh. That dot is the Savior of the world. That dot is Jesus the Christ, and He has come that we might receive from His outstretched and crucified hands double for all our sins. In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Almighty God, You chose the virgin Mary to be the mother of Your Son and made known through her Your gracious regard for the poor and lowly and despised. Grant that we may receive Your Word in humility and faith, and so be made one with Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Collect for the Visitation)-Rev. Eli Lietzau is pastor of Wheat Ridge Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheat Ridge, CO.Audio Reflections speaker: Rev. Duane BamschCome on an adventure with author Eric Eichinger as he unpacks the saga of Jesus' Hero Journey. The presence of Christ produces pure and true worship.

It’s been a few years since we shared stories from Broadway’s superheroes: the swings. These actors have some of the most challenging jobs in theatre. “Hero” might not be each of their middle names - but they are definitely the superheroes of Broadway. Christopher Rice spent more than four years as a swing on the Broadway production of The Book of Mormon, where he covered the seven men in the Mormon ensemble. He’s also toured the country as Baby John in West Side Story and in Irving Berlin’s White Christmas. Chris has spent this summer as a vacation swing on the soon-to-close Broadway production of Pretty Woman, so we caught him in the middle of his rehearsal process to tell us what the experience has been like. Everyone is searching for joy. Not just the fuzzy happiness of Christmas time, or the things in life which disappoint and melt like snow, but something more lasting, something that endures the tears of life. Where can we find it? Baby John, jumping in the womb for joy at the presence of Jesus tells us to call off the search: Jesus is real joy. And he brings us real, lasting, death defying joy by being our saviour.

All that leads to a song about life from the perspective of John McClane's tank top (NOT wife beater), and then a salty tune called "That's What She Said, But She Don't Say That Any More". At that point, we fight each other with our words: AdGRod at War.
Luke, Rich and GG Dave are joined by local Morts expert Baby John to talk about their changes for S4 and how they see them playing this season

The Setting Trick: Conversations with World Class Bridge Players
I first met Migry at the Phoenix NABC in the Fall of 2013. Shortly thereafter I received an email from Christina Lund Madsen asking if I wanted to hire her and Dennis Bilde for the 2014 World Mixed Teams Championship. My only concern became finding a female partner. Christina suggested Migry and thus a great friendship born. Migry is no shrinking violet! She has been a best friend, confidante, substitute mother, bridge partner and sounding board ever since we had lunch together on January 27th, 2014, her birthday, in New York City. We agreed to play the Mixed portion of the world championships together and after coming in 12th in the platinum pairs the entire 2014 World Bridge Series and cycle. I have had some of my best results partnering Migry. She is a pleasure to play with and has a fantastic sense of humor. We love to laugh together. She continues to have great one liners, such as at the when I asked her about playing the Nickell team in the recent Vanderbilt. "We are not here to kibitz the opponents." I have spent countless evenings at her New York City apartment talking about bridge and life with her and her equally delightful husband Pietro Campanile. Our partnership almost never got off the ground because I had such difficulty understanding her on the phone initially. Migry did express concern about this for our listeners when I first asked her about doing the interview. One evening, over dinner, a waitress asked Migry what language she was speaking. Migry handled it with her typical grace and aplomb. Through our time playing together Migry has graciously introduced me to countless friends of hers throughout the bridge world who I am now lucky enough to call friends as well. I am grateful that at no point during the interview did she call me by my one time nickname, "Baby John," and consider this an excellent sign of my increasing maturity.

The Jets vs. The Sharks are back for another rumble at The Paper Mill Playhouse production of West Side Story running June 1- June 26. Host Robin Milling goes behind the scenes to chat with the cast. Michigan born Mikey Winslow (On The Town) as Riff began his career on Broadway dancing in the ensemble of the 2009 revival of West Side Story. He tells Robin, “Working my way up to the gang. I was Baby John, Big Deal; I played Action and now here I am. Maybe someday I'll play Officer Krupke!” Natalie Cortez reprises her role as Anita. In the 2009 Broadway revival she was cast just after having her first child. She recalls, “Just do West Side Story to lose baby weight! I have a 10-month old so I'm dancing off the baby weight this time too!!” German Alexander (2010 national tour of West Side Story) describes his take on Bernardo. “He plays against his situation either through jokes, humor, or sex. Anything that gets in the way of his relationship with Anita, with Maria is a threat to him just like the Jets are.” Spring Awakening star Matt Doyle is a newcomer to the Jerome Robbins classic. He says, “I'm talking middle school, high school; I've never done it. I somehow always missed the boat. I'm excited for the opportunity to finally get to play Tony, and hopefully not too late!” Belinda Allyn played Maria before at Riverside Theater in Florida, reuniting with choreographer Alex Sanchez at Paper Mill. She says the story still has incredible relevance and needs to be told to reinforce it's theme of intolerance. “The moral of the story is to not hate and that lesson still hasn't been learned in the world.”
Michael Vaccaro. For those of you who know him, that is probably all you need to hear, because you know about his NYC origins, his having grown up under the influence of television in the 70s and 80s, and his first movie role when he was 8 in that Robert Altman film. You know about his being Baby John in...
