"What's your greatest lesson on romantic relationships?" is a question I've asked on her in most every episode. This week with the help of a few favorite guests, I attempt to answer it. It's the first time in 12 years that I've ever done a brief episode... brevity is not my strong suit so don't get used to it.... but I hope you like it! It features: Kristin Hanggi, Cody Cook-Parrott, Robyn Kanner, Rachelle Robinett, Jessica Ciencin Henriquez, Mari Andrew, Jon Marro, Neada Deters, and Yoke Lore. Let me know if you listen : )Show Notes:- Breakups Kits !! + + physical zine version! a la cart here or come to the relaunch event in LA EVENT (!!!) at NOTO on 2/27! In honor of Valentine's Day it's an episode about what I know best: romantic love… just kidding it's about breakups! It's a variety show from 2019 where I compiled all of the times (up until then) I spoke with guests on how heartbreak, grief, and sadness can lead to growth. I play some of my favorite clips from my conversations with founder of To Be Magnetic, Lacy Phillips, herbalist at Supernatural, Rachelle Robinett, author Sara Avant Stover, dancer and writer Cody Cook-Parrott, illustrator Mari Andrew, Yoke Lore, and more ... it sounds like a bummer of an episode but it was actually optimistic and even dare I say funny? Then I react to hearing their advice 5 years later, talk about if I took it and what has happened since…Show Notes:- Breakups Kits !! + + the physical zine! I just printed more copies of it and you can get one here or come to the relaunch event at NOTO coming up on 2/27! Today's Song of the Day is “Hallucinate” from Yoke Lore's album Toward a Never Ending New Beginning, out now.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Yoke Lore over Zoom video!Los Angeles based indie pop project Yoke Lore, the solo musical venture of Adrian Galvin, released his debut full-length album, Toward A Never Ending New Beginning, out everywhere now via Yell House Records.Yoke Lore's first full length album, Toward A Never Ending New Beginning, solidifies Galvin as an indie pioneer, transcending beyond the genre with his unparalleled talent for captivating listeners with his distinct artistic vision and introspective lyricism. The album chronicles his journey of turning strengths into weaknesses, personal growth, and discovering who Yoke Lore truly is. It's an album full of reflection and raw, unfiltered honesty that will most definitely connect with listeners on a deeper level. Combining electronic beats with subtle instrumentation, each song on Toward A Never Ending New Beginning is sonically diverse and thoughtfully crafted debut body of work. The album's opener, “Cruciform I,” instantly establishes the reflective tone of the album with the first line, “I don't wanna set myself on fire to keep you warm.” Over the course of the next 13 tracks, Galvin explores themes of love, loss, reckoning with overwhelming emotions, and the journey we take to become the best versions of ourselves. The album invites listeners to embark on the journey of self-discovery along with Yoke Lore, from the fears of ruining something good in focus track “Enough,” to disrupting the norm in single “Shake” to being comfortable with loneliness in “Alone.” The final track, “Protégé,” concludes the album on an optimistic future-facing note, leaving listeners reflecting on their own future and the positivity it holds. Galvin describes the album as an act of resistance and revolution. “I don't want to be attached to my doubts,” he says. “To be rich is to be saved, to be poor is to be doomed. You could achieve wealth and thus salvation by accumulating enough wealth and if you weren't making that your express purpose in life then what the hell were you doing? I see art and love as a rebellion to this idea, I also see the exploration of self doubt as a rebellion to this idea. I see the acceptance of failure as a rebellion against this idea. And thus I see Yoke Lore as a way through it. Toward a never ending new beginning.”Prior to the release of Toward A Never Ending New Beginning, Yoke Lore released standout singles such as “Goodpain,” “Chin Up,” and “Beige,” which earned him an RIAA Gold certification. With over 450M+ streams to his name and tours across the globe under his belt, including a recent run with Goth Babe, Yoke Lore has garnered a loyal fanbase and widespread acclaim from both critics and fellow musicians alike and established himself as a notable force in the indie scene. We want to hear from you! Today's Song of the Day is "Shock Flesh" the new single from Yoke Lore, out now.
We had the pleasure of interviewing Brick + Mortar over Zoom video! American alternative rock duo Brick + Mortar released “Mystery to Myself” in October. It was the second single from their upcoming project.. The song's massive sound fits its momentous universal theme - it's about the realization that you don't recognize yourself and you don't know who you've become, but you urgently want to find yourself again. The distorted synths and varying vocal tones lend to the tormented feeling of the lyrics. Lead singer Brandon Asraf sings “I try to believe in myself, to love myself, but the truth that I know is / I can't love who I don't know, and I'm a mystery to myself”.About Brick + Mortar:Brick + Mortar aren't another punk band or completely polished pop act: B+M are organic. You've probably heard of them before from a friend deep in the music scene, urging you to listen to “their favorite band nobody knows yet”, or perhaps you caught a glimpse of their set at Lollapalooza in 2013 and were so captivated by their live set that you stopped to listen. Their shows are ridiculous, but their songs have a message. Brandon Asraf is the man behind the music, drawing inspiration from his youth filled with anxiety, depression, and the social complexities of being the son of a con man. He has lived a life stranger than most, allowing his songs to paint a picture of his journey through every lyric. Brick + Mortar was born on Brandon's little brother's couch, with his buddy John Tacon; a big experiment with small expectations. In 2012, the duo signed to Mad Dragon Records at Drexel University with the opportunity to be featured on Making Moves, a 7-inch record produced by Motion City Soundtrack. Three records, multiple festival appearances, and countless tours later (including runs with The Front Bottoms, Yoke Lore, The Unlikely Candidates, and Anthony Green), Brick + Mortar have perfected the art of blending the authenticity and emotion of a one-on-one living room performance with an over the top, Flaming Lips-esque visual performance. In 2020, the band was inspired by the racial injustice happening in America, leading them to release their single, “American Reality”. This song showcases the direction the band will be going in, both lyrically and musically, with their new project. Throughout the years, their goal has stayed the same: to make the music their hearts and minds lead them to make, while hopefully inspiring people along the way. They're just glad that you listen We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing The National Parks over Zoom video! Folk-influenced male/female indie pop band The National Parks has released the official music video for their latest single, “Live Til We Die,” off their recently released album, A Mix For The End Of The World – Part 1. The fun and colorful visual, directed by Cameron Gade with cinematographer Spencer Goff, sees the Provo, UT-based quartet take a step back in time to a 1980s-style late night talk show. On the heels of the album's release earlier this month, The National Parks successfully launched their very own curated festival experience, Superbloom Music Festival, on Saturday, October 9th . The first-ever event took place under the stars near Zion National Park at Sand Hollow Resort in Southern Utah in front of a soldout crowd of nearly 2,000. Created by the band as a celebration of life and music set amid a beautiful location, Superbloom featured performances from Yoke Lore, Joseph, Joshua James, Ellee Duke, Brother. and Arbour Season before The National Parks closed out the day-long extravaganza. A Mix For The End Of The World – Part 1, released October 8th, marks the first half of the independent band's two-part digital-only project, which will see Part 2 released in early 2022. The 8-track collection, recorded at June Audio and produced and mixed by their longtime collaborator Scott Wiley, also features the singles “Headlights,” “Summer Bird” and “UFO,” the latter of which was recently featured on Ones To Watch's Now Playing playlist. A Mix For The End Of The World follows The National Parks' critically acclaimed 2020 album Wildflower and continues to showcase the band's sonic evolution and lead vocalist/guitarist Brady Parks' deep and heartfelt songwriting. Since emerging in 2013 with their introductory album Young, The National Parks — Brady Parks [guitar, vocals], Sydney Macfarlane [keys, vocals], Cam Brannelly [drums] and Megan Parks [violin] — have quietly grown into an independent phenomenon with roots embedded in blissful pop, cinematic electronics, organic orchestration, and rock energy. The four-piece has racked up over 150 million total streams, sold out headlining shows across the country, toured with Andy Grammer, Peter Bjorn and John and WILD, and performed at KAABOO Del Mar, SXSW and CMJ. A tradition of this podcast is that every season we have at least one episode that could be called a “beautiful ramble.” To me, that signifies the magic of podcasting, where you can hear someone share their thoughts and processes in a way that bounces tangents in a way that real-life conversations do. My guest today is my friend Adrian Galvin (aka Yoke Lore, a singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist who views creativity in an all-encompassing way. Together we chat about how he sees music and we also delve deeply into his experience of scoring the film, Pink Skies Ahead (written and directed by Kelly Oxford).

As broadcast May 10, 2021 with extra square footage on the tunes for podcast ticketholders. We mark the 40th anniversary of release for an album that truly saw the future for what it was, as on this date in 1981 "Computer World" was released by the forever future quartet, seeing a reliance on the digital doohickeys as both infecting the world and their sound, ruminating on the potentials very accurately. After that, we didn't see Yejin in the studio this week, but in spirit we rocked a great playlist of new tunes just out, with Alfie Templeman, Iceage, chemical club, and other worthies appearing in a (dare we say it?) quality two hours of music radio.#feelthegravityTracklisting:Part I (00:00)KRAFTWERK – Computer WorldAlfie Templeman – Wait, I LiedJake Bugg – Lost Cheat Codes – Lean On MeKALI – Too TiredIceage – High & Hurt Part II (31:29)Cuco – ForevermoreTOLEDO – DavidYoke Lore – SeedsEmpress Of – One BreathBeau – You're No FairMadi Diaz – Nervouschemical club – Arm's Length Part III (59:29)Albert Posis - Comebackblackbear - smile againBrye - I'd Rather Be Alone SHAED- DizzyAnitta - Girl From RioSarah Barrios & Eric Nam - Have We Met Before Bebe Rexha feat Travis Barker – Break My Heart Myself Part IV (89:31)Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds - We're On Our Way NowBillie Eilish - Your PowerLouis The Child - So WhatKara Marni - Twisted FantasyDonovan - Hurdy Gurdy ManAnne Murray - Snowbird Lynn Anderson - (I Never Promised You A) Rose Garden
Adrian Galvin is Yoke Lore. The artist, coming from the previous titles of Yellerkin and Walk The Moon, is pursuing his own sound and we’re all loving it. His newest single, “Sensitive Heart”, was released in early 2020 in collaboration with Jax Anderson and it’s groovy. Be on the lookout for the album coming soon!
It's episode 97 and the date ensures it's also the freshest TGN of 2020. For this first episode of the decade, the guys look back at their favorite experiences of 2019. A chatty retrospective, Jason and James recall fast cars, hiking in Wales, living like Fleming in Jamaica, new Jeeps, cameras aplenty, and some of the amazing people they got to meet and work with last year. The Rock'N Vino podcast sits down with BottleRock Co-Founder and Partner of BottleRock Presents Dave Graham about this year's line-up. Find out about what's new, what's happening, and what to expect from the year's festival as long as a breakdown from Coco and Mike on this year's line-up. NAPA — BottleRock Napa Valley producers today unveiled the lineup for the seventh incarnation of their annual wine country festival, held at the Napa Valley Expo between May 24 and 26—Memorial Day weekend. This year's lineup features a new twist with the festival featuring dual headlining sets each night. Friday includes alt-rockers Imagine Dragons and rapper Logic. Saturday has Neil Young and Promise of the Real, along with R&B superstar Pharrell Williams. Rootsy rock band Mumford & Sons and guitar virtuoso Santana will close out the festival on Sunday, May 26. The lineup again features more than 80 artists over the three days. "We've expanded the capability of the second stage," BottleRock CEO Dave Graham said. "We wanted to be able to attract some major acts to play the second stage at the same time the main stage was playing, and that's exactly what we did this year." The bill is rounded out by a slate of eclectic artists, including Sylvan Esso, OneRepublic, Flogging Molly, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Cypress Hill, Tash Sultana, Lord Huron, Big Boi, Bishop Briggs, Jeff Goldbum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra and others. Graham said the addition of Young is particularly meaningful this year. "Neil Young has not performed in the Bay Area, publicly, since the last Bridge School Benefit Concert back in 2016," he said. "What an honor for us to have a legend like him up on our stage." BottleRock will again feature it's culinary stage pairing celebrity chefs with musicians, actors and Bay Area luminaries cooking up unique dishes for festivalgoers, along with the festival's focus on the region's best food and wine. The culinary stage lineup will be announced in April. "This year, BottleRock is also a part of the prize offerings for [TV show] Top Chef, so the winner will get an appearance on the Culinary Stage this year," Graham said. Last year, more than 120,000 camp out to see performances by Bruno Mars, The Killers, Muse and others. Tickets go on sale Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the festival's website. Prices range from $359 for a three-day general admission pass up to $1,599 for a three-day Skydeck and VIP Viewing passes. Platinum Passes for BottleRock, which cost upwards of $4,000, are sold out. Adrian Galvin, aka Yoke Lore, explores how singing "In the Window" with his family as a child during Hanukkah opened his eyes to the deeply connective possibilities of music. And you'll definitely want to hear his theory about music and magic.

Yoke Lore is the project of the very talented Adrian Galvin. We had a chance to talk to him about growing up in New York and our mutual fanboy crush on Dan Carlin.
