It's No Rules November! That one magical time of the year when we break our 1000 views on Letterboxd rule. “State Of Grace” is the film that should have ensured the whole world learned how to pronounce Phil Joanou's last name. For reasons we will explore with guest co-host Zack Carlson…it didn't work out that way. Directed by Phil Joanou. Starring Sean Pean, Gary Oldman, Robin Wright, Ed Harris, John C. Reilly & John Turturro How is the world wrong about this movie? From Andras: I like “State Of Grace” more than “Good Fellas”. I wouldn't even make the comparison if the two films hadn't been released the same weekend. Oh sure…”Good Fellas” is a “better movie” but I like the actors in this one more and if I'm even twenty percent correct in my perverse opinion, this is a film all lovers of 90's crime dramas should re-assess, if only to appreciate the greatness of Robin Wright's performance with all these tough guys. Zack Carlson joins the final installment of our month of KIdmania, to celebrate Nicole Kidman’s performance as a haunted shell of a woman in this modern LA noir from director Karyn Kusama. Directed by Karyn Kusama. Starring Nicole Kidman, Sebastian Stan, Scoot McNairy, Toby Huss & Bradley Whitford How is the world wrong about this movie? From Zack Carlson: Good humans agree that we need more unique, intelligent, grounded movies with strong female leads, yet the world largely ignored Karyn Kusama and Nicole Kidman’s perfectly structured ice cold vengeance masterpiece. The world is wrong. Zack Carlson joins the show to discuss the second of Jonathan Glazer’s features, a delicate and disturbing masterpice in no small part thanks to a performance for the ages from Nicole Kidman. Directed by Jonathan Glazer. Starring Nicole Kidman, Cameron Bright, Danny Huston, Lauren Bacall, Ann Heche, Peter Stormare & Arliss Howard. How is the world wrong about this movie? From Andras: When it came out in 2004 audiences didn’t know what to make of Jonathan Glazer’s haunting and strange follow-up to “Sexy Beast”. The critical re-appraisal has taken a while but it is time to acknowledge this as one of the great film of its decade and one of Kidman’s highlights as an actor. Up next in my coverage of the 2017 Chattanooga Film Festival is: interview with Zack Carlson of AGFA and Bleeding Skull Mass Listeria and I were able to sit down with Zack Carlson and discuss genre films, low budget cinema, and the rescuing of movies that otherwise would have been lost forever. The AGFA and Bleeding Skull movies have been some of my favorite movies of the Chattanooga Film Fest for the last two years, so being able to talk to Zack was a highlight of the film fest for me. Between feature films, short films, partial films, and live shows, I saw 21 films at the Chattanooga Film Festival. So, be sure to follow me at gargylereviews.blogspot.com and at facebook.com/thegargyle to catch all of my reviews. And check out the overview episode that I did with Mass Listeria at masslisteriapodcast.co
When it comes to GLOCK, I don't buy into the idea of GLOCK Perfection. Instead I think GLOCK Versatility is more like it. GLOCKs are designed to accommodate versatility but even more important is the fact that there are folks out there like Lone Wolf Distributors that take GLOCK Versatility to a whole new level. Today I talk with Zack Carlson of Lone Wolf Distributors about their products, GLOCKs and life in general. I hope you enjoy this episode of the Safety Solutions Academy Podcast!

It’s a long time coming for this Your Stupid Minds Essential Viewing List (YSMEVL), but we finally got around to reviewing 1987’s resurrected martial arts masterpiece, Miami Connection starring Orlando’s own native-by-transplant son, taekwondo master instructor Y.K. Kim. The film received a second life when Alamo Drafthouse programmer Zack Carlson made a $50 eBay bid on a lark for the 35mm print. It was such a hit that the Drafthouse began distributing it, and it quickly became a cult classic. In the mean streets of Orlando, Mark (Y.K. Kim) and his contingent of best friends forever taewkondo students/orphans create Dragon Sound, a band with a positive message taking the local metropolitan area by storm. A rival band does not take too kindly to this, and after an unsuccessful martial arts fight with the club owner, decides to take its frustrations out on Dragon Sound. This does not go well, and the confrontation quickly escalates to gang warfare, biker involvement, kidnapping, and ninjas.

Even if you aren't a podcast kind of person, even if you aren't going to Fantastic Fest, you want to listen to Slackerwood Podcast #13. It's our funniest, most entertaining podcast to date, thanks to Alamo Drafthouse programmer Zack Carlson. Zack -- pictured above before being shot with a gore cannon at Fantastic Fest 2007 -- sits down with Jette, Jenn and Debbie to discuss festival events, the "giant man-Smurf" in Avatar, why he Twitters about Hitler, and other completely random and hilarious stuff.Helpful hint: When the end-credit music starts, don't leave the theater -- I mean, don't leave the podcast. You'll miss Samuel L. Jackson -- okay, not him, but something very amusing, thanks to our audio engineer Chip Rosenthal. Let me just say I had no idea that would be in there until I heard the finished podcast myself.Listen to podcast #13 now.
