Having launched his career as a DJ back in the late 90's, Timelock is renowned for his high-powered sets that combine techno, trance and house music. Timelock stands out as a figure of great influence on the Israeli trance scene; not only is he an esteemed Producer and DJ, but he is also the co-founder of BNE Records. This limited run series examines the influential artists that helped shape the world of EDM. In this segment we will be featuring German Musician and Producer  Harold Faltermeyer.  Harold worked with Donna Summer and Giorgio before he  caught his big  break with film director Martin Brest; who hired him to compose music for his film “Thief of Hearts” in 1984.  This opportunity opened the door for more high profile work. The same year he did the “Thief of Hearts” soundtrack he was hired to compose the theme for the 1984 film “Beverly Hills Cop”, starring Eddie Murphy.  Here is a listen to that track “Axel F”. Harold Faltermeyer's iconic hit, "Axel F", was one of the biggest breakthroughs in EDM music in the U.S., shooting to number three on the Billboard Top 100 Hot Chart. The interesting thing about this track is that Harold used three pieces of equipment to create this song; the Roland Jupiter-8, JX-3P and TR-808. He used the arpeggiator on the Jupiter to loop the complicated chords to be played with one finger. This song is still popular till this day. That's it for Vinyl's from the past. Now let's get back to more music. Angel Heredia: Start -  15:57   and    End -23:39Our next artist is Latin Tech House, DJ and Producer Angel Heredia. At the age of 16 Angel was given a set of turntables and started DJ-ing. As he got older he wanted to expand his musical talents further, so he moved to Madrid to study sound engineering. Once he was finished with his studies, he returned to his hometown of Malaga with a better understanding of EDM, which helped him as a DJ. He quickly caught the attention of club promoters and was invited to play at some of Europe's largest festivals. He has released tons of tracks that have charted on Beatport, Tech-House Top 100. Here is a listen to one of his latest tracks “Bam Pum”.

Welcome to DRR Podcast 104, this week we are pleased to welcome Rakom to the DRR fold, with a blistering mix to showcase his sound. It's not everyday that talent becomes so obvious at a young age, but for German DJ/Producer Rakom the evidence is unmistakable. The Bochum-based artist, born in 2005, comes from a vinyl background and boasts impressive mixing skills alongside his drum practice. He's had multiple club appearances as a newcomer, enjoys playing vinyl sets most and leaves a mark as a bespoke young talent and other special accolades. Having a distinct idea about sounds it was logical for him to learn producing. One year into the game he (15 y/o at the time) wins the OFF Recordings remix contest for Drumcomplex' track “Atomic” and appeared on the Techno Syndicate Mix Compilation on ZYX Music. Only at the beginning of his musical journey and the refining of his taste and style, Rakom names the likes of Dimi Angélis, Luke Slater, Charlton, Oliver Rosemann and Regis as main influences for his production styles. On a personal level his aim is to bring raw techno music to a broader audience, both of listeners and makers, and putting an emphasis on raw techno music through ample curation and crafty mixing skills. While we can't say what the future holds for the techno scene, RAKOM is continuing his mission to combine the finest tracks to his liking into his DJ sets while constantly refining his producer chops, so a likely presence in the clubs, compilations and certainly in numerous playlists to come. Well, f∩ck me twice on Sunday! Party Favorz (i.e. me, myself, I) has been in a pissy mood all week trying to get this CDN and caching plugin configured to my liking and it's turned into an obsession of defeat. I don't know what that means but it seems to fit the situation. Since Last Splash was already in the bag and I had planned on taking a much-needed break afterwards — I decided to go ahead and drop this Labor Day weekend party set 7 days early. You'll notice a lot of Block & Crown remixes in this set as I've only recently gotten access to an entire catalog of their work through one of my DJ services. Many of these songs never see the light of day on Beatport or Traxsource but are DJ exclusives (likely because of licensing issues). There's not a lot known about this duo other than they appear to be filling the gap left behind by Almighty and 7th Heaven who have been staples in the gay dance arena for several decades. While their brand isn't strictly geared towards gay audiences as you'll notice their work ends up on our Dance Club, Disco House and Peak Hour series — they're remarkably agile and easily adapt to whatever they're working on. In the last couple of years, they started remixing other artist's tracks and have recently embarked on creating original songs for the ZYX Music label (another blast from the past that's still pumping out great dance music). Another notable duo that's more recently entered this arena are Nacho Chapado & Ivan Gomez whose Guareber Recordings produced earworms with big tribal circuit beats and have now expanded into power disco house tracks and mashups much like Block & Crown are doing with great success. It's not clear if their Disco Gurls and Ghostmasters monikers are indeed themselves or ghost DJs working under the Guareber Recordings label but they've definitely hit on something as there's lots of room and plenty of source material to sample and mashup from the 70's, 80's, 90's and the early millennium. Then of course there's the Party Favorz favorite Purple Disco Machine, whose remixes and remakes of historical dance classics and current pop and Indie songs brings everything into his own little disco universe has exploded on the dance scene making him one of the most sought after DJs right now. Throw all this together with brand new dance gems and cheesy remakes of 80's love songs and you got yourself the most EPIC T-Dance set I've put out to date. As mentioned earlier, I plan on taking a couple of weeks off from the podcast to recharge my batteries and hopefully get this g*ddamned caching plugin properly configured as well as the app for Party Favorz, which was all working great until it wasn't. The last one isn't on me but the underlying structure supporting it — mainly Microsoft. When I return, I plan on finishing off the Ultimate 90's House Classics series before launching the much delayed Ultimate Trance Classics series. Until the next time...ENJOY! ...the Leipzig based DJ & producer Marc DePulse is one of these rare artists, who found his roots in the early childhood while taking lessons in accordeon, later finishing his A - Levels in music and joining the school choir for about 7 years (to keep the truth: his interest was not to sing - just looking for the girls;) ). In this time, 1999, he got in touch first with music production. Contrary to most other Djs, Marc started playing clubmusic on vinyl three years later. Infact digital outputs will be the future medium the next years. But for the Leipzig based producer Marc DePulse vinyl will stay the main medium, because on the one hand he loves to save the 12' feeling on the floor and the black beauty alive. Although the numbers of sales degrease from month to month - and Mp3 grows and grows, Marcs' intention is to establish a live-act in the upcoming months. Going step to step Marc is now taking off into the next generation. With his debut single feature with Holgi Star on Kiddaz.FM Records and the next outputs on PM Music, BluFin and Bondage music he shows a huge sound spectrum combined in several expressions of minimal electronic music - always being up to date with the dancefloor. Supported by Stephan Bodzin, Markus Kafka and many more Marcs follow-up single on Ostwind Records 'Ferner Liefen EP' is ready to start in the early December 2008. Touched by sounds of Spektre, Super Flu, Dubfire, Marascia or Popof, Marc did release his first mix-CD which appeared in october 2008 on ZYX Music. According to the new releases we are proud to tell, that the PM Music crew will start in the beginning of 2009 for a "a.m. to PM" tour through the clubs around Europe.
