Listeners of our show know that The Wolf loves Ronnie James Dio and his epic voice. We've done past episodes on his time in Sabbath (UAWIL #13), the Dreamers Never Die bio-pic/documentary (UAWIL #98) and last year's Holy Diver at 40 (UAWIL #129). So as Dio's sophomore effort turns 40 in 2024, we took the opportunity to celebrate Ronnie's voice and dive into The Last In Line. With the same lineup as Holy Diver - Vivian Campbell - guitar, Jimmy Bain - bass, Vinnie Appice - drums - Ronnie sought to recapture the magic from the first album. And with stadium rockers like We Rock, Egypt (The Chains Are On) and the title track, the band showed progress while keeping in touch with the anthemic rock that got them where they were. But are songs like Breathless and Evil Eyes really Dio songs? Are could they have been released by any hard rock band of the era? While The Last In Line showcases Ronnie's voice in a way that no one else could ever sing the song, some of the tracks on the album don't seem to hold up to the same standard. Vivian Campbell is glorious throughout the album with some thrashing solos and a touch of Eddie Van Halen here and there. Vinnie and Jimmy provide the devastating beat that makes this a hard rock classic and Ronnie's vocals are as strong as ever. But should they have taken more time to hone down the songs? Should they have spent more money on the videos? We dive into all those questions to celebrate Ronnie and The Last In Line at 40. We take a moment to talk with Chris Wilson from The Mistakes about the old days in Hollywood, California. The 90's had some of the best Punk Glam Warehouse Parties of all time. Chris also discusses the organizations he supports for Autism, since April is Autism Awareness Month. Erik makes the mistake of ranting on the wrong tweet to the Grammys. Doja Cat fans were not happy with him! The Gen X Brothers wonder why the Grammys don't represent metal music like they use to. No honorable mention of Slipknots' Joey Jordison Chris also takes us back to the good old days with stories about: Marilyn Manson, Revolution Hazy, Rock Stars Kill, The Zeros, Alley Cat Scratch, Queeny Blast Pop, Foxy Roxx, The Unflushables, and more. Chris Wilson Bass Player and founding member of the L.A. punk/glam band The Mistakes. After I moved back to FL, my dad (Paul Wilson) started focusing on his music again. He had a bunch of songs and asked me to play bass. Paul Wilson & Friends became the new band and often included my nephew. I also founded a nonprofit called We Rock for Autism that I ran for a few years and I also helped a buddy who put a cookbook together to support autism. Kenny from Nova Rex and I got recipes from a variety of rock stars and put them together for Rockin' Recipes for Autism. I linked up again with Revolution Hazy singer, Kelly Page was in a band with his nephew Kyle, and after hearing the songs, I invited myself to play bass. We played together for a few years in a band called Fairly Amazing. Kelly and Kyle are still at it, but I just focus my time on work and family now. I am currently booking one last show. This show is in honor of my dad who is battling cancer right now. https://www.rockinrecipesforautism.com/ (Chris's Website) Mentioned in this episode: Edge of Life Designs www.edgeoflifedesigns.com Edge of Life Designs www.edgeoflifedesigns.com

April is Autism Awareness month and as an effort to move the dial on stigmas around people, places and experiences involving people on the spectrum I want to invite you to meet a few amazing people who are doing their part to change the stigmas and providing safe spaces to teach and learn. “Finding a Place You Never Have to Say Sorry” is the wish of many parents of special needs children. Dina Kimmel knew that feeling all too well, and as the parent of a son diagnosed with autism she knew that she needed to find a solution. That solution started first in her home with her husband and her remodeling the their home.  Eventually it became the “home away from home” which became a respite for “her kiddos”, caregivers who wanted to “Play with a Purpose” and find a safe place where EVERYONE could be included in the fun times – We Rock the Spectrum Gyms was born!  We Rock the Spectrum Gyms are now worldwide with over 100 locations in 8 countries for “People of Determination” who just want to have some fun. During this year of the pandemic, Dina and her team of heroes lead the way in their communities to bring a level of stability to lives. https://www.werockthespectrumkidsgym.com/rock/   Dina created a 501(c)(3) organization – My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation to support children and families. https://www.werockthespectrumkidsgym.com/nonprofit/ I would enjoy hearing from you if you would like to connect you can find me, Uncle Dave on most social media as David Chametzky (facebook page Peace, Love and Bring a Bat) or just drop an email: peacelovebringabat@gmail.com

March 31, 2021 | Episode 32 Shawn Francis & Brian Altounian, just Two Dads, have a heart to heart with Dina Kimmel, We Rock The Spectrum Franchise Owner. Dina Kimmel is the CEO & Founder of We Rock the Spectrum (WRTS), a kids gym franchise that caters to children with autism and special needs. An autism mom from Tarzana, CA, she is a passionate advocate for children and has dedicated her life to developing and growing resources for the special needs population. In 2010, she opened the first WRTS after her son, Gabriel, was diagnosed with autism and she struggled to find a place where both he and her neurotypical daughter, Sophia, could play together. We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym in Tarzana, CA saw instant success with the special needs community and there are now more than 80 locations worldwide! On the wall of her gym, Dina put the motto, "Finally a place where you never have to say 'I'm sorry.'" This message continues to resonate with parents of special needs children all over the world. Her aim to provide a safe, nurturing, and fun environment where children of all abilities could play and grow together and her mission of full inclusion has now become a global movement.
