    # 93 Beyond the Code- Human Skills in an AI World with Eve Vleminck

Explore the intersection of AI and human skills with Eve Vlemincx. Uncover why organizations need to evolve and the essential skills for thriving in an AI-enhanced future.AI: A Catalyst for Change, Not a DisruptorThe narrative around AI often paints it as a disruptor poised to replace human jobs and complicate the current work environment. However, Vlemincx offers a refreshing perspective, viewing AI as a catalyst that can enhance how we work. She highlights the existing challenges within organizations—low engagement, high burnout rates, and the ever-present war for talent—and suggests that AI can be a tool for addressing these issues. By rethinking our work processes and the role of AI within them, there's a unique opportunity to not only improve efficiency but also tackle some of the systemic problems plaguing today's workplaces. The Role of Leadership in the AI EraLeadership in the age of AI requires a fundamental shift from viewing technology as an end to seeing it as a means to achieve broader organizational goals. The conversation with Vlemincx underscores the importance of understanding the purpose behind integrating AI into our systems. The true challenge for leaders is not in adopting the latest AI technologies but in leveraging these tools in a way that aligns with the organization's core values and objectives, without losing sight of the human element that remains at the heart of any successful venture.Bridging the Skills GapA crucial insight from our discussion is the recognition of a significant skills gap within many organizations, particularly in readiness for the AI-driven future. Despite rapid technological advancements, there's a lag in developing the skills necessary to thrive in this new era. Critical analytical thinking, emotional intelligence, and leadership emerge as competencies that need urgent attention. Vlemincx points out the overlooked necessity of preparing the workforce not just technically but also emotionally and intellectually for the changes AI will bring.Cultivating a Culture of ChangeOne of the most compelling points made during our talk is the need for a cultural shift towards embracing change. Vlemincx advocates for transitioning from isolated change projects to fostering a culture of continuous adaptation and innovation. This change culture is essential for organizations to navigate the complexities of an AI-enhanced future successfully. It involves rethinking how we approach change, making it an integral part of the organizational DNA rather than a temporary or external effort.Practical Steps for LeadersFacing the AI revolution requires leaders to start with introspection and openness to feedback. Vlemincx suggests a proactive approach to leadership that involves understanding one's impact on the team and organization. Embracing change, fostering resilience, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and adaptation are key to preparing for the AI wave. Leaders are encouraged to shift from a reactive to a proactive stance, empowering their teams to leverage AI in a way that augments human capabilities and enhances organizational outcomes. In conclusion, as we stand on the brink of the AI revolution, the insights shared by Eve Vlemincx offer a valuable roadmap for leaders. The journey ahead is not about battling the wave of technological advancements but about learning to surf it with agility, foresight, and a deep understanding of the transformative potential of AI. How adapted are you to the fast & busy times? #91 - Measuring conscious leadership: why and how? with Karine Becker

Hi everybody! In this podcast episode of Rebel Leader With a Heart, I am having a conversation with conscious leader and founder of Hire & Higher, Karine Becker. We will discuss the importance of having conscious leaders, not only for your organization, but for the planet as well!Who is Karine?Karine is a loving mother of two daughters and is the founder and conscious leader of Hire & Higher, an executive search firm focussing on recruiting sustainable, conscious leaders. Karine decided to make this transition because at some point, she realized that things weren't going so well for our planet. She still loved recruitment, but she was missing some purpose, that's when she decided to focus more on companies who want to do a transition and find conscious leaders that will empower them and will accelerate that transition towards more sustainability. What is a conscious leader? The word ‘conscious' has different meanings in different contexts and Karine and myself also have a different point of view on its definition, so I was curious to ask her: “How do you define a conscious leader?”“A conscious leader is someone who works for the common good and is guided by a vision that takes into account all stakeholders of the company as well as the profit of the company. It is someone who wants to work for the good of all people, but also for the greater good of the planet, taking into account the impact their company have on the planet.”For me a conscious leader is also somebody that is conscious of their values, but also their behaviors, thoughts, emotions, and especially under pressure. But on most views, Karine and I agree and even complement each other. Are you serving your stakeholders? There is an exercise I often give on workshops. I want you to think of the stakeholders you have. And now I want you to think of your day-to-day work. Where does your focus go to? TO the headquarters? To financial expectations? Or is it more to the people, the customers or the planet. It's good to be aware that there is often a gap between your day-to-day actions and the actions that would greatly benefit your stakeholders and afterwards, the company itself. How do you find these leaders?Well firstly, Karine has designed an executive value tool. It works like a sustainable filter for the recruitment process and gives an indication whether the values of the candidate match the values of the company. It also gives a set of fundamental values matching to the candidate and gives a percentage that defines the consciousness level of that person. Are companies ready to recruit these conscious leaders? At first, most organizations were still racing around like headless chickens, checking as much checkboxes as possible to satisfy demands from higher up the chain. But since the pandemic, people could finally take a step back and think about our personal health and our planet's health. That's when the demand started rising quickly. Times have gotten so fast, that we NEED conscious leaders to facilitate these fast transitions. If companies want to attract young talent and people who are very talented but lost their motivation, this conscious and sustainable transition is a necessity.I hope you have learned just how important it is for the growth of organizations to transition towards a more conscious and sustainable way of working and being. Karine explained that recruiting in this way of thought is a crucial step to reach this state. I found it fascinating to discuss this topic with her! She also has written multiple books to inspire other leaders to deal with crises. What's the secret to leading in chaos?Sooooo, how the hell are we supposed to satisfy our investors and bosses with so little information? How are we supposed to keep up and not burn ourselves out in the lightning-fast times? Carole gives us four great tips for this!First of all, crises are here to stay. Our world is in a constant state of change and accepting this will make our lives so much easier. It is super important not to prepare for the previous crisis, but rather, we should understand what we can take from one crisis to another. We need to accept that we will never have all the information to make decisions. If a leader can accept that chaos is a normal part of the process, they can help their colleagues calm down and be in the right state of mind to make decisions and be innovative. Secondly, creating the habit of making and changing plans on the go is one of the most important tips great crisis managers give. It's not the ability to follow a plan that's important, but rather having the agility to adapt to and overcome uncertain situations. You should manage unexpected situations through your agility habits, not because you had a certain plan in advance.Thirdly, remember that you are never alone. You're only one element in the solution to a problem. Share your knowledge with others and don't underestimate their power to help you!And last but not least, never stop learning! Everything around us is changing all the time, so keeping up is super important. It's never too late to pick up classes or courses to learn about upcoming trends or read a good book about it.How to properly get help from othersIf you want to deal with chaos and uncertainty, you should never underestimate the help you can get from others, even if they have a different area of expertise. There are many ways of getting help from others and Carole gave me a couple of great tips. First of all, never underestimate the power of youth. What others sometimes see as naiveté, can often be a clever idea that can lead to great innovation. You also need a lot of energy in chaotic times and youngsters have plenty of that!Another great way of getting help, is to have conversations with people who have a completely different area of expertise and analyze the process they follow in uncertain times. You can often draw things from these conversations that you can apply to your work as well!I mentioned youngsters before, but that of course doesn't mean you should discard advice from more experienced persons. They have dealt with crises many times before and you can learn a lot from them as well!

When I face a big challenge that makes me feel bad, I want to escape that feeling at all cost. And sometimes, I then act from a place of fear, of anger, of sadness, of resignation instead of responding from a place of love or with actions aligned with my values & who I really am so that I reach my desired outcome. That's when I grow and reach amazing results. But to get there, I often like listening to a meditation. And that's what I wanted to offer you. A meditation, you can listen to every time you face a big challenge. That meditation will help you feel better and act with more skillful action.RELEVANT LINKSREBEL LEADER WITH A HEART SHOWNOTES:https://rebelleaderwithaheart.com/49REBEL LEADER WITH A HEART COMMUNITY:https://www.facebook.com/groups/rebelleaderwithaheartLINKEDIN:https://www.linkedin.com/in/murielle-machiels-ab09621/
