Send us Fan MailOn-Demand Programme Link - https://mailchi.mp/bb2a7b851246/kairos-centreWhat is passive-aggressive behaviour? Do you fight like this? Passive-aggressive behaviour is when you express negative feelings indirectly instead of openly talking about them. It is a defence used to protect self. It might stem from early experiences and has become a way to protect self. It might also include feelings of rejection, fear, mistrust, insecurity and/or low self-esteem. It is often vindictive and a way of doing "fight' with someone. It is a way of expressing negative feelings, rather than talking openly about the issue which as caused upset. It is a way to communicate anger and other forms of distress, without openly acknowledging the emotions. It might take the form of action or inaction. An example might be, the person who attends an event (unwillingly), then is rude or hostile. Alternatively, it might be that they avoid the event and give a partner the “silent treatment.” That is overt aggression, adopted as a communication style, as revenge for an upset caused to them.Someone who uses passive aggression may feel angry, resentful, or frustrated, but they act neutral, pleasant, or even cheerful. They then find indirect ways to show how they really feel. They might say one thing, but do something quite contrary. They may do the thing they do not want to do and brood and complain whilst doing it.They might do something that seems kind (on the surface), but is opposite to the other person's expectation and preference. For example, someone who knows you are trying to lose weight, purposely buys a large sugary birthday cake for you.Passive aggression is a common coping mechanism that many people use from time to time, especially when they want to avoid direct conflict. People who engage in passive aggression may feel just as aggressive or hostile as those who adopt more overt forms of aggression.Anger, frustration, and displeasure are normal emotions. People who rely on passive aggression rather than direct communication to show these emotions often grew up in a family where that behaviour was common. It might not have felt safe for them to directly express their feelings as a child.Passive aggressive behaviour takes many forms but can generally be described as a non-verbal aggression that manifests in negative behavior - like these other examples:Limit/curtail communication: when clearly there is a problematic issue presentAvoiding/Ignoring/evading: because anger won't allow you to address the issue calmly Procrastinating: intentionally putting off something and knowing it will adversely affect the other person(s)Obstructing/deliberately stalling/preventing somethingAvoiding situations: where competition might show you in an unfavourable lightAmbiguity/cryptic/unclear: not fully engagingSulking/silent treatment/sullen/dogmatic: in order to get attention or sympathy.Purposely late: knowing that will offendThwarting/frustrating someone expectation: to be 'bloodyminded'Purposely forgetting key matters: to show a blatant disregard and disrespect Limiting/withholding/avoiding Intimacy: known to be liked by the other personMaking Excuses/coming up with reasons: for not doing thingsVictim role: so as to avoid taking responsibility for own roleGet some help from The Kairos Centre. Small habits rarely look dangerous while they're happening.Scrolling too long. Procrastinating on one important conversation. Putting off one decision another day. Staying around people who drain your focus and ambition.None of it feels massive in the moment. Then six months pass. A year passes. Nothing changes financially. Nothing changes professionally. Frustration starts building, but the routines stay the same. This episode takes a serious look at the daily habits that quietly keep people stuck and why changing your future usually starts with changing your regular Tuesday afternoon.Your life eventually starts resembling your routines whether you intended that or not.
Why do I keep procrastinating?Procrastination usually comes from one of three places: the task isn't actually aligned with who you are or where you're going, you're afraid of being visible (the witch wound), or you don't fully trust yourself to follow through. Most "procrastination" is really a way of protecting yourself from feeling bad.Is procrastination a character flaw? No. Procrastination is a safety mechanism. You're not a person who procrastinates - you're a person who keeps yourself from feeling uncomfortable. Naming the real cause underneath it is what actually creates movement. What is the witch wound and how does it cause procrastination? The witch wound is the inherited fear of being seen, being different, or being "too much" rooted in ancestral and historical danger around women's power. It shows up as visibility anxiety: you stall on the thing you want because some part of you fears rejection from your peers or family for stepping out of line.☀️
Have you ever turned down an invitation from a customer or colleague, only to realize later that they stopped asking you to events altogether? In this episode of The Selling Podcast, hosts Scott and Mike tackle the difficult art of saying "no" without burning bridges. Using a simple, four-step formula, they discuss how to decline requests and invitations confidently while ensuring you remain on the guest list for future opportunities. The "Golden Formula" for Saying NoScott outlines a definitive process to decline an invitation gracefully while maintaining future warmth:Meet with Appreciation: No matter the invitation, always start with sincere, heartfelt gratitude. Thank the person for thinking of you and acknowledge the effort they made to extend the offer.Give a Clear Answer Early: Avoid bury the "no" in the middle of a paragraph or conversation. Do not waffle, use "maybes," or say you will "try" if you already know you cannot make it. stringing people along prevents them from inviting others and damages trust.Provide Short Reasoning: While you should almost always provide a reason (unless the request is illegal or unethical), keep it brief. Avoid "dissertation" or "TED Talk" answers. A simple, honest sentence is usually sufficient. Crucially, never lie or invent excuses, as this will eventually damage trust.Future Warmth: Separate the rejection of the event from the rejection of the person. Close by expressing a genuine desire to connect in the future to keep the door open.Mike's Tweak: The Follow-UpMike adds a critical fifth step to the formula to maximize your chances of a reinvitation: The Follow-Up Note.A day or two after the event took place, send a quick message asking how it went. For example: "How was the dinner Friday night? I thought about you guys and hope you had fun." This shows continued interest and reinforces that you value the relationship, even if you couldn't attend that specific event.Key Takeaways & NuancesThe Power of Confidence: When saying no, be confident. If you sound hesitant, a customer may sense a "chink in the armor" and try to pressure you into changing your mind. Do not sound guilty for having other commitments.Handling Unethical/Illegal Requests: If a customer asks for something illegal, immoral, or unethical, the formula changes. There is no need for appreciation or future warmth regarding that specific request. A confident, definitive "no" is required immediately.Turning Down Activities You Dislike: If you are invited to an activity you genuinely do not enjoy (e.g., poker night), use appreciation, a clear no, and then politely state that the activity isn't your thing. Offer an alternative activity you do enjoy to steer future invitations toward things you will accept.Don't "Ghost": One of the biggest mistakes is sitting on a request because you really want to go but know you probably can't. Procrastinating only frustrates the inviter. Reply confidently as soon as you know your status.
This week, Angela discusses the importance of estate planning, reframing it as "family disaster planning." She emphasizes that true estate planning goes beyond just legal documents and financial distribution; it's about preparing for family dynamics and potential conflicts after one's passing. The core message is that prioritizing family well-being and clear communication is more crucial than the monetary aspects of an estate. Key Takeaways

Your name is one of the first things people learn about you—but it may also influence how they judge you. Research suggests that people with names that are harder to pronounce can face subtle disadvantages in hiring, promotions, and social situations. It's not usually intentional—but it happens. And there are ways to counteract it. https://www.newyorker.com/tech/annals-of-technology/the-power-of-names Some people just seem naturally confident. They walk into a room with ease, connect effortlessly with others, and come across as both capable and approachable. But where does that confidence actually come from? Is it something you're born with—or something you can build? Lydia Fenet, auctioneer, speaker, and author of Claim Your Confidence (https://amzn.to/3GQu8ZS), explains how confidence is developed, what most people get wrong about it, and practical ways to strengthen it so it shows up in your work and your everyday interactions. Procrastination isn't just laziness—it's something deeper. Whether it's putting off a small task or delaying something important, there's usually a reason behind it. Hayden Finch, PhD, licensed clinical psychologist and author of The Psychology of Procrastination (https://amzn.to/41Ik0ua), explains what's really going on when you avoid getting started, why willpower alone doesn't fix it, and what actually helps you follow through and get things done. Talking to yourself out loud might seem odd—but it can actually give you an advantage in certain situations. In fact, under the right conditions, it can sharpen your focus and improve how well you perform tasks that require attention. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/04/120417221613.htm PLEASE SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS DUTCH: If your pet is still scratching and you've tried everything at the pet store –it's time to stop guessing and go prescription.Support us and use code SYSK for $40 off your membership at https://Dutch.com RULA: Thousands of people are already using Rula to get affordable, high-quality therapy that's actually covered by insurance. Why do you keep planning, but not actually starting? Most women I talk to aren't lacking motivation. They're not lazy. They're not even inconsistent by nature. They just don't trust themselves. And when self-trust is low, everything feels harder. I'm breaking down why you keep overthinking, second-guessing, and staying stuck—and how to rebuild self-trust so you can take clear, aligned action in your business and life. Self-trust (not motivation or time management) is the missing piece. If you're ready to stop spinning and start moving, this is your gentle nudge to trust yourself and take the next step.

Now you're wondering who the heck you are to work with someone more successful than you. That little mean girl voice in your head will tell you every possible stinking reason why you're not qualified, why you should lower your price, why you should stay in your lane, why you're not prepared or ready enough to take on that client.Today I'm gonna show you how to take that mean girl voice and tell her to get the heck outta Dodge. How I used ChatGPT to uncover my patterns (and turned it into a Success Playbook)I share a behind-the-scenes experiment that turned into a game-changing self-coaching tool: I uploaded two years of journal entries to ChatGPT and asked it to identify my patterns. What came back was like having an ultra-insightful coach mirror back the exact moments I get dysregulated, slip into fear-based survival mode, and unintentionally self-sabotage… plus the specific non-negotiables that keep me grounded, regulated, and moving forward. If you've ever wondered why you “know what to do” but still fall into the same loops, this episode will help you see the real root: safety. Procrastination is one of the most common labels adults with ADHD use when they feel stuck — but in many cases, it's not what's really happening. In this episode of ADHD Support Talk Radio, Tara McGillicuddy explains why what looks like procrastination for adults with ADHD is often actually brain overload. Too many thoughts, too much information, and too much pressure can shut down action, even when motivation is high. Tara explores how information overload, mental clutter, and urgency can make it harder to start or follow through — and why trying harder often makes things worse. She also explains why vague goals like "start" or "get organized" increase overwhelm, and how identifying one clear, specific action can help reduce overload and make movement possible again. This episode offers a more compassionate and practical way to understand why ADHD brains get stuck — and what actually helps when taking action feels impossible. PLAN GOAL PLAN | Schedule, Mindful, Holistic Goal Setting, Focus, Working Moms
Starting is never just about the task. It's about the fear, the friction, and the stories we tell ourselves. And sometimes, it's about doing it together. In this conversation with my husband Ryan (Dr. Ryan McGeough), we get honest about what holds us back, what gets us moving, and what we've learned from books like Tiny Habits, Get It Done, and How to Begin that changed how we start. What we talk about: Why activation energy makes starting so hard (especially with ADHD) The difference between rewards and incentives How perfectionism disguises itself as procrastination Why telling the right people about your goals matters (and the wrong people can derail you) The surprising research on rewards: why giving yourself a "dollar to color" backfires Habit stacking and productive procrastination techniques How couples can support each other's goals by removing friction (not solving) Why self-trust erodes when you don't follow through—and how to rebuild it Key insights from books: Tiny Habits (BJ Fogg): Start ridiculously small. Rewards (immediate pleasure) build habits better than incentives (distant payoffs) Get It Done (Ayelet Fishbach): Wrong rewards can kill intrinsic motivation. Kids who got paid to color were less likely to color again without payment Self-Determination Theory: External controls (deadlines, forced language, performance rewards) can actually reduce motivation by squashing autonomy Ryan's brain hack: Write down 3 daily tasks. Pick the one you should do most—but procrastinate freely by working on the other two. "Number two is in real danger." How we support each other: Annual goal-setting practice together means we know what matters to each other. We can remove friction, budget accordingly, and cheer each other on. Most importantly? We give each other space without having to negotiate every time. If you live in a constant loop of “I am so overwhelmed” and “I'll do it later,” this episode is for you. I am breaking down why ADHD brains get stuck in overwhelm and procrastination, what is actually going on behind the scenes with your executive function, and the specific behaviors that changed everything for me.We talk about the shame spiral that comes with never feeling caught up, why procrastination is not technically an ADHD symptom but shows up constantly, and how time blindness, low interest tasks and emotional dysregulation all team up to derail your day. Then I walk you through practical tools you can use right away, including a simple time awareness experiment, how to externalize your time management with alarms and prompts, and how to build a weekly planning rhythm that actually works for your ADHD brain. This is a small taste of what I teach inside my Distraction to Action productivity framework. If you want to feel less overcommitted, stop resenting your “past self” for saying yes, and finally know what to do with that never ending list of projects, press play.

In this episode of The Doctor Coach School™ Podcast, I'm breaking down a concept I coach on constantly: that inner voice you label as your self-saboteur. The one that questions you, slows you down, tells you you're not good enough, and convinces you to procrastinate.Inside The Doctor Coach School™, I call this part of your brain your inner cave person—your primitive COO. And today I'm teaching you a new way to understand her, listen to her, and work with her instead of fighting against her.Because despite how it feels, your brain isn't the enemy. She's actually on your side—and the minute you learn to respond to her instead of ignoring her, everything in your business changes. What I CoverCEO Brain vs. COO Brain: your visionary self vs. your cave-person COO who wants to make sure you don't crash and burn. Why your cave person gets louder when you ignore her questions.Procrastination as a shutdown, not a flaw: it's your COO pausing operations because you haven't answered her concerns. How to move forward by asking your brain, “What are you worried about?” and answering honestly instead of pushing through.Inside DCSI also take a moment to celebrate Dr. Tiffany, one of our DCS students who recently signed another client. When she joined, she had made $0 in her coaching business. Now she's thriving—because she believes deeply in her clients and sees not only who they are, but who they're becoming. This is exactly what we teach inside the school. Your Daily Card should be the simplest, most powerful tool in your planner — but most moms get it wrong. In this episode, Mystie Winckler walks through the three most common Daily Card mistakes that keep homemakers from feeling productive and peaceful:1️⃣ Writing down wishful thinking instead of real priorities.2️⃣ Listing projects instead of doable tasks.3️⃣ Avoiding the practice until it feels “perfect.”Learn how to make a daily card that focuses on the meat of your day — the essential work that matters most — so you can stop spinning your wheels and start walking faithfully through your responsibilities.Making daily cards consistently helps you learn about yourself, your thinking patterns, and your real priorities.2. Mistake #1 – Wishful ThinkingMany moms fill their daily card with things they wish they could do instead of their true priorities. The daily card should not list extras or gravy tasks—it's for the meat of the day.“The meat” means the core work and responsibilities that genuinely require your time and attention today.Instead of writing down what you'd like to do, ask:“Where should my time and attention go today?”Examples:Nursing the baby, homeschooling, or preparing meals may take significant time and deserve a spot on the card. These tasks are not distractions from productivity—they are the essential work of the day.The daily card helps you stop criticizing yourself for not doing “more” and instead recognize that you spent your time where it mattered.3. Mistake #2 – Putting Projects Instead of TasksA project is many tasks disguised as one item; putting it on your daily card sets you up for failure. The daily card should only include things that can actually be done today with the time and energy you have.Big projects should be broken into smaller, specific, actionable steps.A helpful rule:If it takes too much time, too much energy, or too much thinking power, it's too big for your daily card.Examples of proper daily card items:“Make two phone calls” (instead of “handle appointments”)“Take meal to family” (acknowledging it affects timing and priorities)The goal is to prioritize what truly counts, not to cram ambitious goals into an already full day.4. Mistake #3 – Procrastinating the PracticeSome moms avoid making a daily card because they think they must have perfect priorities figured out first. You learn what matters by doing daily cards, even imperfectly. It's better to make a bad daily card today than to make none at all. Each attempt gives insight into your expectations, habits, and priorities.Over time, repeated practice builds awareness and discernment.
Tenderoni Hotline #3: Hello my love! Welcome back to the Tenderoni Hotline, our cozy corner of the Feminist Wellness podcast where I answer your most tender, honest, and heartfelt questions about healing, self-trust, and nervous system care. In today's episode, we're exploring why setting boundaries can feel so hard, and why guilt often floods in after you finally speak your truth. We'll talk about the deep nervous system wiring that makes boundaries feel threatening, especially if you were raised to believe that love means self-sacrifice. You'll learn how your biology, past experiences, and systemic conditioning all collide to make boundary-setting feel unsafe, even when you know it's the right thing. We're also unpacking why you procrastinate, even on things that matter deeply to you. Spoiler alert: it's not about laziness. It's your nervous system trying to protect you from real or perceived danger. You'll learn how freeze shows up, how perfectionism fuels it, and what gentle, practical tools can help you shift from stuck to self-led. This work is compassionate, science-backed, and deeply honoring of your lived experience. Because you deserve to set boundaries without betrayal, take action without fear, and build a life rooted in your own nervous system safety and self-trust. Got a question for the Tenderoni Hotline?
