When twins were little I wanted the challenge to take care of them at night, felt like I belonged with them and felt happier being with them even thought it was more challenging.How is that true in your life?What strsss do you want to include and why? Why would. You rather do it and be stressed than NOT do it and be not stressed.Choosing to be a stay at home mom even thought it is super challenging and stressful. But super meaningful to me and I would rather be here stressed out than in some office cubicle doing something that has zero meaning to me. This podcast has a lot of meaning to ME even thought it is stressful to put myself out there share my stories, doubt myself, question myself and feel vulnerable, but I would rather do it than not BECAUSE It means a lot to me to know that this will be helpful to at least one other person out there bozo I know how helpful it was to me when I listed to a podcast or read a blog./Dinners realiziing I would rather scramble and do last minute adjustments and cook 3,4 different options for the kids that order in or do fast food. I would rather be stressed out over picky eaters and being bad at this and how hard this cooking job is than pick up fast food. I choose this stress over the other stress of feeding them less nutritious meals but seemingly less work and less stress in making the meal. Ha I would actually be rather doing that than this! Most are marketing agencies, PR firms, and business services-type companies. That's probably 60% of our customers. 30% are SaaS technology companies, and 10% are other. Machine shops and commercial real estate are all kinds of odds and ends. And our strategy and mechanism are generally the same across the board. We're email first and primarily email. But increasingly, we're augmenting that with targeted display ads. And sometimes, we'll layer on a LinkedIn program if it's targeted and small and makes sense. We've never done phone. And I know that's your expertise. No, it's more of a personal preference and experience than anything else. We have plenty of clients that have had a lot of success cold calling internally or with partners. And we've worked, you know, we've told plenty of sales leads in the past, hey, yeah, we don't do that. But I do think that phone will work for you. We've just focused on email because we're good at it. We can automate it with a lot of technology and increasingly automate it with many AI integrations. And that's just kind of how we've how we built the business." - ERIC"As a subject line, I'm rather ambivalent. If it works, it works; if it doesn't, it doesn't. We've had clients where we've dropped emojis and manipulated text. One thing I know works at RevBoss is that subject lines should resemble those you'd send to a coworker. You'd never send an email with a subject line like "Increase your XYZ by some percent," right? Good subject lines are casual, like "Hey, how's it going?" or "I have a question about this thing." You'll get the desired result as long as you broadly fall into that category. Emojis and text manipulation are great ideas." – ERIC"Our general approach is three emails over a week, maybe 10 days. One of the emails is usually like a bump or an inline reply, maybe two; perhaps both are inline replies or forwards. Instead of doing five, eight, or 10 emails or touches over an extended period, we like to do short bursts in seven days. Let that prospect chill out for 60 days 90 days, and then do another short burst over a short period of time. We found that the prospects we retarget—say, I email you today, and then if you don't reply after two or three emails, I email you again in 60 or 90 days—roughly convert at the same rate as net new prospects. So, a lot of the success we're able to generate for our clients is based on repetition, process, and ensuring we're landing in the inbox with enough frequency, the right target prospect, and a tight message to get lucky. But the real question is, how do we seek joy in this world fully dictated with material things in defining life's beauty?Erin Mac joins the podcast to talk about joy. As someone who's built her company 20 years ago, Erin shares more how money can't provide the real meaning of joy, and it won't help if you only rely on external things. In this episode, she shares how one can start finding oneself and get on that journey.Impenetrable JoyImpenetrable joy is the experience that you no longer have to be at the mercy of or beholden to people or circumstances to dictate as to whether you're having a good day or a bad day, or for that matter, a good life or a bad life. You're no longer on the roller coaster ride of emotions, like when someone says something or something happens, and all of a sudden, our mood switches, and we start going south. When you recognize that you are responsible for your experiences and learn how to change them into the experiences you want, then create a penetrable joy, which is internal. It's not based on something that's going on externally.It's recognizing that some things are going on behind the scenes that we are often unaware of, and when we can get awareness of them, we can begin to unpack what's going on. Not so much on why it happened, what were the circumstances or the things that led to the experience, but more just in the proactive state of how can I change that experience? Joy vs HappinessThe difference between happiness and joy is that happiness is based on external things. It's a brand-new car, but it's short-lived and is based on an external thing. Joy is an internal experience that you can create throughout each day. However, the idea of happiness that we've been taught in our society and many other societies is based on external things. But the real joy is the kind of joy available now, regardless of what's going on out here. The internal experiences, the one that's meaningful and has a purpose. And that's what we're after. But people don't know it because we don't make these distinctions. Sufficiency and ExcessWe have this idea of sufficiency and excess. It's like, what is going to be enough for me? Is it enough to have a nice home, to have shelter, to have access to food and water? Is it enough to have those things to have deep, meaningful relationships with people and purpose and meaning in your life? Or do I need to subscribe to what society would have you believe? If that's the case, why are multimillionaires or billionaire clients also miserable despite having all the money? It's because of that happiness thing they were pursuing. Because it's the journey inside that has meaning and purpose. It's not the exterior nor the external things.Journey of GrowthPeople are essentially here for growth. As humans like to evolve as human beings. And when we can align with that idea, then we find purpose and meaning in our life. Hence, the way to begin the growth journey is to recognize that you do not have purpose and meaning. And sometimes, that comes in the form of a crisis. Even sin is committed with an erroneous sense that it will lead us to happiness. But there is one source of human fulfillment and one source of authentic happiness. That one source is God. Seek our Divine Lord as the fulfillment of every human longing that you have (See Diary #305).What is it that you seek in life? What is it that you long for? Is God the end of all your longings? Do you believe that God and God alone suffices and fulfills all you desire? Look at your goals, this day, and reflect upon whether or not God is the ultimate end of those goals. Worst investment everTroy worked at a retail store as a sales rep when his mom died suddenly in April of 2014. At the time, Troy had worked this job for 11 years, but suddenly every day he came to work, he would feel pressured and did not want to be at work. He felt like he was in prison. Troy went to see a doctor, and he was diagnosed with anxiety. He decided to go out of work under short-term disability for 60 days. When he went back to the doctor, he was told he was still not fit to work. Troy went back to his employer and submitted his paperwork for an extension, but he got denied. So he resigned. Finding a better jobTroy found another job which started him off at a certain amount plus commission. After a couple of months, they reduced his salary by about 80% but with a higher commission. Troy’s salary was just enough to pay his health insurance and that of his wife and pay taxes. Selling telecommunication systems was a long process, and Troy barely closed any deals. Falling back on his money reservesWhen Troy’s mom died, she left him some money. He planned to save and invest it later. However, when his job woes started, he started dipping into his money reserves bit by bit to sustain his lifestyle. In his mind, he thought he would be able to put back the money once he closed a deal and got his commission. Troy did a lot of prospecting and working deals but barely closed anything due to the long sales process. Things got tougherTroy’s money reserves were dipping by the day. He figured it was time to get another job. He ended up having to take another job making less money, but at least it was not commissioned. His reserves were drying out at this point, and he still had so many expenses to cover. Troy realized that his worst investment ever was continuing to live the same lifestyle despite his financial hardship. He should have cut his costs, but he did not, and now he had no money to invest. Lessons learnedMoney is not your source of happinessThe experience taught Troy that God is his source and provider. No matter how much or little money he has, God is the one who will sustain him, not money. Cut your spending to a bare minimum when money is tightWhen money is tight, do not carry on as usual. Buckle down and curb your spending to the bare minimum. FacebookInstagramThe Declaration of Independence is Wrong!The term ‘inalienable rights' is probably extremely familiar with most people.These rights that are God-given, and therefore, cannot be taken away by any other individual or group of people.We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of HappinessThe conversation usually is surrounding politics and, in my experience, most often in response to government overreach.The reason I bring this up is because most political commentators, yes conservative, usually say this opening line of the Declaration of Independence and it always causes me to ponder…As a disciple of Christ Jesus, what rights are given to me? Do I have the right to free-speech? Do I have the right to bear arms and protect myself? Do I have the right to the pursuit of happiness?I ask these questions because what I hear from commentators like Michael Knowles, Rush, and these other conservative voices is that being a Christian and a political conservative are synonymous. Now they don't go right out and say it but they defend the rhetoric of the Declaration of Independence and use the argument of, ‘these are God-given rights that the government is trying to take away'.The last thing I want is for people to not understand, or worse yet, misunderstand the Gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means to follow him or not follow him.So the question remains, as Christians, what truths do we hold self-evident?The Bill of Rights1 - Nope!2 - Nope!Support the show

“Most people base success on how much money someone is making. Based on that I was successful but felt horrible, and I knew something had to change.” This episode’s guest got his first taste of entrepreneurship in middle school when he started selling candy out of his locker. By the time he was 24, Joshua Lee was running 16 companies and generating a couple million dollars a month. To the outside world, he’d made it. He had more money than he knew what to do with. He was living a luxury life with his wife and two kids and he was surrounded by friends in similar positions. But inside, he felt horrible and miserable. His relationships had become transactional and his identity and self-esteem was driven by the figure in his bank account. Worse than that, Josh didn’t feel as though he knew himself. His in-laws didn’t feel comfortable when he talked about his business success meaning there was this whole side to Josh that was buried and unexpressed to people outside his business circles. Eventually Josh hit rock bottom. He knew he needed to restart his life and change his direction entirely. He realized he could always make more money, but he could never make more time so he divorced his wife, liquidated everything he owned, and found himself back in his parents’ home with just a few $000 in his account. Age 36, Joshua once again had a blank canvas to play with - time to rebuild his life from scratch. “You can’t change the people around you but you can change yourself and that will in turn either draw or push away the good and bad people that you need in your life.” Josh is an incredible example that you can build it all again - even if you’ve lost everything you worked so hard for. After escaping rock bottom and working through the depression his old life had created, Josh now helps other entrepreneurs be more human online. He refuses to live with the spilt personalities so many entrepreneurs adopt, and instead is passionate about being himself all the time. Joshua is fueled by a mission to make the world a better place for his kids.
