Julie Aitchison triumphantly returns to Unexplained Inc. Back in the summer she laid down the foundation for what goes into S.R.A. and who is likely behind most of it. This time she goes deeper into it's connection to the military-intelligence field and the dark aspects of mind control. Before we get into this aspect of the discussion we have a fairly bipartisan discussion on the U.S. Election results and why people should be interacting with each other with humility...whether their 'side' is the victor or the loser. We also dive into whether or not Donald is a saviour of the masses or a well-crafted charlatan...you be the judge! Plus...in the outro Phantom Phil shares the most far-out theory he's heard on who Trump is really representing. Then we look into the harrowing Project MKOFTEN, various aspects of mind control and some of the harrowing aspects of S.R.A. This ties into how underground tunnels likely play a major factor into this dark phenomenon. Plus...if public figures like Hanks & DeNiro have such a major problem with the elected official? Why are they bailing on their country instead of sticking ground to fight? Seems fishy...hmmmmJulie wraps all of this up with an interesting take on the times we are living in through a Biblical perspective. I advise to take what resonates from this chat and leave what doesn't...no need to get yourself triggered and shoot the messenger! Dr. John Aitchison is President and Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research, the largest independent, non-profit organization in the U.S. that is focused solely on infectious disease research. In addition, John serves as an affiliate or adjunct Professor at the University of Washington, the University of British Columbia, the University of Alberta, and the Institute for Systems Biology. John's research investigates the systems biology related to infectious disease by using technology, computation, and high throughput biology to examine molecules in complex biological systems to better understand how the system will react to a new stimulus or perturbation. Their ultimate goal is to predict how effective a drug or vaccine will be against a particular disease and to implement it with high efficiency. When he's not in the office or the lab, John loves to be out on the water sailing and racing sailboats. He's also a fan of playing squash, skiing, spending time with his family, and being outdoors. Jen Aitchison is the President of Renewable Risk Consulting Inc. With over 15 years of dedicated experience, Jen has become an award-winning leader known for her deep understanding of renewable energy risks and her ability to create transparent, economically viable insurance solutions. In this episode, Jen delves into the nuances of renewable energy insurance and the importance of education and adaptation in the sector and she offers her unique perspective on the future of energy and insurance for those still in college.   Key Takeaways: This episode was recorded at Marsh's 2024 North American Energy Industry Conference! A big shout out to Michael Kolodner and his amazing leadership. Everybody backs clean energy, but sometimes there is a sense of distrust about the “correct” way. Why is that? We will need all types of energy for us to succeed in making it renewable energy. Coal energy is dirty. We all agree it should be reduced, including the coal miners! But then it stops becoming a conversation of energy and a conversation of education and re-employment. The average person is not aware of how many different facets of insurance exist. People think insurance is repetitive and boring. We as an industry need to get better at showing interesting and live case studies. Pick whatever industry your children want to go into and there's an insurance claim that needs to be filed or underwritten within that industry. If you're looking for stable employment, the insurance industry will never go through a “recession.”  What advice does Jen give to younger college students who aren't sure what they want to do with their life? Love sports? Love to travel? You can become an insurance underwriter for the sports industry. There are so many avenues you can go. Why is Jen so interested in sustainability? 16 years later, Jen still finds the work she does engaging, impactful, and important!   Mentioned in This Episode: Marsh.com Renewableriskconsulting.ca Jen on LinkedIn Marsh's 2024 North American Energy Industry Conference   red.”

BioMech Pioneer Marcus Lenhard Discusses Decorating the Human Form in Tattooing   SUMMARY    Aaron Della Vedova interviews tattoo artist Marcus Lenhard on his show, Chats and Tatts. Marcus is a tattoo artist from Germany who specializes in BioMech, a type of art that was popularized by HR Geiger and Aaron Kane. Aaron and Marcus discuss the importance of pushing oneself and never getting too comfortable. Aaron also talks about his recent trip to Switzerland where he visited Guer Castle where HR Giger's Restaurant, Bar Museum is located. It is a seed for the BioMech movement, which is a fusion of nature and animation in concept art and tattooing. The movement is inspired by how nature solves problems and is still alive in concept art and tattooing.    Guy Atchison and Aaron Kane were two of the most prolific people in bringing BioMech to the tattoo industry. Guy Atchison's craftsmanship of machines has kept BioMech cool and how the impact of their work on the tattoo community has been massive, changing the way people do tattoos from pictures to decorating the body with shapes that move with the human form.   How The Chat Went Down:   0:00:00   Tattoo Artist Marcus Lenhard on BioMech Art and Tattooing 0:02:32   Conversation on HR Giger's Influence on BioMech Art 0:04:18   Exploring the Impact of BioMech on Tattooing 0:09:56   The Impact of Japanese Water Waves on BioMech Tattooing 0:13:39   Exploring the Art of BioMech Tattooing  0:18:00   Exploring the Evolution of Tattoo Artistry 0:21:28   Exploring the Differences in Tattoo Preferences Between Men and Women 0:27:21   Blackwork Tattoos and the Popularity Among Women 0:29:42   Exploring the Personalization of Tattoo Art 0:31:36   The Process of Creating a Custom Tattoo 0:35:11   "Tips for Long Tattoo Sessions: Strategies for Comfort and Focus" 0:36:53   The Benefits of Taking a Mechanical Approach to Tattooing 0:40:46   Freehand Tattooing 0:44:03   Working Practices and Recent Move to Canada 0:47:00   Honesty in Tattooing: Advice from a 30-Year Veteran 0:53:04   Creative Inspiration Through Reference Prioritization 0:54:53   Nature for Inspiration in Tattoo Artistry 0:56:38   Authentic Artistic Expression Through Nature and AI 1:01:44   The Potential of Artificial Intelligence to Create Novel Experiences 1:06:42  Possibilities of AI-Generated Art 1:09:40   Copyright Infringement and the Impact of the Market on Artistic Expression 1:11:02   The Impact of Technology on Creativity 1:14:06   Technology and Personal Agency 1:17:28   Reflections on Moving to Different Countries and Developing as an Artist 1:18:35   Taking a Break to Find Inspiration and Avoid Burnout 1:20:31   Exploring Psychedelic Experiences 1:28:16   Reflections on Tattooing and Surrendering to Life's Changes 1:31:13   Tattooing with Luxaltera: An Intimate Experience 1:37:37   Artwork and Healing Process   Quotes:   I can just remember running around catching lightning bugs and that sound, picking them off trees. They would emerge from these little bioskeletons, and then the real insect would emerge. And I remember picking up those little things and talk about HR geiger. It looks like where geiger might have got the inspiration.    I like to get tattoos that remind me of my childhood. And I had a really good childhood growing up in Iowa. Just pure nature. But in Iowa, every so many years, these huge swarms of cicadas would infiltrate our entire neighborhood and make this incredible sound, just, wow.   Your authentic way you approach tattooing, I really appreciate that. Your process, how you interact with your clients, how you like to very carefully gauge where you gather your reference material to keep you more authentic and not just echoing the voices of other artists.    I feel like you have to develop yourself as an artist, and you can become an amazing artist, but once you are an amazing artist, have you also done some personal development in the meantime?   If you arrive at 40, 45 and you feel like, oh, I feel like I'm still 20 because I haven't really done anything but just, like, tattooing and art and tattooing and art and tattooing and art, then at some point you're like, maybe there's space for some other stuff here that makes me grow as a person.   I still draw, I still paint, but not nearly at this pace I used to, only because I'm striking a balance, like, gosh, can I do something else today besides art? Can I go ride? I like the mountain bike, too, and anything. Just go for a walk.

Sexually abused by a family member at a young age, Gemma ran away from home and lived on the streets until a charity helped her.  Married  at 17 and a young mother,  Gemma faced the unthinkable; the brutal murder of her 16 year old sister Sasha.  That horrific tragedy,  the ongoing trial,l and her recognition and research on sexual objectification led Gemma to found Yes Matters, an organization which supports victims of abuse, challenges gender stereotypes, and delivers training to professionals.  She has made it her mission to change the world for the better by teaching society about the links between pornography, objectification, gender stereotypes, and male violence. Her unflappable and informed approach to delivering feminist messages have led her to become a valuable advisor to political movers and shakers. She's attended private meetings with politicians, including former Prime Minister David Cameron. Gemma was asked to present findings from her dissertation research on the impact of pornography on young people in Westminster. Her research on gender stereotypes and VAWG, Violence Against Women and Girls, has also been heard by the European Parliament. Gemma's achievements in VAWG space has been recognized by the WIN Award for the Protection of Women and Girls' Rights in 2016. The Emma Humphreys Memorial Prize in 2017 and the  Woman of the. Year Award in 2017. She's a go-to media commentator on issues related to violence against women appearing on BBC and GB News and featured in The Guardian, the Observer, Daily Mail among other UK outlets.   What You Will Hear in This Episode:  2:43 Gemma's personal story 8:45 Focusing on her autistic son 12:30 Sasha's murder 19:40 Dealing with the aftermath, guilt and becoming an activist 22:43 Researching, learning and starting Yes Matters 27:35 Creating policy change and lessons learned 31:53 Gemma's work changing the gender stereotype   Quotes “What I discovered was that young people, instead of getting a proper sex and relationship education, they were getting PornHub.” “Legally, consent is defined as something that you want to participate in without coercion. So it's the yes that matters.” “If men cared enough about women to stop violence against us, you know, they've had millennia to do something about that and they haven't.” “I try to speak their language. What do they care about? Money seems to be what a lot of people in power care about.”  “I have learned that I am fueled by rage……there's no shortage of things to get enraged about.“ “I've just been trying my best  to get things done and if not to make change, make the people who have the power to change things, make them look bad enough that they want to change them.”  “We don't want our boys to have futures where if they need help, they would rather kill themselves than ask for it. “   Mentioned: Yes-Matter.co.uk Facebook Instagram TikTok Cultured Reframed Back Up Cinderella Childhood Syndrome Everyday Sexism Projects Sarah Champion Connect with Bonnie https://bonniemarcusleadership.com/ https://web.facebook.com/bonnie.marcus/  https://www.linkedin.com/in/bonniemarcus https://twitter.com/selfpromote https://www.instagram.com/self_promote_/ Gendered Ageism Survey Results Forbes article 5 Tips to own the superpower of your age IAMMusicGroup Purchase my book Not Done Yet on Amazon:  If you enjoyed this episode of Badass Women Podcast, then make sure to subscribe to the podcast and drop us a five-star review.

The Conservative leadership race will be finally coming to a close on Saturday when the winner will be announced in Ottawa. The safe bet is that Pierre Poilievre will win — perhaps even on the first ballot. But what will the results mean not only for the consensus front runner, but for Jean Charest, Leslyn Lewis, Roman Baber and Scott Aitchison?Does it matter if Poilievre wins on the first ballot? What's next for Charest should he lose? What will the results mean for Lewis and the social conservative wing of the party? And did Baber and Aitchison succeed in what they set out to do by launching their long-shot candidacies? To answer these questions and lots more, I'm joined this week by Tim Powers of Summa Strategies, Chad Rogers of Crestview Strategy and Stephanie Levitz of the Toronto Star.As always, in addition to listening to the episode in your inbox, at TheWrit.ca or on podcast apps like Apple Podcasts, you can also watch this discussion on YouTube. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Will MacAskill Media for WWOTF - Full List, published by James Aitchison on August 30, 2022 on The Effective Altruism Forum. Never before have we had the chance to enjoy so much Will MacAskill. He seems to have been everywhere. What a superb and exhaustive job he and his team have done to promote 'What We Owe The Future.' So far I have counted 16 podcasts, 18 articles and 6 other bits and pieces. I have listed all these below with links and brief comments. Podcast Appearances The 80,000 Hours Podcast with Rob Wiblin. A warm and comprehensive three-hour discussion. Making Sense Podcast with Sam Harris. Harris is strongly supportive, MacAskill particularly inspiring on the sweep of history. Mindscape Podcast with Sean Carroll. Carroll asks questions about utilitarianism, metaethics and population ethics which MacAskill handles well. The Ezra Klein Show Podcast. A fine conversation on long-termism. Klein structures the discusion around ‘Three simple sentences: Future people count. There could be a lot of them. And we can make their lives better.' Good discussions about history - the contingent nature of the abolition of slavery and that certain times have plasticity. Tim Ferriss Podcast. A lively discussion with much humour and several gems from MacAskill. Includes recommendation of Joseph Henrich's 'The Secret of Our Success.' Deep Dive with Ali Abdaal Podcast. A relaxed, friendly and wide-ranging three-hour conversation. Covers a lot of ground including EA psychology and MacAskill's work methods. This is a high-quality YouTube production as well as a podcast and is my favourite among the appearances. Conversations with Tyler Podcast . Tyler Cowan's questioning focuses on the limits of utilitarianism. The Lunar Society Podcast with Dwarkesh Patel. Mainly on the contingency of moral progress. Global Dispatch Podcast with Mark Goldberg. Discussion on longtermism and the United Nations. Goldberg enthusiastic about the UN adopting some longtermist thinking. Modern Wisdom Podcast with Chris Williamson. An accessible discussion of longtermism. Conversations with Coleman with Coleman Hughes Includes population ethics, economic growth and moral change. Daily Stoic Podcast with Ryan Holiday. Mainly on altruism and moral change. Kera Think with Krys Boyd. 30 minutes conversation. Freakanomics Podcast with Steve Levitt. Discussion mainly on the economic themes in WWOTF, which MacAskill handles very well. 1a Podcast on NPR. David Gurn discussion on EA as a life changing philosophy. Includes comments from Sofya Lebedeva and Spencer Goldberg. Ten Percent Happier Podcast with Dan Harris. A warm discussion on donations, EA and longtermism. There are transcripts for the podcasts by Wiblin, Carroll, Klein, Cowan, Patel, Goldberg and Levitt. Articles and Book Reviews The New Yorker: The Reluctant Prophet of Effective Altruism by Gideon Lewis-Kraus. A fine 10,000-word article profiling MacAskill and setting out the history of the EA movement. The author spent several days with his subject and covers MacAskill as an individual and the ideas and dynamics of the movement. MacAskill comments on the article in this Twitter Thread Time: Want to Do More Good? This Movement might have the Answer by Naina Bajekal . A beautifully written and inspiring profile of MacAskill and the EA movement. Vox: How Effective Altruism Went from a Niche Movement to a Billion-Dollar Force by Dylan Matthews. A well-informed and thoughtful article on EA's evolution by an EA insider. Wired: The Future Could be Blissful - If Human's Don't Go Extinct First. Shorter interview with Will Macaskill by Matt Reynolds. New York Times: The Case for Longtermism by Will MacAskill A Guest Essay adapted from the book. How to bring WiFi connectivity to very remote areas: Interview with Oscar Aitchison from Okra Solar

Picture a remote island, populated by many small and medium-sized communities. The local economy largely runs on a fishing industry. Children go to school, markets sell food & goods, but two important things are missing: reliable energy access and connectivity. There's no real cell signal in the village of Maybuuho, Philippines. This means that not only do people lack the ability to communicate outside their village, renewable energy solutions like solar-powered mini-grids or Solar Home Systems aren't very easy to use. Without any sort of connectivity, modern off-grid energy companies that are operating today end up de-prioritising "zero connectivity" locations, which exist all around the world. Okra is a technology company that manufactures everything needed to set up what they call a "mesh grid" as a kit, and then sell those kits to  Energy Access companies (like SHS or Mini-Grid companies) around the world. Their latest innovation is called the Cicada WiFi, an open source communications module, that brings WiFi connectivity to remote areas using VSAT technology.Tamara Mahoney from EnAccess and Oscar Aitchison from Okra talk about Cicadas - not the insects, but the chip - today on Open Energy Access. They discuss the impact this technology had not only for the company that participated in their pilot, but also potential impact for the village of Maybuuho, who could be offered Internet As A Service for the first time.  More information: https://enaccess.org/materials/okra-cicada/
