ANNIVERSARY EPISODE!! The #ListenBoysAndGirlsPodcast this week talks about UNDERESTIMATING AND UNDERVALUING ourselves! Sadly, these weeds seem harmless but they too are ravenous. Underestimating and undervaluing ourselves is indeed a monstrous patch of weeds in our growth garden and can be the very thing choking out your potential to LIVE, be fruitful in your efforts and interaction and heal! Sometimes WE are cultivating the weeds that get in the way! We plant doubt and uncertainty and water it with our fear!! We have to check our own minds and motives, constantly! Our own unhappiness, lack of emotional intelligence and unhealed wounds OFTEN causes us to lose far more than we gain UNDERESTIMATING AND UNDERVALUING ourselves and we miss opportunities, hurt ourselves (and others) in the process when help is really what we need!! BUT here's the GOOD NEWS...with constant honesty, introspection and correcting our OWN mindsets and self defeating behaviors (allowing ourselves t o HEAL AND GROW), we can align with our true values and reach our desired outcomes. The pruning project will produce and provide the place for exponential growth if that is our desire!! Let's choose to bloom beautifully, shall we? ANNIVERSARY EPISODE! Thanks for one year of support for the podcast. To all of the guests past (and future), for all of the subscriptions, shares, comments. It's been awesome, so I figured why not run through all that went down in the year since the first episode, and highlight the stark difference a year can make for your life. Leaving MLSE, working at NBC (briefly), picking up more gigs, and finding the L-word again! Enjoy!
When Robert & Peter started the XChateau Wine Business podcast, the idea was to try and build a community around the business of wine. Part of that has been engaging with our listeners, as well as our guests. While it has happened on an ad hoc basis, we wanted to do it more proactively for our 50th Episode / One Year Anniversary. We recorded our 50th episode live on Clubhouse to have a broader interaction with former guests (Juliana Colangelo, Lauren McPhate, and Maureen Downey), other guest partners (Barb Tyree from Repour and Tess Roche from WineBid) as well as listeners. We covered topics around the current status of re-opening in the US, an update on the fine wine market, favorite episodes, and ideas for future episodes. Listen in and let us know what you think! This episode is sponsored by Sonoma State University’s Wine Executive MBA program. A 17-month, transformative program that builds leadership skills and business acumen focused on the specific needs of the world of wine. Learn more about SSU’s Wine MBA programs here. If this is something you’re considering, the next Global Wine Executive MBA session’s enrollment deadline is June 30, 2021, for courses starting in October!! Can you believe the Derate the Hate podcast is a year old already? Episode 1 was published exactly 1 year ago from the date I'm recording this episode and man what a year it's been!In this 1 year anniversary episode, I briefly recap some of what I saw as the more important episodes that I've recorded over the past year. I also introduce what I believe, if participated in by you the listener in an intentional and purposeful way, it will change your life and in turn change the world.Do you want to change your life? Do you want to change the world?Join me in doing the DTH 30 day Attitude of Gratitude & Personal Accountability Challenge! As I discussed with Denise Albright back in Episode 50, when you begin to record daily things that you are grateful for, you begin to naturally find more things to be grateful for and as a result become a happier person. This is also in large part due to the reticular activating system which I discuss in Episode 52.The same can be said for personal accountability. Much of what happens "to us" in life is the result of our own actions and decisions. By accepting accountability for those actions and decisions, we consciously learn to make better decisions. We as individuals are responsible for our actions, and how we react to outside forces, no matter what those forces may be. No matter how much one wants to deny the truth, much of the "bad" we encounter in life could have been avoided by making better decisions, &/or reacting differently to outside influences.Don't believe me? Prove me wrong! Join me in completing the DTH 30 day Attitude of Gratitude & Personal Accountability Challenge by downloading this FREE form, ordering one of Denise Albright's incredible Gratitude Finder Journals, or simply keep track in a notebook. However you choose to do it, just participate and see how fast your life begins to change! For those who participate, email me your experience and I'm thinking I'll be asking a few listeners to share some of their stories with me on the podcast sometime in late May'21 or possibly June...I also talk in this episode about a feel good story about some fraternity brothers from Louisiana State University that caught wind the the former cook from their fraternity had fallen on hard times and wasn't going to be able to retire as she had planned. What these gentleman did certainly classifies in my book as ordinary people doing extraordinary things! As I do every week, I ask you, “what have you done today to make your life a better life? What have you done today to make the world a better place?” The world is a better place if we are better people, and that begins with each of us leading a better life. Be kind to one another, be grateful for everything you’ve got, and make each and every day the day that you want it to be!Please follow us on Facebook, MeWe, Instagram, Twitter . Your gut really does speak to you. SO LISTEN! Have you ever found yourself on a call with someone and you KNEW that they weren’t a good fit. But, instead of listening to your gut you started working with them anyway and it all fell apart? Me too! Listen in and learn how to stop saying “Yes” to people you should say “NO” to. In the past 8 months or so, I’ve taken on a couple of clients that I knew weren’t a good fit. They either weren’t in my niche or they needed services outside of my scope of work and I knew as we were talking that I should say no. I didn’t. I let scarcity creep back in and decided to go ahead and take them on. Which in the end was a disservice to them and to me. You see when you say yes to someone who isn’t a good fit for you or your business, both you and the client will feel it. They won’t be satisfied, you’ll feel trapped, and if you had only said no, they would likely have found the right fit. So, after a year of giving advice and bringing on amazing experts, I knew that I had to talk about this topic. Photographers run into the same issues as every other service provider in that when you cross your boundaries, you’ll feel the strain. Listen in to learn why you should get comfortable with the word “no” and ways that you can be sure you’re tuning into your gut. Plus, happy 1-Year to the podcast!! In This Episode: [00:45] Hey, hey friends, thanks for joining me today on our Anniversary Episode! [02:14] You need to quit saying yes to things you say no to. [02:54] Stop working with people who are not a good fit. [04:03] When you say no to the wrong opportunities, you leave yourself open to the good opportunities. [07:22] When you say yes to something, make sure it aligns with your goals. [09:34] Two times in the last eight months, I went into a client relationship that wasn't a great fit. [12:38] Make sure you are working with your ideal client, who needs the services you provide and are willing to do those things within your boundaries. [15:03] I parted ways with the two clients that weren't a great fit, and within thirty days, I replaced them with my ideal clients and made more money. [18:01] To grow, we have to challenge those beliefs, doubts, and fears about ourselves. [18:21] Tag me on Instagram when you say no to someone who isn't a great fit. [19:48] Have a great week! Today is Design Museum Everywhere’s 11th birthday — so we have a special episode to celebrate. We talk with two special guests on how design shapes the world around us, how we can all be designers, and all be better designers. Our guest co-host is George White, Chief Innovation Officer at Cantina. George gives his definition of design, why it’s important, and where the field is going. And we discuss some great design examples. Then we bring in Scott Berkun, best-selling author of the new book How Design Makes the World.
