The 8-Ball Tavern‘s new owners Julie, Jen and Audrey, join Herlinda Heras and Daedalus Howell on Brew Ha Ha today. This is their first time on the show. They have taken over the 8-Ball, which has been through quite a few incarnations. Julie has been running it for the last 8 years. Cotati is a college town, SSU is nearby. Herlinda has known the bar since university days, and has known Julie for a while too. Yesterday we celebrated the 55th anniversary of the 1971 California Supreme Court decision that finally allowed women to bartend. Before that, the only women who could bartend legally in California were those whose male family members owned the bar, or those who owned the bar’s license themselves. There were various reasons given for the prohibition, which included some chauvinistic attitudes. Herlinda describes the legal twist. When a bar owner petitioned to open a topless bar, the judgement struck down the previous law as discriminatory. Because of this decision, the state had to allow women bartenders.•••••Visit Russian River Brewing Co. in Santa Rosa on 4th St. and at their big Windsor location. Check out their website and socials for up-to-date hours, menus, beers and more.••••• Griffo Espresso Martinis There is a new vibe and new umbrellas, and it’s a lot cleaner than it was, but without significant changes to the dive bar look. “We just want to make a happy place for people to come and vibe and just be themselves.” There are food trucks that come. Mondays and Tuesdays there are great tacos. Sunday is Fun Day, with all kinds of games. They are open from 7am to 2am every day. They are at 8 Charles Street in Cotati. Some of the old bartenders from back in the day are back, such as Jim and Cassie. This has brought some of the old patrons back too. They have restored the place and positioned it for the future to provide a safe place for people in the community to meet. There is a new coffee machine and they still have three pool tables with a pool league on Friday nights starting June 21. Customer Safety is Paramount The 8-Ball Tavern new owners are committed to making it a safe place for women. There are plenty of security guards and the bar staff are trained to look for signs of bad behavior. They have HenHouse Hazy, Old Caz One-Way IPA, PVA on tap, many beers from Morris distributing, like Bear Republic Racer 5 and Farmer’s Light. There are also have lots of bottles of beers from outside the area. They have seven or eight taps, which are the fresher, local beers. Every Bloody Mary is made by hand and every bartender has a style. Follow the 8-Ball Tavern Instagram page for all the latest info. They have three shifts at their bar, 7 to 12, 12 to 6, then 6 to 2am. Any time is good, and “…the daytime crowd is so cool.” And they would be amenable to a remote broadcast on the back patio, so stay tuned for that!

Socialdemokraternas partisekreterare om den interna kritiken mot partiets migrationspolitik, om expansiv finanspolitik och om att regera med Moderaterna. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radios app. Under årets första månader har intern kritik mot Socialdemokraternas migrationspolitik vuxit. Ett av många utvisningsfall som uppmärksammats i medierna är SSU:s ordförande i Köping, Afnan Agha, som ska utvisas efter tio år i Sverige, som Dagens Nyheter har rapporterat om.Socialdemokraterna har stramat åt sin migrationspolitik sedan 2015 och partiet ligger nu nära tidöpartiernas linje. Det första steget tog Löfvenregeringen när man gjorde tillfälliga uppehållstillstånd till huvudregel i stället för permanenta. 2023 röstade Socialdemokraterna för regeringens förslag att ta bort den ventil som gjorde det möjligt att få uppehållstillstånd pga särskilt ömmande omständigheter. När Miljöpartiet och Vänsterpartiet i början av februari skrev ett utskottsinitiativ om att ändra lagen för att stoppa så kallade tonårsutvisningar fick de stöd av Centern, men inte av S. Först var beskedet att den strama migrationspolitiken skulle ligga fast, sedan föreslog S istället en ”stopplag” för att tillfälligt stoppa utvisningar. Var står egentligen partiledningen i frågan?”Vi vill ändra det så att personer som har uppmärksammats i media, att man kommer hit i unga år, har gått utbildning, fått jobb, etablerat sig har vänner här, kan språket, är en del av samhällsgemenskapen, de personerna ska inte kastas ut från vårt land. Det är det fokuset vi vill ha. Men att rulla tillbaka hela vägen tillbaka till för flera år sedan, det är inte vi beredda att göra. Men de här fallen är inte acceptabla och därför vill vi se de här förändringarna. Det behöver ske nu och återigen, det är regeringen som måste göra det, göra det här och nu kliva fram och agera.”Men vill ni ha tillbaka ventilen? Ja eller nej?”Ventilen för att till exempel 18-åringar som etablerar sig inte ska behöva lämna vårt land. Ja, det vill vi ha och det måste till nu och det måste gå snabbt.”Och det är ju i så fall särskilt ömmande fall, eller tänker du på nåt annat?”Jag vet inte om jag ska formulera en lagstiftning som ser exakt ut men det behövs till en stopplag nu, så att man stoppar de här utvisningarna.”, säger Tobias Baudin.Regera med ModeraternaNyligen sade Ardalan Scherabai (S) till Expressen att han helst skulle vilja att S regerar med M efter valet. Partisekreterare Tobias Baudin säger att dörren står öppen till alla partier förutom Sverigedemokraterna.”Jag möter många väljare som säger: 'Vore det inte bättre att ni satte ner med Moderaterna och gjorde upp om de stora samhällsproblemen?', men som sagt, jag tror inte det är möjligt. Ulf Kristersson fick inte ihop en energiöverenskommelse ens, så hur ska han få ihop det? Så det tror jag inte kommer hända. Det måste hända någonting på den sidan. Eller såklart att hela omvärldsläget med läget kring vad händer med Ukraina och Ryssland och osäkerheten skulle hända. Så det är inte realistiskt. Men på riktigt så står dörren öppen till alla utom Sverigedemokraterna.”Men varför skulle Ulf Kristersson vilja ingå i en regering där Magdalena Andersson är statsminister?”Ja, som sagt, jag tror inte det är så realistiskt. Vi menar såklart allvar med det, men jag tror att det är väldigt långt borta. Bradley Jersak is an author and teacher based in Abbotsford, BC. He currently serves as the Principal of St. Stephen's University (SSU.ca) in New Brunswick, where he continues as the Dean and faculty member of SSU's School of Theology & Culture. He also teaches peace studies courses with JFI.SSU.ca and is a regular Open Table Conference crew lecturer. He is also part of the Plain Truth Ministries team, where he serves as Pastoral Scholar. He writes, edits, and does layout for CWR magazine, CWR press, and the CWRm blog. Facing a $24 million deficit, Sonoma State University has announced plans to eliminate six academic departments, lay off dozens of faculty and end intercollegiate athletics. Sonoma State officials say the university was forced to act due to a nearly 40 percent dip in enrollment and a decline in state funding, at a time when costs to run the university are on the rise. Background About Laura Alice Watt Laura Alice Watt is a professor emerita of environmental history and policy at Sonoma State University in Northern California. She arrived in the Westfjords in July 2020 with a Fulbright-NSF Arctic Scholar grant to conduct historical research in Iceland, and decided to stay long-term.  She teaches occasional courses at the University Centre of the Westfjords, where she also provides writing support for graduate students with their thesis projects.Before taking early retirement from Sonoma State, she spent fifteen years as professor in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Planning, and also Graduate Coordinator for SSU's Cultural Resource Management masters program. She now lives on the northern shore of Dýrafjörður with her two cats, and is an avid photographer and knitter. Early box office tracking forecasts suggest the movie is set to open with a less-than-stellar performance, potentially even underperforming Jared Leto's "Morbius," which itself was a box office letdown. This news is sending shockwaves through the Sony Spider-Man Universe (SSU), raising questions about the future of the franchise. Moreover, the film's reported $80 million production budget means it needs to cross the $200 million mark globally to break even, a feat looking increasingly unlikely given the current tracking figures​​. Should "Madame Web" fail to swing up to financial success, it could have dire implications for Sony's plans with the Spider-Man Universe.
