Do you find yourself in a constant state of proving? Proving that you are a good enough leader, parent, partner, fill in the blank? Do you know what drives your need to prove to others and yourself? When does the need to prove you are good enough and worthy enough show up the most? At work, in your relationships with others, or maybe in your relationship with yourself? When you fall into a constant state of proving your worthiness and value, your unaddressed relational wounds fuel an excessive need for validation and recognition from those around you that exhausts and leaves you in an excessive loop of hustling, anxiety, and doubt. But when you commit to doing the work to understand your underlying motivations to constantly prove yourself, you can release these burdens and develop a more secure, confident approach to leadership, relationships, and conflict resolution in all areas of your life.Arielle Estoria (she/her) is a poet, author, actor, and model. Her motto, "Words not for the ears but for the soul" stems from her dedication to remind anyone who encounters her work that words are meant to be felt and experienced not just heard, with a specific heart in empowering, encouraging and making space for audiences of women to feel free and at home in their own bodies.Arielle has shared her work through custom spoken word pieces, workshops and themed keynote talks with companies such as Google, Sofar Sounds, Lululemon, Dressember, Tedx, the SKIMS campaign by Kim Kardashian and more. When was the last time you felt truly seen, flaws and all, without pretending or minimizing yourself? For many, those moments of radical self-acceptance are rare. Today we're sharing stories from three inspiring women - author Alex Elle, teacher Rosie Acosta, and poet Arielle Estoria - who have uncovered their truest selves after shedding layers of conditioning. Their profoundly personal journeys offer wisdom for us all. We explored what it takes to embrace who you are, not who you "should" be, and how sharing your unique light can help you find belonging. Their stories and words are infused with empathy, compassion, and generosity of spirit. My hope is this episode will spark self-reflection and help you reconnect with your authentic voice. Because when we can be radically seen and loved fully - that's when we glimpse our highest potential.Episode TranscriptYou can find Alex at: Website | Instagram | Listen to Our Full-Length Convo with AlexYou can find Rosie at: Website | Instagram | Listen to Our Full-Length Convo with RosieYou can find Arielle at: Website | Instagram | Listen to Our Full-Length Convo with ArielleCheck out our offerings & partners: My New Book SparkedMy New Podcast SPARKED. Author and Poet Arielle Estoria hasn't always recognized her worth. In her vulnerable conversation with Ashley, Arielle explains how engaging in constant comparison throughout her life made her feel small. While uplifting other women with inspiring words always came naturally to her, Arielle often struggled to encourage herself. Raised as a pastor's kid, the poet also reveals how ignoring the beauty of her body to focus solely on the Biblical rules that governed her soul led to living a “very disembodied spirituality.” Through learning to speak kindly to her body, listening to her inner voice, and embracing her flaws Arielle peeled back the layers of who she was to reveal the bright light she was always meant to be.Want more podcasts from OWN? What if all of life is a journey of unfolding into your true Self? And what if there were phases to this unfolding? Our guest, Arielle Estoria, shares with us the five phases of our life unfoldment, which she expands on in her latest book, The Unfolding: An Invitation to Coming Home To Your True Self.Actor, Poet, and Author, Arielle, observed her becoming and unbecoming in the last few years and noticed that coming home to your true Self is a process. To Arielle, we awaken to the changes that need to happen, we grieve who we once were while we create space for who we're becoming, we healingly piece our Self and our life back together, we open our Self up to embrace the Light within and without, and we ultimately end up home - as our true Self. In this conversation, Arielle and I explore the parts of her story that revealed and clarified these phases leading her back home. We talk about how there is a lot of unbecoming in becoming, how dismantling takes place when new foundations are built, how what others may be envisioning for us may not actually be for us, and beyond. What a f*cking way to end the month, and what a f*cking time to be a woman in the United States of America (or literally anyone who isn't a cishet white man)... The release of this episode is interestingly timely because the day we recorded was only hours after the horrific domestic terrorist attack at a supermarket in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo, NY. While many of us are experiencing so much sadness + grief, I hope you're also making space for the good. More importantly, I hope you're staying informed, vigilant, and plugged into your community. I, personally, have been trying to be more mindful of who I am serving and where I'm putting my time, energy, and money. Before diving into this episode with my awesome guest, I share some of my thoughts about SCOTUS' recent overturning of Roe v Wade. Respectfully, if you'd like to skip this part, head to minute 2:51. And now onto my next guest, Arielle Estoria. Arielle is a Spoken Word Poet, gifted Writer and Author, captivating and authentic Emcee, Speaker, Model and Actor. Through various aspects of storytelling, Arielle creates environments and spaces where audiences have permission to be vulnerable and seen. Her motto, "Words not for the ears but for the soul" stems from her dedication to remind anyone who encounters her and her work that words are meant to be felt and experienced not just heard. With a specific heart in empowering, encouraging and making space for audiences of women to feel at home in their own bodies. I met Arielle through our mutual friend, co-founder of The Rising Tide Society, Natalie Franke. I am so grateful for the intro, because, as you know, connecting with other creatives + creators who prioritize community gets me SO JUICED. In this episode, Arielle and I discuss the unconventional life of a content creator, detaching from social media when it's legit your job, and creating space to let in the exciting + uncomfy feelings. Welcome back to The Heart Posture podcast! This season, Michelle and Jas step back to learn from a variety of guests who practice yoga in tandem with other spiritual and faith practices. In this episode, they speak with Arielle Estoria, author, model, writer, spoken-word artist, actress, and more. Ari "Speaks through words that can't only be heard, but demand to be felt and experienced." She's a brand ambassador for Lululemon, and has partnered with Skims, Thinx, Etsy, and more. She shares her journey from her baptist upbringing to finding connection with herself, and ultimately God, on her yoga mat, and speaks openly and honestly about the challenges that come with deconstructing ones faith, and the ultimate freedom she's found from it.
Arielle Estoria has got some words of inspiration – and as a poet, author + artist, you know they're some really good words too. Growing up a performer, she found it easier to be embodied as someone else. When she realized that, she knew she had to find a way to get comfortable as herself. Arielle talks about her journey to discovering her own character and letting go of parts of yourself and being okay with that because it's all a part of our everlasting evolution. Arielle Estoria is a poet, an author, and speaker, a creative, and a multidisciplinary artist .. She is a beautifully balance of pursuing the calling on her heart, and taking care of herself. This episode is all about the wild cards of the family. The people who have a calling, and chase it regardless of the noise. When you know the "what", you don't need the "how" right away. It feels insane. It feels out of control, and it is all 100% worth it. We talk all about this, so if you're out there in this boat, you feel empowered to keep on keeping on. We talk relationships. Human experience cannot be captured by headlines and hashtags. To really understand each other, we must open our hearts and ears to experiences outside of our own. Whether it be through spoken word, visual art, or the simplicity of a shared conversation, to honor the image of God is to do the hard work of empathy and listening. To get at the heart of the simple commandments to love God and love others, we must practice gentleness and graciousness with each other in dialogue that extends beyond one message or conversation. Now more than ever, we must fight back against isolation and desensitization by holding space for raw, human emotion and suffering to be collectively felt.Spoken word poet, author, and speaker Arielle Estoria has created a unique space for others to hear words not only for the ears, but for the soul. Her spoken word poetry encompasses injustice, women's empowerment, self-love, and other engaging topics that foster meaningful connections between one community and another. Arielle believes that each one of us has something specific to offer to the world and encourages us to faithfully use our gifts to bring about freedom in one another. She joins Eddie and Chris to discuss “Remember Her,” her recent poem honoring Breonna Taylor, empowering women to seek strength and fullness, struggling to find her authority as a woman in a patriarchal tradition, and the way in which performing arts give a voice to the voiceless. In all of her work, Arielle challenges her audience to not only hear her message, but encounter and apply it in a greater context.Follow Arielle Estoria on the web: https://arielleestoria.com Find Arielle's work and other resources below:https://arielleestoria.com/work https://msha.ke/arielleestoria/ Listen to “Remember Her” hereListen to “Human” hereCheck out Arielle's sweatshirts, mugs, books, and more hereFind Arielle on iTunes and SpotifyFollow Arielle on social media:https://www.instagram.com/arielleestoria/https://twitter.com/arielleestoria/https://www.youtube.com/user/estorious https://www.facebook.com/arielleestoria https://www.pinterest.com/arielleestoria/
