Today, I welcome Jody Gelb, Broadway actor and author of the heart-wrenching memoir She May Be Lying Down But She May Be Very Happy, to explore how joy can coexist with unimaginable loss. When Jody's daughter, Louisa, was born with severe brain damage, her journey through grief, acceptance, and spiritual resilience redefined what it means to live fully. In this raw and deeply moving conversation, we discuss intuitive parenting, preparing for death with grace, and the sacred rituals that heal.

Greetings, wonderful souls! Thank you for joining me on another episode of The Calling. Your presence here is truly special. Today, I'm eager to share a dream that transcended the boundaries of reality, a dream that reshaped my existence. So, let's dive into the depths of this mystical experience together.Summary:In this episode, I recount a dream that became a pivotal moment in my spiritual journey. The dream started in the familiar setting of the agency where I worked, but it quickly transformed into an extraordinary encounter with three sacred light beings. Their telepathic transmission led me through walls, into a mesmerizing forest, and eventually to the astral realms. In this higher Heaven, a place and no place, I experienced the presence of angelic beings, divine energy, and illuminated screens projecting codes and transmissions. The sacredness of this dream lingers within me, a constant reminder of a reality beyond what our eyes perceive.Key Takeaways:Dream Transformation: An ordinary dream evolving into a profound spiritual experience.Encounter with Light Beings: Three sacred light beings seeking support and collaboration.Telepathic Transmission: Communication beyond words, a deep exchange of frequencies.Journey Through Walls: Shifting from the physical to the metaphysical, breaking through barriers.Enchanted Forest: A rich, otherworldly forest representing the richness of life and beyond.Elevation and Oneness: Merging with the light beings, ascending through the astral realms.Higher Heaven: An indescribable space where directions and boundaries fade away.Divine Presence: Feeling the presence of angelic beings and the Most High, a sacred encounter.Illuminated Screens: A glimpse into a reality with no shadows, projecting codes and transmissions.Awakening Transformation: Waking up transformed, realising a shift in consciousness. We are in our seventh year of starting Sequences podcasts, beginning with easy accessible electronic music, i.e. sequential, Berlin school, ambient & more, but steadily over the years expanded our range to include strange & varied electronics, even the weird & experimental. Sometimes asked why don’t the podcasts be more like DJ mixes, that flow easier on the ear, but that’s not us, not only do we like to feature new releases most of the time, but also here to educate your musical listening, delving deeper into the genre. This issue has many of our favourite artists with new albums, including David Wright, Andy Pickford, Robert Otto, Bouvetoya, Marconi Union etc. Representing the female side and not for the first time, Oliviaway, Polly Fae & Enlia, all erring on the minimalist ambient side. Just a mention on the few newcomers, Bart Hawkins distinctive world of modular synthesis & pure electronic sound shaping, Corp & Telepath who are no strangers to the vapourware,(what ever that means), & the ambient scene, the critically claimed Chicago based contemporary musician Steve Hauschildt, spanning ambient, techno, arpeggiated electronica & post Kosmische styles. Little Ambient Machine soundscapes & atmospheres made with a modular setup only, featured on the latest third edition of Tone Science Module, on the Din label. Beyond Dreams: where will the Tightrope take us? We tackle the topic. About the episode: On the Fall 2018 season of The Tightrope, we learned that, born from our beautiful childhood dreams, we can find success as adults doing meaningful work. Through their own storytelling, our guests inspired us to seek out work and career opportunities that are profound, empower people, protect the planet, and fun-to-do. But we also learned that dreams alone cannot lead to meaningful work. We must aid our dreams through exploration of work and entrepreneurial opportunities, a solid and well-thought-out strategy to pivot into a new role, and then bold action to make it all happen. So why is this so important? Because, somewhere between childhood and our adult years, most of us abandon our dreams of doing meaningful work. Instead, we settle for meaningless work that covers expenses and offers some benefits…but renders us bored, miserable, angry, and longing to do better. Beyond dreams, THIS is our journey. Let us walk the Tightrope together to leave despair behind and the promise of meaningful work ahead in our sights. We’ll be taking some time off to prepare for the next season of The Tightrope podcast, expand our value proposition to you our listeners, and to help and inspire more people to live their dreams of doing meaningful work. And, while we’re doing that, we ask you for your help, to do four things: FIRST: Sign up for The Dan Smolen Experience and our newsletter. You can find us on the web at DanSmolen.com. SECOND: Subscribe to our podcast so you can catch up on missed episodes and get new ones as soon as they stream. Just keyword “The Tightrope with Dan Smolen” on Apple Podcast or wherever you get podcasts. THIRD: Help us get the word out by referring five friends and colleagues to The Dan Smolen Experience. Point them to dansmolen.com to sign up. AND LAST: Tell us your ideas for future podcast episode topics and other things by writing us at info@dansmolen.com. If we chose your topic, we’ll give a nice shout-out on the podcast. Where this walk across the Tightrope takes us…we don’t know for sure. But we’ll take it the inspiring journey TOGETHER. And it will be amazing! EPISODE DATE: December 14, 2018 Photo credits: Woman in Diner, Getty Images

We'll be taking some time off to prepare for the next season of The Tightrope podcast, expand our value proposition to you our listeners, and to help and inspire more people to live their dreams of doing meaningful work. And, while we're doing that, we ask you for your help, to do four things: FIRST: Sign up for The Dan Smolen Experience and our newsletter. You can find us on the web at DanSmolen.com. And it will be amazing! EPISODE DATE: December 14, 2018 Photo credits: Woman in Diner, Getty Images

“The year is 3326. Nigel Sheldon, one of the founders of the Commonwealth, receives a visit from the Raiel—self-appointed guardians of the Void, the enigmatic construct at the core of the galaxy that threatens the existence of all that lives. The Raiel convince Nigel to participate in a desperate scheme to infiltrate the Void. Once inside, Nigel discovers that humans are not the only life-forms to have been sucked into the Void, where the laws of physics are subtly different and mental powers indistinguishable from magic are commonplace. The humans trapped there are afflicted by an alien species of biological mimics—the Fallers—that are intelligent but merciless killers. Yet these same aliens may hold the key to destroying the threat of the Void forever—if Nigel can uncover their secrets. As the Fallers’ relentless attacks continue, and the fragile human society splinters into civil war, Nigel must uncover the secrets of the Fallers—before he is killed by the very people he has come to save. Well the selected bands are back to fight it out for that divine title of Soundclash Winners 2011. Yes, the semi-finals are here which means more music, more sweat, and more ridiculous interviews from Stratcast. Round one saw Beyond Dreams of Grandeur facing the wrath of zombie wannabes Death of Johnny Alpha. Both bands have previously been very successful and popular, so this was not an easy ride for either band. They would need a cunning plan to ensure a place in the final. Beyond Dreams of Grandeur were first up, and ready to kick zombie ass. There was no faulting their set, with excellent choice of tracks, brilliant vocals and instrumentals that would rock any rocker’s world. This band have shown a real passion for live events, and it was clear to see, well hear, that this has been a new focus of theirs. It is a strategy that seems to be working because this was pure live rock that deserved a place in the semi-final, and excellent practice if they were to make it to the final. The only criticism that could be said about the band was that their stage presence was not as inspiring as their music, but surely that really isn’t something to worry about… Well apparently it might be. Zombie obsessed Death of Johnny Alpha followed with what can only be described as the best entrance to a set that has ever been seen at any live event. Johnny Alpha has obviously been researching, because zombies are walking the earth, and they’re dressed to impress. And impress they did, with a rocking set that would have woken the dead in a ten mile radius plus their well thought out stage act, Johnny Alpha had certainly done their homework. However, would the crowd buy into a zombie stage gimmick? Both bands were impressive music wise, but is it a case of dreams coming true, or nightmares wearing red shirts for the final vote outcome. To find out the first band to secure a place in the allegedly last ever final, check out the podcast that also features exclusive band interviews and banter. With only two more rounds before the final, music is going to get bigger and better at Stratcast. More news on the end of Soundclash will be featured in upcoming shows, let us know your thoughts on the possible end of an unsigned music era.
After last week’s lacklustre phenomenon, all was put right with the music tonight. The curse felt like being nice and rewarded us with an extra band; Dirty Voice joined Coffee Shop Situation and Hurtseason for the last set of round one. Indie band Coffee Shop Situation had the honours of getting the crowd in the mood for a night of what can only be described as music debauchery. These four young lads had it all, unfortunately that included a broken string for the bass guitar. However, the crowd were very forgiving tonight, and embraced the variety of catchy tunes that these guys had to offer. What they lacked in stage presence was made up for with their extremely noteworthy talent. The drumming was even commended by compere Andi, a rare occurrence indeed. Hurtseason was a change in style, as we veered towards the metal style attitude of the night. This band had everything, from raw vocals to a tremendous use of instruments. These guys were the hardcore metal version of Coffee Shop Situation, with total respect from the crowd who could recognise that this was metal talent at its best. We have definitely been spoilt for choice for a variety of talent tonight. Last up was last minute addition Dirty Voice. Not as heavy as Hurtseason, but not as light as Coffee Shop Situation. Again a lot of passion was put into their performance with pleasing results. A suitable stage presence blended with some courageous tracks, this was a last minute band with no intentions of being last minute. With an accolade of talent available, it really was going to be a close call for the eventual winners. Check the podcast to find out who did win, along with exclusive interviews with the bands. We’ll be back with the night’s winner, joining: The Death of Johnny Alpha, Deflection Theory, Beyond Dreams of Grandeur, Upon Collide, Basement Services, The Doktors Rendezvous, and Wave Goodbye Sunset. Ladies and gentlemen, round two promises to be a very close call throughout!
Soundclash 2011 – Round 1 Week 2 January 12th, 2011 saw yet another band drop out of the competition, leaving just two to battle it out. Was the absences of Outbreak, and Victory Beat from week one, the start of a Soundclash curse? First up was Beyond Dreams of Grandeur, complete with banner and an accolade of outstanding alternative rock/metal tracks. The five guys certainly have a hunger for performing, combined with a united stage presence. After forming in 2009, could 2011 be the year for this head-strong band? Following Beyond Dreams of Grandeur was The Callout complete with a strong following of fans in the audience. With a huge respect for the set up at Cox's Yard for Soundclash, we were treated to a softer rock style of tracks. The three lads performed with great resilience combined with a cheeky callout style. But was this enough to get them through to round two?
