The IDF arrest of the Islamic Jihad's West Bank leader earlier this week prompted the high security alert in Israel's south amid concerns of retaliatory rocket or anti-tank fire. The Gaza periphery area has effectively been in a lockdown for the past three days -- as major roads in the region that are exposed to the strip were closed, train service halted; public bus routes altered and residents of Gaza border communities instructed to remain near their homes or protected spaces. According to (Ret.) Major General Yaakov Amidror, a former national security advisor and head of research in IDF intelligence, the limitations are well-calculated.
