Carter Pease ended 2019 on a high note. He finished second in the Lucas Oil School of Racing Shootout in Sebring and by doing so he knew what he would be doing in 2020. Well, he knew what he would be doing for half of the season. Due to his finish in the shootout, Carter earned a scholarship to compete in half of the race weekends on the upcoming 2020 Lucas Oil Formula Car Series. So how does a recent college graduate fund the rest of the season? What I have found out by talking to Carter is that it is not his plan to do anything halfway. What does the winner of the 2019 F3 Americas Championship do for an encore? How about claiming a podium finish in the 1st race of 2020 in the IMSA Prototype Challenge at Daytona International Raceway. I had the pleasure of catching up with Dakota Dickerson, 2015 Team USA Scholarship winner, to discuss his great start to 2020 and his Indy Dreams. Dakota still dreams of the Indy 500 someday, but in the interim he is making the best of his partnership with Ligier and MLT Motorsports on the IMSA Circuit. https://youtu.be/ZEdnj8aIV0E To give some context, IMSA Prototype Challenge is a six-event endurance racing championship with two drivers sharing a car to race for either one hour 45 minutes or three hours. The championship requires that an FIA rated bronze driver (for example, my teammate Dean Baker) pairs up with an FIA rated silver driver (myself). We believe we’ve created a strong lineup for the year. Dean is an experienced prototype racer and competed against us in the 2019 season. Unlike the junior formula car championships that we had been competing in, Prototype Challenge allows different manufacturers to compete in the same class. We all have the same tires, engine and transmission but we can choose between chassis manufacturers. We will be competing in the Ligier JSP3 which is a very nice continuation of our relationship and success with Ligier in the F4 US Championship (Ligier JSF4) and F3 Americas Championship (Ligier JSF3). The other popular chassis is the Norma M30 which typically yields great straight-line speed but lacks in aerodynamic grip relative to the Ligier. It creates great racing and a fun, competitive dynamic in the paddock between the two manufacturers.Dakota Dickerson MLT Motorsports was only formed less than one year ago, having made its debut at Sebring, so this year represented its first-ever visit to Daytona International Speedway the first week of January for the opening race of the new season. There was a lot of work involved but we made great progress during the three practice sessions, and both myself and Dean felt very comfortable in the car. The only real item up in the air was our aero settings. We knew we couldn’t compete with the Normas in a straight line, but with the impending rainy weather on race day, some extra aero seemed like our best bet to challenge for a win. Dean spent the final practice session prepping for qualifying and we all felt strong heading into Saturday. Dakota Dickerson Our next event will be at Sebring International Raceway during the “Super Sebring” event in March. We will be working really hard as a team to continue improving, and I’m fully confident we will be able to challenge for another win there as well. None of this would be possible without the support and guidance of Dr. Mike Thompson, MLT Motorsports, Ligier Automotive NA and all of our personal partners. Likewise, I really appreciate you all for following my progress and I hope to have a “winning” blog for all of you come March. Wyatt joined 33 Dreams of Indy Podcast after participating in the Palm Beach and Homestead FL portions of the Yacademy Winter Testing with his teammates Christian Rasmussen and Christian Bogle. Wyatt Brichacek - USF2000 in 2020 with Jay Howard Driver Development Here is the announcement from the team. Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) is delighted to announce that Wyatt Brichacek will be joining the team's Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship outfit for the 2020 season. Having competed for JHDD's F4 US Championship team in 2018 and 2019, Brichacek also made his Cooper Tires USF2000 debut at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca for the season finale back in September.  After demonstrating consistent top-10 pace throughout the event, the logical progression for the young American is to compete full time on the Road to Indy in 2020.  "I am very excited to be taking the next step in my career with a team I am already very comfortable with," said an excited Brichacek. "I learned a lot in 2019 and combined with the teams noteworthy first year on the Road to Indy, it?s looking like 2020 will be a very successful year. The first round of the USF2000 championship can?t come soon enough!" Team-owner Jay Howard was encouraged by Brichacek?s breakout performances in 2019, and with a strong off-season testing program in place, the plan is to hit the ground running when the season gets underway on the streets of St Petersburg in March. ?Wyatt really came to life in the second half of the 2019 season, and his performance at Weathertech Raceway was nothing less than he deserved,? commented Howard.  ?Now that he?s getting seat time over the winter, I?m confident he will enjoy a successful rookie season in USF2000.  Overall, it?s exciting to welcome Wyatt back to the team as not only will he be quick, but he fits right in with all of the boys which is very important as we look to battle for championships.? Brichacek and JHDD are in the midst of an off-season testing program, before Road to Indy Spring Training brings the 2020 Cooper Tires USF2000 field together for the first time on March 7-8 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  The 2020 season officially gets underway the following weekend on the Streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, March 13-15.

If you live in Indiana you know on Sundays it's impossible to buy beer, wine or liquor. That is in their retail form. You can still go to a bar or restaurant to have a beer with dinner. But if you want to take any home your best bet are growlers. These 64 oz. glass containers allow you to head to your favorite brewery, fill and carry out your favorite brew. Even on Sundays. This week on the show I went to three brewers in indy and filled three growlers. Then headed to suburbia. Support the show on patreon here!
