Hala, a darle.

Lighting Designer, Paula Dinkel, fell in love with stage lighting in junior high school. Her dance and music training were a perfect lead-in to a life in entertainment lighting design. Growing up in a military family prepared her for frequent travel and overseas relocations. She earned her BA, MA and MFA from Cal State University Fullerton in both lighting and scene design. While a student, she worked as an assistant technical director, and became a founding member of the Cabaret Dinner Theater in Fullerton CA. Paula taught part time at Golden West College, Cal State San Bernardino, and full time for a year at USC in Los Angeles. In 1980, Paula was recruited by WED Enterprises (now Walt Disney Imagineering) and began her 38+ year career in theme park lighting design. Her most notable design projects include numerous shops, restaurants, and landscapes at Disneyland. She was the lead lighting designer for DisneyQuest at Walt Disney World and Chicago, and for Club Disney and Disney Studios Paris. Her favorite project is the Rock'n Roller Coaster Avec Aerosmith at Disney Studios Paris. Her continuing role as an educator includes working with stage lighting and controls manufacturer ETC on their student sponsorship and mentoring program. Now retired from Disney, she consults on theme park projects, including on site lighting direction for the Motiongate Theme Park in Dubai.Paula is also one of the contributing authors of the book “Women of Walt Disney Imagineering: 12 Women Reflect on Their Trailblazing Theme Park Careers.”
“I think it's terribly dangerous for an artist to fulfill other people's expectations. If you feel safe in the area that you're working in, you're not working in the right area. Always go a little further into the water than you feel you're capable of being in. Go a little bit out of your depth. And when you don't feel that your feet are quite touching the bottom, you're just about in the right place to do something exciting.”— David Bowie, David Bowie: The Last Five Years On the 1st anniversary of the release of the revised and expanded 2nd edition of Steve's best-selling book Remarkable Retail: How to Win & Keep Customers in the Age of Disruption--which confusingly is also the 2nd anniversary of the 1st edition's release--we celebrate its success and impact with our very special guest Forrester Research VP & Principal Analyst Sucharita Kodali. Sucharita is not only one of retail's top thought leaders, but she was our very first guest on the podcast back in September of 2022 and she graciously wrote the Foreword to Remarkable Retail's 2nd edition. We unpack some of the key lessons from the book and take stock of Steve and Sucharita's predictive prowess. We also wonder aloud about whether there is complacency setting in among too many retailers, if a "collapse of the unremarkable middle" is inevitable and whether certain oft talked about "innovations" are victims of the hype cycle. But first examine the retail news of the week that caught our attention, including trying to be glass is half full on JC Penney's new strategy to "love the customers that love us." We then move on to marvel at Shein's stratospheric $100 billion valuation, before weighing in on whether the Neiman Marcus Group's new partnership is rather Farfetched (see what we did there?). We close with our take on what to make of Walmart's bold moves to deal with trucking shortages. Note: The John Oliver "This Week Tonight" segment referenced in the episode can be found here. And don't forget to check out our bonus episode recapping this year's Shoptalk conference, recorded live from high above the Vegas Strip. A. Welcome to the Conversations with CommerceNext podcast, I'm your host Michael LeBlanc, and this podcast is brought to you in conjunction with CommerceNext and presented by Bloomreach First, welcome to Season two of Conversations with CommerceNext. Thank you to Bloomreach for being our sponsor this season. This is different than our typical podcast where we learn about an industry leader and get career and marketing advice from them - although, those topics would be great for another time with our special guest today.Today we're going to dig into research that CommerceNext conducted in the past two weeks where we surveyed 84 merchants of various sizes about the 2021 holiday season including promotional levels, expectations for margins, biggest concerns and more. We thought this would be timely because, for the 2nd year in a row, we have a very unique holiday season. We want to give a big thank you to the retail executives that took a few minutes to take the survey. We can't do this without your support. And, we want to thank our partner, Forrester's Sucharita Kodali, who is here with us today to talk about the findings. CommerceNext reached out to Sucharita a couple weeks ago about doing a survey like this and she quickly jumped in and offered to help. She provided great input on the questions and she did an analysis based on the results. Thanks for tuning into this episode of Conversations with CommerceNext.

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - Start your engines! It's time to race off to Disney's Hollywood Studios to check out Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy. Recorded on August 16, 2019. TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we venture to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to watch Lightening McQueen’s Racing Academy. The Guidemap describes this attraction by saying: Get pumped for a high-octane experience where you’ll learn what it takes to be a champion from the legendary racer, Lightning McQueen. Since this is a show, there are no age or height requirements for this attraction. Before we hear how Lightning McQueen stays in shape, here are five fast facts about Lighting McQueen’s Racing Academy. 1. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was announced on the Disney Parks Blog on June 29, 2018 and had its debut performance less than a year later on March 31, 2019. 2. Prior to hosting Lightning McQueen, the building this attraction is in housed Club Disney an interactive dance party for families which debuted on December 5, 2015. 3. The giant wrap-around screen used in the show is 200 feet long and two stories high! 4. This attraction is, obviously, based on the Disney/Pixar Cars franchise, but an interesting bit of trivia is that elements from each of the three Cars films are featured in the show. 5. The Lightning McQueen animatronic featured in the show is very similar to the ones in Disney California Adventures Radiator Springs Racers. However this animatronic actually has the ability to completely turn around and face the simulator he’s using. Let’s start our engines and check out Lighting McQueen’s Racing Academy. After the show I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones put them on now as we race off to Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Club Disney premiered at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios on December 4th, 2015. The Disney character inspired, kids themed dance club was the first event hosted daily in the brand new “Sunset Showplace” building. Sunset Showcase is the new “Multi-Purpose” building located behind the Rock and Roller Coaster, next to the Tower of Terror, where there had been a cast member parking lot. Today February 6th 2016 is the Last Day for Club Disney... Only 2 Short Months after Opening!!! I was able to visit Club Disney, and I have to say, it was a welcome break to the Florida heat and a great spot to let the kids release some energy. It was also a great spot to charge up some devices while the kids danced and played. It was one of the only places I know of that you could dance with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Goofy at the same time! Who knows, with all of the changes happening at Hollywood Studios, Club Disney could be back at any time… so be sure to check that times guide! Things are going to get interesting.
