Hoodies are very popular at Walt Disney World, especially during the evening hours during the colder months. So which hoodie should you wear and where did hoodies come from in the first place? The History of the Hoodie: Who Invented the Hoodie? Which Style of Hoodie is the Best Hoodie for a Disney World Vacation? All Hoodies are Not Created Equal, So How Do You Choose? Who Invented the Hoodie? Today's popular hoodie has a long history that goes all the way back to the 1930s, when the Knickerbocker Knitting Company designed the first hoodie sweatshirt (they basically sewed a hood onto a sweatshirt to add extra warmth). Today, that pioneering hoodie company is known as Champion. After its launch, the hoodie gained popularity with the military, who found the design to be great for training purposes. Colleges and universities gave the hoodie enhanced popularity in the 1950s and 1960s, when the hoodie became synonymous with sportswear and branded logo hoodies emerged. In the 1970s, skaters, surfers and the emerging rap and hip hop scene gave the hoodie a more “cool” and urban street vibe. With the release of the first Rocky film in 1976, the hoodie gained even more exposure as apparel for gritty athletics, as Rocky trained hard in his hoodie. Nowadays, the hoodie remains very popular with even more variations: from sports, to street style, college athletics and functional casual wear. The hoodie is now firmly cemented as an iconic staple of casual wear apparel. The Five Types of HoodiesThere are many variations of the classic hoodie, but the five main hoodie styles we tend to see include: Pullover Hoodie with PouchPullover Hoodie, CroppedZip-Up HoodiePullover Hoodie no PouchPullover Hoodie, Short SleevedWithin each of these five hoodie categories there are various types and styles, primarily based on weight and fabric. There are branded and non-branded hoodies and various color options and all-over-prints. Hoodies are both a fashion statement and functional piece of apparel. Unlike the original plain grey hoodie (the kind of hoodie that Rocky wore in the ‘70s), it's rare nowadays that you'll see a plain blank hoodie with no graphic at all. The hoodie has gone fully commercial, a trend that took off in the 1990s. Hoodies at Walt Disney World: Which Should You Wear? At Walt Disney World, hoodies tend to appear in full force when the weather gets a little chilly and Cast Members roll out the hoodie racks for eager buyers. So which hoodie is best? The most common and most popular hoodies are pullovers and zip ups. Pullover hoodies tend to be more popular, but if you prefer the convenience of a front zipper (the hoodie jacket), then the zip up hoodie can add more flexibility. Aesthetically, the pullover hoodie tends to have cleaner lines and a more traditional look – especially if a graphic is featured on the front (where it won't be broken up by a zipper).Ultimately, the choice of which hoodie is best comes down to personal preference: the perfect combination of comfort, fit and style.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. Are you traveling to Walt Disney World in August? Here is what you need to know to pack for August weather in Orlando. The Hottest and Steamiest Month of the Year is Still a Great Time to Go, If You Go PreparedAugust at Walt Disney World is the hottest, stickiest and wettest month of the year for a Disney vacation. The key to a great time is knowing what to pack and how to plan your days for the dog days of summer at Disney World. What to Pack for Walt Disney World in August 2024We spend a week at Walt Disney World every August and the lazy, hazy days of August require that you pack appropriately for the weather you'll likely encounter. This means packing for heat, humidity and being prepared for lots of pop-up wet weather.Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World in August 2024The forecast for August 2024 at Walt Disney World includes the kind of oppressive heat and humidity that you pretty much expect in Orlando at this time of year. For August 2024, Orlando and Walt Disney World daytime highs should range from 90°F (32°C) to 93°F (34°C), while nighttime lows will hover around 79°F (26°C) to 81°F (27°C). These temperatures do not include humidity/humidex, so be aware that it will feel much hotter than this on most days, likely into the 100°F+ range. During August at Walt Disney World, you don't get much relief from the heat and humidity after dark. The humidity has a huge impact on both your overall stamina and the clothes that you wear, so pack wisely and accordingly.Another consideration to bear in mind always when visiting Walt Disney World in August is the potential for very active weather, including tropical storms and hurricanes. You can usually plan for these in advance, so be sure to check the local weather (on a local Orlando weather app) the day before you leave for your vacation. That will give you the most up-to-date outlook for the week (even then, weather can change quickly in Florida in the summer). What to Wear in Walt Disney World in AugustThis is the time of year when you want to pack light. Light colors, lightweight clothing and quick dry clothing and footwear are what you should aim to pack. At Walt Disney World in August, pop-up afternoon thunderstorms (including very heavy rain) are a normal occurrence. Try to avoid planning any important outdoor activities between approximately 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. If you do, be aware that weather could impact your plans.Pack light color and lightweight t-shirts and tops. Quick dry shorts and bottoms are also a great choice (they tend to be lightweight) along with footwear that can dry quickly or at least not hold moisture for too long if you get caught in a deluge of rain.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. March is a very busy month at Walt Disney World. From Spring Break travelers to the EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival and Easter displays popping up at many Disney Resort hotels, it's a fairly crowded and busy time of year. It's also a time of year when the weather can have some dramatic swings. We share our top tips for what to pack and what to wear on your Walt Disney World vacation in March. What to Pack for a March Disney Vacation What should you pack and what should you wear for a Walt Disney World vacation in March? March is a shoulder month, where winter meets spring. At Walt Disney World that means anything from daytime highs in the 60s to the 80s. We have experienced it all over the years, but generally March tends to be a pretty good month for weather. This is Central Florida though, so even day-before forecasts can change on a dime. Weather Forecast for Walt Disney World, March 2024 We recommend that you always check the 7-day weather forecast on the day before you leave for your Walt Disney World vacation. Use a local weather station for this and not a generic weather app or service. For 2024, the March forecast for Orlando looks not too bad. Daytime temperatures should be in the mid-70s to low-80s, with nighttime lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. All in all that is pretty pleasant weather for a Disney vacation. However, it's looking like March 2024 may have a few more chances for rain than is usual for this time of year. So we will account for that in our packing and what to wear recommendations Know Yourself and Your Family Members What you wear in March depends on your tolerance. If you can brave the cool mornings in shorts and a t-shirt (when it's upper 50s or lower 60s outside), then you will be good to go for the day, because by 11:00 a.m. it is typically quite warm. This way you won't need to layer up and carry any extra clothing for your park visits. So an hour or two of cool and then you'll be good to go. If you don't like cool mornings, then a light layer will help to take the edge off for the first couple of hours. After that, it can get quite warm, so you'll have to carry your jacket for the rest of the day. So know your preference (and those of your family members) and you can pack and dress accordingly for Walt Disney World in March. March 2024 is looking like it will be rainier than usual; so you may want to carry a micro travel umbrella, rain jacket or poncho. Similar to the cold, if you would rather not carry extra gear then you can put up with the rain and you will likely dry off fairly quickly if you get wet. The spring rain is usually not as bad as the summer rain and it's a relatively new occurrence thanks to climate change. Quick drying shorts, shirts, jackets and so on are a great choice at any time of year, including potentially rainy springs like what we expect in March 2024.Thank You for Listening to the Disney Travel Style PodcastThank you very much for listening to this episode, we that you enjoyed it. The key to successful execution is having focus, clarity, alignment, and accountability. These four things will help you get your strategies executed. - Patrick Thean Identifying core values, achieving clarity, and fostering accountability is undeniably important within organizations. My conversation with Patrick Thean, an expert in helping CEOs and teams overcome barriers to success, emphasizes their significance. Those things should not merely be words on a wall but rather true behavioral patterns that are believed in and practiced. As shared in Jim Collins' book, "Good to Great," there is a need for a small set of core values to avoid excessive bureaucracy and processes. We talk about the way companies can have practical implementation of core values on a daily basis. Patrick shares the ways he utilizes them within his own company, Rhythm Systems. Core values like "go the second mile" and "keep smart" are ingrained into their everyday language and actions. Clarity and effective communication are also keys to effective execution. At Walt Disney World there is a high level of focus on creating magical memories. This focus empowers employees to think about their purpose before executing their role. Clarity within an organization not only helps in goal-setting but also in holding people accountable. Patrick also debunks the notion that accountability is merely about punishment. It is actually about ensuring that the organization's objectives are achieved and addressing issues collectively rather than covering them up. We talk about the "gift of red" feedback. That emphasizes the significance of providing early feedback on unacceptable performance or issues to allow for timely resolution. Throughout our conversation, Patrick emphasizes the importance of empathy, repetition, and self-awareness in effectively executing strategies. There are always going to be challenges with maintaining focus, alignment with other teams, and the accountability of both individuals and teams. Planning and organization are among the crucial factors in avoiding unnecessary interruptions and disruptions in workflow. Make sure to listen to this conversation Patrick Thean to learn more about the secrets to achieving business success through effective execution. Walt Disney recently launched their Pride Collection featuring the ‘Mickey Mouse Bodysuit for Baby,' adorned with the colors of the rainbow. “Expressive Mickey Mouse shares the love from this soft cotton bodysuit featuring rainbow color graphics and stitched trims. Baby will lead the parade as your pride and joy!” the item description reads. The Pride Movement wants your children from the cradle, and Walt Disney has just thrown down the gauntlet. On this episode of the NTEB Prophecy News Podcast, Walt Disney World and Disneyland are becoming dystopian battlegrounds in the grooming and recruiting of children as members of the LGBTQIA+ Movement. In California, a transgender man wearing a dress and working at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique greets biological girls to sell them dresses. At Walt Disney World in Florida, ‘Gay Days' have turned the fantasyland into Vanity Fair from The Pilgrim's Progress, and into Sodom and Gomorrah from the Bible. As we have long told you, the Pride Movement started seeking only tolerance, then acceptance, then equality, and now? Dominance. On this episode of the Prophecy News Podcast, we show you the stunning rise of child grooming and recruiting movements taking place not only at Walt Disney, but all across corporate America as well.

Is Disneyland Paris following Walt Disney World's lead with annual passes? Plus, Disney Cruise Line sets up port in Singapore and Disney World tells you why you should visit this summer. Disneyland Paris is Pausing Annual Pass Sales In a familiar trend at other resorts, Disneyland Paris is now the latest to apparently pause the sale of annual passes. Stories are circulating that an entirely new annual pass sales offering may be coming. At Walt Disney World, Disney continues to defy the odds with no new sales of annual passes. Meanwhile, Annual Pass park entry lanes sit empty; leading us to believe that they are nowhere annual pass sales capacity, but instead are purposely not selling annual passes because guests (like us) continue to pay full rack rate for park admission. Will annual pass sales ever resume at Walt Disney World or is something else coming our way?--Disney Cruise Line to New Cruise Ship to Southeast AsiaDisney Cruise Line and the Singapore Tourism Board have agreed to collaborate to have a brand-new Disney cruise ship exclusively port in Singapore for at least five years, starting in 2025. More details about the maiden voyage, itineraries and onboard experiences will be announced at a later date. The new ship will feature "innovative Disney experiences" along with the Disney Cruise style of entertainment, dining and more.--Disney has Released its Three Reasons to Be Excited for Walt Disney World this Summer (but these may not be the best reasons)1. Special Discounted Resort Pricing: Limited OfferWalt Disney World is offering summer travel deals with savings up to 25% on stays at select Disney Resort hotels. 2. Guests of Disney Deluxe Resort Hotels or Deluxe Villas can also enjoy extended evening hours, in select parks, on select nights. 3. The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast kicks off its fourth season! For our season premiere, I welcomed one of my favorite Disney content creators, Deni Sunderly, to the podcast. Deni loves everything Disney, and in 2013, she moved to Central Florida from Maryland. Walt Disney World is her happy place, and she loves sharing it with others on her YouTube channel. She is also the PR Manager for the Florida nonprofit Give Kids the World Village. Deni Sunderly and her husband of almost 30 years have two grown children. At Walt Disney World, her favorite snack is a Mickey Bar! In the first episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast: Season Four, Deni Sunderly spoke about Walt Disney World's missed opportunity to celebrate its milestone 50th anniversary and Fantasmic's return to Disney's Hollywood Studios. Deni also gave her take on the headline-making news of Bob Iger's return to the Walt Disney Company following controversial leader Bob Chapek's dismissal and our hopes for the Disney at 100 celebrations.

When I was a General Manager at a hotel in Marriott, I came up with a purpose statement for all hotel staff to use as they did their job. "Be so nice to the guest they won't believe it." A listener asked if the purpose statement should change depending on the level of the employee. Your organization should have one purpose statement to apply to every role. Even if someone has a backstage role, they still contribute to how you serve the customer. Even if you never see a customer, understanding the purpose statement can change the way you approach your job. If "being so nice to the gues they won't believe it" is our purpose statement, it may change how you approach your backstage role. Maybe you make a purposeful walk through the lobby to say Hello to customers. Maybe you walk to your car slower to see if you can find a chance to help someone. Maybe you help out front-line workers so they are better prepared to serve. At Walt Disney World, our purpose statement is "make sure every Guest has the most fabulous time of their life." When Cast Members keep this top of mind, the front-line gets focus and support from managers and backstage roles. And the Guest wins. Everyone is focused on making sure every Guest has a fabulous time. No matter what your role or your organization, you can apply a purpose statement to drive you every day. When customers feel good about you, they will do more business with you.
Mornings at Disney are often my favorite time of day, and it's typically the time of day that I'm also enjoying a delicious cup of coffee. At Walt Disney World in particular, there are so many coffee options that even certain restaurants feature their own proprietary blend. Whether it's a large cup to jump start my day at a Disney Resort, an afternoon boost at the Disney Parks, or even an evening indulgence at a Disney restaurant, coffee (and tea) at Walt Disney World is one of my favorite simple indulgences. In this podcast episode, I chat with Matt from Disney Coffee Blog about our favorite coffee experiences at Disney. From a quick cup of Starbucks iced coffee on Main Street USA to an indulgent cappuccino after dining at Topolino's Terrace, we scour the parks, resorts, and even Disney Springs to find our favorite coffee (and tea) experiences. Be sure to follow Disney Coffee Blog online and on Instagram. What are your favorite coffee experiences at Disney? At Walt Disney World, the representation of the USA as a nation is limited to a historic view of colonial America. The Station 71 hosts decided to do some Blue Sky Imagineering to redesign Epcot's American Adventure Pavilion and Magic Kingdom's Liberty Square to give them more interesting theming. Do you like our ideas? How would you change these two American-themed areas?

The DisGeek crew discuss the all-new attraction, Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim California News Smugglers Run of Fastpass + at WDW Star Wars Disney After Dark Rise of the Resistance now open Tips for using the Virtual Queue per Mouse Planet: The easiest way to join the virtual queue is by using the existing Disneyland smartphone application. Download the app before you visit Disneyland, or, if you already have it, make sure to update to the latest version before you visit. It's also a good idea to authorize the app to send you push notifications. Once inside Disneyland, you can request to join a boarding group as soon as the park officially opens for the day. Friday, January 17 is a Magic Morning day at Disneyland. Even though Magic Morning begins at 7:00 a.m., the virtual queue will not open until the published park opening of 8:00 a.m. Joining a boarding group is very similar to selecting a digital Fastpass. Users first select their party from a list of people to whom they are already linked in the Disneyland smartphone app, then click to add their party to the boarding group. The app will give you your assigned boarding group, and let you monitor the status of boarding groups. When it's time for your boarding group to ride the attraction, the app will send an alert to your phone. At Walt Disney World, you currently have up to two hours to make your way to the the attraction. This grace period allows you plenty of time if you're in the middle of a ride, parade, or meal when you get the alert, and we expect the policy will be the same at Disneyland. If you don't use the Disneyland smartphone app, you can also join the virtual queue by going to one of several cast member-assisted stations throughout Disneyland. There, you will scan your admission media and receive a paper pass with your designated boarding group. In-park signage at the Guest Relations kiosks will display the current boarding group, so that you'll know if it's time to head back to the attraction with your paper ticket. Now for the bad news: Simply having an assigned boarding group doesn't guarantee you'll be called to ride. In the event the attraction breaks down (an expected situation for a brand new ride during the opening weeks and months), the higher boarding group numbers may not be called to ride that day (and the uncalled numbers don't roll over to the next day). At Walt Disney World, we implemented a cross-utilization program at our busiest time to make sure we had enough people to serve our guests. One time, I was assigned to work at Pecos Bills. As I was working the front line taking orders, I noticed trays were beginning to come out hot. Which meant they were coming right out of the dishwasher and into the hands of the customers. It wasn't long before trays were coming out dirty, meaning they hadn't even been washed. A few minutes later, we ran out of trays. This is a big problem at an eatery as busy as Pecos Bills. Without trays, there is no way a father could carry the food for his family back to the table. And he yelled at me, questioning what was going on. It was an embarrassing situation. But it led to a meeting to figure out how to make sure this situation never happened again. The situation also reminded me of a valuable lesson: Everybody is important. You know who was the most important person that day at Pecos Bills? The guy who washes the trays. Everybody is important. Support people. Treat them right. Everyone is important (I can't say this enough). Everyone has a role We started this cross-utilization program to make sure shifts are covered. But through it, we learned how hard those front line jobs are. And people with an office job got a reminder that they are doing their job to serve a guest. Now they have a face, or many faces, to go with the idea of serving a customer. Getting people out of the usual area, especially if they work behind a desk, is of the most powerful, quick, things you can do to improve your operation.

http://WDWRadio.com - Your Walt Disney World Information Station, hosted by Lou Mongello Welcome to the latest Disney Snack of the Week! Look for new snacks from Walt Disney World and other Disney parks and the Cruise Line each week! This week, I'm back at Disney's Hollywood Studios, at the end of Sunset Blvd. right near Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Starring Aerosmith The KRNR Rock Station Food Truck, (which looks more like a food trailer), is a great place to stop and get a quick snack... which I'd probably recommend getting after you ride "Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Starring Aerosmith" and not before. (Oh, and can you spot the Hidden Mickey in the sign?) The Smoothies are made with non-fat yogurt and come in Strawberry, Banana, Strawberry/Banana, Orange-Pineapple, and Cappuccino flavors. They are $4.49, plus tax and are one Disney Dining Plan Snack credit. You can also get a hot dog, Minute Maid Frozen Lemonade, Root Beer or Coke Float, Waffle Cone, Ice Cream Cup, sodas, chips, etc. For the adults, there is a Lemonade Frozen Cooler, with a shot of Bacardi Silver Rum, Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey, or Three Olives Cherry Vodka. But for a cool, refreshing while you're waiting in line or after you ride, try the smoothies... and let me know what flavor is your favorite! What's YOUR favorite Disney snack?
