The Bill Kelly Show Podcast: Ahead of the 2015 Canadian elections, the Chinese Community Party (CCP) reportedly considered targeting Justin Trudeau, then the Liberal Party's national leader, to be the recipient of a million-dollar “donation” via the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, named after his father and former prime minister. Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) sources told the Globe & Mail, on condition of anonymity, that a commercial attaché at a Chinese consulate in Canada instructed Zhang Bin, a billionaire political adviser to the CCP, to transfer $1 million to the Trudeau Foundation. According to the conversation captured by CSIS, the Chinese government further added that it would reimburse Zhang for the political donation. GUEST: Steven Chase, Senior Parliamentary Reporter for the Globe and Mail - Canada's largest airport says it will be implementing “hard limits” on the number of flights arriving or departing during March break and peak summer hours in a bid to reduce delays. The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA), which operates Toronto Pearson International Airport, said in an email that it will also cap the number of passengers that can arrive internationally or depart to the United States through each terminal in a given hour. The changes will result in flights being rescheduled to keep the number of flights and passengers under the new caps. GUEST: John Gradek is former Air Canada executive and Coordinator of Integrated Aviation Management program at McGill University - The number of women in the workforce has never been higher, leading the economic recovery from the pandemic. Some are calling this a "she-covery." What factors have allowed women to get back into the workforce after the COVID-19 pandemic? Being let go from 12 different sales positions might have discouraged the average person, but Edward Keith “EK” Navan used this time to help pursue his true passion - creating businesses. EK is a consummate entrepreneur who adopts a beginner's mindset and always asks, “Why?” After opening the Regymen in 2016 with the hope of simply getting people up and moving, EK came to the realization that health starts from the inside out and decided to open up The Covery, a wellness spa focused on getting more quality out of life. EK created The Covery to help people — whether it be athletes, single moms, or retired grandparents — better recover from life's hurdles. His two businesses focus on all things health, and more so the idea that when you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good, you do good. In this episode, you can catch EK talking about what it means to adopt a beginner's mindset, three important lessons he's learned throughout the years, and his thoughts on entrepreneurship. Today we welcome Jeff Kong of Tri-Covery Massage and Flexibility. They started in Novi but have recently expanded to Royal Oak, offering a number of services and therapies.Tri-Covery expanded right at the beginning of COVID, and after the initial shut down, Jeff talks about working through the pandemic. What they do isn't about luxury and massage, they are about recovery. When the mind wants to do something and the body can't, that's when they get to work. Tri-Covery represents three methods of recovery: massage, flexibility, and exercise. Jeff breaks each of these areas down.We specifically dive in to cupping, IASTM, and percussive therapy, among other specific modalities Jeff and his team offer. Like our hosts, Jeff loves food, and he's got some great food analogies to describe the body and how these therapies work. Also, what is a Stick Therapy class? Find out here.We also discuss Jeff's membership plans and a la carte services, and the different options to meet your needs. He's also honest with us - he explains how if a client isn't the right fit for Tri-Covery, he's happy to refer them out. Finally, we ask Jeff our "fishbowl question of the day," and his answer might surprise you!Learn more about Tri-Covery on their website: https://tri-covery.com/Or give them a call at (248) 773-8242. Zack "covers" the new Wellness 2.0 industry with The Covery CEO EK Navan in this episode! We discuss why this industry is one to watch in franchising, how The Covery differs from others breaking into this space, services they plan to add in 2023 and what a buildout/staff would look like at a typical location.
Jeff Kong, the owner, and Principal Therapist built Tri-Covery around his unique blend of experiences as an athlete, trainer, and massage therapist. Since founding Tri-Covery Massage & Flexibility in 2010, Jeff Kong has become well-known for his work in helping the recovery from athletic training and injuries. He is known in the area as an expert in sports massage, pain relief, and detecting the roots of what may be causing the issues - Plain and simple… he's really good at fixing bodies. Along with extensive experience in gait analysis and posture correction. In 2012, Jeff became one of the first in the state of Michigan to be certified in Fascial Stretch Therapy. With a total of 11 treatment rooms in his 2 location business, Jeff and his highly-trained staff deliver the most effective therapies available for improvements of physical dexterity and recovery from injuries. In this episode, we dive into how Jeffrey successfully built his practice and managed to become an NFL therapist and CEO at the same time. Being in the real estate business is not all sunshine and rainbows. Often, massive shifts in the market hit when we least expect it. But with the right mindset, knowledge, and innovation, it's possible to get back in the game stronger than ever. In this episode, Donnie Jarreau of Jarreau Real Estate joined me to talk about his journey of overcoming a market recession and onward to managing over $200 million worth of properties. Donnie and I will discuss how to guard your mindset during tough times and find leads beyond your market. Here are some power takeaways from today's conversation: Understand why real estate is a numbers game Determine the mindset it takes to overcome a market collapse Find out the importance of knowing market trends Discover the secret behind thriving with a large portfolio Episode Highlights: [07:05] Doing Real Estate Amidst a Market Collapse The more calls and leads you have, the more deals you'll get. You need to understand the continuously changing market trends. Delve into the market and know the returns. You must know what to do with your assets in different situations. It's also critical to have the right team and partnerships. [23:02] Guarding Your Mindset Stop worrying. If there's something you're worried about, what can you do about it? Don't let your worries emotionally drain you. Be transparent and truthful. [34:42] Finding Leads Beyond Your Market It comes down to your portfolio. It'll also come naturally when you've been in the industry for years. But the most important thing to look at is the location. Then, you'll need an underwriting team and process set in place. It's a combination of work, numbers, and reputation. [38:18] Managing Deals with a Large Portfolio It involves a lot of emails and phone calls. Asset management involves insurance and tax assessment. It's beneficial to acquire long-tenant properties and hire third-party contractors. [42:18] The Power of Relationships and Passion in Real Estate Building relationships is fun. It's also about being able to come to work and loving what you do. Age is irrelevant; it's never too late or too early to get into the game. Notable quotes from the Episode: [10:00] “Real estate is a numbers game. The more time, more calls, more leads, the more you're going to be dealt with. So where others were working 30-40 hours a week , I was working 50 to 60, 70.” [24:42] “Be transparent and truthful. They'll take you so far” [43:06] “If you are called, money will take care of itself. Find your passion. Find something you can't wait to get to work. And if that's not happening, you need to seriously look around and go do something else.” Resources Mentioned: https://www.amazon.com/Trump-Art-Deal-Donald-J/dp/0399594493 (Trump: The Art of the Deal) by Donald J. We are meeting Edward Navan, Co-Founder, and CVO of The Covery. The Covery is a destination for IMMERSIVE Wellness. Every Business Has A Story Founded in early 2019, The Covery came about as the fitness industry was booming, and co-founders Edward Navan and Troy Archer saw a gap in the industry regarding recovery from different workouts. The Bill Kelly Show Podcast: The province of Ontario and the federal government have signed a $13.2-billion agreement to lower the cost of child care in the province to an average of $10 a day by September 2025. Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made the joint announcement during a press conference in Brampton, Ont., on Monday. GUEST: Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce - Topics Include: State of the CPC Appeal to Canadians Direction of the party if elected What he thinks needs addressing And more GUEST: Jean Charest, Leaderships Candidate for the Federal Conservative Party - The Governments of Ontario and Canada reached a childcare agreement. This is important for businesses and something the Ontario Chamber of Commerce has repeatedly called for. At a time when labour shortages are having a significant impact on businesses, this is a watershed moment for women, families, and the economy. Women's participation in the labour market is a precondition to our economic recovery and future prosperity. While childcare had been a challenge for Ontario families long before the pandemic, the crisis had disproportionate impacts on women who took on most of the unpaid care that became necessary as schools and daycares closed. GUEST: Claudia Dessanti, Senior Manager of Policy, Ontario Chamber of Commerce - Topics Include: Ukraine and Russia's latest Depiction of Lviv by some journalists And more GUEST: Matthew Best, Freelance Journalist for the The Globe & Mail, and Ottawa Citizen in Lviv See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
