Ravit Micheneris the owner of both Elements of Touch Wellness Spa and Estes River Retreat. Their space combines two businesses, a private house setting on the river near downtown and an upstairs vacation rental in a bustling mountain town in Colorado. This small mountain town has a population of about 7,500 people, and it receives around 4 million visitors in the summer. During the summer, treatments can be done in an outdoor environment with a picturesque river view. Additionally, the owner hires contracted therapists to offer specialized services. Ravit found her true calling in massage therapy when she heard about it from a roommate. Impressed with the level of regulation and organization in Florida, she decided to pursue it and felt a strong connection to the work. She started her own business and eventually worked with a pain management clinic, expanding her knowledge of the potential of massage therapy. She moved to Colorado for premed, but dropped out and bought a building downtown, opening up a small one-room clinic. She quickly switches her health profession to more of an overall wellness approach. After graduation from Massage therapy School in 2013, Kurundi immediately opened up Kurundi's Massage Suite & Spa where she served her community for over three years. As her reputation started to spread, she started to build up her team of holistic practitioners to help her bring awareness to the community. 00:00 Could you even define healthy food today? Not many could easily. Given the unique individuality of the gut biome making a healthy food for one, poison for another. On every “healthy food” diet today there is a way to do it “dirty.” 00:20  Keto, vegan, vegetarianism… done using packaged and processed foods without reading the label full of chemicals you're eating… it's known as following a “dirty” dietary stream. Alternatively, eating “clean” whole foods you prepare and plan based on the nutrient density of them, most often grown recently requiring water and sunshine has the opposite effect on the body. Remember the famous fit-to-fat-to-fit experiment with Drew Manning? He purposefully gained 40 lbs eating “junk” imitation foods and processed products. That was “dirty” keto. He then reversed it and resumed a clean whole food diet. The rule for healthy food that's plant-based, is eat more plant foods and less foods made in a plant.  When you're looking for fast and grocery store aisles that are full of fake foods wearing the label “keto-approved” or “vegan-friendly” it can be hard to remember these are marketing terms. They feel like labels of approval to the unsuspecting consumer trying to make better choices.  Enter my guest for this podcast. Where do we start? Where do we begin making changes ourselves and not perpetuating habits we were taught for future generations?
