In this second part of our two-part special on football hooliganism, co-hosts Jonathan Wilson and Rob Draper trace the roots of football violence from the 1890s through to its transformation into organised ‘firms' in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. They discuss the origins of the word ‘hooligan', early crowd disorder and FA crackdowns, and how post-war prosperity, youth subcultures, away travel and ‘taking ends' helped create a new kind of fan conflict. University of Galway intermediate also completed their own Third Level National championship double on Sunday (8th February 2026) as they hit the ground running before a comfortable victory over Trinity in the Fr. Meaghair Cup Final in DCU. Leah Murphy struck a first-half hat-trick, while Aoife Ní Driscoll found the net twice.  Caoimhe Callaghan put in a player of the match performance with the teams jointly captained by Jennifer Nicholas and Aoife O'Donovan. On their way home, University of Galway manager Louise O'Connor stopped to chat to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Sunday Sport' and they began by talking about the start that saw UG strike five goals.

ATU Galway completed their own 'Double Double' on Saturday (7th February 2026) when they took down Marino College, Dublin to win the Third Level Uí Mhaolagáin Cup with a 4-16 to 2-19 victory. This came just 12 months after they were crowned Ashling Murphy Cup winners, and they won both leagues ni 2024 and 2025.  Captains were Sarah Coleman and Ava Lynskey, with Ava named the player of the match. ATU Galway manager Aoife Lynskey joined Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly on 'Sunday Sport' to chat more.

The San Antonio Spurs snapped a 16 game winning streak by beating the Thunder in the NBA Cup semifinals to face the Knicks in the Final tomorrow night. What does this mean for the Thunder as they are pursuing immortality? Dillon Brooks is at it again, mixing it up with LeBron James and getting ejected for his antics last night in Phoenix.
