Felissa Rose is a cult horror icon who has embraced the welcoming nature of the genre community. In turn, she has given us great performances in a number of indie films over the decades. Now it's our turn to gush! The iconic star of Sleepaway Camp sat down with us to talk about her upcoming films, including a sequel to the long-running Jennifer series. Felissa also talked about her upcoming projects, her turn as a producer, and romance. Synopsis: After a surprise horror themed birthday party, Jennifer gets a scare that leads to an accident. Jennifer is a horror blogger and huge horror movie fan. Her friends, to cheer her up after the accident, decide they could make a movie. They collect their gopro cameras and phones and begin to shoot. Soon, the discoveries of other low budget horror films similar to theirs begin to intersect with their own movie. This sends Jennifer on a journey to understand where these other "Jennifer" films came from. The journey leads to a discovery about the films she could never have imagined, and she realizes her participation has put her life, and the lives of her friends, in real danger. A danger they have to endure, whether by choice or not ... if they want to make a good horror movie. #SleepawayCamp #Horror #FelissaRose

Thank God (or Satan!), it's CASUALTY FRIDAY! CASUALTY FRIDAY is the newest addition to the FANGORIA Podcast Network hosted by horror favorites Tiffany Shepis, Felissa Rose and Kane Hodder.    Tiffany, of course, you know from Troma classics like Tromeo and Juliet. Felissa made her big screen debut as Angela in Sleepaway Camp. And Kane Hodder, well, you know him: Jason Voorhees, Victor Crowley and one of the greatest guys in the horror community.   So, how did we get three horror favorites to do a podcast together?   We locked them in the Fango Vault for 48 hours and put microphones in front of them! And, after we let them out, we found that what was recorded will go down in horror history.    Tiffany, Felissa and Kane shared stories that they have NEVER told anyone before.    Over the next eight episodes (exclusively on the FANGORIA Podcast Network), you’ll find that what they shared about their lives working in the horror genre is at times hilarious, raw, shocking … and some stories may even bring a tear to your eye. Here’s a small taste of what’s to come on CASUALTY FRIDAY!

Reaching FI and preparing for kids at the same time sometimes doesn't go as planned. We also chat about... Family timing and tips Why it can be dangerous to wait too long The different options LGBTQ couples have Why you should divide your paternity leave Working as a stay at home Dad Enjoy these tips and tricks, and please subscribe to us in iTunes if you enjoyed it! Show notes and links from today's episode Playing with FIRE Documentary Journey to Launch Financially Intentional Courtney & Nicole's Instagram House of FI Savvy History Book: The First Forty Days Financial Samurai Key takeaways from our community advice 1 - Even when you plan for children, there will be bumps on the road Planning for children can be a natural thing to do, especially in the FI community. Lynne recommends saving one year in advance if you're going to pay for daycare, and expect the cost of a child to be like a second mortgage. Jamila also recommends to pay off debt, have a home and have an FU fund before having children. Having said this, Felissa advises against waiting too long, since after the age of 30 your maternity is at a higher risk. This can be very expensive if you decide to pay for IVF, and it can harm your relationship with your partner. 2 - Work out your options as an LGBTQ couple There are quite a few options to having children as an LGBTQ couple - but it's important to plan accordingly. This ranges from adoption, to surrogacy, to adopting from a foster home. Courtney and Nicole decided to work with a fertility donor and it took quite a hit on their budget between all the missing days of work, the stress and social cost. Because they were diligent savers before they had their daughter, Nicole was able to quit her nursing job and stay home with their daughter. They've now been able to hit their FIRE number as a family of 3 but expect to add more to it when they expand their family to 4 in the future. 3 - Split your paternity leave Nicholas recommends splitting paternity leave as this helps your partner and also means you can enjoy more time with your child at different ages. It's also good to ask your company whether taking paternity leave might hinder your career - in most cases you'll be glad to know that it won't. The amount of flexibility it gives is extremely helpful. There is still a stigma around fathers taking paternity leave as well as being stay at home Dads, however people like Financial Samurai prove that people are doing it and that you shouldn't be worried of what other co-workers think. Miss Jaye is back at it with her biggest, boldest episode yet! She starts off by talking a little bit about the relaunch of the World of Champagne as well as the upcoming "sister site," LifeStyle By Janessa, which will include all of the great makeup content you expected in the Makeup Forum and dialing it up to 10! Then she sets up the interview by tackling the problem of transphobia in horror, specifically looking at the 3 horror movies most commonly cited as being transphobic: PSYCHO, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and SLEEPAWAY CAMP. Miss Jaye acknowledges that queer theory can sometimes forget about the real human beings that exist beneath the theory, and offers her commentary in the spirit of finding alternative - and potentially liberating - readings of the texts rather than to refute or minimize the voices of trans people who feel hurt by these portrayals. She goes deep into what SLEEPAWAY CAMP is presenting, and after engaging with a piece for Horror Society written by trans author Emma Alice Johnson she offers up a surprising reading of the film that posits a different worldview...and questions who might be the true villain of the piece. After the film analysis, Miss Jaye jumps into her supersized interview with icon and legendary scream queen Felissa Rose! Felissa originated the role of Angela Baker that was later played by Pamela Springsteen in two sequels (that are much more explicitly transphobic in tone) before returning for an unexpected role in RETURN TO SLEEPAWAY CAMP. The two discuss the film in depth: how Felissa got the part, what it was like working with director Robert Hiltzik, and how she feels that Angela came to do the things she did. They also talk about some of Felissa's other iconic roles in indie treasures like VICTOR CROWLEY and Tommy Faircloth's FAMILY POSSESSIONS (and his upcoming feature, A NUN'S CURSE). They also talk about fan culture and Felissa's favorite thing about traveling to conventions. After the interview, Miss Jaye shares the story of how she first met Felissa at Days of the Dead Indianapolis in 2016! This is Miss Jaye biggest - and we think best! - episode to date!

J. Bowen, I’m having a flashback, Dave Brockie, wet or dry… it depends on what you are looking for, Giorgio Tsoukalos, being pregnant, and the next thing you know she’s a rabbit, Adam Green, Costas Mandylor, skills at taping stuff back together and the magic of Hollywood… and selfies. Spoiler Alert: We keep from spoiling Sleepaway Camp as well as all of Shawnee’s films… but we have no problem spoiling all of Creepshow 3. So beware as you listen to that segment. “One night he called at like 11 o’clock, ‘say Shawnee… come downstairs, get in the white limo’. And I came downstairs, and I get in the white limo, and it’s him and Bon Jovi… the whole band. And we went out like, you know, bar-hopping in Canada. The night ended with him on-stage singing the blues. I was pretty epic.” For more info on ScareFest, go to: http://www.thescarefest.com/
