On the new ThROH The Years it's KENTA IN A TENTA as Joe Gagne joins us to discuss Glory By Honor V Night 1, a bizarre show that was forced outside at the last minute. We talk about the circumstances behind it, hear some live thoughts from Joe, and recap every match, with some real standout spots. A short and sweet show. KENTA in a tenta, ThROH The Years in your ears.
Did you know that CM Punk faced Terry Funk one time? Yeah. I know. Wild. That's this show! Lots of 2003 indy wackyness, as per usual with early Ring of Honor. Let's celebrate the last show (allegedly) at the Murphy Rec Center with Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels, a tag gauntlet for the vacant tag titles, and the debuts of TJ Wilson, Teddy Hart, and Dan Maff's flip phone. It was a sad week in the world of pro wrestling and episode 198 of No One's Ready For Wrestling discusses the tragic passing of Jay Briscoe. The details regarding the car accident. Going through the accomplishment that he contributed along with his brother in the pro wrestling world. My early memories on how Jay Briscoe got me into watching ROH at the time and watching him perform at Glory By Honor against Luke & PJ Hawx. What does this mean for the ROH Tag Team Titles? AEW reportedly wanted to do a Jay Briscoe tribute show on Dynamite, but Warner Bros. Discovery told them NO. Eddie Kingston will take on Jay White at Battle In The Valley. Match 7 of The Elite vs Death Triangle nearly didn't happen due to visa issues. Tony Khan reveals that he is interested in being part of WWE's sale process. Miyu Yamashita wants to wrestle more matches in AEW and some of the names I would love to see her face if that happens. Top Flight gets a shock win over The Young Bucks and what I think the idea is going to be involving the AEW Trios Championship. Bryan Danielson & Bandido put on an excellent match on Dynamite. Saraya & Toni Storm officially turn heel and what I think the idea is going to be with this heel turn. KUSHIDA makes his AEW Dynamite debut in a open challenge against Darby Allin for the TNT Championship. Hiroshi Tanahashi extends his contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling. A LOT of news regarding Vince McMahon (Feeling that he might return, the new SEC Filings, Another Lawsuit, and reaching a multi million dollar legal settlement with Rita Chatterton)! Adam Hopkins is gone from WWE after 25+ years with the company. Not only that, D-Von Dudley announces that he's no longer in WWE. Colby Corino is expected to sign with WWE. Update on Kevin Nash after his comments on his podcast left a lot of fans worried. WWE removing independent wrestling content on Peacock. Reason why WWE is making a change to the tag team titles. Is Naomi expected to return to WWE? Cody Rhodes officially announces that he'll be competing in the Royal Rumble and why I don't have a problem with this announcement. Bronson Reed makes his really good RAW in ring debut. More teases on RAW regarding The Hurt Business reuniting. Who is the number 1 contender for Austin Theory's United States Championship? Is there trouble brewing regarding Toxic Attraction on NXT? The SmackDown Tag Team Tournament officially begins to determine who will face The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The Firefly Funhouse makes its return to WWE and what I believe is the different personas of the Bray Wyatt character. Finally, the drama involving Sami Zayn and The Bloodline (Mostly him & Roman Reigns!)! Markin Out With High5Tom: ROH Revelry Episode 1.42. This week Will and Tom go over Episode of ROH TV 56 and then to Glory by Honor 2012. Normally we leave up to listening whether or not we enjoyed it, however Will and Tom both enjoyed ROH TV but loved Glory by Honor. Tom was not feeling well and Will carried the episode, and some technical snfu as Tom was dealing with another issue but I hope this doesn't detract from the high fivers enjoyment. All kidding aside if any of the highfivers get a chance check Glory by Honor. Event of the Year? Hope everyone enjoys the episode because you know we did Music: Ole by the Bouncing Souls
The new ThROH The Years is a big episode covering a big show, Glory By Honor IV. Two big feuds end, another begins, and some guy named Bryan Danielson comes back and wins the world title. Matt finds a fan that's really into Europe, Trevor worries about cougars and we all learn a lot about the American Dragon.
You voted and the election, like all other important ones was not rigged. This time instead of voting for party, we voted for a party. Glory By Honor III was the choice and what a night it was at the Rex Plex (RIP)!A show on the 3 year anniversary of the horrible tragedies of 9/11/01 near New York City, it was a somber yet patriotic filled night for fans in attendance. Samoa Joe defends his ROH World Title against Anarchist Doug Williams on a quest to reclaim ROH gold. The same can be said for future Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness as he and current ROH Pure Champ John Walters threw down an absolute classic. CM Punk, Austin Aries, and of course the other stars of the era were prevalent. Was Mick Foley going to join the Embassy in his ROH Debut? (STINGER: AEW) 14,000 fans - the largest crowd to ever gather for an AEW event - will pack Chicago's United Center tonight. It's AEW Rampage: The First Dance. There's no doubt why all of those fans will be there. They are expecting to see CM Punk return to major professional wrestling for the first time in more than seven and a half years. AEW has confirmed NOTHING regarding Punk. BUT Tony Khan tweeted Thursday that a new era in AEW will begin tonight...and that “excitement from the most anticipated announcement in AEW history at Rampage...will build up through All Out”. There are some matches scheduled for tonight's show. The first match in the four-team Tag Team Eliminator Tournament: Jurassic Express vs. Private Party. Plus, Jade Cargill vs. Kiera Hogan...and Jon Moxley vs. Daniel Garcia. Garcia got a submission win over Matt Sydal on a special episode of Dark: Elevation that premiered Thursday night. Also on Thursday, AEW officially announced the signing of the tag team 2.0 - Matt Lee & Jeff Parker. (STINGER: Impact) The new Impact World Champion Christian Cage defends the title for the first time TONIGHT at Emergence. It's an Impact Plus exclusive show...starting at 7PM Eastern. Christian's challenger will be Brian Myers. Christian will NOT defend the TNA Championship. He retired the title on last night's Impact Wrestling. The next #1 contender for the Impact World Championship will be decided tonight in a 4-Way: Chris Sabin vs. Sami Callihan vs. Moose vs. Ace Austin. On last night's Impact...Sabin & Callihan beat Moose & Austin. Austin took the pin. Also on tonight's Emergence show...Josh Alexander defends the X-Division Title against Jake Something. The Good Brothers put their Impact Tag Titles on the line in a 3-Way against Violent By Design...and Rich Swann & Willie Mack. VBD's Joe Doering beat Doc Gallows in last night's Impact main event. At one point, Gallows drove Doering and himself through the floor of the entrance stage. But that was not the end. Doering rallied and pinned Gallows. Madison Rayne makes her in-ring return tonight against Taylor Wilde. Rayne announced her retirement back in January. Also tonight, Matt Cardona vs. Rohit Raju… Petey Williams vs. Steve Maclin… Knockouts Champ Deonna Purrazzo & Matthew Rehwoldt (ray-walt) vs. Melina & Trey Miguel… And Tasha Steelz, Savannah Evans, Fallah Bahh and No Way vs. Decay. (STINGER: ROH) Ring Of Honor is at Philadelphia's 2300 Arena tonight for the first of two Glory By Honor shows on back-to-back nights. Both shows will steam on Honor Club. Tonight's main event has Bandido defending the ROH World Title against Flip Gordon. Plus, Jonathan Gresham defends the Pure Title against fellow Foundation member Rhett Titus. (STINGER: WWE) As of Thursday night, WWE has yet to announce anything for tonight's SmackDown. It's the final stop before SummerSlam on Saturday night. WWE hosted a tryout in Las Vegas on Thursday. Afterward, Triple H told the invited media on hand that more than a dozen people were signed. WWE President Nick Khan was asked what the chances are that WWE will remain a standalone company in the next year. (Nick Khan WWE Future) That's Nick Khan speaking on “Recode Media with Peter Kafka”. On Thursday's NXT UK… Pretty Deadly had to cheat to do it...but they held onto their NXT UK Tag Titles against Moustache Mountain. Meiko Satomura submitted Stevie Turner to retain the NXT UK Women's Championship… Dani Luna beat Isla Dawn...but Dawn did manage to snatch a piece of Luna's hair so...little victories. Also, Saxon Huxley beat Eddie Dennis. The NWA announced Thursday that Ric Flair will appear on its 73rd Anniversary pay per view on August 29th. AEW's Diamante has been added to the talent lineup for the Empowerrr pay per view on August 28th. (STINGER: New Japan) Some fresh faces on tonight's New Japan Strong. Daniel Garcia makes his New Japan debut...teaming up with Fred Rosser & Fred Yehi against TJP, Clark Connors & Ren Narita. Also, Matt Morris - better known lately as Matthew Rehwoldt - has his first match in New Japan...against Alex Coghlin. Tonight's main event is Brody King & Chris Dickinson vs. The West Coast Wrecking Crew. Brody King told Wrestling Inc. that he tested positive for COVID-19...and that caused him to miss last weekend's New Japan Resurgence event. Minoru Suzuki will be a busy man during his visit to the U.S. this fall. Not only is he working dates for New Japan. He's also now announced for FOUR GCW shows across September and October. (STINGER: WWE) Tonight's SmackDown is going to be unlike any that have come before. Part of the show will broadcast from the Rolling Loud hip-hop festival in Miami - including at least two matches: Bianca Belair defending the SmackDown Women's Championship against Carmella...and Big E vs. Apollo Crews. Part of a video screen at the festival site collapsed on Thursday. No one was injured. Repairs are expected to be complete in time for the festival to open as scheduled. The rest of tonight's SmackDown will emanate from Cleveland's Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. John Cena is set to appear LIVE. WWE is also promoting the SmackDown debut of Toni Storm. We have a new date for the NXT UK Championship match between WALTER and Ilja Dragunov. It'll happen in the United States...at TakeOver 36...on August 22nd. Pretty Deadly still hold the NXT UK Tag Titles. They beat Subculture's Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster on Thursday's show. (STINGER: Impact) Bullet Club's dirty laundry was aired out on last night's Impact Wrestling. Jay White was in the Impact Zone last night. He said he's in Impact to go after David Finlay ahead of their upcoming match at New Japan's Resurgence show. Then, White - the leader of Bullet Club - directly addressed The Elite. He said the Good Brothers bid to rejoin the group was denied...though White said they can appeal his decision if they want. This drew out the Good Brothers and Kenny Omega. After some verbal sparring, the Good Brothers attacked White. That's when Chris Bey ran out to rescue White. Earlier in the show, White offered Bey a spot in Bullet Club. Bey has yet to formally accept the offer. Anyway...It'll be White & Bey vs. the Good Brothers on next week's Impact. Bey opened last night's Impact by pinning Rohit Raju with the Art Of Finesse. As for Omega, he literally bumped into the X-Division Champion Josh Alexander backstage. It appears we could be heading toward a showdown between those two. Havok & Rosemary beat Fire n' Flava to retain the Knockouts Tag Titles in last night's main event. One-half of Fire n' Flava - Kiera Hogan - announced earlier in the day that this latest set of tapings is her last with Impact. She told fans she's going to “see what else is out there for me”. Matt Cardona, Jake Something, & Chelsea Green beat Tenille Dashwood, Sam Beale, & Brian Myers. Green pinned Beale with the Unprettier. Taylor Wilde returned to Impact during this match...and interrupted Kaleb With A K's interference. FinJuice beat Ace Austin & Madman Fulton. Juice Robinson rolled up Fulton for the pin. Eddie Edwards and W. Morrissey brawled in the parking lot outside the Skyway Studios. Morrissey retreated after Edwards found a pair of kendo sticks. Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo accepted an invitation from Mickie James to defend her title at the NWA Empowerrr pay per view next month. (STINGER: AEW) Thunder Rosa is All Elite. AEW announced she's now with the company full-time after breaking early from her contract with the NWA...which was supposed to run through the end of the year. (STINGER: ROH) This weekend's Ring Of Honor TV has PCO vs. Sledge...Flip Gordon vs. World Famous CB...and a 3-Way involving Dalton Castle, Dak Draper and Eli Isom. Jonathan Gresham will defend the Pure Title against his fellow Foundation member Rhett Titus at the Glory By Honor show in Philadelphia on Friday, August 20th. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan's Hiromu Takahashi tweeted Thursday he's been cleared by doctors to return to action. Takahashi has been out with a torn pectoral muscle. New Japan's Summer Struggle tour rolls on Friday. On Thursday's show…Taichi scored a big win over Tetsuya Naito in the main event. The semi-main between SANADA and Zack Sabre Jr. ended in a double pinfall. Friday's Summer Struggle show has Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. KENTA in the main event. Plus,. Tomohiro Ishii vs. EVIL. In Pro-Wrestling NOAH...Masa Kitamiya & Kaito Kiyomiya are the new GHC tag champions...after defeating Katsuhiko Nakajima & Manabu Soya on Thursday. Francesco Akira's reign as All Japan Junior Heavyweight Champion is already over after less than a month. He was dethroned by Sugi on Thursday. The main event saw Jake Lee's first defense of the Triple Crown Championship. He beat Shotaro Ashino. That's JUST Pro Wrestling News for ______. You voted in the GLORY BY HONOR poll on our Twitter account, and this week we bring to you the winner!Coming off KENTA IN A TENTA (available in the archives), we head down to New York City for ROH's debut at the legendary Manhattan Center! It was certainly an historic evening for the company, but man was it ever a headache getting to that point. There were fallen soldiers, a logistical nightmare for set-up, Donald saving the day, and so much more. But once we got going ROH produced a show that many considered their greatest show of all time at that point. It's a killer line-up on paper with three title matches, including a landmark GHC Heavyweight Championship match that we unpack a bit, and of course the KENTA and Danielson title fight.Of course, we've got racism, sexism, and problematic content aplenty cause it is 2006, so we talk about how that looks 14 years later, and we talk what it was like to watch Bryan work through this match knowing the pain he was experiencing from his injury. It's “GLORY BY HONOR V, NIGHT 2” on this week's episode of AN HONORABLE MENTION, brought to you by Patreon.com/AnHonorablePod, and of course, the Creative Control Network brings all the greatness to your favorite podcast providers!-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-ROH Glory By Honor V - Night 209/16/06New York City, New York, USAGrand Ballroom Manhattan CenterDavey Richards defeats Jack Evans (7:35)Singles MatchAdam Pearce defeats Delirious (8:18)Three Way DanceJimmy Jacobs (w/Lacey) defeats Christopher Daniels and Colt Cabana (11:06)Tag Team MatchHomicide & Samoa Joe (w/Julius Smokes) defeat The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe) (18:00)ROH Tag Team Title MatchThe Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) defeat Austin Aries & Roderick Strong (c) (21:34)GHC Heavyweight Title MatchNaomichi Marufuji (w/Mohammed Yone, Takashi Sugiura & Takeshi Morishima) (c) defeats Nigel McGuinness (23:32)ROH World Title MatchBryan Danielson (c) defeats KENTA (w/Davey Richards) (33:01)An Honorable Mention Podcast is hosted by Jeff Schwartz & Shane Hagadorn every Tuesday on the Creative Control Network.OUTLETS:iTUNES: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/an-honorable-mention-with-shane-hagadorn-jeff-schwartz/id1348324250?mt=2TuneIn Radio: https://tunein.com/podcasts/Sports--Recreation-Podcasts/An-Honorable-Mention-p1101966/Stitcher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/an-honorable-mention?refid=stprSpreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/show/an-honorable-mention-with-shane-hagadornCastbox: https://www.castbox.fm/channel/id2083202Podbean: https://www.podbean.com/podcast-detail/6xh9y-77731/An-Honorable-Mention-with-Shane-Hagadorn--Jeff-Schwartz-PodcastSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3bT7qZVq6PN2JWJu21v0jMiHeartRadio: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/966-an-honorable-mention-w-sha-45911710/ListenNotes: https://www.listennotes.com/podcasts/an-honorable-mention-with-shane-hagadorn-0nVes3d7roi/Podcast Addict: http://podplayer.net/?podld=2360081Podchaser: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/an-honorable-mention-w-shane-h-625260Jiosaavn: https://www.jiosaavn.com/shows/an-honorable-mention-w-shane-hagadorn--jeff-schwartz/1/1iXfonQNStc_SUPPORT THE SHOW:Patreon.com/AnHonorablePodADVERTISE WITH US:advertisecast.com/anhonorablementionwithshanehagadornjeffanhonorablemention@gmail.comFOLLOW US FOR THE LATEST NEWS & NOTES!Twitter & Instagram- @anhonorablepodTwitter & Instagram - @thejeffschwartzTwitter & Instagram - @hagadornshaneAudio by Zach Johnson - @RadioZTanhonorablemention.wixsite.com/mainTwitch.tv/AnHonorablePodFacebook.com/AnHonorablePodYoutube.com/AnHonorableMentionPodcast
Lots of time spent at The Arena lately for the podcast, this time it is the first time since in 2006's ARENA WARFARE (available in the archives). ROH is bringing a cage, Hagadorn is breaking an arm, and there are belts aplenty being defended! We've got championships from NOAH, the NWA, FIP, and ROH all up for grabs in Philly. It was certainly a weird time in honorville as the booking of tenure of Gabe Sapolsky nears its end just over a month after this event. So we talk about Hagadorn finding that out for certain at this event, reciting THE Shane Douglas promo badly, the disappointing main event, and more as Jeff and Shane talk “GLORY BY HONOR VII” on this week's episode of AN HONORABLE MENTION, brought to you by Patreon.com/AnHonorablePod, and of course, the Creative Control Network brings all the greatness to your favorite podcast providers!-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-GLORY BY HONOR VII09/20/08PHILADELPHIA, PASingles MatchJerry Lynn vs. Kenny KingNWA World Heavyweight Title MatchBrent Albright (c) vs. Adam Pearce (w/ Larry Sweeney & Shane Hagadorn)FIP World Heavyweight Title MatchGo Shiozaki (w/ Larry Sweeney & Shane Hagadorn) (c) vs. Kevin SteenGHC Junior Heavyweight Title MatchBryan Danielson (c) vs. Katsuhiko NakajimaSingles MatchErick Stevens vs. Rhett TitusSix Man Tag Team MatchRoderick Strong & The Vulture Squad (Jigsaw & Ruckus) (w/Julius Smokes) vs. Sweet 'n' Sour Inc. ThROH The Years is back during troubled times. We address what's been going on in the world and then review Glory By Honor 3, a show featuring the debut of Mick Foley, the return of Steve Corino, dream matches that underachieve, other matches than overachieve, and a hippy concert playing in the background! We also take a break in the middle of the show to talk about how crazy the 2004 IWA-MS TPI tournament was. Stay strong.

Also in AEW, Darby Allin continues to win new fans with a great match against Chris Jericho. In NXT, Keith Lee and Dijakovic have their rubber match without getting a winner. At King of Pro Wrestling in NJPW, Suzuki and Liger finally have their long awaited showdown, but the result had co-host Kelsi asking “That’s it?” ROH had its Glory By Honor show in New Orleans where a local tag team delivered an impressive performance and we know the new number one contender for the ROH World Championship. And speaking of ROH, their former tag teams champs are now champions in WWE. Plus, in SuperKicking It Old School, in honor of Halloween, we look back at the WCW pay per views known as Halloween Havoc.

"XanMan" Shane Sebunia and The Honorable Jeff continue to steer you through the busy world of professional wrestling. This week, they will take you through what happened last Monday at New Japan's latest major offering--King of Pro Wrestling--which featured the second ever Triple Threat match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. Were Cody or Kota Ibushi able to unseat Kenny Omega? Did Jay White win the Wrestle Kingdom title shot from Hiroshi Tanahashi? What surprises did the card hold? And Friday night Ring of Honor was in Baltimore for Glory by Honor. Silas Young, who has defeated Jay Lethal more often than any other man in ROH history, got his shot at the gold; could he follow through? Join us as we talk about this and more!
Another huge event in the books, another huge episode of the show on tap. The Champions Tour-style main event was actually pretty good. What did the WWE do to make it work? And should Shawn Michaels have been so quick to come out of retirement? In Segment 1 we re-capped all of the RAW fallout from Super Show-Down. The Ronda/Nikki split, a bummer of an injury for Kevin Owens, an Elias face turn? and much more. In Segment 2 (41:07), we discuss the Smackdown fallout from Super Show-down. Why didn't Samoa Joe get the belt? Are we still on the way to a Daniel Bryan/Miz main event at WrestleMania? How flipping great was Becky/Charlotte? and so much more. In Segment 3 (1:03:33), Ring of Honor wrestler Beer City Bruiser joined us before Glory By Honor comes to Baltimore's UMBC Events Center Friday night. We talk about whether it ever gets exhausting being the Beer City Bruiser, their showdown with the Briscoes and much more. Then we wrapped the show by previewing the rest of the Glory by Honor card plus we discuss the awkward Austin Aries/John Morrison Twitter back and forth and, um, is anyone gonna talk about WWE taking money from a country that just executed a journalist?
“Burger Without Honor.” This week Emily Fear and Harley R. Pageot discuss Cheeseburger vs. Will Ferrara in a fight without honor, Marty Scurll losing to Hurricane Helms and what it might mean for his future in ROH, the flat return of Coast 2 Coast, the Glory By Honor card, and an update on the whereabouts of the missing Burnard the Business Bear.
On September 15, 2006 Ring of Honor traveled to East Windsor, CT for several reasons: to celebrate Rhett Titus' birthday, to host the newly crowned GHC Heavyweight Champion Naomichi Marufuji, to set the stage for the NYC event the following night, and TO PUT KENTA IN A F******* TENTA!First we were kicked outside by the building, then we scrambled for a tent for "protection" from the impending weather, and then we turned "Glory by Honor V, Night 1" into Ring of Honor's very first (and only) mudbowl! But, as they say in carnivals and sideshows all around the world, the show must go on!!! And, despite all the obstacles that could have made this a certified disaster, the entire crew rallied and dropped quite an impressive event on the fans who braved the weather and stuck it out thru the downpour! Now you can join Jeff and Shane as they look back on the card, talk about what could've been under different circumstances, and Hags sheds some light on the chaos that followed once the final bell rang! Plus we bid adieu to a few people we lost between CT and NYC the following night...-=-=-=-=-=-=- Pelle Primeau & Rhett Titus vs. The Ring Crew Express (Dunn & Marcos)- A SURPRISE APPEARANCE!!!!!- Four Corner Survival: Jack Evans vs. Colt Cabana (w/Lacey) vs. Jimmy Jacobs (w/Lacey) vs. Ricky Reyes- Nigel McGuinness vs. Christopher Daniels- ROH World Tag Team Champion Austin Aries vs. Davey Richards- Top Of Class Trophy Holder Shane Hagadorn vs. Delirious - Samoa Joe vs. ROH World Tag Team Champion Roderick Strong- KENTA & GHC Heavyweight Champion Naomichi Marufuji vs. Jay & Mark Briscoe
