In this episode of Everything is Logistics, Blythe talks with Tete Xiao, VP of Engineering and AI at Bot Auto, about how autonomous trucking is being used in real freight operations.Bot Auto operates fully driverless trucks in Texas, with current lanes between Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Instead of selling software, the company works as a transportation-as-a-service provider, moving trailers for customers using autonomous tractors. They cover:Why Texas and the southern freight corridor make sense for autonomous truckingHow Bot Auto handles drop-and-hook freight with fully driverless trucksWhy night driving is one of the clearest use cases for autonomous freightHow autonomous trucks can operate without driver hours-of-service limitsWhy Bot Auto uses LiDAR, cameras, and other sensors instead of betting on one systemThe difference between replacing drivers and filling lanes that are hard to staffHow the company thinks about safety, lane expansion, and commercial viabilityThis conversation is part of the CargoRex AI Use Cases in Logistics guide, featuring real examples of how logistics companies are using AI across freight, warehousing, procurement, visibility, and operations.Read the full guide here:https://cargorex.io/research/ai-use-cases-in-logistics/LINKS:Bot Auto: https://bot.autoCargoRex AI Use Cases in Logistics Guide:https://cargorex.io/research/ai-use-cases-in-logistics/ -----------------------------------------THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!SPI Logistics has been a Day 1 supporter of this podcast which is why we're proud to promote them in every episode. The Humanoids in Logistics Are Already Here

The pod may have been a little off-schedule over the last month but that's for good reason because I'm trying out a new editorial approach to the show and its taken  more legwork to get to a point where I feel comfortable hitting publish. In May, I scheduled interviews with 8 different companies building AI solutions in logistics. The plan is upload each of those ~30 minute conversations that focus specifically on their product, who it's for and what to expect. Basically an approach of “here's everything I would ask if I was trying to understand and eventually/maybe purchase this software.” We also had some written submissions that I included in a written guide along with companies making moves but I personally didn't interview them for this topic .Because I want CargoRex to be a brand that is successful independent of me being the “voice” of it, I still, and likely will always  want to give my opinion and that home is naturally here. However I think the process needs to be refined where interviews go on one channel and editorial evolves in more narrative/topic based shows that include those interviews where it makes the most sense. I'll still share those interviews here but I think it's important that I drop an episode like this ahead of that to set the tone of how I'm thinking about X topic in logistics. During this new interview process and after learning the real work going into these different AI solutions, I put together a working theory on how the humanoids are already here. How?My theory is most of the public is waiting for the big ~societal crash into AI agents taking over everything~ that's turned into fear mongering. Companies simply over-hired, were run inefficiently, and the free money dried up. Businesses had to grow up, cut costs, and get lean. They blame “AI” but in reality, these companies just had bad processes and failed attempts to adopt AI solutions gave them a chance to blame a boogeyman. When you move past the noise and dig a little deeper you can see logistics is doing what it always does: improving that source to porch journey second by second. These solutions aren't promising the world on a silver platter, but they are committed to creating solutions for specific use cases that requires a human's expertise that is powered by information + insight to be creative with their problem solving. You can listen to the full interviews over on the CargoRex YouTube channel (links below) along with our in-depth Cargorex.io guide with all the companies interviewed, quoted, and featured.I'm really proud to hit publish on this new editorial direction and I hope you'll find value in it. In this episode:How autonomous trucks are filling routes drivers don't want, not replacing driversThe 3-hour report that now takes 15 seconds, and what analysts do with that timeWhy AI is the new boogeyman when bad data and worse processes are the real problemThe trust layer: audit logs, human-in-the-loop phases with defined endpoints, and why demos aren't deploymentsWhat nobody talks about: AI burnout, and what happens when every minute of your day becomes the hard stuffBuild vs. buy: $1.2 million in savings came from solving the right problems, not building everything from scratchToken management as an operational cost, and the Uber cautionary taleWatch this episode on YouTubeFind the full AI Use Cases in Logistics Guide over on the CargoRex website——————————————————Full Interviews available on the new CargoRex YouTube Channel: 1. LLM search is only about 1% of the total search market. Google still controls roughly 88%. So why do so many marketer's content strategy sound like it was written by someone in a panic about AI overviews? This week we're resurfacing a conversation with Grace Sharkey of Orderful to reset what SEO actually looks like for logistics in 2026, with a new intro reacting to Google's recent guidance on what does and does not matter.Included in this conversation is a fresh take on what Google just clarified, including what they're saying about llms.txt files, FAQ pages, and schema. Then we roll into the conversation where Grace asks the questions and Blythe walks through Google Search Console, long-tail keywords, the FAQ-page rebuild, and why your recorded sales calls are the most underused content gold mine in your stack. In this episode:Why Google Search Console beats Ahrefs and SEMrush for figuring out what to fix firstHow to sort your queries for the fastest click-through-rate winsThe long-tail paragraph queries LLMs are actually answeringWhy the FAQ page is the easiest piece of SEO work you can ship this quarterWhat Google just said about llms.txt files (spoiler: you do not need one)How to turn recorded sales and onboarding calls into a content engineWhy YouTube case studies beat gated PDF whitepapers for shippersThe "how did you hear about us" form field every high-intent page should haveWatch this episode on YouTubeLinks and resources:Grace Sharkey on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/grace-sharkey-31940765/Orderful: https://www.orderful.comGoogle Search Console: https://search.google.com/search-consoleAdam Robinson's Air Cover newsletter on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/air-cover-7450924377958912000/ SEO expert Gaetanao DiNardi: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7368964829673390084/More logistics marketing and sales content over on Everything is Logistics -----------------------------------------THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!SPI Logistics has been a Day 1 supporter of this podcast which is why we're proud to promote them in every episode. Most conversations about nearshoring assume you're moving away from Chinese manufacturing. Kerim Kfuri, president and CEO of The Atlas Network, has a harder truth: a lot of "nearshoring" is just Chinese foreign direct investment building factories in Vietnam and Mexico. The geography changes. The supply chain dependencies don't necessarily change with it.In this episode, recorded live on the expo floor at the Logistics World Summit in Mexico City, Kerim breaks down what 20 years of building end-to-end supply chains for small and mid-sized businesses has taught him — and what most operators still get wrong. In this episode:How The Atlas Network manages the full supply chain lifecycle for SMBs, from product idea to inventory management, across a network of 2,000 vetted factoriesWhy "nearshoring" in Vietnam and Mexico often means Chinese-owned factories with Chinese standardization — and why that matters for your tariff and sourcing strategyThe US manufacturing reality: why technology (not policy) is the actual leveler, and why we can't snap our fingers and rebuild a workforce we stopped training decades agoKerim's keynote framework from Logistics World: people, process, and innovation — and why "people" is the most undervalued of the threeWhat Kerim (MIT degree in AI and Strategy) says you actually give up when you hand too much to AI: creativity, human factor, and the interpersonal relationships that drive real businessThe signal-versus-noise framework for entrepreneurs: how to identify the three things that must get done today and stop letting everything else winWhy the most common thing Atlas Network hears from new clients is: "I wish we knew about you sooner"A bonus live interview with the founder of Logistics World Summit, who walked up mid-recording on the expo floorWatch this episode on YoutubeLinks & Resources:The Atlas NetworkKerim's book and speaking websiteBlythe's Logistics World + Mexico City Recap -----------------------------------------THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!SPI Logistics has been a Day 1 supporter of this podcast which is why we're proud to promote them in every episode. Derek brings extensive experience building and scaling partnerships and revenue organizations across the logistics and technology sectors. Prior to GoodShip, Derek held leadership roles at Parade, Metafora, Convoy, Groupon and Expedia, where he built and led high-performing teams across sales, sales operations, business development, account management, and strategic partnerships. About GoodShip GoodShip is the all-in-one platform for freight orchestration and procurement, built for transportation teams, by transportation teams. GoodShip unifies freight data, surfaces real-time insights, and helps teams move from reactive decision-making to coordinated, data-driven execution. With the recent launch of Laney, the industry's first AI Transportation Analyst, teams can ask questions about their network and receive in-depth answers in seconds through an intuitive, conversational interface. Learn more at www.goodship.io. Key Takeaways: The Rise of Freight Orchestration In "The Rise of Freight Orchestration with GoodShip's Derek Netelenbos", Joe Lynch and Derek Netelenbos, VP of Partnerships at GoodShip, discuss how an orchestration layer unifies fragmented data to shift logistics from reactive manual tasks to proactive, AI-driven strategy. The "Orchestration" Solution: GoodShip acts as an orchestration layer that unifies disparate data from TMS, ERP, WMS, and visibility platforms. This allows teams to move from reactive, fragmented decision-making to coordinated, data-driven execution. Automated Scorecarding: One of the biggest pain points discussed was the manual effort required to create carrier scorecards. GoodShip automates this process, providing a "single source of truth" that both shippers and carriers can view simultaneously to ensure transparency and performance alignment. Laney, the AI Analyst: GoodShip introduced Laney, an embedded AI agent that allows users to ask complex, unstructured questions about their freight network. Instead of sifting through pivot tables, users can ask Laney to simulate scenarios—like the cost implications of reallocating volume from an underperforming carrier. Modernizing the RFP Process: Traditionally, RFPs were "root canal" events done once a year due to their complexity. GoodShip streamlines procurement, allowing shippers to run more frequent (e.g., quarterly) mini-bids with high-fidelity data, which reduces risk for carriers and leads to more resilient pricing. Expansion to LSPs and Brokers: While GoodShip started with a focus on shippers, the platform has officially expanded to help Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and brokers. This helps the "sell side" respond to bids more efficiently and manage their own carrier networks with better intelligence. Rapid Deployment via Flat Files: To avoid the long implementation cycles common in logistics tech, GoodShip specializes in ingesting "flat file" data (spreadsheets, scraped emails, etc.). This allows them to go from contract signing to full deployment in just three to four weeks. Data as an Asset: Derek emphasized that every company's historical operating history is a "gold mine" of insights. Orchestration is the process of mining that data to uncover hidden efficiencies that were previously buried in tribal knowledge or disconnected systems. Freight fraud has moved way past the old stereotype of random cargo theft.Barry Conlon, CEO of Overhaul, joins Blythe from Manifest to break down what's actually happening in the market: more sophisticated criminal networks, more pressure on shippers to own the problem, and a growing gap between how fast freight moves and how well it gets verified. He argues that prevention matters more than recovery, because by the time you're chasing freight down, the damage is already done. A few standout points from the conversation:Barry says the last 24 to 36 months have brought a level of volume and sophistication he has never seen before. He ties part of the shift back to post-COVID buyer behavior and the ease of moving stolen goods back into gray markets. He says Overhaul protects about $1.4 trillion in cargo value on its platform and focuses on identifying non-compliance before it becomes a loss. He explains how fraud varies by geography, with North American fraud tactics spreading abroad while markets like Mexico and Brazil often involve more overt hijacking risk. He makes the case that cargo risk is now a boardroom issue because lost product often cannot be replaced fast enough, which turns a theft problem into a market share problem.Links from the show: Overhaul's latest insight on cargo crimeConnect with Barry on LinkedInWatch this episode on YouTubeFeedback? From fake carriers and spoofed identities to food-and-beverage loads that “disappear” into the market, this is the stuff that quietly nukes margins while everyone argues over rates. This episode walks through how fraud actually happens on the ground, what the red flags look like inside your TMS and inbox, and what the best teams are doing to shut it down before a load ever hits the road.In this episode, you'll learn:Why identity is the real battleground in freight fraud—and how a $300 fake MC can wreck your quarter. How shippers, brokers, and carriers are using data from telematics, ELDs, and IoT devices to spot sketchy activity in real time. What cargo crime looks like at the agent level: carrier vetting, distress loads, and “oh no” moments that could've been prevented. Why thieves are shifting hard into food, beverage, and other “easily consumed” loads—and what that means for your contracts and processes.Practical steps to tighten carrier selection, build better response playbooks, and protect both freight and drivers. If you touch freight in any way—shipper, broker, carrier, 3PL, agent—this is your reminder that trust is not a strategy. Building a logistics search engine sounded cute… right up until I was elbows-deep in dev tickets, spam signups, and 2,000+ business listings. In this behind-the-scenes episode of Everything is Logistics, I'm breaking down what we've actually shipped on CargoRex over the last six months, why the site has been such a giant pain in the ass (in a good way), and what Plus and Premium members get for their money. What we cover:What CargoRex actually is: a search engine for logistics associations, tech, creators, services, and events so you stop guessing on what tools and communities deserve your time.  How the new listing manager works so your CargoRex profile can act like a one-page website for your company.  Verification badges, quarterly update reminders, and a rebuilt search engine that finally doesn't suck.  Why we added categories like tariffs tools, CDL schools, and space logistics--and how they're curated from drivers, practitioners, and the freight nerds already in this community.  The not-so-fun part: spam and fraud protection, email/domain verification, and keeping the data clean enough to actually trust.  A breakdown of the Free, Plus, and Premium plans, including page-level analytics, lead-gen forms, promo campaigns across Everything is Logistics, and upcoming panel spots for Premium members.  Why I kept CargoRex bootstrapped, how I'm funding it through the podcast and Digital Dispatch, and how your feedback is shaping the roadmap.Who this episode is for:Freight tech founders and marketing teams who want another distribution channel that isn't just “yet another website rebuild.”  Associations, media, and creators who want their work found by the right logistics audience.  Buyers and operators who are tired of random LinkedIn DMs and just want a clean place to research vendors, events, and content.Feedback? His distinguished career includes significant roles at major international companies such as EY, GE Capital, Penske Logistics, PepsiCo, and various tech firms. Notably, he spent eight years as a VP of Research at Gartner and recently served as Chief Industry Officer at project44. A highly sought-after speaker, Bart currently advises multiple companies and industry organizations in logistics. He chairs ASCM's CHAINge conference in Europe and North America, is the Vice Chair for Transformfest 2025, and is a member of the Forbes Technology Council, SCLA, WEF, and CSCMP's Executive Inner Circle. Born in Belgium, he now resides with his family in Texas, USA. Through Bart De Muynck LLC, he helps organizations navigate the complex technological landscape, tailoring solutions and mitigating challenges to drive operational efficiency and manage risk. His new thought leadership website, Better Supply Chains, curates high-quality content focused on leveraging technology to create more efficient, inclusive, and equitable supply chains, ultimately aiming for both better supply chains and improved individual lives. About Better Supply Chains Better Supply Chains is a new thought leadership website curated by former Gartner analyst and Industry Expert Bart De Muynck, with the primary goal of centralizing high-quality content designed to help companies significantly improve their supply chain operations. The platform is dedicated to enhancing connections by fostering networks that unite shippers, logistics service providers (LSPs), technology providers, and investors. Furthermore, it aims to empower commerce by delivering insightful information that enables businesses to refine and automate their trade processes. Crucially, Better Supply Chains also seeks to improve lives by examining the positive impacts of logistics technology (LogTech) on labor, talent development, and sustainability efforts within the industry. By actively highlighting how emerging technologies can be seamlessly integrated into supply chain organizations, processes, and people, the website strives to make supply chains more efficient, inclusive, and equitable, ultimately contributing to better operational outcomes and improved individual well-being. Key Takeaways: CHAINge, AI, and the Future of Freight In “CHAINge, AI, and the Future of Freight”, Joe Lynch and Bart De Muynck, an industry expert and thought leader with over 30 years of supply chain and logistics experience across the globe, discuss how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies are reshaping the logistics landscape and what the future holds for global freight. AI as an Enabler, Not a Replacer: A central theme is that AI's true power in supply chains lies in augmenting human intelligence rather than replacing it. Bart emphasizes that AI can automate mundane tasks, freeing up human workers for higher-value activities requiring critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity, leading to increased productivity and improved decision-making. Focus on Practical AI Applications: The podcast will likely highlight that the effective implementation and absorption of existing technologies, particularly AI and advanced analytics, are the next big transformation in logistics. Bart's focus through "Better Supply Chains" is on practical, high-quality content that helps companies refine and automate their trade processes using proven technological solutions, not just speculative future tech. The Interconnectedness of Supply Chain Elements: Bart's extensive background and the mission of "Better Supply Chains" underscore the importance of fostering networks that unite shippers, logistics service providers (LSPs), technology providers, and investors. The "CHAINge" conference he chairs also emphasizes collaboration and interconnectivity to build more efficient and sustainable supply chains. Addressing Key Industry Challenges through Technology: The episode will touch upon how logistics technology (LogTech) can positively impact labor, talent development, and sustainability. Bart's work aims to integrate emerging technologies into supply chain organizations, processes, and people to create more efficient, inclusive, and equitable supply chains. Data Quality is Paramount for AI Success: Bart stresses that while data is the "unsung hero" in supply chain resilience and decision-making, the quality of that data is crucial. Bad or irrelevant data can be a "bad actor," highlighting the need for high-quality, real-time, and predictive insights to get ahead of disruptions. Building Resilient and Agile Supply Chains: Given Bart's expertise and the current landscape, the discussion will likely emphasize the need for supply chains to be agile and resilient in the face of geopolitical factors, trade disputes, and market uncertainties. Technology, including AI, plays a vital role in enhancing visibility, optimizing logistics, and improving decision-making in turbulent times. Investing in Talent Development alongside Technology: Bart believes that talent is a significant constraint in supply chains. The podcast will likely highlight the importance of not only embracing technology but also investing in talent development and fostering a culture of collaboration to fully leverage the transformative potential of AI and other innovations. Florian and Esther welcome Slator's Anna Wyndham and Alex Edwards to SlatorPod to explain the rationale behind the new industry framework introduced in the Slator 2025 Language Industry Market Report.Drawing from the flagship report and echoing the buzz of SlatorCon London, the team explains why the traditional labels, Language Service Providers (LSPs) and Translation Management Systems (TMSs), no longer capture the scope and complexity of the evolving market. Instead, Slator has introduced two new terms: Language Solutions Integrators (LSIs) and Language Technology Platforms (LTPs).Anna defines LTPs as pure-play technology providers that develop language tools, applications, orchestration platforms, and AI models. LSIs, she explains, are organizations whose core offering is to deliver fit-for-purpose multilingual content solutions by integrating language technology and AI with human experts as part of a fully managed solution.Esther confirms early advisory adoption of the terms, noting investor interest in clearer tech-service distinctions. Alex adds that automatic dubbing startups tend to fit LTPs better than LSPs, as they often operate self-serve AI platforms.Anna clarifies that big tech players like OpenAI and Google are excluded from the market sizing as they are foundational enablers, not language-focused businesses. The team also discusses why the term “AI” was excluded from the new categories as it may become as ubiquitous as “Cloud”.To close, Anna points out that LSIs currently capture the bigger portion of the total addressable market (TAM). The team sees a strong demand for expert-in-the-loop services and growing LTP–LSI partnerships.

THE MBFS COO and resident SBA expert joins Mark today to try to make sense of the 2025 regulatory chaos. What's going on with the SBA? What changes are afoot? Are they good or bad for credit unions?IN THIS EPISODE:(00:00) Intro(01:48) Jeff Lyons' professional background and what has happened with SBA with the onset of the new administration(05:30) Discussion of lending fees and zero subsidy (08:00) Discussion of PPP Loans and non-bank, non-regulated lenders, delinquencies, and selling off SBA loans for a profit(15:49) Discussion of the stability of the SBA in uncertain times and what MBFS can do for a credit union to facilitate the SBA process(20:44) Jeff shares why SBA is beneficial for your credit unionKEY TAKEAWAYS: The SBA is shifting back to pre-COVID operations, reinstating previously waived borrower lending fees. This change aims to stabilize the SBA's finances, which had gone into negative cash flow due to fee eliminations during the pandemic. The new SBA Administrator, Kelly Loeffler, has brought staff back to in-person work and announced plans to streamline SBA operations. However, concrete changes in process efficiency are still pending, and a significant workforce reduction (about 43%) is underway to adjust for post-PPP staffing levels.Due to higher delinquency rates and lax underwriting standards in the SBA loan portfolio, non-bank fintech lenders are under increased scrutiny. As a result, future non-bank SBA lending licenses are unlikely, reinforcing the SBA's preference for traditional, regulated lenders like credit unions.Lender Service Providers (LSPs) like MBFS offer valuable assistance navigating the SBA loan process, but lenders must remain actively involved. LSPs can provide expertise and guidance to credit unions, helping them understand the requirements and streamline the application. However, the responsibility for the member relationship, underwriting, and overall loan management ultimately rests with the lending institution.RESOURCE LINKS: Mark Ritter - WebsiteMark Ritter - LinkedInJeff Lyons - LinkedInBIOGRAPHY: MBFS provides credit unions with all aspects of business lending services. Solving Mobile Discovery with ModeOne's Matt Rasmussen

The Geek In Review

This week we sit down with Matt Rasmussen, Founder and CEO of ModeOne, to dive into the evolving challenges and solutions around mobile device discovery. What started as a frustration-fueled “passion project” has grown into a powerful, cloud-based legal tech tool that dramatically speeds up mobile data collections while safeguarding user privacy. Rasmussen brings over two decades of litigation tech experience, and his team is focused on automating the traditionally slow, invasive, and expensive process of mobile forensic collection.Matt shares the lightbulb moment that led to ModeOne's founding—after nearly being hit with a book by an executive unwilling to hand over their entire phone during an M&A data collection. That experience crystallized a need for a targeted, remote, and custodian-friendly solution. ModeOne's approach allows for precise data extraction, filtering out personal messages, and narrowing collection to relevant participants or timeframes—thereby reducing friction, legal risk, and cost. The tool shrinks a two-week process into a matter of hours and removes the need for shipping hardware or dispatching personnel. The conversation then turns to the power of cloud scalability and how ModeOne's architecture enables parallel processing of hundreds of phones simultaneously without ballooning costs. Matt recounts a case involving over 400 phones processed in just two weeks—compared to the seven-month timeline it would've required using traditional methods. He explains how operating directly on devices with lightweight agents and leveraging cloud resources allows them to outperform older queue-based systems and ensure defensibility through record-level audits.Beyond litigation, the use cases for ModeOne are growing fast, particularly in corporate compliance and legal holds. With recent updates from the DOJ and FTC increasing expectations for mobile data preservation, companies are now compelled to treat phones with the same seriousness as emails and cloud documents. ModeOne's ability to preserve data in a scalable, minimally invasive way makes it a key player in this regulatory shift. Rasmussen also highlights that while AI may not be the focus of this episode, ModeOne is quietly integrating features like sentiment analysis, emoji flagging, and communication mapping through a partnership with StreamView. As the episode wraps up, Rasmussen discusses the startup journey—from bootstrapping to being named Legal Tech Startup of the Year in 2024. While initial adoption faced the usual “wait-and-see” mentality common in legal tech, ModeOne is now working with several Fortune 10 companies, AMLaw 25 firms, and leading LSPs. Looking forward, Rasmussen predicts mobile data will only grow more central to investigations and legal matters. With privacy and policy changes ahead, ModeOne is doubling down on mobile—not diversifying away from it.
