From Fightful Select of 1-13-2023: "Triple H held a talent meeting at Smackdown on January 13 that helped calm the nerves of some talent.. Since Vince McMahon forced himself back into the company, there have been numerous talent concerned about their creative futures. Triple H said that he's been assured that Vince McMahon's return is to see if the company should sell, and help lead the charge and figure out who they might sell the company to if they do. He made an attempt to squash the story of a sale being a "done deal," and said even if it happened, it would take a lot longer. What calmed many talent's concerns, was Triple H stating that none of what is going on with Vince McMahon will change the creative process he has in place, or the team that helps put it together. Triple H did keep it open and say that anything could change, but right now Vince McMahon defers final creative to Triple H. Triple H also said that while he and Vince McMahon may have discussions, he makes the final call. WWE was adamant in an official sense to us this week that Triple H was still running creative. Triple H also thanked the talent for all they do and said he understood that there was some concern. UPDATE: We've also discovered that Kevin Dunn spoke at the talent meeting. He said that he'd worked for Vince McMahon for 40 years and since coming back Vince hasn't said a peep to him about making changes. We had heard that Vince had made suggestions regarding other departments, but that it wasn't implemented. Dunn largely reiterated Triple H's points. Jonathan Hood talks about the breaking news of MJF no-showing a meet and greet in Las Vegas and possibly missing the AEW PPV, Double or Nothing. MJF no-showed his Saturday AEW Fan Fest autograph and photo session for reasons that are unknown. Several attendees noted his absence on social media which we have independently confirmed as legitimate and not a work. AEW was unable to contact him. PWInsider noted that AEW “did their best to make good to (fans) including offering exchanges for other talents.” Fightful reported that he is physically fine, but that one source said "communication between the two sides had reached an all-time low. AEW talent and personnel were asked to not comment on the situation, and those we've spoken to have not heard back from him." They also reported that a flight for MJF out of Las Vegas has been booked for reasons unknown. However, it's unclear whether he will actually get on the flight. (STINGER: NJPW) Kota Ibushi is sounding like someone who has wrestled his last match in New Japan. Depending on how you translate it, Ibushi replied to a fan on Twitter by writing he's either “now” fired” or expects he will be fired…for publicly airing his grievances with the New Japan office along with text messages he exchanged with Kikuchi, who Ibushi describes as a matchmaker. In one of those texts, Kikuchi threatened to end Ibushi's contract. Ibushi wrote he has only told 1/1000th of the story. And if he said too much he would be “executed in the dark”. He added, “I don't have any friends because they think I'm an idiot.” He later replied to a fan's tweet by saying that if he returns to wrestling, “it will be somewhere else.” He's been out of action since he was injured during the G1 Climax final last summer.
