Santino Ferrucci grew up in Connecticut and went to Europe in hopes of landing a ride in Formula One. When That didn't work out, he came back stateside and joined Dale Coyne Racing's Indy Car operation.  His driving wowed all that watched but was relegated to a part time substitute role for the last 2 seasons.That all is about to change. One just captured the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series National Rookie of the year honors and the other has logged more than 50 years in the sport rising from a wrench turner for legends like Butch Lindley , Bill Elliott and even Richard Petty to now command a racing enterprise that includes, Dirt and asphalt late models, Trucks, a chassis company as well as a two car NASCAR Cup Series operation.  Canadian Steve Bernier has been wheeling dirt modifieds for more than a dozen years but when Autodrome Granby and RPM Speedway joined NASCAR's Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series this season, this veteran earned National Rookie of The year honors. Of all the assorted NASCAR Championships, the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series National Title may have the most expansive geographic reach.It takes a commitment to winning.There are 46 weekly operated short tracks that operate under the NASCAR Banner. Every weekend thousands pack their grandstands to cheer on their neighbors. These drivers are “heroes that fans can not only see but touch and not only touch but know!”There are 5 national championships in the NASCAR Advance Weekly Series standings and in this week's episode Jack visits with 3 of them to give you a glimpse of the passion and commitment that it takes to succeed at the highest level.Austin Paul calls the Adams County Speedway in Iowa home. Austin scored 8 wins, 15 top 5's and never finished out of the top 10  in his modified to take the Division 3 title over Bobby Ozman of Irwindale Speedway.Tim Devos used his 2022 campaign at the Berlin Raceway to not only score the Division 2 National Championship but  he also surpassed 104 career wins at the Michigan Track  tying the great Bob Senneker for 2nd on the rack's all time win list And then there is the Division 1 National Title holder. All summer long Peyton Sellers and Layne Riggs engaged in a torrid battle for Late Model supremacy. Their tussle came down to the final weekend and a pair of 60 lap races at Dominion Speedway. Sellers was chasing Layne Riggs and struck first. Winning the  1st 60 lapper but then Riggs parlayed  a 7th and a 2nd to win his first National Crown. It is a Champion's Celebration that you are part of on Wind Tunnel.

This week, Wind Tunnel visits with a California Teen whose sights are set on climbing up NASCAR's ladder to the top rung; the Cup Series. Jack visits with an IndyCar Series and “500” champion that started out stocking shelves in his father's grocery store in France. And, an Xfinity guy that hails from “Sin City”… Las Vegas. And along the way, he has become a fan favorite.18 year old Dylan Zampa a West Coast Late Model ace burning up the Cali short track scene. Like many of his peers, Dylan's dream is to one day ascend to the very top of the NASCAR and enjoy a career in NASCAR's Cip Series. He and Jack talk about that goal as well as the obstacles that loom along the way that can quickly detour that journey.Simon Pagenaud grew up in France and as a youngster worked in his father's grocery store. To follow his dream Simon moved to America and built his racing resume to the point that he became part of one of IndyCar's top operations; team Penske. After winning a Series Title as well as an Indy 500, Simon was ushered out of Team Penske and now finds himself part of Meyer Shank Racing. MSR  provide the ride for Helio Castroneves last year that made the Brazilian a FOUR time Indy 500 Champion and along with Pagenaud, chase another 500 win as well as an NTT IndyCar title. Jack's visit with Simon centers on the game plan as well as Pagenaud's role at MSR.When Noah Gragson moved East from his Nevada home, he found himself for the first time, miles away from his friends and family. This week's “Wind Tunnel” epsiode goes global as Jack visits with foriegn born drivers who chase their dreams in the U.S.Daniel Suarez was raised in Monterrey Mexico.  As a kid, he dreamed of a NASCAR career and quickly moved up the NASCAR Mexico ladder  eventually moving to the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he snared the Xfinity Championship in his 2nd season.He moved to Cup the following year and last season, he joined TrackHouse Racing.He and Jack  unpack the TrackHouse story and Daniel's aims for 2022.His real name is Rinus van Kalmthout but to IndyCar fans he's simply RInus Veekay part of the Ed Carpenter team. Veekay became an IndyCar winner when the Dutchman captured the GMR G.P. last year on the Indy road course. Rinus shares with Jack where he thinks he has matured as a driver, where he believes his team is much improved and a novel technique he is using to better “connect” with his team strategist.Akinori Ogata moved to the United States from his home country of Japan in  2003 He knew little about American culture and moved to North Carolina with the goal of becoming a NASCAR success. After almost 20 years Ogata scored his first career NASCAR win just a few weeks ago at the Hickory Motor Speedway.

From sitting in the grandstands watching Grandpa tackle that flat ¼ miler to his record setting 11 Advance Auto Parts Track Championships.But Brown's passion stretches beyond his own racing. He is a crucial member of Roush-Fenway-Keselowski Racing as well. I think you will discover after listening to him, that the key to racing success is the same regardless of the discipline.Ryan Blaney grew up watching his dad Dave Blaney steer his way to the very top of NASCAR's pyramid. And now, Ryan is there as well, driving the Team Penske Mustang number 12.This weekend at Martinsville Blaney carries the colors of Advance Auto Parts for the first time this season and in addition to he and I talking about that, we also unpack his thoughts about the new NASCAR NextGen car.One year ago, Dane driver Christian Lundgaard was immersed in a pursuit of a Formula One career. Passion.After winning a pair of Xfinity Titles, Tyler Reddick appears poised for. Breakout season in NASCAR's Cup Series. He and Jack discuss Tyler's racing style and his efforts to hone his race craft and deliver to Richard Childress Racing a Cup Victory.They also talk about Reddick's in-car radio personality that mixes serious conversation with disarming and sometimes humorous comments.Preston Peltier started his racing career in the Southeast and moved to Colorado. One of the very best short track racers in America, Peltier became the first NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series winner when he wheeled his Super Late Model to Victory in Tucson Speedway's  Chilly Willy 150. Jack reviews that win with Preston and learns why Peltier calls his fellow competitors “Frenimies”With IndyCar getting their season underway this past weekend, Jack checks in on Arrow McLaren SP ace, Pato O'Ward who returns to the team pairing up with Felix Rosenquist. It was a busy off season for the Mexican driver. McLaren head Zack Brown made a deal with Pato last year that, should he win, Brown would give Pato a test in McLaren's F1 car. Pato won at Texas and then guaranteed his test prize by scoring another checkered flag at Detroit. Jack gets the update on O'Ward's F1 outing as well as why he believes that consistency in his team's personnel sets him up for more wins and a Championship this season.
