rWotD Episode 2377: Stop (Spice Girls song).Welcome to random Wiki of the Day where we read the summary of a random Wikipedia page every day.The random article for Monday, 6 November 2023 is Stop (Spice Girls song)."Stop" is a song by English girl group the Spice Girls from their second studio album, Spiceworld (1997). The group co-wrote the song with its producers, Paul Wilson and Andy Watkins of the Absolute production duo, during the filming of the film Spice World."Stop" is a dance-pop song with influences of Motown and blue-eyed soul, and features guitar and brass. Its lyrics are about the group's frustrations with being overworked by their management. The music video, directed by James Brown and filmed in Ireland, features the Spice Girls in a 1950s working-class street playing children's games with young girls. The song received mostly positive reviews for its Motown influences and production. The Spice Girls performed "Stop" in a number of live appearances in Europe and North America including their three tours.Released by Virgin as the album's third single in March 1998, it peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart behind "It's Like That" by Run-DMC vs Jason Nevins, ending the Spice Girls' streak of consecutive number-one singles on the chart at six, and becoming the group's only single during their original tenure to not reach number one on said chart. It was moderately successful internationally, peaking inside the top 20 on the majority of the charts that it entered. In the United States, "Stop" peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the group's sixth consecutive top-20 entry on the chart. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:57 UTC on Monday, 6 November 2023.For the full current version of the article, see Stop (Spice Girls song) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm Justin Neural.

A rich compilation of some of the biggest dance hits from 2003 to 2004, this offering is a must for any dance music enthusiast, featuring unedited epic tracks allowing you to relive the era of massive remixes. One standout DJ/producer from this era encapsulated in this Top 2000s Dance Music Classics collection is Dave Audé, a preferred choice for remix production. With an abundance of rock remixes from artists like Jacques Lu Cont, Thin White Duke, Les Rythmes Digitales (a.k.a. Stuart Price), Jason Nevins, and Lindbergh Palace, this set offers a diverse mix of genre hits. Interestingly, all these remix artists have worked with Madonna at some point, with Stuart Price being instrumental in producing "Confessions On a Dance Floor" and leading her "Confessions Tour". This Top 2000s Dance Music Classics volume also showcases other noteworthy DJ/producers like Gabriel & Dresden and Junkie XL, recognized for their progressive remixes that harmoniously blend Trance music with rock-dance. The period also saw the rise of Electro House, with Benny Benassi's remix of Goldfrapp's "Strict Machine" and his debut single "Satisfaction" pioneering the genre into mainstream popularity. While Electro House was gaining prominence during this period, Party Favorz hasn't overlooked the underground hits from genres like Trance, Progressive House, and House music. However, most of the mainstream hits are reserved for our 'Top Dance Songs of the Year' series. We are geared up to release Volume 3 of the Top 2000s Dance Music Classics mid-week, followed by a final volume next weekend. Expect some Disco House and Peak Hour tunes to keep the party vibe alive. So, don't wait! Dive into the memorable sounds of 2003-2004 with Party Favorz's 'Top 2000s Dance Music Classics' Volume 2! Until the next time...ENJOY! Something old, something new - that was the thinking behind this set as we ushered in 2022 at everyone's favourite rooftop kick-ons party: Morning Glory at Home Nightclub in Sydney. The best thing about good House music is that it doesn't age - it sounds as fresh today as it did decades ago. This set combines some new 2021 faves with songs I was listening to as far back as the 80s(!): Opening track "It's Like That" by Run DMC and Jason Nevins is as much of a banger today as it was in 1984. And stick around for my #1 song of 2021, "Gemstone" towards the end. Thanks for having me back Morning Glory fam - you sexy silly party animals you. ;) My Llamettes: Let me know your thoughts below! Peace and hugs - Dolly

As we head into the final stretch of the Ultimate 90's House Classics series from 1998 - 1999 — part 5 delivers those odds and ends party house classics that go outside the progressive house that had become mainstream during this period of musical evolution. Songs like "Music Sounds Better With You" by Stardust, which spawned several mashups including the eponymous "Holiday" mashup by Madonna who has used this version live in concerts, "Get Get Down" by Paul Johnson, "Bodyrock" by Moby, "9PM (Til I Come)" by ATB, which is the basis for this year's massive "Your Love (9PM)" by Topic & A7S, "Red Alert" by Basment Jaxx, "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay, which has been used as the basis for multiple mashups as of late, "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" by Eiffel 65 (I'm in need of a guy), "It's Like That" by Run DMC vs. Jason Nevins, which launched Nevin's space into the hard-hitting rock influenced remixes he was later known for, "King Of My Castle" by Wamdue Project and the bouncy Eurodance hit "2 Times" by Ann Lee amongst so many other memorable moments from this period. How Party Favorz managed to make these diverse offerings work in one seemless set is so mysterious that even I don't know how I did it but it works in spades. One spin and you'll be reliving one of the most magical moments in dance music history with just the one set alone. The final set will wrap up predominantly massive progressive house tracks and you can expect to drop on Saturday. Until then...ENJOY! Seeing as how this time of year is horse racing season leading up to the derby in May I was wondering if you could consider doing a celtic horse special. There are a lot of great celtic songs featuring horses. Some of my favorites were Galway Farmer by The Trinity River Whalers and Darcy's Donkey by Gaelic Storm. Keep up the great job and as always, slancha." Jason Nevins emailed: "Love the Pod, Love the Diversity. Hi Marc, The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast has always reminded me of how, when I was a kid, I used to listen to Celtic music with my mom on weekends. When I left for college and started living on my own, I found the Irish and Celtic Music Podcast, only a few months after you first launched it. Your show helped me stay in touch with my roots as I went through college in Wisconsin, grad school in New Mexico, got married, and had two beautiful children. My daughter is four now and we listen to the podcast every Sunday morning while I make crepes for the whole family. I like to think that she'll grow up and remember weekends with dad and Celtic music the way that I remember weekends with my mom. I was surprised this past weekend to hear that you received negative feedback about the Diversity in Celtic Music episode. However, I was elated to hear your impassioned defense of women, people of color, transgender folks, and all other marginalized groups - many of whom are part of the Celtic music community. As soon as my wife and I heard that, we wanted to show our support for you and your podcast by supporting you on patreon. Thank you for all of your hard work and thank you for speaking out against intolerance, hate, and bigotry."

I did say this was coming very soon…he he he. Truth is, if I sit on this for another week, I'll end up mucking it up with other songs and then regret I didn't leave it the way it is. So, luck you the followers of my site, you get 2 for 1 in the course of two days. There are a ton of great male vocals in this set; none of those whiny R&B posers or those wimpy Broadway-style singers; just good solid voices accompanied by some catchy electro. In fact, my two new favorite songs in the world RIGHT NOW are American new-comers Imagine Dragon. Expect their “It's Time” single off their debut album to be all over pop radio and in the clubs. Also, the UK's Alex Clare delivers an awesome vocal on the unlikely Jason Nevins remix of “Too Close.” Also be sure to check out “Come Back From San Francisco” by Cherry Cherry Boom Boom. Okay, not the best vocal in the world but damn catchy! Actually, CCBB is just a moniker for Martin Kierszenbaum, an Interscope Records exec who likes to dabble in music from time to time. This ode to a former boyfriend is just pure fun. That's all I got for awhile. I've been working a buttload of hours and been pretty sick this past week. I had lost my voice for several days and it's still a little strained, but it appears to be on the mend. Not sure what I'm going to do next nor do I have a time frame. So I guess you'll know when I post it. Until the next go ‘round…ENJOY! Album : Back 2 School pt. 2 Artists : Various Genre : Electro, Progressive, House Length : 1:15:01 1. Swedish House Mafia feat. Recently, I was criticized for using a title to my blog that has long been associated with drug use. What these individuals do not know is the story behind "Party Favorz" which was coined by friends upon my arrival at after-hours parties in South Texas where I grew up. Since I was a kid, I was always the one looked to, to provide the entertainment at parties. My love for all music continued into my adult life with a preference for house music, disco and all other forms of dance music. When I would show up at these after-hours parties, I was always asked if I brought any "party favors" with me. That reference was to cool dance music that would be played in the background at these late-night gatherings. The name stuck and that's what I have been calling my mixes since 1999. To lessen the confusion, I even have a 'description' of this site in the left-hand column that always seems to get lost on the haters or at the very least ignored: Party Favorz is a series of mainstream/circuit club mixes that I started making for friends in 1999. Over the years, the mixes evolved into my own special blend of electro-pop and happy house. In 2007, at the urging of friends, I decided to take everything online and the Party Favorz blog was born. Whether you're gay, straight, black, white, pink or purple, Party Favorz knows no boundaries and everyone IS welcome here. Comments and suggestions are always appreciated; in fact they are encouraged. Regardless of the play on words, Party Favorz does not promote nor endorse the use of drugs. Frankly, house music is the only drug your body needs to have a good time. Live, Work, Play and Dance...just do it responsibly. Now on to the music! Additionally, my followers have also been criticized for being uneducated "party boys" who lived for the circuit and drug use. That could be further from the truth. While I don't personally know everyone that follows this site, many of them are professionals from doctors, nurses, lawyers, graphic designers, trainers, and educators. To make a generalized statement about people who like to go out on weekends, dance, unwind and just have fun is a misnomer. They are everyday people from all walks of life who are able to balance their professional lives with their private lives. Whatever happens after the leopard spots from the disco ball fades, is no one's business but theirs. For all the haters, I suggest you worry about cleaning your own backyard before worrying about your neighbors. -Dedicated to a couple of asswipes from San Francisco As we move through this series, you might notice a large amount of these songs have been re-worked by a production group called "Almighty" a record label out of the UK, which consists of DJ Andy Almighty, who is also a part of the production teams "7th Heaven" and "Club Junkies." He also works closely with some of the dance industry's biggest talents like "Soulshaker" and "Bassmonkeys" and a slew of other big-name producers like "Cahill" "Stonebridge" "Soul Seekerz" "Jason Nevins" "Moto Blanco" and "Wideboys"; many of whose works are prominently featured throughout these four sets. DJ Andy Almighty's bio on his MySpace Page states that he is a "DJ/club promoter, producer/remixer, dance music industry guru and gay scene legend!" I would take it a step further and suggest he is a gay icon, right up there with Madonna. 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of Almighty Records, a feat that's practically unheard of in the dance music industry. They are celebrating this marked occasion with their "Essentials" collection which debuts one new release each month. The gay community is blessed with the great efforts of DJ Andy Almighty and his organization for breathing life into these timeless classics and opening them up to an entirely new generation of club-goers. For that, we are most humbled and entirely in your indebtedness for making our lives that much richer.

Here at Party Favorz, I don't take a break.okay, once in a while, but when it comes to serving up some of the freshest beats on the circuit, there's no time for disco naps, nor egg hunting. This is the final edition of spring and boy oh boy is it a scorcher! Starting off with Yinon's take on Deborah Cox's "Beautiful U R" which is an amazing prog mix that has a beautiful drop about 2/3 of the way in. Deep, dark and haunting, this is truly an amazing song that is supposed to have a second set of mixes coming out soon. In the meantime, Deborah also collaborated with Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Laidback Luke for the star-studded "Leave the World Behind" which will be featured in my upcoming System Edition; so be on the watch for that. You may be scratching your head and wondering what the hell Acorn, I mean Akon is doing on this mix; especially since he's not a particular favorite of mine. Because Tracy Young worked this song every which way but loose! If you can get past the vocals, Tracy's "Monster Mix" is worth the price of admission. I already mentioned Razor 'n' Guido in my last post, so just know their re-work of the classic "Drop a House" is HOT! The Chriss Ortega mix of "My Life Would Suck Without You" had already appeared on my last BPM Edition, but is the only entry for this song that's worth the play. I really expected more from Tommy Sunshine and Friscia and Lamboy, but they basically turned in a mix that Jason Nevins could have worked out had he been asked to mix the song.eh! Then we've got the return of Depeche Mode and the elusive Peter Rauhofer mix currently only available as a promo. Why they left it off the commercial release is beyond me, because Peter's mix is not only the best but smoldering. I am a little concerned that David's vocals are not up to par, leaving one to wonder. We finally get some new mixes for Rihanna's "Breaking Dishes" and Ralphi, true to form, did not disappoint. I liked the 'Soul Seekerz' mix well enough from the original remix album that was released in conjunction with "Good Girl Gone Bad", but this version brings it to life. I just hope those are Chris' dishes she's breaking; in fact go ahead and bust his balls while you're at it. Probably my biggest disappointment here is the Junior Vasquez take on "Please Don't Leave". An absolutely beautiful song in its own right, I do believe he could have done better. This mix isn't bad but would have been better served with the full vocals. Sadly, P!nk's label didn't commission many mixes for this, though the Digital Dog mix (which appeared on my last BPM Edition) is still the best version and retains all the elements that make this song so moving. One of the weirdest treats in this mix comes from Jipsta's "I Want Your Sex". If you were thinking 'George Michael"', you thought right. I always thought this song was ripe for a remake, but never in a million years did I think a hip-hop/rapper would re-do it. All I can say is HELL YEAH! This song rocks and is accompanied by a ton of excellent mixes. I don't usually use Mike Rizzo except in the BPM mixes, but his slamming take warranted inclusion. The Perry Twins in collaboration with Niki Haris turn in a really fun song and is considerably beefed-up mix by the Escape & Capello team, who are currently riding high with one club hit after another. Another welcome surprise comes from Cevin Fisher. After last year's remake of his classic "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", Cevin dove right back in his bag of goodies and brought out another classic "The Freaks Come Out". As with the last release, the mixes for this song are all stellar. I went with the Prok & Fitch remix because they are one of the underground darlings in the house scene at the moment and deliver a very memorable grind for this song. This is going to be HUGE! Capping off the mix, Nick Harvey delivers a tribal lover's dream with "Beat on the Drum" and the amazing Allan Natal take on Luis Erre's "...
Okay folks, we're going to be moving into high gear for the month of April. I admit I've been behind, okay derelict in my duties of staying on top of the music. Though it took several days to complete, I finally got everything organized earlier this week. Over a 1,000+ songs later, I separated anything I thought I would use four folders including BPM, T-Dance, Spring Edition and System. There's more than enough new stuff to satisfy almost any taste. Starting with the third installment of the BPM edition, I will roll out a new mix in each category throughout the month. Next week, I'll have the long overdue Spring Edition, just in time for Easter. I expect this will not be an easy task as I've got a lot my plate this month, but I'll do my best to get everything released in a timely fashion so as not to get behind again. Initially, I had four demos complete for this series; then I went back and consolidated much of it into two final mixes. Frankly, coming hot off of WMC, I haven't been all that impressed which made the editing process fairly easy. That's not to say that the music contained in these two mixes are bad because they're not. I'm just not hearing anything mind-blowing at the moment. Some of the highlights in this take are a couple of 90s classic re-hash from Pronto (Gonna Make U Sweat) and Crystal Waters (Gypsy Woman). Both have been updated for today's floors quite well. I did take off half a star for "Gypsy Woman" because Tristan removed the La Da Di La Di Da from the song, which is damn near blasphemous. Though completely fresh, another throwback comes from the genius of Bob Sinclar. His collaboration with the Sugarhill Gang (a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you don't stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie the beat) is nothing short of brilliant and complete fun. Maybe it was the "ooah ooah" that got me, I don't know, but I sure love this song. We also have the long overdue remix of Kelly's "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Chriss Ortega, which is just as excellent as the original. Thankfully, no Jason Nevins mixes this time around, which would have been an obvious choice. Another song I had been waiting for since the radio edits came out in February is by American born Japanese artist Utada. Internationally, this girl is well known and has had massive success everywhere but here. It's a shame because she is very talented. In its original form, her new song "Come Back To Me" is a total break down tear-jerker. Seamus Haji works his magic much like he did on Mariah's "Touch My Body" to great effect. Also look out for the Tony Moran mix (think Rihanna's "Unfaithful") of this great song to appear on next week's Spring Edition. For the most part, if you're a fan of the BPM edition, you'll love this mix. There really isn't a bad tune here, just several mediocre. I think you'll thank me for my editing decisions. I mean Britney's "If U Seek Amy" is pure junior high. It's immature, lame and doesn't even fit within the context of the song. So if you were hoping for that, it's not here nor will it be in future releases. The rest of the songs that deservedly got the ax put mediocrity to shame. That's about all I got for today. Looking out my window, I see that our channel 9 meteorologist is once again way off her prediction. After two weeks of rain, we were supposed to have a nice sunny day today. Instead, it's still very much overcast. I am praying for some sunshine tomorrow so Rick and I can get out and enjoy ourselves. I'll be back early Saturday with the second part. Until then.enjoy!
