El 22 de julio de 2011, Noruega sufrió un ataque terrorista devastador que comenzó con la explosión de una camioneta bomba en el centro de Oslo, específicamente en la zona de los edificios gubernamentales, donde murieron ocho personas. Tras el estallido, el atacante, Anders Breivik, se trasladó disfrazado de policía a la isla de Utøya, donde se celebraba un campamento de jóvenes del partido laborista. En la isla, Breivik abrió fuego contra los adolescentes, asesinando a 69 personas en una persecución que duró más de una hora mientras la policía tardaba 47 minutos en llegar al lugar. El espacio "Apuntes Históricos" de El Mirador ha rendido homenaje a Nino Bravo y Cecilia, dos de los artistas más influyentes de la música española cuyas prometedoras carreras fueron truncadas por accidentes de tráfico en la década de los 70. Con apenas tres años de diferencia, España perdió a Luis Manuel Ferri Llopis (Nino Bravo) en 1973 y a Evangelina Sobredo (Cecilia) en 1976, dejando un vacío en la crónica social y cultural del país que aún hoy se recuerda con "honda impresión".Nino Bravo, recordado por su impresionante voz lírica y éxitos como Mi tierra o la póstuma América, falleció a los 28 años tras un siniestro en una carretera de Cuenca mientras se dirigía a Madrid para gestiones profesionales.Por su parte, Cecilia destacó como una cantautora de letras poéticas, feministas y contestatarias que desafió la censura de la época con temas como Mi querida España o Dama, dama. Su vida terminó trágicamente en Zamora a los 27 años, cuando su vehículo colisionó contra un carro de bueyes durante la madrugada, tras ofrecer un concierto en Vigo. Pese a su breve paso por los escenarios, ambos artistas han logrado trascender su propia época.Según destaca la crónica, sus canciones continúan vigentes gracias a constantes remasterizaciones y a un legado musical que sigue vendiendo millones de copias, consolidándolos como figuras inmortales que marcaron un hito en la historia de la música popular española.

La historia de la humanidad revela episodios de profunda crueldad y estupidez a través del trato dado a personas como Julia Pastrana y el conocido como "Negro de Banyoles". Julia Pastrana, una mujer mexicana que padecía hipertricosis, fue explotada en el siglo XIX como una curiosidad circense, llegando a ser descrita erróneamente por médicos de la época como un híbrido entre humano y orangután. Tras su muerte en 1860, su propio esposo ordenó que tanto ella como su hijo recién nacido fueran disecados para continuar lucrándose con la exhibición de sus cuerpos en ferias y museos, una situación que se prolongó hasta que sus restos fueron finalmente sepultados en México en 2012. De manera similar, un hombre bosquimano fue embalsamado en el siglo XIX y expuesto en una vitrina en Bañolas (Gerona) durante 80 años, convirtiéndose en un objeto de morbo local que el municipio se resistió a retirar a pesar de la presión internacional de organismos como la ONU y la UNESCO. Finalmente, en 2012, sus restos fueron trasladados a Botsuana para recibir sepultura, cerrando así dos capítulos de deshumanización que, de forma sorprendente, persistieron hasta bien entrado el siglo XXI.

Alfonso XII regresó de su exilio en París e Inglaterra para restaurar la monarquía borbónica en 1875. Bajo la tutela política de Cánovas del Castillo, el joven rey trajo una etapa de estabilidad institucional basada en el "turnismo" de partidos y una nueva Constitución que permitió al país progresar durante décadas. A diferencia de sus antecesores, Alfonso poseía una preparación intelectual y liberal superior, demostrando gran coraje personal al visitar zonas afectadas por inundaciones, terremotos y epidemias de cólera, actos de servicio que terminaron agravando su propia tuberculosis. Su vida privada fue igualmente intensa: desde su romance trágico con María de las Mercedes, quien murió a los seis meses de casados, hasta sus conocidas relaciones con cantantes de ópera como Elena Sanz, con quien tuvo dos hijos ilegítimos. Falleció en 1885, apenas tres días antes de cumplir los 28 años, dejando tras de sí un país pacificado tras el fin de las guerras carlistas y un sistema político que sobreviviría hasta bien entrado el siglo XX.

Harry Houdini, nacido en Budapest en 1874 en el seno de una familia judía, se convirtió en una de las figuras más icónicas de la historia gracias a su dominio del escapismo y su revolucionario sentido del marketing. A diferencia de otros magos de su época que trabajaban en circos, Houdini aportó elegancia al oficio vistiendo frac y sombrero de copa, mientras perfeccionaba actos asombrosos como liberarse de esposas, cajas fuertes y el peligroso "infierno del agua". Fue un pionero de la autopromoción, utilizando a la prensa local y trucos ingeniosos —como contratar a siete hombres calvos para que deletrearan su nombre en sus cabezas— para llenar los teatros. A pesar de su aparente invulnerabilidad, Houdini falleció en 1926 debido a una peritonitis causada por los puñetazos inesperados de un estudiante en Canadá que le rompieron el apéndice, dejando tras de sí un legado como el gran azote de los falsos espiritistas de su tiempo.

Los apuntes históricos presentados en las fuentes revelan una figura sumamente controvertida: un hombre de carácter "especialito" e iracundo, descrito en diversos estudios como machista, maltratador y misógino. A pesar de su ideología comunista, Picasso vivió rodeado de grandes lujos, llegando a comprarse un castillo en los años 30, y mantuvo una relación gélida con su familia, como se evidencia en el trato hacia su hijo Paulo, a quien empleó como chófer a pesar de su alcoholismo. Su vida personal estuvo marcada por la tragedia de quienes lo rodearon, incluyendo suicidios de parejas y amigos, lo que genera un intenso debate historiográfico sobre la distinción entre su talento artístico innegable y su cuestionable calidad humana.
