Everything you know about Sunset Boulevard is a lie. Well, maybe not ALL of it... But you probably don't know why it exists in the first place. On this episode of Distory, we are checking into the iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror to explore the evolution of the attraction's concept. After discovering how the Tower was named, we visit some rare Imagineering brainstorming notes, meet some boiler ghosts, and uncover how the design of the Tower impacted the entirety of the Sunset Boulevard expansion. Kate takes us through Kevin Rafferty's pitch to Michael Eisner, Kirk talks about design elements that came from historic places, and we pick apart the architecture to figure out the hodgepodge Hollywood Tower Hotel look. As we close down this episode, we run into Richard Nixon, meet some Queen Mary ghosts, and debunk a myth with the help of some Imagineering friends, a story that has been mistaken for truth by the Disney history community for years.Join us LIVE on YouTube most Thursdays at 10:30am Pacific/1:30pm Eastern for more Distory!Kate's Youtube: @disneyciceroneYou can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, and at disneycicerone.com & walruscarp.comView full video versions of each episode at Disney Cicerone's YouTube channel HERE OR on the Spotify version of our podcast.Distory T-shirts and StickersKate's SubstackKate's books on AmazonWalrusCarp T-shirts & MerchMOWD appFull Imagineering Panel Interview

Gold Basin Resources CEO Colin Smith joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share some exciting news about the company's Q2 2023 sampling and prospecting program at the Gold Basin gold project in Arizona. The results have been very promising, as the company has been able to define three kilometre-scale gold anomalies, including significant trends north and southeast of the Cyclopic oxide gold deposit. Smith explained that the company collected 110 rocks during the program, with 28 samples returning assays of ≥1 g/t gold, 11 samples with 5 g/t gold, and 6 samples with 10 g/t gold. Among these, there were remarkable high-grade gold results, including 12.40, 12.55, 15.70, 17.95, 29.00, and 35.50 g/t gold. Additionally, visible gold was discovered and sampled at 7 separate locations, all of which are undrilled and spaced approximately 1 to 2 km apart. The gold trends remain open in both directions, and Gold Basin Resources plans to expand the sampling to the northwest and southeast in the near future. Moreover, the company is eagerly awaiting the first preliminary assays from the 2000-meter follow-up reverse-circulation drill program, which are expected this week. To further bolster their team and expertise, Gold Basin has brought on board Senior Geologist Kevin Rafferty. With over a decade of experience in classical field geology and extensive knowledge of the North American Cordillera, Rafferty will lead property-wide geological and structural mapping, target generation, and regional generative work. His expertise in geological mapping, structural geology, stratigraphy, clastic sedimentation, and regional target generation will be invaluable in advancing Gold Basin's exploration efforts. The Gold Basin gold project continues to show great potential, and with the addition of skilled team members like Kevin Rafferty, the company is well-positioned to further unlock the project's mineral resources and expand its presence in the gold mining sector. #proactiveinvestors #goldbasinresourcescorporation #tsxv #gxx #otcqb #gxxff #mining #gold #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews #ArizonaGold #ExplorationResults #MiningIndustry #GoldProspecting #ResourceCorp #CEOInterview #FieldWork #SoilSampling #LidarSurvey #GoldTrends #RegionalAnomalies #RCDrilling #GeologicalMapping #GeologicalProspecting #GoldDiscoveries #MiningUpdates #ExplorationNews #SouthwestUS #GoldExploration #GeologicalData #MiningInvestment #MineralResources #GoldPotential #MiningExploration #NewGeologist
Welcome to the Arete Coach Podcast with Severin Sorensen, where we delve into the art and science of executive coaching. In this episode, we broach a topic of significant import that's already influencing businesses, executives, employees, and the executive coaches who guide them - the AI revolution. This revolution signifies a potential upheaval of the job market through automation, impacting millions of workers. Rather than dwelling on a dystopian future, we maintain a hopeful outlook, urging listeners to engage proactively and prepare for what lies ahead by equipping companies and executives with the necessary wisdom, insights, and understanding. Our conversation unfolds in two parts. Firstly, we delve into the current happenings and projections regarding the acceleration of automation, its consequences on job markets, and the resultant workforce displacement. We unveil 22 high-demand jobs in the AI era, which will likely offer plentiful opportunities for those adequately trained and flexible enough to rise to the challenge. Now, more than ever, individuals must commit to lifelong learning to stay relevant. The second segment pays tribute to the late Kevin Rafferty, a former Vistage Chair and a strong advocate for conscious capitalism. A true humanitarian, Kevin's sudden demise due to cancer was a significant loss. We honor his contributions and bid farewell to a dear friend by sharing excerpts from our interview, where he discussed his views on conscious capitalism and his love for humanity. In essence, we are intertwining two themes: the rapid transformation of the workplace and the importance of conscious capitalism. We'll discuss the potential job losses, identify where new opportunities may arise, and emphasize the value of being 'good' stewards of capital, prioritizing societal benefits over mere profit. As a conclusion, I will apply Clayton Christensen's "jobs to be done" framework to breakdown the tasks ahead. The Arete Coach Podcast seeks to explore the art and science of executive coaching. January 17th marks the last trip Myke TV and Jenn Diz had to the parks together and they reminisce on that trip and the opening of RIse of the Resistance. We think about things we have taken for granted while in the parks and end the episode with a game of guests reviews on some of our favorite attractions! We at Film Forum were sad to learn of the recent passing of Kevin Rafferty, a masterful documentary filmmaker. His movies were brilliantly researched and edited – collaging materials from a vast array of sources. Politically astute and surprisingly humorous, Kevin’s movies infused wit and intelligence into every subject upon which he focused. All five of his feature films premiered at Film Forum. Most recently, Kevin came to the theater to support the re-release of his 1982 hit film, THE ATOMIC CAFE. The new restoration premiered on August 1, 2018, and was one of the films that launched the re-opening of the theater after a major renovation and expansion. In memory of Kevin Rafferty, Film Forum Presents a special encore episode featuring that evening’s Q&A with Rafferty and his ATOMIC CAFE co-directors Jayne Loader and Pierce Rafferty. The Q&A was moderated by Film Forum’s Premieres Programmer, Mike Maggiore.

Over the past two years or so, there's been plenty of debate amongst Villanova fans as to which recent national championship team was better. This past Monday through a simulation on NBA 2K20, that debate was settled once and for all and for a great cause too. Joining me to talk about it are the organizer and host of this event, Kevin Rafferty and Darryl Reynolds! I've also got my thoughts on Marquette's newest acquisition and the rumors about Mac McClung possibly not returning to Georgetown for his junior year.

Every CEO, when you're behind closed doors, and they're being honest with you, they all have confidence issues, and they're all afraid that they're not doing it right. That they're not smart enough, that they're going to be found out, that they're a pretender, that they don't have all the answers. And yet, that fear has them putting up this facade of strength where it appears they've got it all under control. That gets them to a level of success that they cannot get past. In today's ever more complex world, more things are happening faster. They are dealing with a whole new generation of millennials who are out there driving all these baby boom leaders nuts, because they've got these walls and beliefs about who they are and how people are. And it's more of a game, more of a win-lose in their minds; and they're driven by fear. As conscious leadership coaches, we can help break down those fears and, if nothing else, help them learn techniques to overcome them. Kevin went on to say: Start with your people. All business issues are people issues, first and foremost, and those people issues often relate to the false ego, the unconscious part of ourselves. So if we can break through those issues, and help them get into their own true essence and their own true selves, and tap into their own higher intelligences, they’ll come up with their own solutions. And then, my job is to help them figure their strategy for implementing and hold them accountable. That's my role as a conscious leaders coach. Kevin Rafferty started his Disney career at the bottom washing dishes at the Plaza Inn, but before too long he found himself over at WED assisting the first generation of Imagineers. But Kevin was eager to make his own mark and eventually, as a show writer and developer for Imagineering himself, he would certainly do that. Love the Tower of Terror? That was his idea. Not only that, but Kevin would, over a 40 year career with Disney, go on to write and develop such iconic wonders as Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Test Track, Toy Story Midway Mania, It’s Tough to Be A Bug, Mickey’s Philharmagic, Rockin Roller Coaster and that’s just to name a few. Kevin sits down Nathan to talk about his new autobiography - Magic Journey: My Fantastical Walt Disney Imagineering Career. They also discuss tons of attractions he pitched that never saw the light of day, that time he pulled off a heist to save Disney history with the voice of Mickey Mouse himself Jimmy McDonald, and how he ended up pitching Carsland before he even knew Pixar was making a film about cars. Kevin's new autobiography "Magic Journey" is available all books are sold including Amazon, Disney, and Books-a-Million. Kevin Rafferty talks about his documentary, "Harvard Beats Yale, 29-29" before a screening of the film at the Denver Film Society's Starz Theatre in Denver on April 14, 2009. With audience Q&A after the screening.I was a freshman at Harvard on November 23, 1968, the day of a legendary football game between Harvard and Yale. Rafferty's loving attention to the details of that game and the characters of the players makes this a most satisfying film and a highly original portrait of the Sixties.UPDATE: Harvard buffs may also be interested in this interview I did with my Harvard friend Ben Beach when he and I first saw the movie in Cambridge the weekend of the 40th anniversary of the 29-29 tie. Ben is a former sports editor of The Harvard Crimson and has more details on the mystery surrounding who actually wrote the iconic headline that became the title of the movie.
The third in our triple-shot of shows this week features the talents of Foster's Branch. As one of the most musically diverse power trios and certainly one of the busiest bands in the Indianapolis Scene, they have been quietly assembling a rabid fan base in all corners of the metropolitan area for the last several years. Now, with the successful release of their first album, The Root of it All, they have all of the elements lined up to take their show to the next level. From my own perspective, this was probably the easiest interview I've ever done. Long-time veterans of the industry, Kevin Rafferty, Shawn Rafferty, and Travis Beck are very relaxed and professional as performers, both on-stage and off, and talked at length about a variety of subjects with little or no prompting or corralling from me. Links referenced during the show: Foster's Branch can be found here: / . Their debut CD, The Root of it All, is available from , or you may download the tracks directly from iTunes, , or . Interested parties can also check out their EPK at . Breaking with tradition slightly, this week's promo is not for a music podcast, but for a podcast novel that I recently got hooked on. , by J.C. Hutchins, is an exciting ride of a story that I recommend for anyone who is a fan of action/thriller drama/adventures with an abundance of plot twists, cliffhanger endings, and just a splash of Sci Fi. Think of it as a cross between the TV shows 24 and The Twilight Zone, in audio format. (See my personal blog for a review of the story and recounting of my "virtual run in" with Mr. Hutchins.) And finally, once again we put out the call for lovers and supporters of Internet radio to visit and ask their congressmen to support bill HR2060 before the evil suits of the recording and copyright industry succeed in their devious plot to stamp out all non-corporate-terrestrial-radio broadcasts of music.
