Nations before us received messengers and reminders through hardships. If hardships failed to humble them, Allah sometimes granted them even greater worldly success, making them feel invincible—only to seize them suddenly, leaving them utterly confused and destroyed.BeQuranic is a reader-supported publication. He was granted immense power, wealth, health, and advanced technology (evident from Egyptian architecture and engineering achievements). Instead of gratitude, these blessings made Fir'aun arrogant, ultimately leading him to claim divinity. His argument was that continuous worldly success meant Allah approved of him. However, Allah was giving him more rope to intensify his punishment—a powerful warning against equating worldly success with divine approval.Events in life—whether blessings or hardships—are fundamentally neutral. What truly matters is how we respond. Gratitude transforms blessings into true gifts, while arrogance or ingratitude turns them into punishments.Historically, the Muslims achieved miraculous victories not due to their numbers, but through sincerity, humility, and reliance on Allah. For instance, the Battle of Badr (17th Ramadan) saw angels assisting a vastly outnumbered Muslim army. Likewise, the Battle of Khandaq was won without direct combat—Allah alone defeated the enemy through a fierce sandstorm. Even the conquest of Mecca was peaceful.

The Battle of Khandaq- Mufti Yusuf Moosagie by Radio Islam

Amr ibn Al-Aas (ra), Session 8 The Fox of The Arabs  The Sobriquet, Abu Abdullah & Abu Muhammed (ra). Amr ibn Al Aas (ra) states, I remember the night Umar ibn al-Khattab (ra) was born (Al Isaabah). Amr passed away 20 years (43 AH) after Umar (raa 23AH) at the age of 99 (Al Isaabah). Amr (ra) was  3 years older than The Messenger ﷺ 5 years older than Abu Bakr (ra) 16 years older than Umar (ra) 9 years older than Uthmaan (ra) 33 years older than Alee (ra). Amr (ra) states, I memorised one thousand similtudes from The Messenger ﷺ (Ahmad). The judges were 4 in number, Abu Bakr, Umar, Ibn Masood & Abu Musa Al Ashari (raa) The shrewd were 4 in number, Moawiah, Amr ibn Al Aas, Mugheerah & Ziyaad (raa). Another report adds Alee & Qays (raa) (Ibn Kathir). Amr's (ra) lifetime during the Makkan Phase. 'I was initially stubbornly opposed to Islam. I was present at Badr and escaped, present at Uhud and escaped, finally I was present at Khandaq and escaped' (Baihaqi). Amr (ra) witnessed the worst treatmment The Messenger ﷺ received.

All the Muslim's enemies band together in a final attempt to defeat them.In the year 5 AH, the two banished Jewish tribes ally with the Meccans to mobilizing the masses for the ultimate battle against the Muslims, in what would later be known as the Battle of the Azhab, aka Battle of Khandaq.The Quraysh had been humbled by their constant failure to wipe out the Muslims, and now that Muslims were blocking their trade routs the Quraysh were feeling the pain in their wallets. Abu Sufyan, receptive to the invitation by the Jewish tribes, rallies the Meccans and other Pagan tribes to raise the largest army the Arab peninsula had ever seen so far and they begin marching against Medina.The Muslims in Mecca learn of this, and with Salman Al-Farsi's advice, begin digging a tranch along the city's border.The banished Jews reach out to the one Jewish tribe still remaining in Mecca and convince them to also break their truce with the Muslims (now that a huge army is coming towards the city).
