Send us a textMore than four years after we discussed the first film in the series, we're returning to the depths of Clive Barker's imagination. Some of us more reluctantly than others. But make no mistake, it's time to play.Puzzle boxes, people without skin, chains with fishhooks, Kirsty, people with nails or pins in their heads, blood and goo, Julia. Yes, they're all back for more in Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988)!

Every Friday is FRIDAY NIGHT FIENDS during HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST and today we're discussing the follow up to one of our favorite horror movies. Kirsty, Julia, Pinhead and the Lament Configuration are back and hotter than ever and we're gonna be spending a lot of time down under under the gaze of Leviathan. We're talking “HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER 2” from 1988 directed by Tony Randel and starring Claire Higgins, Ashley Laurence and Doug Bradley. The sultry Julia returns with the help of a sick doctor and she's leading souls into hell for her master, LEVIATHAN. Kirsty's brave ass wants to go and rescue her father and the Cenobites return with grandiose plans of torture. All the gore and eroticism work almost as well as in the original and then the last 30 minutes happen. Why did they go out like that? Still looks demented and cool but does the good outweigh the underwhelming? Hear us tell it. This movie definitely has its fans but boy does word of mouth drop off hard for the franchise after this one. Hellraiser is the final movie we are reviewing in Spooky Season and it is long overdue. The Clive Barker classic still holds up today as an excellent horror movie featuring great practical effects and creepy characters. This film provided viewers who were used to the likes of Jason, Michael, and Freddy with a completely different experience, showing that ultimate pleasure comes with a cost. We'll tear your soul apart....From the depths of hell comes body horror, an exploration of sexual desire, lust and gratification, and the pleasure pain theory, as hedonistic Frank Cotton solves the Lament Configuration and receives a gruesome demise, only to be accidentally resurrected.Hellraiser is unlike any other horror movie of its time, not just for its content, but for the risk New World took on a first-time writer-director, based on his own novella rooted in sadomasochism, with no major stars involved in the production. It was planned for a direct to video release, until executives realised how special and different this movie was... they invested more money, and it birthed not only a new resurrection scene for Frank Cotton, but also a horror icon in Pinhead. And who knew so much lube and condoms were necessary for horror movie making in the 1980s... In this episode I speak with Production Designer Kathrin Eder. Originally from Austria, Kathrin started out as an artist assistant and stumbled into working on a commercial and fell in love with the art department. Hustling her way up in positions in the art department and the set dec department she is now Production Designing film and tv series. Kathrin's work on the reboot of Clive Barker's 1987 horror classic "Hellraiser" in 2022 helped to create a world that was both terrifying and captivating. Her designs for the film's iconic puzzle box, the Lament Configuration, helped to establish a visual language that has become synonymous with the "Hellraiser" franchise. Her use of lighting and texture helped to create a sense of unease throughout the film, and her attention to detail helped to bring the story to life in a visually stunning way. In addition to her work on "Hellraiser", Kathrin has also worked on the Starz show "BMF", designing Detroit in the 80's for the story of brothers who create their own mafia family. www.kathrineder.com Are you a fan of TV and film production? What started in Hell will end on Earth…In this week's episode we are once again opening the Lament Configuration for some more Leather Daddy Shenanigans with Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. How will this movie fare with Leigh as her Hellraiser fandom grows, the films start to go downhill. This is Simon's favourite Hellraiser movie and he defends that choice. We discuss the evolution of Hellraiser and how he goes from a sophisticated, complicated villain to a pun spewing generic slasher. Did this movie really need to take place in New York and is the change in setting a wasted opportunity? We talk about how disappointing and shallow the new Cenobites are, and why they don't work. We get into the changes in mythology and how this film disconnects itself from the contained story of the first two films. All of this and more in this week's hellraising new episode. Talks about a ‘Hellraiser' reboot or remake had been in the works for years with original creator Clive Barker occasionally offering updates about the film. Various writers and directors were pitched for the project for a franchise that had already seen a multitude of lackluster sequels. By 2013, Barker said he was set to direct and write the newest iteration of the series with Doug Bradley returning as Pinhead. The project continued to languish away in development hell until 2019 when Spyglass Media Group got involved with David Bruckner hired to oversee the film after he found success with an underrated horror film called ‘The Night House.' Bruckner ended up reteaming with the same writers behind that film with Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski penning the script for the latest version of ‘Hellraiser' along with a new Pinhead that would be played by a woman named Jamie Clayton. Fascinated by the chance to explore themes like possession and temptation, Bruckner unleashed an updated version of the franchise where a girl battling addiction comes into contact with the Lament Configuration and all hell breaks loose…In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we're going to solve the puzzle box and promise we have such sights to show you as we review the 2022 reboot for ‘Hellraiser'…

For this week's plated episode of the Adam Analyzes Podcast, I watched the David Bruckner directed & Clive Barker produced, Hellraiser '22. A film that has been stuck in development hell for years, this is a new take on the classic Clive Barker tale, that is sort of a reboot, but not at the same time. This film also introduces us to the first female Hell Priest with a brand new Pinhead played by Jamie Clayton. Have a listen to find out my thoughts and if this is a Lament Configuration you should open or if the box should have simply stayed closed! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/adamanalyzes/support
This week part fives. Four films from five franchises than there are Ninja Turtles! The Father of Zombies take on found footage. A group of college kids and their fuckwitted professor get swept up in the zombie apocalypse and one decides to never stop filming. Even when it's beyond the point of absolute necessity for the survival of his companions. They stumble onto several ridiculously helpful, and one not so helpful, groups of obvious sequel set up. The penultimate entry in a true master's genre defining series. George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead. A power mad former F-1 driver, a washed out mechanic, a reporter, a Nazi engineer, and the world's sweetest sapient WV Beetle all cross paths on a race through a lonely stretch. Will the engineer make an evil Bug? Will the mechanic and the reporter ever realize the depth of their feelings? Why does only one person doubt the emotional intelligence of vehicles? Some of that might be answered in The Love Bug. Do not allow Paul Kersey into your life. It will get you killed. For the final time, everyone's favorite squinting mass murderer is back and this time... it's personal! Okay, it's always personal. This time there's a precocious kid and high fashion! Death Wish V: The Face of Death!A corrupt detective finds the Lament Configuration at the scene of a shockingly vicious occult themed murder. Soon he is pulled into a deadly game of cat and mouse. Will he be able to resist temptation and see his path out of the darkness or will he be consumed by his own inner demons? Hellraiser: Inferno. All that and Kevin escaped, Craig tries to sneak out, Tyler is counting the days, and Dave corrupts all. Join us, won't you?Episode 276- Plead the Fifth
