Today, I remind the audience I almost never weigh-in on a mass-shooting until at least a few days have passed. The Legacy/mainstream media makes too many mistakes in their rush to be first and to come to conclusions. I turn immediately to the newly elected Speaker of the House. During his acceptance speech, the Left made it painfully obvious just how far they have strayed from the Democrat Party. Speaker Mike Johnson also said his first order of business was to focus on support for Israel. While the usual Leftist members of the Hamas Squad voted no, I was surprised to find Thomas Massie also voted no. Victor Davis Hanson put a piece entitled, “The Hamas One-Eyed Jack.” He demonstrates just how easy it is for Hamas and like-minded terror groups to fool the West and get them to sympathize with the terrorists. Can we remind you about how the “innocent' Gazans behaved when Hamas brought back the bodies and the hostages? There is very little difference between those who carried out the attacks and those who welcomed them back to Gaza. We now know that the Senate is in possession of emails Robert Malley sent, pledging his fidelity to Iran. The scandal within the State Department doesn't stop there. It's far worse and let's not forget a former Secretary of State who is now our Climate Czar. John Kerry also has a history of disclosing classified information about Israeli operations to Iran. Shouldn't he be investigated? The Biden regime has us not just involved in two wars, now, but our own troops have come under fire from Iranian proxies dozens of times, resulting in serious injuries. What are we doing about it? Are we going to allow our own military personnel to just sit back and take it? Would Biden let this continue to keep our focus on the war zones and off of his own criminality and corruption? Thankfully, we have Senator Chuck Grassley who just dropped a massive bomb in Congress. According to a letter he has sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray and to AG Merrick Garland, Grassley asserts the he's been made aware that at one point in time the FBI maintained over 40 Confidential Human Sources (CHS's) that provided criminal information relating to Joe Biden, James Biden and Hunter Biden. Moreover, we also know that the FBI and it's Foreign Influence Task Force to purge those very sources who were onto Biden corruption. This calls for the House to act immediately to bring an impeachment inquiry into this cover-up ordered by Wray. It's time to unsubscribe from Eventbrite if you use them. I explain how they have treated Riley Gaines and leave it to you to decide if they should get any of your own money. The snake is beginning to eat it's own tail, thanks to the anti-Israel students at Stanford. Now, they are making demands of the College and I don't think the administration is going to want to comply. They created this hate-filled skulls full of mush, now they have to deal with those kids turning on them. At the same time, another billionaire has had it with our Universities. Leon Cooperman is done donating to his alma mater, Columbia University, for allowing the anti-Israel hatred to persist unabated. The NY Supreme Court has ordered all NYC employees who were fired for being unvaccinated to be reinstated to their prior positions with full back pay. There's a win for freedom and liberty! And, similarly, Pierre Poillevre is introducing a bill in Canada to ban federal vaccine mandates and slams PM Trudeau for claiming he never forced vaccines on anyone. That's how you deal with gas-lighters. Take a moment to rate and review the show and then share the episode on social media. $UVXY is just an example of when things go down, you can trade and make money. $SVXY is probably the play in the market where any reaction is an over reaction in the market. Both of these should NOT be held long term. Trade them. $DRV is a short ETF on the housing market and since I've updated on this one it's gone from $44 to $56 in 1 week. $IMPP is up at $1 - it's a Wall Street bets favorite of the $GME or $AMC crowd with energy. Oil is down because of fears of another Chinese lock down. Remember - buy on the pullbacks. $TSLA under $700 again - buy in small increments. They will split 3-1 as shareholders will approve. $RDBX is up at $18 now - crazy squeeze on this one. Bitcoin and all crypto are crashing and major trading platforms are limiting selling because of the instability. There's more downside to go. $COOP - it's a mortgage servicing company. They aren't in refinancing - just servicing. Leon Cooperman is a fan as are a few analysts I follow. It's an interesting play, but I'm not in it. Yields are inverting again. $BRKB is an interesting opportunity trading at the levels it was at all of 2021. Analysts are suggesting S&P will trade down - if it breaks the 3800 that I thought was the trading range on the close, I do think we go towards 3200. $UBER is a buy from a lot of folks. I'm not a big believer though, but under $20 I like it. In these times, short ETF's like $SARK, $SPXU and $SQQQ are good tools. $GOF - I like this - 12% yield and pays monthly. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dailystockpick/support

The Biggest Objection to a Tax-Free Retirement

The Power Of Zero Show

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 1, 2022 11:56

“I don't want to pay the taxes on my Roth Conversion” is the single greatest objection David sees every week. David believes that whoever makes that argument is basically saying that they don't want to pre-emptively pay a tax before the IRS absolutely requires it of them and that they think their tax rate down the road will be lower than it is today. He sees the latter point as the greater concern. For David, if you're in the 22% or 24% tax brackets – meaning that your taxable income is between $83,550 and $340,100 – but are pushing the payment of taxes on your Roth Conversion down the road, you're actually missing out on a good deal. Ten years from now, he argues, when the country's tax rates will have risen dramatically, you're going to end up realizing that you missed out on a deal of historic proportions. David sees not being convinced that tax rates in the future are likely going to be higher than they are today and being reluctant to pay the cost of admission to the tax-free bucket as the greatest roadblock in getting you to the 0% tax bracket in retirement. In case you feel as if you're in the situation described above, David suggests educating yourself on what independent, third-party, experts have to say about the future of tax rates – and he recommends reading chapter 1 of his book Power of Zero and watching the documentary The Power of Zero: The Tax Train Is Coming. David shares that, historically, tax rates have been substantially higher than they are today. Marginal tax rates post WWII were 94%, and marginal tax rates in the ‘70s were 70%. The highest marginal rate today is 37%. These rates have nowhere to go but up. All the experts that were interviewed for The Power of Zero documentary said the same thing: if we don't change course immediately, ten years from now tax rates will have to rise dramatically or we'll go broke as a country. Some of them even said that tax rates will have to double or we'll go broke as a nation. David touches upon quotes from a MarketWatch article of his that featured insights from Ray Dalio, Leon Cooperman, Ed Slott, Larry Kotlikoff, and Larry Swedroe regarding the future of tax rates in the next ten years. David brings up a key question you should ask yourself: wouldn't you rather pay taxes today, on your terms, than postpone the payment of those taxes until the IRS forces you to pay them on their terms?     Mentioned in this episode: David McKnight vs Financial Guru (Part 1): powerofzero.com/blog/Power-of-Zero-vs-White-Coat-Investor-David-McKnight-Response David McKnight vs Financial Guru (Part 2): powerofzero.com/blog/the-white-coat-investor-responds-and-i-rebut-his-response David McKnight vs Financial Guru (Part 3): powerofzero.com/blog/power-of-zero-vs-white-coat-investor-final-response The Power of Zero: The Tax Train Is Coming--TheTaxTrain.com MarketWatch Article: marketwatch.com/story/heres-a-way-to-make-your-retirement-savings-last-longer-2020-12-08 POZ episode 181: Should High Income Earners Do Roth Conversions--podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/should-high-income-earners-do-roth-conversions/id1441026169?i=1000558116209 David's books: Power of Zero, Look Before Your LIRP, The Volatility Shield, Tax-Free Income for Life and The Infinity Code DavidMcKnight.com PowerOfZero.com (free video series) @mcknightandco on Twitter  @davidcmcknight on Instagram David McKnight on YouTube

NO... PLEASE DON'T!!!!! While I don't have good news and I would be careful about buying in to this market, it doesn't mean you don't have long term opportunities. Selling everything is not a strategy because you'll miss the pop back up, but right now we very well may be in the recession that everyone predicted. $AAPL is no longer the largest company in the world - Saudi's oil fund Aramco is. This to me says oil and energy is the key. My suggestion is that if you're trading for more than 1 day in this market, pick a company that's in energy or food. Those are the 2 things I think have opportunities. Crypto is crashing because stable coins are found to be not stable. Crypto also has been shown to be not unrelated to central banks so I think the original thesis of Satoshi is not panning out to be true. Leon Cooperman said it best I think - the drop will be over when we see a company report average earnings and is up and it then opens up the next morning. Disney earnings were average to below average - it was up - but couldn't hold. There's just not enough money in the market to support an up day. $DIS is a $140 stock when things are good. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dailystockpick/support

Leon Cooperman was on CNBC yesterday afternoon. He's my fave CNBC guest for many reasons, but the highlights were: 1) He's 68% invested in the market - he's taken some cash out. 2) He thinks the Fed screwed things up and will kill growth, but they need to. 3) He's still 20% in energy in his portfolio - which is heavy. 4) He's in COOP - Mr. Cooper - he said book value is in the $60's and the stock is in the $40's. I looked at insider transactions and all insiders are selling - not a good view. Stocks I'm looking at: $UNG - Natural Gas - continues to go up along with $BOIL $SHOP - 100% win rate since 2015 this week and this month - down significantly giving up all gains. Support levels around $650 if it continues to drop. $QCOM - down again, but I believe this is a $200 stock by the end of the year. The market is trading chips down based on the future having a glut of chips. $AMD - trade this from $100 to $120 $INTU - start positions under $500 even though the PE is high. This is a software company and they will make purchases in this environment. $BTU - Thanks to Thomas for this one. $24 buy in on the algo - get it around there. $URNM or $CCJ for nuclear $DVN - get it under $60 and trade around that price point $UPS - get it under $200. This now is a value stock. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dailystockpick/support

Jerome Powell has the attention of the markets today. The Fed has been behind the curve to their own admission and today is the day they start to raise rates which the market has been fully aware of. I do expect some movement in volatility around 2pm when he starts to speak. Some of the stocks that I think are good opportunities: $DAC - super strong run up but you are hitting up against 52 week highs. There's some underground chatter on this one though. Good chatter. $ZIM - $17 dividend coming with a date of 3/22 $PANW $CRWD $ZS - These are holdings I'm in or getting in to. Cybersecurity is key going forward. $MRNA - Get it when it goes down to $140 again because we will have more Covid boosters and variants. $ORCL - this stock was an earnings play and I like it going to $90 from here. $TSLA - can we all agree that Elona (check twitter for that name) is awesome? The stock is developing a trading range between $750 - $1k $GOOGL and $MSFT are Leon Cooperman favs. $CI is one he's getting in to - I like $UNH Chinese stocks like $BABA are just traps. Do not own - but you can trade them - just be careful as overnight they can lose 25% (kind of like crypto). --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dailystockpick/support

EU Stimulus Approved, European ETFs Rally & Markets Close Mixed – Daily Financial News Summary For Tuesday, July 21, 2020 Another day of musical chairs in the markets as the three main market indexes shifted again. The Nasdaq sunk 0.8%, while the Dow Jones gained 0.6% and the S&P 500 snuck 0.2% higher. Tech dipped downward from the big Amazon gains yesterday, giving Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Facebook, and Microsoft a 1% loss on the day, while Alphabet saw a 0.5% loss. As the markets closed, United Airlines announced a second-quarter loss of $1.6 billion. While the stock got jumpy during the announcement, at the time of publishing, the share price was up about 2% in after-market trading. Meanwhile, Delta closed the day up 0.8%, American Airlines stayed even with no gains on the day at market close, and Southwest Airlines was up 1.94% on the day. The European Commission approved a 750 billion euro stimulus to help the European Union countries and industries that have been impacted by Coronavirus. Meanwhile, the United States anxiously awaits plans for next steps in Coronavirus relief plans as programs such as the $600 unemployment benefit and other mortgage and rent relief programs reach their expiration dates. https://callputstrike.com/2020/07/21/stock-market-is-overvalued-expect-square-root-recovery-leon-cooperman/ Stock Market Is Overvalued, Expect Square-Root Recovery: Leon Cooperman The U.S stock market and the economy are lacking many of the underlying principles previously used to explain them historically. Those are sentiments echoed by hedge fund billionaire, Leon Cooperman. He is the chairman and CEO of Omega Advisors, a New York-based investment advisory firm managing over $3.3 billion in assets under management. According to the billionaire investor, at current levels, the market is overvalued, having failed to price in, or factor, some of the developments that signal economic growth stagnation. “If you go back to your school days — you have a sharp movement down, you have a bounceback, but… the growth rate in the economy going forward will be less than people think,” Cooperman said and predicted the market will see a square-root shaped recovery, similar to his thoughts following the 2009 market crash. https://callputstrike.com/2020/07/21/stock-market-is-overvalued-expect-square-root-recovery-leon-cooperman/ --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/callputstrike/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/callputstrike/support
