In this episode, Sawyer and Tork sit down with Travis and Torsten, the brains behind Livestock, Water, and Energy (LWE), to dive deep into a revolutionary approach to manure management on modern hog farms. If you've ever wondered about turning manure into profit, reducing hauling costs, recycling water, or making carbon credits actually work for farmers, this is the episode you've been waiting for.Over two years in the making, this conversation sheds light on the cutting-edge technology being implemented to separate manure in real time, transforming waste into dry, pathogen-free fertilizer, creating a new revenue stream with liquid nitrogen, and capturing valuable carbon credits—all without relying on government grants or tax credits. Sawyer and Tork share their own farm's experience as the test site for LWE's first agricultural system, revealing the nitty-gritty of what actually works, the value for everyday farmers, and why so many have failed at this before.Whether you're a livestock producer curious about the future of manure, a skeptic of the carbon credit market, or just interested in how innovation is changing the ag industry from the inside out, this lively and honest episode has you covered. Plus, hear about the challenges, breakthroughs, and the real-life impact on family farms looking to build a more sustainable and profitable future. So pull up a chair, grab a cup of coffee, and let's get into it—because today, everything that happens in the barn is coming out into the open.Use code BARNTALK for 10% OFF your next orderhttps://farmergrade.com/ Learn More About Our New Project

When New York City grapples with a complex migrant situation, it's time for a powerful conversation that cuts through the noise. Join me as I sit down with Fat Cat CEO, a voice not afraid to challenge the status quo, to unravel the intricacies of Mayor Adams' controversial actions amidst a critical post-pandemic recovery. In a city already pulsating with the challenges of housing, employment, and an under-pressure social services system, we're dissecting the ramifications of suing bus companies for what many see as merely fulfilling their transport function. It's a foray into the heart of the migrant crisis, where the interplay between governance, accountability, and humanitarian responsibility takes center stage. This gripping episode peels back the layers of a reactive governance style that's in the hot seat for its latest decision to target bus companies as a means of managing the influx of migrants—both by land and now by air. We scrutinize the intricate dance of politics and practicality, questioning the long-term viability of Mayor Adams' current approach and highlighting the critical need for a proactive strategy that goes beyond courtrooms and confrontations. With Fat Cat CEO's piercing insights, we're shining a light on the need for foresight and action in a city that stands as a beacon for diversity and opportunity. Answers are not enough. Even solutions are not enough. The inconvenience of my time is an irreparable price and does not equate to any dollar amount that you could pay. So what is left for me when I get no reparations for my time, constitution and energy? Even if our codes are similar, we will never be the same. LWe both know why we're here. Just admit your reality right now. Some say I'm a ghost. That's not true. The difference between me and an apparition is that there will be no doubt in your mind that I am real. So very very real.
The anterior abdominal stab wound! Who gets explored? When do you get imaging? Who gets serial abdominal exams? How does this change depending on the location of injury? Join Drs. Cobler-Lichter, Kwon, Meizoso, and Urréchaga in their first episode as the new Miami Trauma team - as they discuss how to navigate the nuances of stab wounds to the torso! Hosts: - Michael Cobler-Lichter, MD, PGY2: University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/Ryder Trauma Center @mdcobler (twitter) - Eva Urrechaga, MD, PGY6/R4: University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/Ryder Trauma Center @urrechisme (twitter) - Eugenia Kwon, MD, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Fellow: University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/Ryder Trauma Center - Jonathan Meizoso, MD, MSPH Assistant Professor of Surgery University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital/Ryder Trauma Center @jpmeizoso (twitter) Learning Objectives: - Identify the differences in management of abdominal/thoracoabdominal stab wounds depending on location of injury - Identify who needs immediate operative intervention and who can undergo further evaluation - Define the management pathways for patients with abdominal stab wounds without an immediate indication for the OR - Define thoracoabdominal stab wound and when to evaluate for thoracic injuries - Discuss the role of diagnostic imaging when evaluating a patient with a stab to the torso Quick Hits: 1. Don't forget about the blunt trauma that may be associated with an assault! 2. Don't miss injuries- always start with the ABCs and do a thorough head to toe exam 3. For stab wounds to the torso- hemodynamic instability, evisceration, peritonitis, impalement, or gross blood should go to the OR. 4. The three general clinical pathways for patients without a clear indication for the OR, include serial abdominal exams, local wound exploration, or diagnostic imaging. 5. Serial abdominal exams require frequent monitoring ideally by the same team member every time to detect changes early. 6. Local wound exploration requires adequate lighting and retraction to visualize the anterior rectus fascia. A negative LWE rules out an intra-abdominal injury, but a positive LWE does not necessarily rule it in. 7. Left thoracoabdominal stab wounds require evaluation of the diaphragm to rule out a traumatic diaphragm injury. 8. If there are no clear indications for the OR, diaphragm evaluation should be performed via laparoscopy after a period of 8 - 12 hours from injury. 9. A negative pericardial ultrasound does not rule out a cardiac injury in patients with a left-sided hemothorax. 10. Patients with flank and back stab wounds should be evaluated with CT scan to rule-out retroperitoneal injuries References 1. Welcome to the First BOOST Podcast of 2020! Today is the first day back in the office after the two week Christmas break. I hope you all had a great festive period and wonder New Years! Our BOOST club took over the Top Circle at Brixton Academy on NYE for the big MK show, thanks to LWE & COGO for involving us. Firstly thank you to everyone that listened to the shows in 2019. I’m truly enjoying the podcast train, it was something i wanted to start back in March 2018 but procrastinated over for over a year and a half. Which was ridiculous, mainly over format. I’ve had a week or so off social media, which was has been really good, I’m feeling pumped and ready for 2020! I wanted to start 2020 with a chat about goals. I’m not really in new years resolutions, I think that I’m the same me - I’m just looking to improve that. I’m looking to improve what i have going on for myself and those around me. What do i need to do increase my happiness, we can do this by looking at what was successful in 2019 and what wasn’t, what do need to push more. What problems do i need to fix and how I’m gonna do that. So i wanted to offer up the 20 in 20 challenge for 2020 and to give you some food for thought I’ve come up with 20 points to help you work out what your 20 might be. Now some of my 20 are very big but some are very tiny and might only take minutes but are essential. Hello Junkies! This week’s FridayFix™ is all about SiglerFest! lWe’re working on plans for this year’s event (October 11 & 12, 2013 in Las Vegas, NV at The Orleans, no matter what I say at the beginning of this video!) but this video is jammed full of cool photos for SiglerFest 2K12, taken by our good friend Bruce Press. Bruce is also putting the finishing touches on a photo book with all the delectable photos from last year AND he’s got a ton of great shots over on his website. Seriously, if you were there last year, check ’em out and snag your favorite. And if you weren’t there last year, be sure to get there this year if you can! There will be bowling and Cards Against Humanity and human experimentation! No, really! Big thanks to Bruce for making such beautiful photos. Click here to download this video.
In this episode, Oz and a fellow friend of ours, Latanya joins me for a discussion on just about everything. The show starts off a bit random. This was an impromptu podcast episode. It was late, we were up and we figured we'd record our Skype conversation. You the listener can decide if this worked or not and contact us to let us know! Really...we'd love to hear from you! A few things: Latanya is a blogger, and a geek. She some times helps co-host a blog called "Black Girl Nerds" I'm telling you this now (if you actually read this) because we don't get into who the heck she is until much later in the show. I guess all you need to know is she's a fellow geek...apperently a fellow geek with a "Newsletter" that neither Oz or myself can be on! Which is fine, well...for one of us anyway. We talk "Man of Steel" and how sexual this movie can be to certian genders and how this feeling can be dealt with. Wolverine and his merry band of X-men are brought up, a quick review from OZ. You shoudn't be shocked. lWe also talk a good deal about movie Remakes and what films had a lasting impression on us as children. Hey! Heads up! We're making a movie! A movie about Podcasting! All the details are inside this episode but if your feeling fancy and want to play on the internet, well here's a link for you! Use it wisely, spread it around to all your geek friends. I recommend posting it on all your social networking sites...help spread the word please! http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/7-days-a-geek-presents-oz-downunder-up-top Contact us: Voicemail: 206-339-1404 Twitter: @s7evendaysageek @Angry_OZ_Geek E-mail s7evendaysageek@gmail.com
