What makes this program revolutionary is its design for multiple pathways; graduates can either enter the workforce immediately as technicians or continue to higher education with college credits already earned.Meanwhile, Arizona State University is building the advanced end of this educational pipeline through CHIPS Act-funded initiatives like the Southwest Advanced Prototyping Hub and the SHIELD project. Graduate courses in semiconductor packaging have exploded in popularity, growing from just 27 students to over 175 in two years. The university is getting creative with outreach too, developing a "Packaging on Wheels" mobile facility to bring semiconductor education to schools nationwide.The strength of Arizona's approach lies in its extensive industry involvement. Fifteen major companies form the steering committee for the high school program, providing real-world problems and case studies. It Happened To Me: A Rare Disease and Medical Challenges Podcast

Ya hemos hablado en muchas ocasiones que el hecho de luchar por una causa no excluye que podamos interesarnos o colaborar con otras. Primero de todo, os damos contexto de qué es lo que ha ocurrido con la DANA durante estos días. Vamos a poner el foco en lo más importante ahora mismo, que es cómo podemos ayudar a los afectados. Una DANA son sigla de «depresión aislada en niveles altos»— es un fenómeno meteorológico en forma de masa de aire que se desprende por completo de una corriente muy fría y que desciende sobre otra de aire caliente produciendo grandes perturbaciones atmosféricas acompañadas de precipitaciones muy intensas. ¿Qué relación tiene con la crisis climática? Hemos estado siguiendo de cerca a Mar Gómez Doctora en Físicas y Responsable meteorología @eltiempoes ¿Están siendo los fenómenos meteorológicos, en general, más peligrosos que antes? ¿se está incrementando el riesgo? Los estudios nos muestran que en general los fenómenos meteorológicos se intensifican: no es que no hubieran sucedido antes, sino que ahora en general son más extremos. en Europa el número de DANAs por año, entre 1960 y 1990, se mantuvo estable, en casi 30 años. Sin embargo, desde 1990, este número ha aumentado significativamente, actualmente alrededor de 35-40 anuales (Muñoz et al. 2020). Todo ello combinado con una atmosfera más cálida, con la capacidad de retener más vapor de agua (o sea mas humedad) hace que las lluvias sean mas intensas. Debemos tener en cuenta en todo esto además que el mar Mediterráneo se ha calentado en los últimos 40 años mas de 1,5ºC. Este mismo verano batíamos récords de la temperatura superficial del mar. Un Mediterráneo más cálido actúa como un "combustible" para las tormentas. A medida que el aire sobre el Mediterráneo absorbe esta humedad adicional y luego se encuentra con masas de aire frío en altura, se generan condiciones perfectas para la formación de lluvias intensas y tormentas torrenciales. De aquellos barros estos lodos, el martes 29 de Noviembre la Agencia de Meteorología española avisaba de un nivel 3, nivel máximo de posibles lluvias torrenciales. Durante todo el dia la AEMET, da varios avisos. El presidente de la comunidad Valenciana dice que las borrascas se iran a partir de las 18:00. A las 20:00 saltan los avisos en los móviles. A esa hora muchísimas personas estaban siendo arrastradas por las riadas. Hay, en este momento que grabamos el episodio más de 200 personas fallecidas y un número indeterminado de desaparecidos. Lo más importante: cómo podemos ayudar. ¿Qué alimentos podemos llevar? - Botes de legumbres o legumbre en lata - Pan tostado o pan de molde - Verduras en bote o enlatadas - Vasitos de arroz cocido - Fruta deshidratada como dátiles u orejones - Fruta enlatada como la piña en rodajas - Fruta en almíbar como melocotones - Nueces y/o crema de cacahuete - Mermelada en monodosis - Café soluble - Bebida de soja - Bricks de zumo Hay varias webs que han recopilado todas las formas actuales de ayudar: https://linktr.ee/HelpValencia Os animamos a buscar los puntos de recogida de alimentos que estén cerca vuestro. Además de ayudar a todas las personas afectadas con estos medios, en nuestro caso vamos a tratar también el caso de muchos animales no humanos, los grandes olvidados siempre, que con el desastre natural se han quedado más desprotegidos que nunca. ¿Cómo podemos ayudar a estos animales? La solución comienza con la acción colectiva. Aquí hay algunas formas en que tú puedes contribuir: Acoge a un animal: Si te encuentras en la zona, considera acoger a un animal temporalmente hasta que se pueda encontrar un hogar permanente. Haz una donación: Tu contribución económica puede ser vital para que las protectoras de animales afectadas puedan seguir funcionando. Difunde el mensaje: Comparte esta información y anima a otros a involucrarse en la causa. Citamos a Paula Gonzalez por una frase que nos ha parecido muy acertada: "Necesitamos un organismo a nivel nacional ya. Antiespecista, claro. Que considere a los animales silvestres y “de granja” y tenga protocolos de rescate para ellos. Que desmantele criaderos, la compraventa, las ganaderías industriales y coordine santuarios." Y también recordamos que hay 15 científicos que se enfrentan a 21 meses de cárcel por echar zumo de remolacha en el congreso en protesta por la inacción del gobierno contra el cambio climático. Conocer la historia del veganismo es súper importante, igual que conocer la historia de otros movimientos sociales. No partimos de cero y tenemos mucho que aprender de quienes han formado parte del movimiento en el pasado. Si leemos cualquier artículo sobre la historia del veganismo, podremos ver que se hace hincapié en que el veganismo tiene tan solo un significado. ¿Es esto correcto? Hoy abordaremos esta cuestión. Para mí es difícil hablar de la historia del veganismo sin mencionar que existen diferencias ideológicas y estratégicas incluso a la hora de definir el veganismo. El veganismo es exclusivamente por los animales no humanos. Y no es porque otras causas no sean importantes, simplemente es el movimiento que los demás animales merecen. Merecen que les pongamos en el foco y alcemos sus voces para, en algún momento, abolir la explotación animal. COMENCEMOS CON LA HISTORIA En 1943 algunos miembros de la Sociedad Vegetariana de Londres, entre ellos Donald Watson y Leslie Cross, cuestionaron el consumo de lácteos exponiendo que para las vacas la pérdida de sus crías es conparable a la pérdida de un hijo para una madre humanada. Watson le preguntó a sus compañeros de la Sociedad Vegetriana si se le unían para rechazar los lácteos de forma colectiva. También se oponían al consumo de huevos, pero la guerra habia hecho que no hubiera apenas en el mercado. LLEGAMOS A 1944: Se creó el término “vegan”, que para quien no lo sepa es el principio y el final de la palabra veg(etari)an. Se creó la Vegan Sociey porque la Sociedad Vegetariana se negó a crear un subgrupo para las personas vegetarianas que se oponían al consumo de lácteos. Rechazaron la solicitud, es muy fuerte. El 1 de noviembre de 1944 se publicó el primer de la revista “The Vegan News” y en el cual se expuso la necesidad de la abolición de la explotación animal. En 1945 se estableció que el objetivo de la Sociedad Vegana es oponerse a la explotación de toda vida sintiente, sea rentable o no para el ser humano. En 1946 Watson fue elegido como el primer presi de la Sociedad Vegana. En 1947, Fay Henderson, la secretaria de la sociedad vegana afirmó en una revista que “una persona que se considera así misma vegana, es aquella que rechaza toda forma de explotación animal”. En 1949, Leslie Cross publicó un artículo titulado "En busca del veganismo", en el se aborda la definición del veganismo. Sugería que este fuera entendido como "el principio de la emancipación de los animales de la explotación a la que les somete el ser humano". En este también recalcaba que cada vez que alguien intentaba definir el veganismo, sin una definición oficial, estaba dandosu idea de lo que significaba el veganismo, y no la definición real y que fuera consistente con los principios que se buscaban con este. Entre estos años, Leslie Cross llega a la conclusión de que la forma de llegar a una definición clara y precisa, es a través de definir el veganismo como un principio del cuál se derivan ciertas prácticas por lógica y coherencia con ese mismo principio. Llegamos a la actualidad, donde nunerosas activistas defienden que se ha tergiversado el veganismo. A mi me gusta pensar que las personas veganas que no se dedican a divulgar el veganismo ni hacen activismo organizado, es decir , la mayoría, lo hacen lo mejor que pueden con la información que tienen disponible. ¿En qué deberíamos estar de acuerdo todas las personas veganas a la hora de definir el veganismo? Es un principio ético que tiene el objetivo de abolir la explotación animal. Se deriva en numerosas prácticas que consisten en rechazar la explotación animal siempre que sea posible y practicable. El veganismo es exclusivamente para los animales no humanos. Debemos tener un enfoque transversal de las luchas. Ni oprimidas, ni opresoras. También es una cuestión política, porque todo es política. No es moda, ni una dieta, ni un simple estilo de vida. Las personas veganas estanos en contra del especismo. Debemos tener una ideología antiespecista. Volvamos a las diferencias ideológicas y estratégicas. Hay personas que divulgan que el veganismo es bueno para los animales, el planeta, la salud, la humanidad… en lugar de hablar de que una alimentación 100% vegetal es buena para todo. Ante esta diferencia, no debemos usar la carta de la hostilidad horizontal. Debemos tener en cuenta que la comunicación es algo muy personal. Yo nunca iría a mi madre a decirle que el veganismo es un principio de emancipación. Tengo claro que debo usar unas palabras u otras según con quien esté. Diferentes palabras para decir lo mismo, que es donde pienso que está la clave. La historia del veganismo se escribe cada día y llegará el momento en el que al hablar de la historia del veganismo no hablaremos exclusivamente de Watson y Cross. Ojalá alguien escriba pronto un libro abordando los momentos clave a nivel internacional que han ocurrido desde 1944.
