In this electrifying episode of "Born to Watch," your hosts Whitey, Damo, and Dan dive headfirst into the tantalizing world of "5 Guilty Pleasures," revealing those films that sit like hidden gems in their troves of cinematic joy. Dictionary.com defines a guilty pleasure as "something, such as a movie, television program, or piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard." Embracing this definition, our trio sets out to bare their souls and share those movies that ignite their passion, despite perhaps not shining under the critic's spotlight.Starting at number five and working their way to the coveted number one spot, Whitey, Damo, and Dan each unveil their picks, sharing anecdotes and perhaps a few blushes along the way. These are the films that they adore—those secret indulgences that offer comfort, nostalgia, or just plain, unadulterated joy, regardless of their reception by the masses or the critics. After each revelation, the atmosphere thickens with anticipation as the boys cast their votes to determine whether the choice stands as a legitimate "Guilty" pleasure. Debates are had, laughter echoes, and maybe, just maybe, a few surprises are thrown into the mix as they dissect why these films have carved such a special place in their hearts. As the episode reaches its climax, the tension is palpable. Which film will be crowned the guiltiest pleasure of them all? Will it be a unanimous decision, or will the boys find themselves at a crossroads, torn between the sheer joy these films bring and the societal guilt they're supposed to embody? This episode is not just a list; it's a journey through the heart of what makes us love the movies we do, even when the world tells us we shouldn't. So, grab your popcorn and prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions, revelations, and, most importantly, a celebration of the films that make "Born to Watch" and its listeners unabashedly, wonderfully guilty. Please follow the Podcast and join our community at https://linktr.ee/borntowatchpodcast If you are looking to start a podcast and want a host or get guests to pipe in remotely, look no further than Riverside.fmClick the link below https://riverside.fm/?utm_campaign=campaign_1&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=rewardful&via=matthew

Episode 50 - Top 10 Movie ListsWhat movies people love are often a reflection of what makes them who they are.For better or for worse we are going behind the curtain to see how the Born to Watch hosts tick, and what better way than our individual TOP 10 MOVIE LISTS.Listen as we count down from 10 to 1, discussing a little about each choice we make and learning little by little the chaos that forms Born to Watch. As mates for over 35 years we have seen so many movies together and it was that love of watching and discussing those movies that led to the birth of the podcast. Even though we know a lot about each other we have never sat down and done a list of our favourite movies. We each have very different tastes in movies and we think that is what makes Born to Watch so much fun to listen to but in today's episode there is no place to hide. We will lay ourselves at the mercy of the fans and they will either gain some or lose some respect for us in the process. This was a fun episode to prepare for and really got all of us thinking about the movies that meant the most to us. We have no doubt by the end of Episode 50 that you will know a little more about each of us, and we are ok with that.

In this episode of VFMW, we compile random lists of horror movies that are connected in some way, either personal or something about the films. When brainstorming the idea of this episode we all took pretty different directions with our lists. Guess along with us as we try to guess these chaotic lists of movies. In this episode, Sophie talks about The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, Talia compares the fans of Midsommar vs. Hereditary, and Kelsey is done with movie theaters and wants to end her Regal membership. At the end of the episode we discuss some anticipated watches for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We hope you enjoy the guessing game we play this episode as well as some of our chaotic discourse. Clare and Hannah continue their epic journey through their 21 favorite movies. That's 21 for each of them, so according to their math skills, that's 57 movies... or thereabouts. Our movies include such famous lines as, "Do, or do not. There is no try," "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti," and "Waffles! She's frozen with fear!" Yeah, that last one seems out of place to us, too.
In this episode we discuss the top movies (and our favorites) from 2010-2020. We ask and answer: how does this decade compare to previous ones? are any of our all time favorites in this decade? what are our alternates? we also briefly go through a couple top movies lists and see if we agree at all with the rankings. movies discussed in this episode: Boyhood, Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood, Parasite, Lady Bird, Roma, Black Panther, Moonlight, Blade Runner 2049, The Social Network, Death of Stalin, Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Looper, Dunkirk, Interstellar, La La Land, Phantom Thread, Steve Jobs (2015), and The Master. *Correction note: Wes mentions that the cinematographer of ‘Roma’ was Emmanuel Lubezki, however the cinematographer was actually the films director, Alfonso Cuarón.
In this first episode of our second season, we return from our holiday break to geek out about our top 21 favorite movies. We chose that number for no particular reason, obviously. We won't give away any of the movie titles, but here are some hints: a llama in a diner, Grabthar's Hammer, and the man who cried, "RIIIICK!"
Greg and Joe are joined by Justin Louzon to discuss a recent New York Times piece that lists out the top 25 actors of the 21st century (so far). Some spicy takes in this one!

Welcome to Bird Barf 30, where Mary DIDN'T get really lazy and actually added the theme music this time! In this episode, Mary and Miranda continue their discussion of movies 29-11 from "The 60 Best Horror Movies Streaming on Netflix (Fall 2016)", and go off on about 50,000 tangents. We also give really weird shoutouts to several of our friends, and we ask an unreasonable amount of questions and display some general ignorance. It's fun. Also, our connection was terrible, so sorry about some of the crazy editing - Mary had to do some scrambling. The list we used can once again be found here (and again - apologies to the author, who we did praise a lot in this one): https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2016/10/the-60-best-horror-movies-streaming-on-netflix-oct-1.html Also, we swear a lot, so keep that in mind.
Welcome to Bird Barf 29, where Mary got really lazy and didn't bother adding any music! This episode goes from film recommendations 60-30, because we just kept talking. 30-1 coming next week! The list we used can be found here (and we'd like to apologize to the author - he made great choices, let's be real): https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2016/10/the-60-best-horror-movies-streaming-on-netflix-oct-1.html
