Kasey Chambers is a living legend. Five number one albums, fourteen ARIA Awards, she is the youngest woman to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Kasey grew up with music. As a kid she'd travel across the Nullabor with her dad, at the end of each day the family would always gather around the campfire to sing songs. She would go on to play with the family band, but it was her 1999 debut album The Captain that was her breakthrough to a solo career that has been rich and rewarding. That debut turns 25 this year, and to mark the anniversary I dipped into the archives for a Take 5 we captured back in 2019. We were celebrating The Captain back then, and the other musical breakthroughs Kasey had experienced through her life. I loved this chat so much; Kasey is a ray of light with her feet firmly on the ground. And hearing her talk about the songs she loves was such a gift.Emmylou Harris - ‘Boulder to Birmingham'Ben Harper - ‘Fight For Your Mind'J.S. Ondara - ‘Torch Song'Beyoncé - ‘Don't Hurt Yourself {Ft. It's the first time in our history we've less than 5 indigenous players on the list. But that doesn't mean 3 isn't good quality company. Time to Restump Podcast the Saturday night scrap against the Saints. For a club that is known for its adoption and celebration of indigenous culture and its rich history of numerous indigenous players, we have recently seen a sharp decline in numbers down at the purple Port. For our entire history leading up to the start of 2024, we have averaged over 7 indigenous players per year and, as mentioned, we've never had less than five on our list. However, with the departures of Joel Hamling, Liam Henry, Nathan Wilson and Roy Benning at the end of 2023, Sonny Walters, Alex Pearce and Conrad Williams are carrying the indigenous representation load. Albeit from across the aisle, we reunite with Ross and say hello to Henry Saturday night in a must win game against the Saints. Our former coach has obviously had enough of his team's wayward form, swinging the axe, making six significant changes.Out goes Seb Ross, Liam Stocker, Jack Hayes, Hugo Garcia and the two goals a game forward against Freo, Tim Membrey. While it appears down at Cockburn central we are going in with an unchanged line up, we do have some interesting emergencies. Will Liam Reidy be a late in to make his debut and give Luke Jackson a chop out in the ruck? Whatever the case, let's hope all the goal kicking radars got a tune up during the week.Should be a very close game. Both teams are extremely similar in regards to offensive and defensive numbers and its incredibly difficult to get a genuine handle on the form of both clubs. The Mi Casa Property Boutique Metres Gained Competition is back for the weekend. A $50 spend from 2 Bros Foods is up for grabs or $100 in the ongoing Bailey Banfield special. Check our social medias Friday for the competition post. Apparently, the teams that do little to no traveling, think getting across the Nullabor every second week is no big deal because a few guys get to travel in business class. No doubt they're the same VFL clubs who have complained about having to travel to Marvel stadium! The remaining fixtures are out and, surprise surprise, we've been handed a bunch of dead zone timeslot games beginning WA morning times! Anyway, plenty to talk about but let's focus on the task at hand, which is, in a good-natured way, giving Liam a little lip and showing the Lyon no love. The pod isn't going to preview itself so let's get into it and look for a path to the four-point bank. Support the Show.

I had the absolute pleasure to catch up with Claire Wyatt and have her talk about her amazing cycle tour around Australia.  Fans of the show will recognise Claire from a previous episode where we chatted about how bicycle touring has become a way of life.  Claire was partway through her trip of Australia then, having completed the entire east coast from Tasmania to the Atherton Tablelands.  In this episode we fill in the gaps from what came next as Claire made her way across to the Northern Territory, Darwin, then cycled straight down the middle of Australia, visiting Uluru on her way to the very bottom of South Australia,  From there she cycled west, across the Nullabor and then finished her ride in Perth, Western Australia. It's a huge trip of around 15,000km -and one which saw Claire often take the road less travelled.  She had long stretches of isolation on this route, and had to carry water and food which would last multiple days between services.  She wild camped and battled the heat, relentless gale forced headwinds as well as the cold of the desert through winter time.  It was a truly monumental journey and I got a real sense of the spirit of adventure Claire has, as she retold her story, sharing her experiences in this interview.Be sure to follow Claire via the following channels:Instagram - @exploringbybicycleBlog - Wandering WyattNEW! - Leave a Voice Message! Is the purple climate changing? Is he taking the AFL world by storm? Should we rain in the hype? Cyclone, Dick Treacy, The Big Cohuna… or now Birdman… whatever you call him, the impactful Josh Treacy joins us for a chat. After a few failed attempts at trying to entice Josh Treacy to come on for a chat, he finally weakened and gave us the green light. Whether it was simply because he wanted the pestering to stop or not is irreverent! The fact is he's on and we couldn't be happier. We talk early footy and family life and his way to the draft and then consequent rookie draft. His feeling about getting an opportunity and having to leave the family and travel across the Nullabor. He takes us through his time at Fremantle, his early suspensions clocking poor Brady Grey and dropping Jed Bews who he'll meet again Saturday. We cover last week's career best game and his future vision. Is he a Docker for life? Is he a WA boy now? While this episode is largely focused on the cyclonic conditions, we also take a bit of a look at Saturday's Walyalup game against Geelong in the Sir Doug Nichols round. Like we did Sydney, are we getting the Cats at the right time? The Cats aren't travelling all that flash and their form has at times been a little deceiving. The midfield looks an area where we could assert some superiority. With the Cats losing Mitch Duncan and without Dangerfield, it could leave them a little light on and our inclusion of Nat Fyfe may only widen the gap. Cameron and Hawkins are obviously the key but they also welcome back the super talented 2022 All Australian, Tyson Stengle, who kicked 3 on us down in Geelong last year. And let's not forget Tom Stewart down the other end who intercepted galore on his way to forty touches in that game. We're in form, its indigenous round, we've got a good challenge against the Cats and we've got Birdman Treacy chatting away. So, if you're having a lazy Friday arvo, kick back further for an hour and listen to Josh Treacy cover up our nonsense. Support the show

Also: * The Federal Government says it will create a new law enabling it to declare a national state of emergency.  It's one of the recommendations made by the Natural Disaster Royal Commission. * National cabinet has today announced its national vaccine strategy to roll out a mass program as soon as possible. * Less than a week before Scott Morrison is due to visit PNG the future of the country’s PM’s hangs in the balance after a mass walkout on his coalition government. * Aboriginal leaders have blasted inaction on reducing indigenous incarceration rates, at the National Aboriginal press Club's first televised speakers event in Darwin.    * International students who study in Australia have slammed today's announcement that ex-patriate Australians returning home will get priority over students stuck overseas. * It's an age old problem - but is the government's Jobmaker program increasing discrimination against older workers?

Join Kym Hagon and Dan Steers as they step back in to the Double Dan timeline circa 2011. This is the era of the infamous rogue Amelia, prompting her excommunication from the team and one way ticket out of the country.  Steers finds himself having words with yet another event organiser and Dan James is MIA at Equitana after a few rums. Are the DD horses out of control, or are they meant to be behaving like that? That's up for debate - check out "Double Dans Horses Get Out Of Control" on YouTube! As Equitana draws to a close the Dan's have rid themselves of that disastrous truck - but now they have to leave the country and can't find the keys to the new truck to get it off the Equitana grounds. Everyone's packed up and gone, but the Double Dan team are stranded.  Finally in New Zealand it's moments away from Equidays and the Dans are roaming the countryside trying to find horses to use in their show. Time is running out....and they don't have an act without horses! Steers spills the beans on a few renowned horsemen getting loose, but also admits being driven home from NZs equestrian party of the year by his mum. Before the boys wrap up 2011 they'll be on the run from the police across the Nullabor with a stowaway - of course.  It's another action packed episode and the last part of the story with both Dans together before Dan James leaves for America, and features a comment from Kym Hagon that's just too controversial to print - you'll have to tune in to find out what comes out of this wildcard's mouth!

The first segment of this special interview reviews the master horseman’s long and brilliant career as a trainer and driver in the harness racing field. Fred tells the story of his grandfather taking two pacers from Adelaide to Perth by ship, while the rest of the family crossed the Nullabor in an old Buick car. The Kersleys have been in Western Australia ever since. He reflects on the brilliant training and driving career of his father Fred Kersley Snr, who had never been able to win a WA Pacing Cup.Towards the end of his career, young Fred was able to give him the winning drive on James Eden in the historic race. It was a night of high emotion. Fred looks back on his very slow start as a trainer/driver. He couldn’t have imagined that he’d go on to win 16 metropolitan premierships. The master horseman recalls his association with the great pacer Pure Steel. He won the WA Derby with the up and coming champion, but later lost the horse following a disagreement with owner Russell Roberts. Fred pays tribute to Classic Garry, perhaps the fastest horse he ever drove. He has some nice things to say about this brilliant racehorse and hugely influential sire. He acknowledges some of the great drivers with whom he competed on Western Australian tracks.

Kasey Chambers is a living legend. Five number one albums, fourteen ARIA Awards, she recently became the youngest woman to be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Kasey grew up with music. As a kid she’d travel across the Nullabor with her dad, at the end of each day the family would always gather around the campfire to sing songs. She’d end up playing with the family band, but it was her 1999 debut album The Captain that was her breakthrough to a solo career that has been rich and rewarding. That debut turns 20 this year, so I thought it’d be fun to reflect back on the other musical breakthroughs through Kasey’s life. The moments that have nudged her in a new direction, or won her as a fan. Hearing Kasey talk about music is a joy; as with her own music, she wears her heart on her sleeve. From Emmylou Harris to Beyonce to Steve Earle, this is a beautiful journey through a life filled with gratitude. Emmylou Harris - ‘Boulder to Birmingham’ Ben Harper - ‘Fight For Your Mind’ J.S. Ondara - ‘Torch Song’ Beyoncé - ‘Don't Hurt Yourself {Ft. Jack White}’ Steve Earle - ‘Copperhead Road’
