Sarah's got some TV for you to watch, including, ‘TMZ Presents: Hulk Hogan' - if you're into that. Did you have to pay these shocking Outside Lands ride share surge prices? Is it over between Kylie and Timmy, or is he just filming Dune: Part 3? What's sexier than a tiger? ‘Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale' is coming! Siblings are just a strange part of life, so is it surprising that 1 in 4 people are estranged from a sibling? When was the last time you were carded? Pacifiers are part of a weird trend… for adults. Sarah isn't standing for it.

This week, we are joined by a lactation expert to talk about all things breastfeeding. Naiomi Catron is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), former labor & delivery nurse, and author of Milk'D: Finding Your Flow In The First Weeks of Breastfeeding. We kick things off with the most common breastfeeding mistake Naomi sees new moms make (and how to fix it), plus how to maximize your milk production in those first days after birth (spoiler alert: it involves a plastic spoon!?). Naiomi tells us the difference between breast milk and formula (and the point that “breast is best” totally MISSES). She also answer whether or not “just one drop” of breast milk is beneficial for a newborn. From pacifiers to the best ways to increase milk supply to when you can finally drop that middle-of-the-night pumping session — Naomi has the answers. Plus, a personal favorite - she shares the role dads can play in making the whole breastfeeding process easier. Whether you're pregnant, in the thick of it, or just curious about the science and strategy behind feeding a newborn, this episode is full of the kind of no-BS, expert-informed advice every parent needs to hear. In this spicy World Breastfeeding Week episode of The Birth Lounge podcast, HeHe is calling out the BS that's messing with your breastfeeding journey. From the "feed every three hours" myth to the outdated fear around nursing your baby to sleep, we're busting it all wide open. HeHe breaks down 9 of the most common (and flat-out harmful) pieces of advice that new parents are being fed — and shows you exactly how to ditch the bad info and trust your baby, your body, and your instincts instead. We're talking evidence-based truth bombs, real-time solutions, and the exact shifts that can make breastfeeding feel less like a struggle and more like second nature. You'll also get access to HeHe's free class on how to avoid a c-section, because spoiler alert: how you feed your baby matters, but how you're supported while doing it matters even more. This episode is for every new or expecting parent who's feeling overwhelmed, confused, or just plain tired of hearing 15 different opinions on the same thing. Welcome back to the kitchen table. A pacifier may seem like just a small comfort item, but it actually holds a beautiful lesson about the gospel. When our little ones reach for it, they're showing a need for comfort, much like our own need for God's presence in times when we need comfort. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us that God is the "Father of all comfort" who is present in our afflictions, offering us peace when we feel alone or overwhelmed. As we respond to our child's need for comfort—offering a hug, a gentle word, or a pacifier—we're reflecting God's love to them. They begin to see that, just as they can rely on us, we can all rely on God in our struggles. Each time we bring them comfort, we're not only meeting a physical need; we're providing a glimpse of God's nature, teaching them to trust and extend that same compassion to others. In those small moments, they're experiencing the gospel firsthand. Connect with Bethany hereFollow her on Instagram @bethanykimsey Stop feeling defeated in your motherhood. YOUR BIRTH, GOD’S WAY - Christian Pregnancy, Natural Birth, Postpartum, Breastfeeding Help
Most of the time conversation about how to feed your baby centers around the nutrient value of breastfeeding versus formula feeding. That is a very important conversation, obviously. But as is often the case, when we move away from God's design, there is a “trickle down” impact that flows into so many other areas of life that we maybe didn't consider. Today I want to talk with you about the consequences outside of nutrition alone that feeding with a bottle and using a pacifier can have on your baby — and yes, this includes pumping and bottle feeding. **If you are a pregnant woman in eastern Tennessee or western North Carolina and you need help or care, PLEASE CONTACT ME at lori@yourbirthgodsway.com** SPECIAL - Now through 10/31, take 10% off of the entire Online Christian Childbirth Education Course with promo code "helene" because you MUST prepare yourself! Episode 359 - Michelle Mintz - All Done Binky, Pacifiers and their impact on proper speech and language skillsBook: All Done Binky - It is important for a child to stop using their pacifier at a very young age in order to help develop proper speech and language skills. Parents have reported an increase in verbal language when their child completely stopped using their pacifier. This book helps parents and children learn how to wean off the pacifier. The story shows the steps involved beginning with removing it from outside the house, then not using inside the house during activities and finally eliminating it from the bed. The bright colors and simple words are exciting and relatable to young children who will want you to read it to them over and over again! The Author: Everyone has a special gift. You may know what yours is or perhaps you have not yet discovered it. I am fortunate to know that my special gift is having the key that is needed to help children unlock the doors of communication. I have this wonderful ability to relate to children in such a way that they feel comfortable and have fun at the same time that they are blooming. For over 25 years, my passion has been connecting and communicating with parents, grandparents, nannies, siblings and their babies from birth through five years old. Guiding both the children and adults during my sessions provides me with great joy and pride. To be present for the beautiful moment when a mom hears her child speak a word they have never spoken before is an inspiring and exhilarating shared experience.Watching the looks of pure awe and joy from the families when they see their baby making those connections is what continues to drive my passion for helping other babies bloom. As babies bloom…families blossom.Through my years of experience, I have discovered that coaching those who spend the most time with a baby such as parents, grandparents, and nannies to integrate my proactive strategies into their natural daily activities is the most impactful way to help a baby bloom.https://babybloomingmoments.com/___Support the Show.https://livingthenextchapter.com/Want to support the show and get bonus content?https://www.buzzsprout.com/1927756/subscribe

The single most prevalent piece of dog and newborn advice that I see on social media is for people to bring home the hospital baby blanket for your dog to sniff before baby comes home. I wanted to bust this myth and to share how at the very best, this misguided advice could be neutral...and at the worst, it could even be dangerous. Why people advise to bring home the hospital baby blanket for your dog to smellThey think that simply smelling something will build a positive associationIt's doable, which must be better than nothing, right? In dog training, we often expose dogs to certain stimuli to make positive associations. So the same concept should apply here, right? (hint - NO)Risks of bringing home the baby blanket for the dog to sniffThis step is rushed and no effort is made to pair the blanket with good things from the dog's perspectiveIf a parent leaves the blanket unattended with the dog, it could be used as a dog bed, could be torn up or used to play tug - all of which could be dangerous when baby comes home and wears a blanket laterThe blanket smells like the hospital, nursing staff, and many other pungent odors - what is the dog really smelling? It can get the dog too excited about the arrival of the baby later. Aimee is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist and mommy to 3 boys. She is the owner of Oceans Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry with her husband and practices in Westfield, New Jersey. Listen to our first episode with Aimee: Teething, Pacifiers, & Early Oral Health Habits with Pediatric Dentist Dr. Aimee LeibowitzHelpful Notes from this Episode:How many times should a toddler brush their teeth a day? Twice is ideal, however if were being more real mama realistic it might be once — but make sure you make that ONE time NIGHTTIME bc after a full day of eating breakfast lunch dinner snacks etc you def don't want them going to bed with dirty teeth, saliva isn't slowing as much when we sleep, and that food/plaque will just sit overnight on the enamel causing decay. Morning brush would be great but I know in my house mornings are a hot mess most of the time so something as simple as putting the age appropriate amount of toothpaste on the brush and giving it to your kiddo and letting them do their thing is A-OK and way better than skipping it all togetherToothpaste with fluoride or without fluoride? The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends an age appropriate amount of fluoride toothpaste as soon as the first tooth erupts. It's been proven with extremely good high quality studies that fluoride prevents cavities. If you are looking for a fluoride alternative brands like Risewell or Boka are HYDROXYAPETITE toothpastes that act in a similar and more natural way to fluoride to strengthen teeth. What kinds of foods support teeth health? Low carb foods i.e. your crunchy leafy veggies, cheese, nuts, meats, water, now let's be real mama realistic again for hot sec - is this a typical diet for most toddlers — no however encouraging them and exposing them to these foods from the get go will help establish healthy habits, rather than the chicken finger and mac cheese diet. Other great choices fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, popcorn. For sweets: dark chocolate and ice cream are a way better option than fruit snacks, candy or cookies. What is the least worst Halloween candy? Chocolates are a keep as they wash away off our teeth faster, gummies and sours etc. are a trash as they stick and cling to the teeth long after you've finished eating them. How do we talk to our toddlers about candy? I love to use the term “sugar bugs” to talk about cavities. For Halloween: I tell parents let your kids go crazy that night, eat what they want and after that GET RID OF IT. FREQUENCY is way worse than QUANTITY. Meaning if you having pieces of candy every single day over months its more like to cause cavities than if you had a whole lot all at once right on Halloween.
