This week we have a 2-part series. In part 2 I chat at length with Alexandra who grew close to a family friend before deciding to follow him out of state and into the clasp of a high demand controlling group known as RSE. Alexandra tells the story from her perspective, allowing us keen insight into what attempts at connection made by her father truly worked, and what could have been done, if anything, to help Alexandra come home sooner. On this episode of the Sofa King Podcast, we give some respect to one of the greatest comedians to ever live—Rodney Dangerfield. He was a comedy staple in the 70s and 80s, appearing on The Tonight Show over 70 times after he squashed a beef with Johnny Carson. Keep in mind that doing that show even one time as a comedian could make your career. He then turned a small role in Caddyshack into a career-defining moment alongside Bill Murray and Chevy Chase, and he went on to star in Easy Money and Back to School along with other film classics. His persona of Rodney Dangerfield was fictitious. His legal name was Jack Roy (though he was born Jacob Cohen), and the Dangerfield name was taken from a comedy bit he saw as a young man. But the “No Respect” gimmick was what made him famous. He overheard it from a gangster, and he retooled all of his comedy to revolve around that one concept. It wasn't a hard concept for him since his childhood was one of abuse and abandonment. In the end, he became a comedy legend who opened one of the most successful comedy clubs ever and was even a pioneer in the early days of the internet. So, give Rodney and SK some respect, and give this one a listen! You didn't think flat-earthers had cornered the market on looney tunes, pseudoscientific explanations for how the world works, did you? Well, we pop that thought balloon this week as we delve into the world of the Electric Universe. TL;DR - all of that crap you learned in school was wrong and the root of every force in the universe is electricity. Oh, and black holes don't exist. There's more and if you want to hear it you'll have to tune-in (you should tune-in either way). Plus, C-Bot releases his final campaign commercial before the election (we know, we can't wait for it to be over either), Kyle explains the internet (you can guess how that goes), and TJ Withington of the "Pick Me Podcast" gets his wish and joins the show (we don't get it either). All of that and more on the podcast that tends to pay attention to science...especially when it comes to pandemics - Hysteria 51.Special thanks to this week’s research sources:Research Assistant - Raymond Walden IVBooksThunderbolts of the Gods | David Talbott & Wallace ThornhillThe Electric Sky | Donald E. http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16329&start=360#p125466 I discovered the empirical shortcomings of meteorology after I discovered them in climatology. My reasoning was very simple. Knowing that the origins of climatology are in meteorology, I reasoned that if AGW is as bad as it appears then meteorology must also have skeletons in its closet. So I did something that nobody has done before, I looked at the convection model of storm theory with scrutiny. I found numerous fatal flaws and I found that meteorologists have long ago established a tradition of ignoring these fatal flaws. My point is that you/we cannot defeat a conversational science based on empiricism because conversational sciences are based on allegories that appeal to the base sensations of the public. The only way to defeat a conversational science is to reveal it as such to the public. And the best way to reveal it to the public is to start with meteorology since this is the spring from which it sprang (or is it sprung?). The conversational tradition is the problem and its roots are in meteorology, not climatology. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message

http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16329&start=165#p122167 The 'plasma' of my model is novel, unfamiliar and, therefore, hard to accept. But that is the case for any scientific discovery. Alfred Wegener proposed continental drift in 1912. It took geologists 50 years to warm up to the idea. Now, however, when you look at a map of the southern Atlantic ocean the congruence of the eastern and western shorelines jumps out at you. When it came to deducing the molecular composition of atmospheric vortices and arriving at the conjecture that they contained wind shear generated, rapidly spinning polymers of H2O, I feel that I had a huge advantage that allowed me to avoid a common misassumption that traps others. I knew that the sheath of the tornado must involve some kind of molecular distinction. These principles prevented me from making the common error of casually assuming that the molecular composition of tornadoes was the same as that of air and/or moist air. I've encountered a number of other tornado theorists and it is very common for them to casually assume that a tornado is just fast spinning air. They don't take into account the fact that the sheath needed to possess the ability to resist itself from casually mixing with the surrounding air molecules. In other words, my principles of entitiness allowed me to realize that tornadoes could not persist as entities if the molecules that comprise the sheath of the tornado did not possess some kind of internal resilience greater than that of just air. greetings and apologies for the time between episodes! the music industry (among with many other creative industries) facing a severe downturn because of the recent pandemic and the general deluge of traumatic news has made me reflect more on smaller, more understated artistic triumphs as an antidote. so this episode i escape the present by talking about some timeless music from the recent past: the unassuming yet grandiose singer-songwriter Nina Nastasia, and particularly her (in my opinion) best albums The Blackened Air and Run To Ruin. things discussed in the podcast: Chris Dahlen's Pitchfork review of The Blackened Air: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/5713-the-blackened-air/ and Run To Ruin: https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/5712-run-to-ruin/ John Peel archive video on Nina Nastasia: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWNjoa4nLYo Electrical Audio "Crap/Not Crap" thread on Nina Nastasia: https://www.electricalaudio.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=663 Nina Nastasia's music on the dreaded Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1llUGXhBESnmaCxpBV4zwe recent track featuring Nina Nastasia: https://danielknox.bandcamp.com/track/the-poisoner-feat-nina-nastasia Phosphorescent "Been So Long" cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZrcNZBKnic music included in this episode: "Young Folks" by Peter, Bjorn and John (2006) by Nina Nastasia: "Oblivion" and "Roadkill" from Dogs (2000) "This Is What It Is", "Rosemary", and "Been So Long" from The Blackened Air (2002) "Superstar", "We Never Talked", "I Say That I Will Go", "You Her and Me", and "On Teasing" from Run To Ruin (2003) "Our Day Trip" from On Leaving (2006) "Outlaster" from Outlaster (2010) title music as always is "Museum of Agony" from the PS2 game Stretch Panic by Norio Hanzawa

We all grow up believing that the moisture in clear air is gaseous http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16471 Most of us have at least enough education to realize the boiling point of water is much higher than that of our ambient environment. And most of us realize that boiling has to do with a phase change from a liquid state of matter to a gaseous state of matter. Most of us reconcile this dichotomy by just not thinking about it. Some of us come up with rationalization to explain it away. But if you are going to do science you can't fall back on these excuses. You have to see things for what they actually are. There is no gaseous H2O in earth's atmosphere. Moist air is heavier than dry air. Moist air convection is impossible. Meteorology needs another way to explain the power of storms, why storms are wet, and how heavier moist air gets so high in earth's atmosphere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwSyalcoRAk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dexlOvP7mPw James McGinn Solving Tornadoes --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message

Superstition and half-baked theory dominate the atmospheric sciences. Currently meteorological theories on atmospheric flow and storms maintain three superstitious and half-baked notions: 1) Convection. This is the superstition that evaporation makes air buoyant enough to power strong updrafts in the atmosphere (included in this is the strange belief that H2O in the atmosphere becomes gaseous at temperatures/pressures that have never been detected in a laboratory); 2) Dry layer capping. This is a superstition that imagines dry layers having structural properties that explain the how/why convection does not constantly produce storms and uplift; 3) Latent heat. This is the superstition that phase changes from a gaseous phase of H2O (which are purported to exist despite never having been detected and being inconsistent with what is indicated in the H2O phase table) to a liquid phase releases "latent heat" which itself has never been confirmed/verified. In accordance with which, the current meteorological paradigm assumes hurricanes are caused by warm water. Actually the energy of hurricanes and all storms comes from jet streams and is delivered through vortices in the form of low pressure. Wind shear at low altitudes is the most important predictor of severe weather. This is because wind shear is the mechanism underlying growth of the vortices that are the transport mechanism of the low pressure energy. Warm moist air/water is not the source of the energy of storms, it's the target of vortice growth. http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16329&start=165#p122167 The 'plasma' of my model is novel, unfamiliar and, therefore, hard to accept. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message

Title: Elasticity of Hydrogen Bonds Underlies Spinning of Polymerized H2O Molecules On Wind Sheer Boundaries Which Underlies Emergence of Vortice Plasma http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16329&start=360#p123034 The sheath of a tornado is a form of surface tension. It is a plasma of spinning, churning H2O molecules. It has structural strength and a surface—common characteristics of plasmas. But the origin of this strength doesn’t involve the forces associated with ionic bonds, as is the case with most plasmas. Instead this is a kind of plasma that involves the forces associated with hydrogen bonds. I thought of it as surface tension that is expressed in three dimensions—surface tension on steroids! I conjectured that hydrogen bonds must be distinctive from covalent or ionic bonds in that with hydrogen bonds the force that creates the bond must be deactivated by the bond itself. And so, whereas with a covalent bond or an ionic bond the force that brings them together remains, with hydrogen bonds the force that brings them together is deactivated--neutralized. Accordingly, the fewer bonds that an H2O molecule shares with other H2O molecules the stronger are these bonds. Conversely, the greater were the number of bonds an H2O molecule shared with other H2O molecules the weaker were these bonds—all the way down to having zero strength when fully bonded. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message
http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16329&start=165#p122133 the plasma in this article is very different from the plasma in my model. The plasma in my model is, actually, a combination of air and nanodroplets of H2O. Or, I should say, that is how it starts out; also, in my model these H2O nanodroplets are spinning very rapidly. The spinning is a consequence of wind shear. (Did you ever wonder why tornadoes are associated with wind shear in the lower troposphere? Well, keep reading.) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message

Correction to The Current Model of Hydrogen Bonding in Water http://www.thunderbolts.info/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17448 Understanding the intrinsic elasticity of hydrogen bonds between H2O molecules in liquid water involves three insights: 1) Firstly one must comprehend that the force that brings H2O molecules together (polarity) is a result of the asymmetry (lopsidedness) of the H2O molecule's electromagnetic signature. 2) Secondly one must comprehend that hydrogen bonds between water molecules reverse this electromagnetic asymmetry achieving electromagnetic symmetry (balance) thereby neutralizing some fraction (see below) of the magnitude of this force. 3) Lastly one must comprehend how this neutralization is relative (according to proximity) and fractional, a maximum of 25% per bond as each H2O molecule can form a hydrogen bond with up to four other H2O molecules in its vicinity, potentially neutralizing up to 100% (4 x 25%) of each other's polarity. In short, the magnitude of polarity of H2O molecules in liquid water is inversely related to their interconnectedness. The more interconnected they are (the more comprehensively they are hydrogen bonded to one another) the lower is their polarity. And since polarity determines the magnitude of the force that attracts them to one another, the more interconnected they are the less is the magnitude of the force that keeps them together. Through this understanding most of the anomalies of H2O are easily resolved. And from this we can understand where conventional theorists failed when it comes to understanding water. It is very simple. They understood #1 and they understood the parts of #3 that are not effected by #2 but they completely dropped the ball when it comes to comprehend #2. Simply put, they failed to comprehend that hydrogen bonds bring electrical gradients that oppose and, thereby, cancel out the electrical gradients that cause the H2O molecule's polarity. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/james-mcginn/message

And the fact that these are the only "official" numbers I have seen for Coco related product (even if they are incomplete, and a snapshot of a specific time frame). These were in the archives at the Radio Shack warehouse in Fort Worth, and were obtained by the seller in 2017 when Radio Shack went into bankruptcy.Demolition Derby (4,650 made between April 21, 1988-March 7, 1989): https://www.ebay.com/itm/273893753643 Dino Wars (2,300 made between Sep. 20-21, 1988): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dinowars-Tandy-TRS-80-Radio-Shack-Production-Sample/273893753615 Bustout (1,950 made between Nov. 10, 1988-Nov. 23, 1988): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bustout-Tandy-TRS-80-Radio-Shack-Production-Samples/273893753621 Space Assault (1,925 made between April 20, 1988-Feb. 24, 1989) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Space-Assault-Tandy-TRS-80-Radio-Shack-Production-Sample-Complete-in-Box/283519897602 Monster Maze (made between April 20, 1988-Sep 19,1988 Can't quite read qtys - at least 1558?) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Monster-Maze-Tandy-TRS-80-Radio-Shack-Production-Sample-Complete-in-Box/283519897605 4) Matchy (I don't know his real name) has released as DSK image for his Atari 2600 Combat type game called Tank Out, that we showed last week. We'll also review some news from around the retro web, including Davy Mitchell's retro corner and Dragon games, Jim Gerries MC-10 trophy challenges, and more, tune in at 2PM EDT at http://live.cocotalk.live NEWS LINKS:CoCo PSG Tank Battle (Mat Chy)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXRhwG8Feq4&fbclid=IwAR1PKrYzl5jI8xNOqPXVabUNmbsu_J1tnleUw-kFRy1v904DRjEwYJI98j0 CoCo Mystery unboxing - Amigos Retro Gaming:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCjshz4YhYM&fbclid=IwAR37lH5J3QNinKBVr8HV1cAOTvCOcakOyhEU7SSbKHlUPdeM8SHEzshmzYc AGD downloadable packs:http://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5971 AGD Pack #30http://archive.worldofdragon.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6077&fbclid=IwAR3r-b-QjQjXjKRzSbk2ZUf4S3eNznJ1c5msCSfCRNywPiO5cTpYHctEZpg Nick Marentes Waterfall:http://www.nickmarentes.com/ProjectArchive/waterfall.html Glen Dahlgren (Sun Dog Systems)https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/permalink/10157244056382641/ Jeff Vavosaur Atari StarWars Arcade emulation:https://www.facebook.com/groups/2359462640/permalink/10157247518017641/?sfnsn=mo Dragon videos from Davy's retro corner:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJCLq3KjoSU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oD6OjCa_feQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCGY0qSRrU8 Charlie's MC-10 page:http://chazbeenhad.tripod.com/?fbclid=IwAR1dY3BlYAXGYaa8MVCszyEbdzLOgOqdHs3M37QwttZFPGmqcBhhyJ9nepA Jamie Cho MC-10 grouphttps://www.facebook.com/groups/731424100317748/permalink/2162992693827541/ Jim Gerrie's type-in mania page:http://faculty.cbu.ca/jgerrie/Home/jgames.html?fbclid=IwAR1D514SIT_wranG_TcIpcbz2ihtEmcPvs0P7AJuRT1BVi59oZXJRFr8_k4 MC-10 group:https://www.facebook.com/groups/731424100317748/?epa=SEARCH_BOX

The Sinclair ZX80 and ZX81 Welcome to the Floppy Days Podcast with myself, Randy Kindig, and a whole host of vintage computers surrounding me, each one wanting their time in the limelight. This will be part 2 of the 2-part series on the Sinclair ZX80 & 81 computer line. Once again, I will have one of the grand-daddy’s of vintage computer podcasting, Earl Evans, co-hosting with me as we complete the journey through one of the historically significant computers from across the pond. We will be covering the normal topics from where we left off the last show, so we’ll be talking about peripherals, software, books & magazines, ads, emulators, Web sites and whatever else comes to mind. Before we do that, though, I do want to talk a bit about my new acquisitions and projects, let you know about upcoming shows so you can make your plans, and I might even have a little feedback. I want to thank Ian Bucknell for providing his thoughts and memories of the ZX81. Welcome to CoCoTALK! Episode 34, the first live CoCoTALK! we've had in about 3 weeks. Due to home internet issues, ogStevieStrow has been unable to live stream the show, the past few episodes have been pre-recorded. Today Grant Leighty takes over as both the live stream host and the show host for episode 34. The primary topics discussed were Discord, the new audio/video chat application most of the panel of CoCoTALK! use to communicate behind-the-scenes, as well as some of the differences between using various emulators and real hardware. Next week we hope to be back to the regular program, thanks for sticking with us.
