Coach Claire's information on a variety of running topics have really helped as a beginner; I especially love the mental strength minute segment! I am so excited to start my Half Marathon training plan from The Planted Runner in a few weeks.

So how can you fuel properly and break this cycle? On today's episode, we're going to break down one of the most common and misunderstood fueling patterns I see in endurance runners and how to actually nourish your body for performance and for life. You'll learn why this happens in the first place, how underfueling is quietly sabotaging your performance and recovery, and how to fuel all day long so your runs and your life are just better. And if you want a simple guide to follow along with everything we're talking about today, I've got you covered. You can grab my free fueling guide at www.theplantedrunner.com/join. Today,we're doing something a little different. You'll be listening in on a coaching call I'm having with one of my athletes. If you've ever wondered what it's like, here you go! I'm talking to PR Teammate Danny and I'm just going to include the intro he wrote for himself, because it's awesome. Danny spent his first four decades avoiding cardio (or any sport for that matter), before hitting a mid-life crisis. After dropping 20 kg, a friend promptly scammed him into running a full marathon as his first-ever race. Plot twist: the friend Did Not Start (DNS) due to injury, leaving him to suffer the 42.2 Km alone. He's been addicted ever since. Now, he's obsessed with the mental grit of the sport and can be found @zidaniey when not busy drenching his kit in Singapore's humidity while battling his shoe-shopping addiction. Danny is training for both Sydney and Chicago this fall and wants to be sure he's scheduled his tune-up races just right. We have runners from all over the world on the team and this was such a fun conversation I know you'll enjoy. And of course, if you want to get in on the fun, what are you waiting for? Marathon history is full of drama, heroes and quite a few myths that you are probably perpetuating yourself at your local run club. Today, I'm going to talk with author, coach, and historian Martin Dugard. Martin is the author of a dozen #1 New York Times bestsellers, he's a Board Member of the USA Track and Field Foundation, and blogs weekly as The Paper Kenyan on martindugard.com. His new book, The Long Run, dives into the rich history of the marathon and debunks some of the most pervasive myths in the sport. We discuss: The origin story of the marathon and what really happened How the jogging craze led to the marathon boom, and The impact of some of the biggest stars of the sport who still influence runners today. And Martin is kind enough to do a book giveaway to listeners of The Planted Runner who live in the US. If you'd like to win a copy of the book, first write an Apple Podcast review of the show and then email me your US shipping address to claire@theplantedrunner.com. RECENT REVIEWS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Informative and entertaining… Helpful and reliable information for training. Inspirational and entertaining as well! Highly recommend. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Running Podcasts Finest Yes, I am one of those who followed Claire over from a previous podcast. Each podcast is like a 5k run; just long enough and packs plenty of informations. Claire manages to tackle plenty of different topics others rarely discuss. Other times she provides fresh reminders to keep sharp. Then there are the eye opening episodes. Her expertise and weekly advice has helped my running game. I'm one of those who listens during the workday and not so much while running. What I also enjoy about the podcast is any episode is easy to review. I'm okay there are few interviews Keep up the great work! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Love this podcast! I have been running for 24 years, but only 3+ as a plant-based runner. I love the info that Coach Claire provides especially the mental strength techniques. I recently got certified as an RRCA Level 1 coach, but have been a little time in taking steps to begin coaching professionally. I think being coached is probably the first step and Coach Claire seems like the best fit for me! Music Credits: Music from Uppbeat

How is it that some people seem to be calm under pressure, aren't bothered by spiraling thoughts, and walk through life with a sense of ease, even when things are hard? Could it be that they are just wired differently? Or is it a skill that can be trained? Let's find out. Today, I'm going to talk about how your brain changes through repetition and why intentional cognitive conditioning can completely alter the way you perform, not just in running, but in life. You'll learn: why repeated thoughts become automatic patterns, how your brain builds stronger pathways through practice, and why small daily mental reps often matter more than waiting until you feel motivated. If you have ever wondered why certain habits feel so difficult to break or why some thoughts arrive instantly the moment things get hard, this is the episode for you. And if you are ready to put the neuroscience in action and start actual cognitive conditioning training, get ready for something really exciting. Begin With Ten is my new 30-day cognitive conditioning program: ten minutes a day of guided brain training designed to help rewire the way you think using repetition, breathwork, and neuroscience-backed techniques used by elite performers around the world. This is not passive listening. You are actively training your mind with daily mental reps that strengthen calm, certainty, emotional control, and focus in a way that compounds over time. A Christmas special should feel like a living room after dark—lights on, jokes flying, and just enough chaos to keep it honest. We kick things off with the great inflatable debate, the price of holiday lights, and who still climbs the roof when the weather drops. From there it gets spicier: does Santa “lean” one way or another, and did Coca‑Cola really give him that red suit? We share a small New York moment where a stranger buys our pizza, and it launches a bigger conversation about generosity that carries through the hour. The tipping talk hits home. Some of us tip almost everyone—servers, delivery crews, furniture movers—because we've worked those jobs or just feel grateful. Others draw the line at the counter iPad for a plain coffee. We trade stories from butchers to juice bars, and wrestle with how far tipping culture should stretch without losing the point of service. It's lively, respectful, and real—exactly the conversation people are having at drive‑thrus and kitchen islands right now.We reset with music and movies: Sinatra over synths, Crosby over remixes, and a strong case that Polar Express is beautifully shot and also kind of creepy. Gifts get practical—do you give a gift card or hunt for the perfect thing?—and caroling makes a nostalgic return. The episode closes with stories from childhood Christmases: waiting behind “burglar bars” for parents to wake, the magic of a few gifts that meant everything, and how that feeling still guides us. Through all the banter and hot takes, we come back to the heart of it: faith, family, kindness, and the small-town spirit that makes December feel like home.If this one made you laugh, nod, or argue in the car, tap follow, share it with a friend, and leave a quick review. Welcome to the PR Training Lab! Go behind the scenes with me as I create a custom training plan for one lucky runner. In this episode, we feature Leigh:
This week on The Doomscroll Diaries, we're spiraling over Kim Kardashian's latest legal flop, wondering who's running Sydney Sweeney's PR (because girl…), and trying to make sense of a wild animal that's straight-up attacking people in Japan. We also get into the death-metal Miss Universe performance that broke our brains, Jennifer Lawrence swearing off politics, and why “Most Improved” might be the shadiest award of all time.Follow us on Instagram @doomscrolldiaries and leave us a 5-star review if you, too, would show up to court in a thong and call it “business casual.”
When you're plant-based and your family and friends aren't, it can feel like you're the odd one out. If you're hosting and you're not making turkey on Thanksgiving, your meat-eating guests are likely to grumble. If you're a guest, you might go hungry unless you show up with a vegan meal to share. Is there any way to make the holiday gathering go a little smoother for everyone this year? Let's find out. Today, I'm talking with a very special guest, Nick Cutsumpas, also known as Farmer Nick. Nick is an Emmy-winning plant-based gardener, landscaper, and plant coach. I invited him on the show to have a conversation all about how to have a happy and healthy holiday when you're plant-based and your family is not. We go over: Meal ideas whether you are a guest or if you are hosting, Potluck do's and don'ts, and How to best respond to common questions, without being that angry vegan And, I couldn't help myself, we also talk a little about gardening and houseplants, two more things Nick and I have in common. Welcome to the PR Training Lab! Go behind the scenes with me as I create a custom training plan for one lucky runner. In this episode, we feature Daniel:
If you've been running for any length of time, you know that running is as much mental as physical. Maybe more. After all, it doesn't matter how strong your legs are if your mind quits before the finish line. Today's episode is about learning to view your running in a completely different way, as a practice, not a test. You'll learn: why hitting your paces in a workout doesn't mean what you think it means, how letting go of control, just a little, can actually make you better, and how to turn any bad run into a good one. This episode is about your mindset about training overall. If what you really need is a targeted approach to conquering race day doubts, I'm creating something just for you. RECENT REVIEWS: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐A+ I appreciate Coach Claire's positive insights on training! JRA4177 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐A highlight of my week It is a gift to be able to have a space for plant-based runners to learn! Claire's advice is always solid and not just limited to the plant-based, but doesn't include fueling your runs with unhealthy foods, which seems to happen on other podcasts. Thank you! AmyFica ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Best running podcast As a seasoned marathoner but new plant-based runner, Coach Claire is a valuable resource. Solid content for runners across the spectrum, I especially appreciate her confidence in middle age running ladies like myself who are trying to keep up the hobby they love most. When I was pregnant with my kids, I was not a runner. I did what I could, but I definitely wasn't running. In the years since, I've coached countless women through their pregnancies and postpartum and today, I'm going to share what I've learned from them and from the research. You'll learn: how running can help you have a better pregnancy, an easier delivery, and a healthier baby. when not to run while pregnant, and how to get back into running shape in a safe and healthy way after delivery. This show is obviously female focused, but that doesn't mean that there is nothing in here for the guys listening. The human body is capable of incredible things and if there is a woman in your life that has given birth or could in the future, you might want to listen up so that you can understand a little bit more of her experience.
