Truth Trauma Theology
The Holy Spirit of the Old Testament with Dr. Rolan Monje

Truth Trauma Theology

In this episode we explore how the Old Testament portrays the Holy Spirit's presence. It seems confusing to reconcile how the OT describes the Spirit's activity as opposed to what we see in the NT. Dr. Monje joins to discuss the fundamental questions Christians have when reading the Holy Spirit of the OT. Q.What was the Jewish understanding of the Spirit? Definition of ruach? Uses of ruach? Q. Is the “Spirit" in the OT also “holy”? Q.How is the Holy Spirit present in creation? Q.What does it mean when the Spirit came upon various characters throughout the OT? Senses of Ruach? Empowerment? Q. What happened with the elders of Israel? Q. What happened with Saul? Q. What about Saul's evil spirit? Q. Is this the spirit of God or something else? Q. What does this say about Saul? Q. What are some OT prophecies regarding the Spirit that are fulfilled throughout the NT? Q. Do the Dead Sea Scrolls have something to say on the Spirit? Rolan Monje (BD, MMin, DMin) serves as an evangelist and teacher. He is Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Rocky Mountain School of Ministry and Theology in Colorado, and also directs the Asia-Pacific Leadership Academy in Manila. Dr. Monje travels extensively (over 100 cities across 6 continents) and has spoken in countries as varied as Germany, Turkey, Qatar, Greece, UAE (Dubai), Ecuador, Canada, Nigeria, Myanmar, and Australia. He and his wife, Weng, oversee a region of churches in the Philippines and have been on staff over 20 years. They have two daughters, Yana and Stefi. In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger, FCAH, CBHT (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Lizanne Flynn about her work in communicating with animals through energy. For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/lizanne-flynn   Highlights from today's episode include: Lizanne Flynn  Very often, and I would say probably 85, to probably 95% of the requests for a session involve another human contacting me and saying, my dog, cat, bird, Guana, turtle, horse, rabbit, cow, pig, whatever species it happens to be, has changed their behavior. Lizanne Flynn  I think that perhaps there are maybe sometimes some kinds of trauma in the animal world that the bandwidth if as I put it has been so narrowed as to incrementally it can be expanded upon, and that's not going to happen overnight. Lizanne Flynn  I do think animals can mirror for us, at times, imbalances in energy, particularly if we're talking about a domesticated animal, a dog cat, a companion animal, AKA a pet, that we have in our lives, there can be a mirroring of their behavior and an issue that's going on in our lives.   ABOUT LIZANNE FLYNN: Lizanne Flynn is a master healer who works with all Earthlings to reunite them within themselves and with each other. Lizanne began her journey as facilitator of self-healing for all beings after completing her first career in healthcare human resources. Her intuitive skillset came forward after she became aware of being able to speak telepathically with animals while volunteering at a local animal shelter. Animals have always been leaders for her on her own path and will remain so based on a shared soul contract with them. It was at this point that she wanted to add a physical component to her practice and discovered canine massage in 2008 and Reiki in 2010. The shamanistic tools of journeying and soul retrieval for all species were incorporated in 2012. Her embrace of this life experience included a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis some 25 years ago and she continually awakens to the gifts that such a challenge presents. Lizanne actively seeks the input of the wisdom of Animals and the natural world. Her own team of guides continue to support, guide and ensure her security in the various roles and dimensions into which she steps. In 2020, Lizanne was awarded a patent for a portable animal therapy table by the US Patent and Trade Office which enables both human therapist and animal client to be more comfortable and secure in numerous healing modalities. Also in 2020, Lizanne founded the The Animals' iView Academy and its inaugural course The Master Language Immersion Course which is designed to connect humans more deeply to their own innate telepathic communion with the natural world and other dimensions around them. This was followed in 2021 by The Animal Ambassador and Outreach Course which is focused on creating a bridge between Animals in the wild and humans so that we may be more effective partners for them on our shared planet. Lizanne is dedicated to reawakening humans to the master universal language of energy and knows that each time she steps into the role of teacher she also steps into the role of student. She is a former instructor of both Canine Massage and Reiki at the Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage located in Elizabeth, Colorado. Core purpose/passion: Animals and their desire to building a closer relationship with us in which we become part of their collective awareness instead of continuing to propagate our own. Because this human-centric path upon which we're insisting, is not working for the planet or any being on the planet at this point in time. Welcome back to The Abundant Artist, the show that dispels the myth of “the starving artist” and shares how you can live an abundant life as an artist and make a living from your talent one interview at a time. Our guest today is Marisa S White, an award-winning artist-photographer based in Colorado. A drawing and painting major, Marisa fell in love with photography in college and eventually began to incorporate it into her work, creating mixed media collages. In 2012, she was introduced to Photoshop, and her artistic world changed forever. In this episode, Marisa shares her journey as an artist, why she went from art school to setting up her own payroll business to back in school learning photography, how her “decent personality for sales” has served her well, how she handles her gallery relations, and many more tidbits about her art life. Join us for today's podcast to learn more about Marisa's “trials-and-errors” in life which, she believes, have got her to the point where she is now. Key Takeaways: [1:20] Cory kicks off the conversation with Marisa asking how she came up with the idea for her series titled Certain These Clouds Go Somewhere. [4:48] Cory reminisces about his growing up years in Utah, and how he resonates with Marisa's creative feelings emanating from being surrounded by giant mountains and being in and among the clouds. [7:19] How does Marisa describe herself – a photographer, an artist, or a collage artist? [8:12] Marisa shares her art journey with the TAA audience, from art school to where she is today. [11:20] How going to the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and being exposed to Photoshop there changed the course of Marisa's art career. [14:35] Cory asks Marisa why she decided to sell her payroll business and go back to school to learn photography. [17:22] What does Marisa mean when she says she has “a decent personality for sales?” [19:40] Cory compares the sales cycle in the mid-upper tier of the art market with that of enterprise software solutions. [22:23] How Marisa loves to share the stories behind her artworks with visitors in art fairs. [24:20] Marisa talks about her creative process. [28:48] Why Marisa thinks that making behind-the-scenes videos of their creative process can be a bit frustrating for artists since they do a lot of things “in the moment,” but why she still recommends doing so. [30:43] How do buyers find Marisa? [31:40] Apart from galleries and art fairs, sales through social media have started picking up lately for Marisa. [32:10] How does Marisa choose the art fairs she goes to? [34:14] Why it is important as an artist to keep track of where your sales are coming from. [36:13] Cory asks Marisa whether she has formal contracts with the galleries she is working with. [39:46] Marisa explains how she handles her relationships with multiple galleries. [43:10] Why is Marisa using both Photobiz and ArtStoreFronts for her website? [45:22] Marisa is going to get her own retail space soon. [47:31] Cory thanks Marisa for joining the podcast! In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” - Viktor Frankl"People want to be able to genuinely express what they think or feel from a place that does not feel out of control."Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 NIV - When we have distressed emotions we can remember that we have a compassionate God. Isaiah 63:9- "In all their distress, he too was distressed" - God sits beside us in our distress, He doesn't wag His finger in our distress. 2 Corinthians 10:5- "Take every thought captive"- this scripture is used out of context very often; this isn't about your emotions and thoughts. We can respond based on our values instead of our initial, emotional reactionsStewarding the Sacred Space: Before we can respond based on our values, we have to soothe psychologically if we are highly triggered. Adrenaline floods the body when we are activated in .05 seconds; it takes about 20 minutes for adrenaline to calm back down.Let the feelings talk:God is kind enough to give us the space to sit with our emotions and let them talk for a minute before we try to either squash them or give them full vent. Give yourself time to honor your feelings and reactions but ultimately responding to life's stimuli based on your values and who you want to be."I can feel myself getting reactive to this, I want to be able to share this with you in the best way possible- can I come back and try again later?"Blame Game: Isaiah 58:9-10: “do away...with the pointing finger..."Ephesians 4:15 - Speak the truth in love.Psalm 16:8Jen's Recommended Resources:Book: Emotionally Healthy Spirituality  Book: The Ruthless Elimination of HurryACT: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Resources – Hayes, HarrisRuss Harris Videos on YouTubePodcast: theartofintimatemarriage.comRetreats: Alaska RetreatsSabbath RestSupport the show (https://tithe.ly/give_new/www/#/tithely/give-one-time/678206?giving_to=Woven%20In%20Truth%20Podcast)

The city of Lakewood is a suburb of Denver, Colorado. There was never a traditional downtown in the city, but there was a central business area along Colfax Avenue and it became home to the Jewish Consumptives' Relief Society, which treated patients suffering from tuberculosis. When TB was no longer a threat, the property was opened as the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. The college offers a curriculum in animation, photography, graphic design, fine arts and fashion design, but it also offers something else: ghosts. There have been many reports of supernatural activity on the campus and one of the people who has experienced that is our listener Kate Wilker, who suggested this location. Join us as we explore the history and hauntings of the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design! The Moment in Oddity was suggested by Nicole Dixon and features the Seaborn Goodall House and the This Month in History features British Parliament abolishes the slave trade.
