Also, a bright meteor streaked across the sky over Ohio and Pennsylvania around 9 a.m. Tuesday, producing a loud sonic boom that rattled homes in the Cleveland area. We sit down with Brad Burkhart, Market Development Specialist for Corteva Agriscience, to recap what really happened in the 2025 crop season — and what farmers should take forward into 2026.Brad walks us through the major trends he saw at harvest: disease pressure that showed up across multiple regions, waterhemp surges creeping from edge to row, and early-season conditions that made crop protection decisions more important than ever.We highlight the biggest “wins” of 2025, including real-world in-field results:• Forcivo™ fungicide:High pressure meant fungicide performance mattered. Brad shares field trial results — including one Iowa farm where combining Forcivo with Aproach® Prima delivered 49 bu/A more than untreated acres.• Resicore® REV & Kyro™ herbicides:Farmers leaned on flexible application windows, strong tank-mix compatibility, and long-lasting residuals. Brad shares how an Iowa grower again achieved 8 weeks of waterhemp residual with encapsulated acetochlor in Resicore REV.• Enversa™, Sonic® Boom & Kyber® Pro soy herbicides:Farmers needed solutions beyond dicamba. Brad highlights how Enversa and Enlist One® helped a Nebraska farm eliminate pigweed pressure — and how Sonic Boom and Kyber Pro performed with consistent, broad-spectrum activity and flexible timing up to V4/V5.• Tolvera® herbicide for cereals:A rare new active ingredient hit the market in 2025 — and cereal growers embraced it. Brad shares a Montana farm's success controlling kochia, narrowleaf hawksbeard and wild buckwheat while maintaining strong rotation flexibility. We close with actionable 2026 planning steps, including mapping problem areas, updating weed control programs, and using 2025 performance insights to maximize ROI next season. For more information on Corteva crop protection solutions, visit Corteva.com/us. On today's show we welcome a legendary artist, producer and label owner who has had a pivotal role in the development of UK bass music. Adrian Sherwood is the man behind the 'On-U Sound', a label that helped popularise Reggae, Dub and Industrial music in both the UK and world wide. 'On-U Sound' brought us the likes of Dub Syndicate, African Headcharge, Gary Clail and many more as well as giving a platform to some of the greats of reggae including Mad Professor. His production and remix work has put a dubbed out spin on the likes of Sonic Boom, Halsey, Lee 'Scratch' Pery and Horace Andy. As an artist he formed groundbreaking Industrial act 'Tackhead' with Keith LeBlanc and produced Bristol punk legend Mark Stewart during his creative peak. His new album 'The collapse of everything' celebrates his relationship with LeBlanc & Stewart through bass heavy dubbed out excursions into leftfield music. It's our pleasure to welcome Adrian Sherwood to the pod. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Expansive dub vibrations from the On-U Sound maestro. Adrian Sherwood has spent nearly five decades reshaping how dub is heard and felt. From absorbing reggae and funk as a teenager at the Newlands Club in High Wycombe to cofounding On-U Sound in 1979, he's been a restless force in British sound system culture. His debut production, Dub From Creation, signalled his instinct to twist the Jamaican form into bold, experimental directions. That spirit defined On-U Sound, where reggae collided with post-punk, industrial and synth pop to forge a catalogue still unlike anything else. Sherwood became a crucial bridge, producing for legends like Prince Far I, Bim Sherman and Lee “Scratch” Perry, while also working with Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails and Sinéad O'Connor. His RA Mix (yes, you read that right) arrives at a moment of renewal—RA.1001 is the first in a new era for the series. (After 1,000 editions of the RA Podcast, we're updating the name to better reflect what it's become.) Recorded at his Ramsgate studio, the 76-minute mix folds in cuts from The Collapse Of Everything alongside material from across the On-U Sound universe, plus collaborations with Panda Bear, Sonic Boom, Coldcut and Spoon. It's Sherwood doing what he's always done: stretching dub into endless new shapes. Find the interview and tracklist at ra.co/podcast/1019
As a founding member and lead singer of Galaxie 500, it could be said Dean Wareham was present at the Big Bang of American indie/alternative/college rock in the 80’s. The band spawned both a large fanbase as well as a nascent movement that embraced the same sensibilities of atmospheric-yet-stripped down, heartfelt-but-self-aware, Velvet Underground-inspired music that shaped underground music for the next two-plus decades. He then moved on to found Luna, a slightly more musically accomplished successor to Galaxie 500 that carried those same sensibilities into the 21st century. Dean and Britta, the band he founded with wife and long-time collaborator Britta Phillips, released a Christmas-themed record with former Spaceman 3 frontman Sonic Boom entitled A Peace of Us in late 2024. Hear how songs by Beat Rhythm Fashion, The Feelies, and Francoise Hardy helped shape his sensibilities.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this captivating episode of Kent Hance: The Best Storyteller in Texas, Kent takes us on a nostalgic and thought-provoking journey through two of the most ambitious technological marvels of the 20th century: the Apollo moon landings and the supersonic Concorde jet. With his signature wit and wisdom, Kent reflects on the boundless optimism of the 1960s and 70s, when Americans believed we'd be living on the moon and flying across the globe in under three hours. Kent revisits the excitement and eventual disillusionment surrounding these innovations, exploring how high costs, political hesitations, and public indifference grounded dreams that once soared. He also shares personal anecdotes—from flying the Concorde to humorous misunderstandings in Congress—and even touches on modern parallels with artificial intelligence. This episode is a rich blend of history, humor, and insight, reminding us that sometimes, “the juice just isn't worth the squeeze.”
