We're talking paydays. Primetime. Professional track.Welcome to Grand Slam Track, launching this weekend in Kingston, Jamaica—the first stop in a brand-new, big-budget, athlete-first pro league created by Michael Johnson. You want Olympic stars? Try Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, Grant Fisher, Cole Hocker, Fred Kerley, Mary Moraa—the best of the best, signed and showing up.You want stakes? How does $100,000 per event winner sound? Yeah. And you want drama? It's all baked in: Racers vs. Challengers. One weekend. Two events per athlete. Only one Slam Champion. This all kicks off in Kingston, which is basically sprinting's holy land. If anyone's gonna test Fred Kerley or Kenny Bednarek on their 100m trash talk, it's the Jamaican crowd… and Oblique Seville. We've got Gabby vs. Marileidy. Yared vs. Kerr vs. Hocker. Elise Cranny sweating it out after a 30:36 in SoCal, now lining up in 88-degree heat for the 5000m. Sydney McLaughlin opening her season in April. And a 1500m/800m field on the men's side that looks more stacked than your TikTok algorithm. So let's get into it: the matchups, the payouts, and the storylines that'll define Grand Slam Track.

The 2025 U.S. Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta delivered fireworks, with PUMA Elite's Alex Maier and Taylor Roe claiming national titles and locking in their spots for the World Road Running Championships. Roe's late-race surge past Weini Kelati underscored Oklahoma State's pipeline of elite talent. Meanwhile, indoor track is officially in chaos mode. Heather MacLean ran 4:17.01 for the mile, which also unknowingly broke the U.S. indoor 1500m record. Nico Young continued his meteoric rise, clocking 12:51.56 for 5000m—second-fastest by an American ever. Yared Nuguse chased the mile world record but settled for 3:47.22. Also at BU – Graham Blanks broke 7:30 in the 3K and Aidan McCarthy ran a historic 1:45.19 in the 800m. With NCAA Indoors, World Indoors, and outdoor season approaching fast, the distance scene is more competitive than ever. Tune in as we break it all done.Bonus: Harry Styles ran 3:24 for the Tokyo Marathon.
“To win a world championship title in my country, then break world records and British records all the way throughout the season, then make it to the Olympics and run a personal best on the biggest stage – you can't walk away disappointed with that or else you're just going to hate the sport. I'm happy with how the year went.” Few athletes in the world of track and field command attention like Josh Kerr. The reigning 1500m World champion and Olympic silver medalist returns to The CITIUS MAG Podcast today to reflect on a monumental 2024 season and to share exciting news: Josh is officially set to race the Wanamaker Mile at the 2025 Millrose Games. Known for his meticulous approach to racing and his ability to thrive on the sport's biggest stages, Josh enters the new year with ambitious goals, including sweeping the Grand Slam Track series and defending his World Championship title. In this episode, we dig into Josh's takeaways from a season that included personal bests, thrilling head-to-head battles, and some of the most competitive 1500m races in history. We also discuss his return to the mile distance, his rivalry with Yared Nuguse, and what makes the Wanamaker Mile one of the most coveted titles in indoor track. Josh doesn't just run fast—he runs with purpose. And today, he gives us a glimpse into the mindset, strategy, and fire that fuel one of the best middle-distance runners in the world. “That race felt like everything I wanted in a 1500m wrapped up into one perfect race… It was a crazy fast race where we were basically going all out. Everyone was in it together, especially with that last dramatic kick where you still didn't know who was going to win with 200m to go.” Yared Nuguse has cemented himself as one of the best stars in middle-distance running. With a bronze medal in the 1500m at the Paris Olympics, Yared made history alongside Cole Hocker, marking the first time in 112 years that Team USA claimed multiple medals in the event. Add to that a silver medal in the 3000m at the World Indoor Championships earlier in 2024, and it's safe to say Yared's season was nothing short of remarkable. Today, Yared joins The CITIUS MAG Podcast to reflect on his breakout year and to share the exciting news that he'll be racing the Wanamaker Mile at the 2025 Millrose Games. The showdown between Yared and reigning World champion Josh Kerr promises to be one of the highlights of the indoor season, and we dive into how Yared is preparing for the challenge. We also discuss his evolution as a global medal contender, the lessons learned from two World Championship campaigns, and his mindset as he continues to push the limits of American middle-distance running.

“The biggest learning experience was definitely Worlds. I feel like the other races are races I've done a lot before and I know how they go. Worlds was something I've only really done one other time. A big thing I wanted to take away from Worlds was just framing my mindset in a way that's ‘You are as good as you think you are. You just have to go out there and act like it.' … I gained a lot of success really quickly so it's been a bit surprising. I'm trying to focus on who I am as a runner and where I'm supposed to be in a race.” Yared Nuguse, the American record holder in the mile, claimed his first global championship medal with a runner-up finish for silver in the 3000m at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow last month. Nuguse will open up his 2024 outdoor campaign with the mile at the Penn Relays. He was also announced as one of the headliners for the Bowerman Mile at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon on May 25th. The former Notre Dame star is considered one of the favorites to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. He qualified for the Tokyo Olympics with a third place finish at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Trials. However, he scratched from the race while in Tokyo due to a quad injury during his warmup. In this conversation, Mac Fleet sits down to recap his 2024 indoor season and how he's taking lessons from competing at two global championships to work in his favor come the Trials and Summer Games. "It feels like a goal that's within my grasp of achieving. Not only am I stronger and smarter than I was last year, but I feel like I've come a long way and will be able to attack this race with a lot more confidence to chase the world record. When I went (to Millrose) for the first time, I was just chasing the American record. So I feel like changing that mindset, just seeing how far I've come, it feels like a very real possibility at this point." U.S. outdoor mile record holder Yared Nuguse will return to the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City for the 116th Millrose Games to defend his men's Wanamaker Mile title. Last year, Nuguse made his Millrose Games debut and won and set a U.S. indoor mile record of 3:47.38. He barely missed the world record of 3:47.01 set by Yomif Kejelcha in 2019. Nuguse put together a career year in 2023 with a 7:28.23 for 3000m indoors (American record); a personal best of 3:29.02 for 1500m (the fastest performance by an American-born runner); 3:43.97 outdoor mile (an American record and the fourth-fastest performance in history; a victory at the London Diamond League 1500m and a fifth place finish in the 1500m final at the World Championships. Most recently, he ran 3:56.58 at the Merrie Mile in Honolulu to come just .45 seconds shy of breaking the road mile world record. The Millrose Games is the sixth stop on the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold calendar. Livestream and television broadcast details will be announced in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more Millrose Games athlete announcements as the pro fields come together. Tickets to the 116th Millrose Games can be purchased online at millrosegames.org.
