Have you ever caught yourself living in constant hustle mode — pushing for the next milestone in your therapy practice but rarely pausing to breathe, to celebrate, or to simply be? I sit down with Jenny Jonker, a therapist, practice owner, and graduate of both my Money Skills for Therapists and Money Skills for Practice Owners programs. Jenny's story is powerful — she shares how her immigrant background, her family's experience fleeing war, and the survival mindset that shaped her early years carried into her life as a business owner. Together, we explore what it looks like to shift from fear and scarcity into calm, trust, and true presence. I coach Jenny through the process of breaking free from the “always-doing” cycle and learning to actually enjoy the success she's built. We talk about how trauma, culture, and early money stories shape the way we work — and why slowing down, resting, and allowing ourselves to feel safe in abundance is part of the deeper healing work for therapists. Jenny's reflections are moving and relatable: honoring her parents' legacy while learning that she doesn't have to hustle to prove her worth. She reminds us that the path to financial stability in private practice isn't only about spreadsheets and systems — it's about healing what's underneath. The Cost of Constant Hustle and How Therapists Can Embrace Rest (00:03:11) Finding Purpose Beyond Hustle (00:09:01) Breaking Cycles, Reclaiming Your Space (00:10:39) Feeling Empowered Through Your Backstory (00:18:51) Reflecting on Presence and Growth (00:21:07) Hustling to Prove Yourself (00:23:01) New Patterns Take Time (00:26:10) Prioritizing Rest and Growth (00:30:29) Balancing Hustle with Presence Redefining “Enough”: Healing the Immigrant Hustle Mindset in Private Practice (00:10:05) “Being an immigrant and having my own history and the way that I grew up, I think has really informed my practice and how I show up with clients and how I want to create this space with intention and be able to share my story and my experiences of hardship and poverty with clients in a way that helps them have hope." - Jenny Jonker Jenny beautifully describes what she calls her foreboding joy — that anxious feeling when things are finally good, but a part of you is waiting for something to go wrong. She's practicing new tools to retrain her nervous system, learning to let in safety, joy, and gratitude. One of her grounding techniques: closing her eyes, counting to three, and saying, “I am really here. I deserve this.” If you've ever felt driven by scarcity, fear, or the pressure to prove yourself, Jenny's story offers a gentle reminder: your worth doesn't come from your productivity. It's okay to slow down, to rest, and to take in how far you've come. Action Steps to Help You Shift Your Money Narrative: Explore your family's money story. Reflect on the messages you absorbed about money, work, and success growing up. Which beliefs are truly yours, and which are ready to be released? Notice when “hustle” shows up. When you feel the pull to overwork, ask: “What am I afraid will happen if I slow down?” Practice mindful presence and positive affect tolerance. Try the same exercise I walked Jenny through: sit still, close your eyes, count to three, and open them with the words, “I deserve this. This is my life. I built this.” Connect with your younger self. When fear arises, connect with that child part of you and gently remind them, “We're safe now. I've made good choices for us.” Celebrate your accomplishments – Visibly. Create...
It's budget season—and chances are, your process is more fragmented than you think. In this episode of the Multifamily Collective, I share why most multifamily budget models fail before they even launch—and what to do about it. Whether you're using Excel, Yardi, RealPage, or tools like Visibly, the platform isn't the problem. The problem is the process. Here's what's really happening behind closed doors:VPs are building their own forecasts, with no alignmentSite teams are left out of critical decision-makingC-suite assumptions are disconnected from the reality on the groundBudgets are finalized in isolation, then handed down as gospelAnd the result? Missed numbers. Misalignment. And a whole lot of finger-pointing.What you need is a collaborative budgeting process—one that includes your site teams, regional leaders, and executive council from day one. Because when everyone has a voice, the forecasts become real. The buy-in becomes stronger. And the outcomes become achievable. This isn't just about hitting numbers. It's about building trust, driving performance, and showing up with clarity across every level of your organization. If this resonates, hit like, subscribe, and drop a comment below. How is your team approaching 2026 budgets? Let's learn from each other.
The visibly frail and cognitively impaired President of the United States got on Truth Social to whine about the fact that he had to "work really hard" during his trip to Asia last week. Trump whined that Chuck Schumer called the trip a failure, which it was, and Trump then accused Schumer of treason over those remarks. The whole thing shows what a crybaby Trump really is, as Farron explains. In a little-noticed talk with reporters last week, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. admitted that he DOES NOT have "sufficient evidence" to back up his claim from September that Tylenol is linked to increased rates of autism. This is a massive departure from the grand press briefing he held with Donald Trump where Trump repeatedly yelled "DON'T TAKE TYLENOL." And the new claim from Kennedy came just one day after the Texas Attorney General announced they were suing the makers of Tylenol based on Kennedy's initial claims. FBI Director Kash Patel was busted recently by a right wing critic of his for using the FBI's private jet to travel out of state to go watch his VERY young girlfriend perform at a country music festival. The worst part, aside from the disturbing age difference between Patel and his girlfriend, is that this isn't even the first time this year that he's used the agency's $60 million plane for a date night - it's not even the second time he's done it this year! A mass purge of people who could tell Donald Trump "no" is underway throughout the federal government in ways that most people don't even realize. From leadership at Homeland Security, to the Department of Defense, to the Department of Justice, and even the Commission of Fine Arts, Trump is getting rid of anyone who might stand in the way of his grand plans. This is exceptionally dangerous for the country, and things are only going to get worse as he replaces people who had consciences with spineless yes men. Vincent M. Ambrosio was a nineteen-year-old from Wappinger Falls, New York, caught in the Fairfield, Connecticut sting of Hansen vs. Predator. Unlike others, his episode never aired—deemed too grim. In 2019, Chris Hansen quietly released the raw footage as “premium content” on his YouTube channel. Ambrosio had dropped out of high school, was unemployed, and living with his parents while caring for his ailing grandfather. Battling depression, he was under psychiatric care, though the medication wasn't helping. When he arrived at the sting house, he awkwardly tried to hug the decoy, who quickly distanced herself before stepping away. Moments later, Chris entered. Visibly emotional, Ambrosio broke down. He spoke of his failing mental health, academic struggles, and a life unraveling. He claimed he was seeking friendship—not sex—and even said he dreamed of becoming a police officer but felt his weight made that impossible. Despite showing some empathy, Chris couldn't reconcile Ambrosio's pain with his attempt to meet a minor for sex. In a final, awkward effort to defuse the moment, Ambrosio told Hansen, “My dad's overweight too.” But there's even more to this predato's story.

Send us a textFederal judges have delivered a stunning rebuke to the current administration's attempt to terminate thousands of government workers, with one California judge calling the firings "a sham" designed to circumvent legal protections for federal employees. The dramatic courtroom confrontation began when the administration refused to produce witnesses who could explain the mass terminations, instead sending lawyers with what the judge described as "press releases" and "sham documents." Visibly frustrated, the judge ruled from the bench that the Office of Personnel Management had "no authority whatsoever" to direct agencies to fire employees, ordering immediate reinstatement for thousands of workers across multiple departments including Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Defense, Energy, Interior, and Treasury. The judge highlighted the case of Leandra Bailey, who received "fully successful in every category" performance reviews only to be terminated with a template letter falsely citing performance issues. "It is a sad day when our government would fire good employees and say it was based on performance, when they know good and well that that's a lie," the judge declared, noting this approach would deprive workers of unemployment benefits and damage future job prospects.A second federal judge in Maryland quickly followed with a similar ruling covering additional agencies, creating overlapping orders that effectively dismantle the administration's personnel purge. Meanwhile, the administration faces additional embarrassment from reports of CDC employees being directed to work at closed Subway sandwich shops and storage facilities through a poorly implemented "Space Match" program, while an OPM spokesperson was busy posting fashion influencer videos from her government office. The courthouse victories represent a significant check on executive authority and provide immediate relief to thousands of federal workers caught in the crossfire of administrative overreach. With 10,000 baby boomers retiring daily and relying on government services, these rulings underscore the critical importance of maintaining a functional, properly staffed federal workforce operating within the boundaries of established law. During an event billed as a speech about the economy, Donald Trump was addled and confused, rambled incoherently, and launched into strange non sequiturs. Yet The New York Times's initial news story made the event sound far more normal than it was. Is the press doing an adequate job of analyzing Trump's deteriorating mental state? We think the answer is an emphatic “no.” We talked to former reporter Meredith Shiner—author of a recent piece for The New Republic about the successes of GOP media ref-working—who explained why the press largely fails to scrutinize Trump's mental unfitness for the presidency. This week, Dr. Anthony Fauci's new book comes out, and it contains a disturbing chapter about Donald Trump's ignorance, explosive rage and megalomania during the coronavirus pandemic. We think this should be covered as a loud, clanging alarm bell about the dangers of a second Trump term. So we talked to New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, who has written a series of columns on voter amnesia about Trump's 2020 performance, about the horrors unleashed on the country by his unfitness for the presidency—and why recent events suggest he's gotten much worse.
