This week, we're recording on election day while awaiting results to find out which version of "Democrats are doing it wrong!" the pundits will run with tomorrow. We open with words of wisdom from Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to the American Federation of Teachers. Then we come to bury Dick Cheney, not to praise him. We'll explore our "12 Rules for Staying Fing Sane," which we redefine as a playbook for Democratic victories. And then we dive deep into Three Days of the Condor (RIP Robert Redford). MAGA voters simultaneously demand government protection for their economic interests while raging against assistance for "undeserving" others. What does Cliff Robertson's character Higgins teach us about "paternalistic authoritarianism" and the fascist bargain? Plus: Why getting rid of Citizens United, child tax credits, and taxing the rich all poll very well—but you'd never know it from the consultant class. Not safe for work. Tara breaks down the escalating clash between ICE agents, Democrats, and criminal cartels. From Nancy Pelosi's “ICE master list” threat to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's doxing operation and executive orders, federal agents are facing unprecedented political targeting. She explains the legal protections for ICE officers, the dangers of obstruction by state officials, and the chilling potential for violent retaliation from both cartels and left-wing actors. Tara explores the broader implications for law enforcement, civil order, and U.S. politics as Democrats and criminal networks converge against federal immigration enforcement.

He responded defiantly: “I'm not afraid of telling the truth. I'll be the Democrat that refuses to lie to the base…And now I refuse to call my fellow citizens fascists or Nazis.” Could Fetterman switch political parties? 3:40pm- On Thursday, President Donald Trump held a roundtable—alongside Attorney General Pam Bondi, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem—to discuss his administration's crackdown on drug cartels. 3:50pm- William Howard Taft, the largest president in American history, famously required a specially installed oversized bathtub to accommodate his frame. Did the press complain about the construction project? Also, last month, Politico reported that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker was trying to lose weight ahead of the 2028 presidential election. Does anyone notice a difference in his size?

Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” talks to Bill O'Reilly about his new book Confronting Evil; The Rise of Evil in America and the World; how apathy and ignorance allow destructive ideologies to thrive; the dangers of progressive movements that dismiss morality and justice; the failure of schools to teach civics and truth; why O'Reilly believes 15% of people are inherently evil and the rest must choose between good or indifference; and the importance of confronting evil through truth, courage, and moral clarity; the moral collapse in American politics; how most politicians lack the integrity to provide moral guidance; the decline of religion and traditional values among younger generations; the erosion of law and order in New York City; the dangers of socialist policies under candidates like Zohran Mamdani, whom O'Reilly compares to Fidel Castro; his dark prediction for what will happen to NYC under Mamdani's leadership; how rising taxes, crime, and corruption are driving people and businesses to flee New York City; and the devastating social and economic consequences of progressive leadership; why he believes Illinois Governor JB Pritzker is worse than Gavin Newsom; Pritzker's obsession with hating Trump and his failures in addressing Chicago's violent crime crisis; his rejection of Trump's offer to deploy federal help to combat gang violence; the culture of denial among left-wing leaders ignoring Antifa and lawlessness in cities like Portland; the collapse of legacy media and lack of true debate on cable news; how censorship and echo chambers have weakened journalism; and O'Reilly's reflections on mentoring figures like Jesse Watters; and much more. Today's Headlines: Donald Trump's Nobel campaign tour continues: he's meeting Zelensky at the White House today, fresh off a “productive” call with Putin and plans to see him soon in Budapest. Meanwhile, former national security adviser John Bolton was indicted on 18 counts for allegedly keeping and sharing over a thousand pages of classified info with relatives — which were later hacked by Iran-linked actors. The Wall Street Journal says Trump's next target is the IRS, with plans to redirect its muscle toward investigating left-leaning groups and major Democratic donors. Shutdown side effects keep piling up — the New York Times found $28 billion in federal project funding frozen in blue districts versus just $739 million in red ones.In other news, Harvard reported a $113 million operating loss, its first in years, after federal funding fell and costs rose (though donor gifts hit a record $629 million and its endowment swelled to $57 billion). Trump also wined and dined corporate giants like Palantir, Meta, and Google to raise $250 million for his new White House ballroom, while Illinois Governor JB Pritzker casually declared $1.4 million in blackjack winnings. And in Madagascar, Gen Z protesters ousted their president, who fled to Dubai, leaving a military colonel promising elections “within two years.” Resources/Articles mentioned in this episode: WSJ: Trump Says He Will Meet With Putin in Budapest to Discuss End to Ukraine War AP News: Donald Trump's former adviser John Bolton indicted WSJ: Trump Team Plans IRS Overhaul to Enable Pursuit of Left-Leaning Groups NYT: Trump Halts Billions in Grants for Democratic Districts During Shutdown Axios: Harvard posts biggest operating loss in 14 years as Trump cuts bite WSJ: Trump Hosts Corporate Ballroom Donors at Glitzy White House Dinner WSJ: Billionaire Gov. As Donald Trump continues to push his anti-immigrant agenda, viral videos of ICE agents abusing people have steadily increased in number, prompting a growing public outcry for accountability for agents terrorizing neighborhoods and breaking local laws. Illinois Governor JB Pritzker talks with Jen Psaki about reports that he is looking into holding law-breaking ICE agents responsible.Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, talks exclusively with Jen Psaki about how he plans to stand up to Donald Trump and protect the city from Trump's abuses if he becomes mayor. Mamdani also addresses issues of religion and intra-party Democratic politics. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. They also talk about how conservative media is shaping the situation on the ground, what he thinks of California Governor Gavin Newsom's trolling approach to Trump, and whether we should bet on the Chicago Bears. This week, in the Middle East, Israel and Hamas agreed to implement the first phase of a U.S.-led ceasefire deal following its signing in Egypt, while U.S. President Donald Trump has announced he may travel to Israel in the coming days. In the Indo-Pacific, China expanded restrictions on rare earth exports and added sanctions against foreign defense companies, while North Korea celebrated the 80th anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea's founding. In the Russia/Ukraine conflict, both countries continued to attack each other's energy infrastructure, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported successful ongoing operations in a counteroffensive in the Donetsk region. In the U.S., Trump called for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker to be imprisoned following the deployment of 500 National Guard troops to the state.
Jason Kander and Ravi Gupta break down the escalating tensions in Chicago and Portland as President Trump federalizes the National Guard and local leaders push back. They discuss Illinois Governor JB Pritzker's sharp rebuke of Trump's actions, Pam Bondi's inflammatory comments about Portland officials, and how the president's militarization strategy could intimidate voters ahead of the midterms. Kander and Gupta also react to a bizarre Fox News segment featuring Stephen Miller and a troubling Trump clip on Vietnam and Afghanistan, before examining new reporting on the administration's legally dubious “narco-terrorist” operations in Venezuela. Plus, they debate Democratic strategy on the government shutdown, from stalled negotiations to uncertainty over back pay for federal workers, and unpack Pam Bondi's disastrous Senate testimony as she clashes with Adam Schiff and other lawmakers. Today's Headlines: Former FBI Director James Comey pled not guilty to charges of obstruction and making false statements, with his trial now set for January 5th. Meanwhile, Trump's picking new enemies, calling for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to be jailed for “failing to protect ICE officers.” Both fired back, with Johnson saying it's not the first time Trump's tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested. Adding to that authoritarian flavor, new data shows nearly a quarter of FBI agents are now focused primarily on immigration enforcement — a number that hits 40% in some major field offices. Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas have finally agreed on the first phase of their ceasefire plan — Israel will pull back troops, hostages will go home, and prisoners will walk free. Qatar and Hamas added that the deal also opens the gates for aid to enter Gaza. At the same time, his administration quietly inked an executive agreement giving Qatar near–NATO-level security guarantees — a move that normally requires Senate approval, but apparently we're skipping that part now. In economic news, gold prices just hit a record high of $4,000 an ounce — the strongest rally since 1979 — while the dollar is down more than 9% this year, signaling a crisis of confidence in U.S. institutions. A 29-year-old Florida man was arrested for starting the January wildfires that destroyed over 17,000 homes in Malibu and Palisades, killing 30 people. And to end on a rare uplifting note, 64-year-old immunologist Fred Ramsdell won the Nobel Prize in Medicine — learning the news only after returning from an off-the-grid Montana vacation. A clearly mentally disturbed Donald Trump got on Truth Social on Wednesday morning and demanded that Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago mayor Brandon Johnson be put in prison. Their crime, according to Trump, is that they aren't "protecting" his precious ICE agents that are disappearing people off the streets. ICE does not need "protecting," they are the ones that people need to be protected from. And with the way the agency has been attacking police officers, it seems like the ICE agents are the ones that need to be imprisoned.During an interview with Chris Cuomo on News Nation this week, Eric Trump went absolutely ballistic when Cuomo asked about the hypocrisy of Donald Trump weaponizing the federal government to go after his political enemies after spending years falsely accusing the Biden administration of doing that. Eric lost his mind when this was pointed out, and started yelling about all of the alleged offenses that Biden committed - with these examples being either exaggerated, fabricated, or happening long before Biden even ran for president. MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell announced this week that he is completely broke and can't afford to appeal a judge's recent ruling that found him liable for defamation against voting company Smartmatic. Lindell said that if he doesn't appeal it within 22 days, it'll go to a jury trial to determine the damages. The only problem, according to Lindell, is that he's completely broke, and now he's promising to go door-to-door to beg for money in order to get the cash to pay his lawyers. Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came up with the perfect way to demoralize MAGA men, and it might be the most simple thing that a person can do: Laugh at them. She said this was particularly effective against Trump ghoul Stephen Miller, who was forced to watch her make fun of him on an episode of Laura Ingraham's Fox News show this week. Miller could barely muster a response, and Ingraham was slurring so much it was difficult to tell what she was saying, so it looks like AOC's method definitely worked. The official Twitter account of the Oregon Republican Party was busted using fake photographs to claim that Portland is under siege by the Left and that Trump's deployment of the National Guard was necessary. The only problem is that the pictures weren't from Portland, or from the US, or even from this year. Some of the pictures were nearly 20 years old and featured riot police in South America - obviously not modern-day Portland. The Oregon GOP deleted the post after being called out, but the damage has already been done. Domestically, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem slams Portland's local leaders as "a bunch of pansies" for failing to act against Antifa protests surrounding the ICE facility. McCombie also raised concerns about possible tax hikes and pointed to alleged mismanagement in the state's SNAP program, saying it is costing taxpayers hundreds of millions. The budget debate continues, with both sides voicing strong opinions. "This is, in my opinion, just another attempt to poke the Trump bear," Illinois House Minority Leader Tony McCombie said.

1. Trip Recap & Foreign Relations El Salvador:Cruz praises President Nayib Bukele for drastically reducing homicide rates by aggressively targeting gangs like MS-13 and 18th Street. He contrasts El Salvador’s success with U.S. crime and immigration challenges. Panama:He toured the Panama Canal and highlighted U.S. concerns about China’s growing influence there, including ports, bridges, and tunnels near the canal. Cruz warns that China could disrupt canal traffic in a future conflict, threatening U.S. national and economic security. Mexico:Cruz met with senior Mexican officials (Foreign Secretary, Defense Secretary, Agriculture Secretary). He urged cooperation on border security and dismantling drug cartels, stressing Trump’s policies and a reported 99% drop in illegal border crossings. Mexican leaders, including President Claudia Sheinbaum, rejected U.S. military involvement, citing “sovereignty.” Cruz compared Mexico’s stance to El Salvador’s crackdown and Colombia’s Plan Colombia (early 2000s), arguing that success requires political will. He warned that if Mexico refuses, the U.S. may still act militarily against cartels under Trump’s leadership. 2. Domestic Politics & Crime Cruz and Ferguson shift focus to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, criticizing him for downplaying crime in Chicago. Cruz cites statistics on Chicago’s murder rate (highest in the U.S. for 13 consecutive years) and argues Democrats prioritize criminals over victims. He frames Democrat policies in Illinois, California, and nationally as failures comparable to Mexico’s refusal to confront cartels. 3. Broader Political Commentary Cruz claims Democrats have become the “party of criminals,” siding with offenders over law-abiding citizens. He notes polling showing Americans are highly concerned about crime in cities. Discussion touches on 2025 midterm elections: Republicans may benefit from Democrat extremism. But Cruz worries about a GOP “enthusiasm gap,” citing a special election loss in Iowa. He stresses the need for Republican voter turnout despite Trump’s early policy “successes.” Please Hit Subscribe to this podcast Right Now.
